if we dnt get Cesc, thn atleast to make me happy, I want:
Balotelli
Greizman
Lars Bender
Aurier
Ruffier

Which signings wil atleast make up for u guys if Cesc goes to Chelsea?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Jun 2014 22:09:22
Aurier
Schneiderlin
Griezman
Remy/Jackson Martinez

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2014 22:57:36
Gk - Ruffier
RB - Pisczeck
CB - Schaar
CM - Khedira
LW - Griezman
ST - Jackson Martinez

It would take a lot to make me feel better

Agree0 Disagree0

This would make up for cesc only if
Gk - Ochoa
RB - Pisczeck
CB - Garay
CM - Bender
LW - Reus
ST - Cavani

Agree0 Disagree0

Aurier
schneiderlin
sanchez/greizman
falcao ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2014 02:28:52
Dags, we think very similarly. I also want Schneiderlin, Benzema, Remy, Griezmann, and Aurier. Benzema needs to be our priority as striker. His play today was amazing against Jamaica. If not Benzema then Remy, but Remy should for sure not be the first striker we look at.

Agree0 Disagree0

Damnnn. How we alll hope for a Cavani/Falcao. After statin our first choice cf.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2014 09:12:00
Agree Messenger.

Agree0 Disagree0

N am goner, I think it's because we have one of the better creative midfields in the world and are just begging for a 30+ goals a season striker to complete the setup. Falcao has scored goals for fun everywhere he has been. Cavalier is out of his depth a little at PSG in my opinion

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2014 13:06:54
Aurier
Griezman
Lars Bender
Benzema

Agree0 Disagree0

@gav_minton. Cavani is still good. He's just played out wide to accomodate a certain cocky player wit a ponytail at cf.

Ok guys, so apart from us, what other footy teams do you have a soft spot for? For me a perfect Saturday has victories for us, Leyton Orient and Cowdenbeath.

AC Milan.

Agree0 Disagree0

Watford my home town

Agree0 Disagree0

I've grown to love Rhyl F.C. over the past year. Go to a lot of their home games considering it's only a couple quid and I live about 5 minutes away. But no team on the planet compares to Arsenal.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed003's Note - Love Rhyl my team got David Eyres from them for 10k and I had a few weekends there back in the day :-) }

Roma

My local is Stevenage
but I play at The Hatters youth pitches so a little for Luton too.

also liked Athletico M. before it was cool, though only to spite the big 2.

and finally the unpopular answer Millwall :o

Barca AC and Bastia in football Chicargo bears and bulls and in college football hurricanes

Agree0 Disagree0

Oops forgot Celtic and Al-Ahay

Agree0 Disagree0

The Borroloola Swamp Dogs are my local team. They play on a patch of dirt with trees for goal posts. I still can't get a game.

Agree0 Disagree0

Leyton orient. used to live 2 mins away

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed I'm only about 5 mins away from rhyl as well and you wouldn't recognise the place now. Not the same place it was years ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed003's Note - in a good or bad way ? }

Hey MrD. I wasn't that close to the O's but only the 158 bus ride away!

I rang the stalker helpline earlier. they said 'Not you again.'

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Jun 2014 22:31:15
The beautiful woman who lives across the road from me thinks I'm stalking her.

Absolutely ridiculous.
In fact, when she accused me I was so shocked I dropped my binoculars.

My girlfriend thinks I'm a stalker.
Well, she's not actually my girlfriend yet.

I'm worried. I think this beautiful woman keeps stalking me.
Everytime I see her she's 3 paces in front of me.

IF Cesc come back to Emirates again as a gunner, who do u prefer to wear no4; him or our current no4, Per?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Jun 2014 20:50:08
Per everytime.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pogba .

08 Jun 2014 21:43:31
Sorry Dags, you might be right on Remy but your wrong on this, it's Cesc's shirt.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2014 21:54:30
BFG is number 4 until he's no longer at the club

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2014 22:15:46
1404,
Although I have no ill feelings towards Cesc for leaving us to follow his heart to Barca, for me, he gave up the number 4 shirt when he left.

Mert's is a crowd favourite and wear's the number 4 with pride.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2014 22:18:55
Plus, being German, I heard when he arrived at Arsenal and went into the changing room, he put a towel on the number 4 shirt 9 hours before everybody turned up.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2014 22:27:39
Per is number 4

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2014 00:01:25

If we really do have 100m, I would spend what it takes on Pogba

Fact is, after two scudettos, he's still "an emerging" superstar because the Italian league is an afterthought. We judge him based in his CL and Intl appearances.

In England, he'd already be a headliner, because every match he played would be THE SHOW

Time for Arsenal to stress the fact they play in THE headline league, when it comes to signing players

In England, Cazorla gets sponsorship deals

I don't see Malaga, Valencia, Lazio, Roma players flooding the sponsorship headlines. In another country, he'd be another midfielder

The best Pogba can do in Italy is make it to Madrid or Barca. In other words, he's topped out in Italy.

In England, he can be a legend now. He can penetrate the American, African and Asian markets in a big way.

When Pogba grew up the Serie A was where it was at. That's not the case anymore. Juve is a special club. And maybe he wins a CL there. But let's face it, while all the world celebrates Bergkamp, only the football lovers celebrate Nedved. Both won equally in their time at their clubs.

England is where it's at. Want to be a hero at 22. Play in the PL.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Jun 2014 20:57:29
Pogba is my favorite midfielder; he's a true complete midfielder-- can make great tackles, accurate passes, and long distance ripper-daddies

Agree0 Disagree0

He's not going to be cheap.

from recent figures close to 70 mill euros, its just not justified on a CDM.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2014 21:51:12
I would sacrifice a couple of our needs to get Pogba if it meant getting by with Jenks and bellerin and Remy being our star' striker then so be it 60mil well spent imo!

Agree0 Disagree0

Great post! Would love Pogba to play for us - big, powerful, technically brilliant and still young.
I'm with you on this matter, spend what it takes to get him, if he's available. If Lakerville's figure of about £55million is right, then I'd pay it. If he's stays for 10 years, money well spent. if we sell him, we'll make most our money back.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2014 11:47:32
I posted a question a while back asking folk on here if they'd take a straight swap, Pogba for Ozil. From memory, the only response was from ed002, shooting me down. Any takers now, for that swap? It was only then that I truly felt like a part of this page, my first sarcastic shut down from ed002. 😆

I would love to see Cesc in the Red and White shirt again

I think we would need to sell a midfielder though - I would say Jack but he has age on his side, a home grown player plus a Gooner. I would have to sell Santi.

To maximise sale value - he needs a good WC and no one has to know we need to sell.

Dont really want to sell him but we need if we get Cesc.

We can then get a proper winger rather than pushing Santi out wide.

This gives us more balance for the big games and we have a midfield who can keep possession and play killer balls

Thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sell Flamini/Arteta and possibly Rosicky. Would be sad to see him go though.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2014 21:44:57
It's got to be Santi everytime, we wouldn't miss him as much as people think. Cesc would be a significant upgrade.

Seems to be a lot of talk about us going for both Balotelli and the reasonably priced other bloke with Poldolski making way for them!
How true who knows but talk about whether to laugh or cry :-) Arsene must read this page and want to keep us all happy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Jun 2014 19:17:46
Gunner62. Mate I would hate to let Podolski walk. I think that would be a major mistake.

Agree0 Disagree0

I love Poldolski Golds and how much he loves us but he needs to be pert of a two man strike force that we don't play. Imo he doesn't have the pace or the work rate to be our sole striker
By the way mate I will give you a call around 11.am tomorrow if that's ok? Dags is going to meet up with us too, so we can book a tablet in the name of Dirk Dagala for next Monday mate :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2014 21:56:16
Goldboy I still never thought he got a decent shot at being striker! Lethal finisher but just not build to be a winger in our system more of a LF so he's not constantly covering for our LB bombing forward.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2014 22:37:17
Podolski reminds me of Pires, less skillful but more direct, but like pires, not sure if he can play upfront.

That said, he has a great scoring record for Germany, (47 in 116 I think).

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2014 00:02:24
To be fair Dags he has a great scoring record for us.

Hey golds saw your post down there. I'm with Jenny Taylor on Rooney, when I saw him in that commercial I thought this guy isn't even on the same planet as these players. I don't think there's a more overrated athlete in all of sports.

Regarding the Gerrard comment, have you gone mad? If he isn't playing well it's bc Roy is in over his head. I haven't watched England play as I'm a "murican", but for me Barkley has to start with sterling and sturridge and either wilshere or Henderson. I honestly believe there hasn't been a more
Impressive winger in England than sterling this season.

Anyways, good luck to you guys in the World Cup. I've been watching rocky marathons like crazy to make myself believe we have a chance of making it out of the group. We made Nigeria look pretty bad though!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If fit I'd like to see
Hart
Johnson Cahill Jagelka Baines
Ox Gerrard Henderson
Lallana. Sterling
Sturridge

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2014 19:21:02
I don't rate Gerrard in an England shirt anymore. Sorry mate. He is nowhere as bad as Rooney but I feel we could do a lot better.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2014 20:47:33
Gerrard's leadership is going to be needed. G62 I really like that lineup.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2014 17:06:33
We could get the following signings:

Mario Balotelli
Hulk
Loic Remy
Antoine Griezmann

With these signings as well as Aurier and a great goal keeper to compete with Sczensy as well as a CDM like Morgan Schneiderlin. I would consider that to be a successful transfer and we can compete with the best of the best but the hulk thing doesn't seem to be that concrete.

What do you think?

Ross

Believable0 Unbelievable0

remy, griezmann, Schneiderlin, Aurier and Goalie plus centre half

Sy4 are you copying me? Lol only joking mate, I think you have always said the same 4 as me.

Great minds think alike.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we are to add more than 3 players then I think they heed EPL experience to minimise risk and adjustment period

We need to help our defence more, inject pace and goals

DG - same page as you and I thought Remy would already be a gooner by now

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2014 18:56:19
Absolutely SY4 but Arsene never rushes, annoyingly.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not content with just being the Dagala you have now tied SY up in a cupboard and assumed his identity too I see, all for what? Remy! Get a hold of yourself man and free the real SY immediately, this kidnapping thing really does have to stop Dags, no really it does :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2014 20:41:58
G62,

I am the man with many names.

DG, Dags and Dagala.

Mate, even I get confused sometimes, lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm going to call Golds in the morning mate to arrange next Monday's meet up, I deffinately think we should book a table in the name of Mr Dirk Dagala, let's see who can keep a straight face when they say have you booked! :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2014 07:24:25

Hold up, I was Outback with a capital O, until the post you replied to above, ed001. What on earth is going on? Am I being replaced? Is this like those sci fi movies where you bring in a replicant of me? Are you Aliens, Eds?

I was Outback first, if anyone should have to lose the capital, it should be the imposter. In fact, he or she should just bloody find another name, bloody copycat! But this is all part of your plan to take over the earth, isn't it Alien Eds?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - apologies mate, Ed033 was testing part of his plan to take over the world using clones. He decided to start the test with you, as he felt you were the least likely to notice there were two of you. At least you can take solace in being the first to go when it all kicks off......

08 Jun 2014 15:58:56
Out of Balotelli, Martinez and Mandzukic Balotelli looks the most promising. If Benzema becomes available we will be interested with the fee at 40m. We have Remy as a back up plan secured for us finalise if we want.

Serge Aurier looks set to join, we're looking at another midfielder still to play as a deep lying playmaker or DM/Box to Box and a GK. Ruddy for example is being looked at and some reports claim we have had a bid rejected already, another story reads there is interest in Casillias.

Newspapers round up.

08 Jun 2014 14:14:27
These may seem like silly questions but it's something I've always thought about and wondered if an Ed had Ed002 in particular in mind could clear them up for me.

1) How does the process of transfer listing a player work? Does the club alert other clubs that they are looking to sell a player, or is the player and their agent are told they are being listed and then they have to take the initiative in finding a new club?

2) What is the currency of football, the papers always give nice rounded of figures in £s but as most of Europe use the euro I always though that would be the currency use during the transfer process.

3) How do players and their agents become aware of interest other clubs may have in them and get an idea of the kind of contract that could get without violating the rules?

4) If a club is interested in signing a player how do they go about finding out if the player would be interested in joining them, and then brokering a deal? Do they simply ring the club a player is at and say we are interested in buying x how much will that cost?

Thanks in advance for any answers to these questions.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - (1) In some countries there is. Clubs will say that they are willing to listen to offers and agents will hawk players around - but most often enquires come from clubs via agents or direct whether a player is available or not. A list is maintained of all out of contract and released players. (2) Except for intra-UK transfers, euro is the main currency. South America used to always use US$ but the largest market, Brazil, has switch to euro. (3) Clubs and agents talk to each other - sometimes with intermediaries. (4) Clubs will typically informally ask an agent (a) if the player is going to be available, and (b) would the player consider a move to the club. There may be some broad discussion on the sort of deal that would be offered. If the answer is yes, it is then necessary for the club to approach the player's club to ask if they would be willing to sell and if they would grant permission to speak to a player's agent and possibly even the player about actually making a move. This will typically involve either broadly (through an offer) or actually agreeing a fee and responsibility for any significant costs (agents fees etc.). Once this has happened the club will be able to speak to the player's agent and perhaps the player himself to look at the package that will be involved. Many players are looked at and discussed at a high-level with agents and clubs; a subset of those have an offer placed; a subset of those involve discussions with the player's club; a subset of those involve discussions over terms, and; a subset of those go ahead.}

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated :).

Dispite the atrocious treatment he received from both the press and the FA Sir Bobby Robson said after loosing the England job
" if ever my country was to call again I would answer that call without question "
Sir Bobby felt he was serving his country as England manager rather than the other way round, I get the feeling Roy Hodgson is cut from the same cloth as Sir Bobby.
I'm so pleased he got the job and not harry

Thanks mate,, re= your L.F.C. post, I did reply but as yet it hasen't made it through. If on arrival you find it's Karajoke night, I fear your all in for the long haul!

Not much to talk about regarding Arsenal transfer activity, but alas Arsene appears to be shopping from the Top Shelf .

1) Remy Martini
2) Tia Dia Maria, and to a lesser extent
3) Asti Cavani Spumante

I applied for a job as a lion tamer years ago.

I turned up for the trial, but so did this beautiful blonde girl.

The trainer said to us, "I will warn you, this lion is ferocious, he ate the last lion tamer, good luck, who wants to go first"?.

The beautiful woman went first, but forgot the chair and whip.

The lion charged at her, but she opened her coat to reveal an amazing body.

The lion stopped in its tracks, looked at her, than started licking her body, than nestled its head in her breasts.

The lion tamer, amazed, said to me, "Can you do that"?.

I said, " Yes of course, but get the lion out first".

So kisses if you are female and "Alright mate" if your a geezer . LOL

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have heard this word "geezer" before so I didn't need to look it up. It is the sort of term the chaps call each other when they are out having a pint of wallop with their chums.}

This is my take on the Ed002 male/female debate, I have heard the other Eds refer 002 as he so I I think geeza for sure but with my record of getting stuff right you can put your money on 02 being a woman.
Regardless of what ever sex Ed002 is they remain a very well respected and vital part of this sites success, plus by far the scariest Ed by a distance :-) I'm ever so slightly even a little apprehensive posting this!

hi ed, are we going to leave it really late again? :( any idea who we are trying to get at RB? I really hope for serge aurier, any idea on the likely hood and his price? I would also like to see fabian schar or similar reasonably priced CB any chance of us getting decent cover at CB? I would hope we finally get a top quality marquee striker, anyone likely? personally really hoping for benzema, although I gather that is reliant on them landing suarez, any idea if they will? personally I feel those 3 or similar would make us much stronger next season, if we buy a midfielder before them I think I will cry! having said that if we did land them and had money left to get dimaria/griessman/pedro I would be really satisfied as i'm really worried about walcotts injuries. except i'm sure I've drifted in to dream land! on a related note, why do we get so many injuries? just seriously unlucky or something?
thanks for any help you can give eden

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The transfer window has yet to open. Aurier is one of the players Arsenal has been in discussions over. We don't discuss money Eden. As for the forwards, I provided a long summary a day or two back - you should read that.}

You could see Jacks agenda in this game tonight. It was get on the pitch but keep out of the way. I couldn't believe the commentator when he said " This has been a good workout for.England " what the hell is he talking about? Honduras!? in a friendly? Anyhow England were embarrassing again. Rooney was his normal obvious due to being absent. Tell me why Rooney is out there please.? I really need to know. I couldn't even say we are really preparing for the Euros as we seem do far off the mark it's a joke. Gerrard has just shown his face on the TV moaning again. He's another one. what's he doing in the England squad.? I'm going to bed now guys I've seen enough. Good night.

Your opinions are great.
Sorry to start this all over again, but Jack (alongside Barkley) changed the game, gave us an attacking threat. To say he went out there and tried to keep out of the way is personic at best.

I would bring fabregas back and get rid of wilshere in a heartbeat.why.because i'm not an englishman and can see it for what it is, wilshere has "topped out" and believes the hype the english press has bestowed on him.the truth is he is in danger of becoming another waster.scholes was right

Hehe I hear you mate.

Just a discussion, Gold, just find your opinions very hard to comprehend. I suppose everyone can't be right ay ;)
(ps Ed - why does one of the eds keep changing the word 'personic', in two posts to the word personic)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The Eds don't do it it's a swear filter. We don't want the site to degenerate into pages of expletives and childish name calling, it's not nice to read and shows a lack of basic language skills, so some words are automatically changed. The site is here to allow people to discuss Arsenal and football without being abused and called all sorts of names just for having an opinion.}

Anyone watching this England game? I hope they kept the engine running on the plane that flew the team out there. Amateur to say the least in my opinion. Again Rooney? What the hell is he about absolute rubbish.

Mate, I didn't watch it, too busy writing my jokes routine.

Heard it was terrible and the most entertaining bit was when all the players came off because of the storm.

Why are my posts never put on this forum, call yourselves gooner family yet like to dicktate the posts that pass (prob because you eddys don't know jack) good bye and remove me from here as it ain't worth my energy to do it myself!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I appreciate that I deleted both of your posts because they were abusive about the club and the board. Whilst I am sad about losing such a wonderful contributor, I can't help but think it is such a pity that your father wasn't as much of a wanker as you clearly are.}

Well said Ed002, on behalf of the other users on this page I'd like to thank you for your continued running and contribution to this page!

Ed02. What is a pineapple? and can we all use that word now. If it means that somebody is not very good? I would like to say that Wayne Rooney is a very big one. Thank You. :)

Poor old GoonerMal. Got a red card. Just because he is supposed to be a coach driver. Now I don't claim to be in the know but i'm guessing that it could give the guy a complex. What he does in private is surely his business. Anyone else want to confess. Now come on! own up . LOL

Lol Golds,

personally, I think we should be allowed one swear word each per week, lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont play God Edd, everyone should be entitled to voice their opinion. There are a lot of fans out there that have been unhappy with the boards performance for a good many years.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - His entire posting career was two posts five minutes apart that got rejected because they were abusive - an hour later he sends the above. Now we get this "don't play god" post from crap from some idiot who has not idea what the poster said.}

Ed02. Why don't you kick him up the Niagras or better still up the pineapples. Ha Ha

Love that ed, I know I can be a pain in the arse sometimes and a bit argumentative had a few posts blocked understandably in my time on here but I have a lot of respect for what you do and for sticking up for the integrity of your work
