Should we play Elneny and Xhaka together in front of the back four?
What has happened to Debuchy?

I think Xhaka and Cazorla should be the first choice. Coquelain is a bit too rash always seems to get booked early on and i'm constantly on edge when he goes into tackles. Elneny would be Cazorlas back up if we need to be a bit more defensive.

I think Debuchy will leave in January a player of his ability deserves more than just EFL cup appearances.

Detroit, that's why Coquelin was such a sensation last season. He is in the team because of his rash tackles not despite them. We have a team of creative yet not very aggressive players so he adds some grit (and some bookings! ) for sure. No good having 11 nice guys on the pitch, we want to win league and cup trophies, not sports personality and FIFA fair play awards.

It's worth a booking if you can intimidate players and get under their skin. Look how hesitant Costa was when he realised Koscielny and Mustafi weren't messing around, it no doubt was on the back of his mind everytime he went for 50/ 50 balls etc.

What are people on about, coq was second in tackles made in the league before he got injured, not been sent off anymore than anyone else and is the best tackler in the team by a mile. Somethings people come out with, makes me laugh.

I just rate Xhaka as a better player in a lot more aspects anyways. He offers more going forward than Coq and has a better range of passing.

Think what two CMs we play would depend on the opposition. Xhaka and Coquelain would be better together for games where we look to be more cautious and defensive.

Not discreditting Coquelain he is an excellent defensive midfielder and maybe my comment about him being rash could of been phrased better.

For me 90% of the time Le Coq does exactly what it says on the DM tin, breaks up attacts and regains the ball gives it to a team mates to go forward with, his interceptions are top class plus his passing range is much much better than he's given credit for.
Xhaka looks like a very good signing and much more of a goal scoring option than Le Coq but is goal scoring really what you look for from a DM?

Xhaka has numerous red cards against him from last season and is known as a hot head. Coquelin is the real deal defensive mid, play him with Xhaka but not rather than for me.

Coquelin and Cazorla compliment each other and TPG is spot on. He Koscielny and Mustafi are never going to take any prisoners. It's been way to long since we kicked the preverbial butt.

We do at last have steel to go with style.

For arsenal footbal club in the present day a tackling midfielder to defend in front of the defence is what is needed most. We have too many players who are not in position for swift counter attacks against us. Without coq we are sometimes exposed and he is by far the best person in the team to stop that and shield the back four. He is always the first player that should be on the team sheet in the center if fit, xhaka and elneny have not got the experience doing that like he has yet. How can anyone rate anyone better than someone else after only a couple of full games. You might like xhaka and want to see him come in and be better but to say he is better after so short a time is not right. Xhaka and coq or elneny and coq as a double shield yes i agree in certain top away games but of all the defensive midfielders we have coq is the solid one. Elneny and xhaka have come in and look as though they are quality but this is a tough league, ask matic at chelski, a few eye catching games and then not up to it. If either end up ousting coq or santi, then we have improved.

players go easily past xhaka. i prefer coquelin in the DM role.

Xhaka is better from what I've seen at everything else apart from the defending part. Not as disaplined as le coq and drifts out a bit. But I think depending on who's playing you have a real choice between the two.

I think play coq xhaka in hard away games and then coq santi or xhaka santi in the slightly easier home games.
