I don't get this formation we are trying to play it just doesn't make much sense to me given the players we have in our ranks.

Our most successful era and the invincibles played a 4-4-1-1 but had a lot of fluidity with our right and left wing and top 2 with the mercurial Bergkamp as a number 10.

Why we are incessant on playing a DMF and 2 CM's I don't know.

We have Ozil who has the vision and touch of Bergkamp, perhaps doesn't have the burst of speed that Bergkamp once had over 5 yards or the strength Bergkamp had but he can play the balls Bergkamp did.

We now have a striker with speed in Welbeck which is what Bergkamp had ahead of him and what Ozil had at Real Madrid.

We are currently wasting our best play maker playing him out wide so we can flood the midfield.

During our most successful era we played 2 in midfield a box to box in Vieira and a deep lying midfielder in Petit and latterly Gilberto.

So why this insistence on playing 3 in the middle especially when one is not quick enough across the ground and its not a natural position. Arteta!

Our two best central players are Ramsey and Wilshere there in lies an issue are we seeing the England team issue where Lampard and Gerrard could never play together well as they were both box to box in their pomp? Can Jack be converted to sitting deeper breaking up play like Woy sees him doing for England? Ramsey has the better engine so I would prefer to see him as the box to box and Jack sit deeper.

Return to a 4-4-1-1 with Alexis and Walcott wide but they need to know they have to track back as well which Alexis does.

Play Ozil in the hole let him do what we signed him to do, create chances.

Football is a ruthless business yes business and do you think Mourinho or Fergie would have persisted with this for as long as Wenger has? I don't they are ruthless and change the weaknesses they see In the team regardless of ego's or reputations.

I don't want Wenger out but I would like to see him show some of that footballing nouse he has. His stubbornness is his own downfall over the past decade excluding last years FA Cup.

Playing Ozil out wide is like playing with one hand behind our backs. He can do a job but not as good as Podolski or the Ox could with Walcott currently out.

The question is does he do as I say above when Walcott is back as I don't see Ozil playing wide over Alexis and or Walcott as they both possess pace. Does he drop Ramsey or Wilshere for Ozil I can't see it as they can both tackle better than Ozil and are box to box players.

The way we are set up we have no place for what could be argued is our best weapon when played in position. Ozil could become a £42m sub the way we are set up when Walcott returns to the team and yes I think its a full gone conclusion he is a starter once fit.

Welbeck, Walcott and Alexis with Ozil in the hole behind has the potential to be a scary problem for our opponents. Its just to two CM's behind that are an issue as neither of our best two are natural sitters and Arteta and Flamini are not of a required standard.

I could go on but that's more than enough sorry for the long post guys needed airing as its driving me mad.

1.) After watch the games last night ( Man City Chelsea and there opposition) what I noticed is this, all teams who play a possession passing game play in triangles, but everyone else plays in triangles that are about 10 feet wider than ours, meaning we pass close together so it's easier to contain and close down, when you expand your triangled passing you open up the play more, creating more space, but what do I know!

My predicted line up for Citeh game today. I would however prefer to see Arteta dropped, Wilshere drop into Arteta's position and have the Ox play where I have Wilshere.

We cry out for power in the middle of the field and have a beast like the Ox in the squad.

A midfield of Wilshere, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ramsey has energy, strength, pace, technique and an eye for a pass. Ok it might not have masses of experience but it has enthusiasm which can often make up for a lack of experience. Got to do it eventually as I see that as our future midfield you only get experience from playing there

Decent shout Andy but still think we need a young, tough tackling ball winner.

2.) How how howww are you blokes viewing the teams? Every time I try I get select your team which I've done already.
This is soooooo not fair ON ME!
I want to play, please let me, I've got sweets

3.) Arteta has filled in as a holding mid with great professionalism, no complaints about being played out of position and has done his best but he needs to replaced as he is now detrimental to the way the team needs to play.

He has lost his pace and cannot cover back, he gives away free kicks in dangerous places and continually slows down the play when we are on a break. The ball comes to him and as others break forwards he always looks for a square or more often a back pass allowing the opposing defenders to get back in numbers leaving us to try and break down a well organized defense which we currently seem incapable of doing.

I know it sound like a broken record, but we need to bring in world class quality in the following positions CB, CDM and CF if we really want to challenge Citeh and Chelski.

Banter please Ed's

So the summer is coming and we are all waiting with baited breath for the transfer season to start.

With a WC happening deals will be late in the window and I don't see many deals across the whole of Europe due to the WC.

So let's just say we don't sign any first team players (it could happen *sighs*)

How would you like to see us line up with what we have if we have a fully fit squad, as I don't think we need a lot, unless our perennial injury jinx hits again.

Sczeszny

Mertesacker - Koscielny - Sagna - Gibbs

Flamini

Oxlade-Chamberlain - Ramsey

Gnabry - Ozil - Podolski

Walcott

That team has the thing we have been missing this year and that is pace, which forces teams to defend deeper, which in turn allows us to play the possession football we are renowned for. Has power in the middle with the Ox and an engine with Ramsey.

1.) Playing 12 players every match we would have no excuse not running the league :)

2.) I make that 13 players :-) surely we don't need to bend the rules that much to win a major trophy people or do we? :-)

3.) Somebody can't count, G62!

4.) Your right NE oooops, I make that mistake a lot confusing feet and inches, been a lot of disappointed women over the years I can tell you

5.) Lol, G62

6.) Haha yeah I put an extra player in DOH!

Well if people bend the FFP i'm sure we could bend the number on the field!

7.) I was meant to leave Flamini out thought I deleted his name my bad take him out!

Chavski drawing, just watched the North London wannabes get beat and booed off the pitch well what do they expect no class no clue. Citeh currently losing and then the main course later today bring it on! As long as we put in a good show for ourselves i'm a happy bunny now where did I put that bottle opener!

So at some point in most likely the near future (next 3 years) Wenger is going to step down from manager of the club and take on a new role within the Arsenal family. With that said who would we like as a replacement?

Do we go unrealistic and go for Guardiola who I personally think hasn't proved himself. now wait before you jump down my throat. He inherited a great squad at Barcelona and in fairness anyone could have managed them to the success they achieved with him as they were by far the best team in the world at that time. With his move to Bayern he has inherited arguably the best team in Europe at present as was seen this past week where they made Man City look like sunday league players at times.

Then there is Mourinho who I personally don't want near my club as I think he is a disruptive influence an goes to club for 3 -4 years spends a tonne of money and then says bye.

Then there is the romantics among us who say Bergkamp, Adams et al. Not for me in a coaching role all day long but not as the top dog they haven't got the experience.

I have 4 managers in my mind at present with a bit of a romantic edge on 1 of them.

First choice Jürgen Klopp for me looks to have the same values and beliefs that Wenger and Arsenal share. He is not afraid to invest in youth and likes a fluid passing game.

Second Choice Antonio Conte he has proved himself all be it in a weaker Italian set up but has dropped down leagues to learn and craft his trade winning Serie B with Bari that led to his move to Atlanta where he got found wanting and moved to Sienna winning them promotion to Serie A. This led him to Juventus where he has won the Scudetto.

Third choice Frank De Boer who has the dutch mentality of passing flowing football and has grown up as a player and manager with Ajax as everyone knows famed for their excellence in producing talent. He was touted as a potential Liverpool manager but wanted to continue to learn and craft his trade at Ajax.

Fourth choice and the romantic element Steve Bould. He has learnt and crafted his trade with Arsenal coming up through the junior team management and knows what Arsenal want inside and out and is currently learning from the best we have ever had in Wenger.

Just some thoughts let me know yours

Andy MK Gooner

1.) You can add Diego Simone and Remi Garde to that list. :)

2.) Bergkamp.

3.) If Jurgen Klopp was out of the picture, I genuinely believe Michael Laudrup would suit you guys down to the ground. Guy has a lot of class, and with a couple more years in the game at Swansea believe he will be ready to make the step.

4.) I think stojkovic will be on the short list from grampus 8

5.) No disrespect to big Tony because he was a fantastic player captain and as brave loyal and committed as anyone could ever ask anyone to be.

But to hear his name even mentioned romantically or in other way when talking about Asenes successor make me shudder.

I saw and worse still HEARD enough at Portsmouth to frighten me for the rest of time.
Sorry Tony love the bloke but terrified of the manager

6.) Klopp or Laudrup. Maybe even Martinez depending on how he does at Everton. Don't want Garde or the Serb bloke whose supposedly wenger's mentor.

7.) Er, Original AG, Wenger is HIS Mentor and has been for years! Stojkovic was always seen by Arsene as his successor but he was offered the No. 2 job here a number of years ago and turned it down so now it's not nailed on. I agree that if Klopp continues to do amazing things at BVB and Laudrup continues his success at Swansea they are very much in the running. Martinez? - don't make me laugh.

8.) Ozil 24 Ramsey's 22 Gibbs 24; and no need to use the P word when talking about them now, Wilshere Ox Theo Jenkinson are all within touching distance so don't see Arsene going any where in next 5 to 7 years he's waited to long to not enjoy the fruits of his work.
By then we could be talking about completely new candidates or have our own home grown

9.) I think michael laudrup is proving to be a very good manager. I like him because he just let's his team do the talking. my choice everytime. I admire mourinho but at same time he always tries to be bigger than the club he is managing. and his teams play a bit too defensive for my liking (although to be fair he has won champs league twice by playing defensively and stifling the opposition)

10.) I wouldn't mind seeing Prandelli, especally if that came with the signing of ballotelli

For me it has to be 15th May 2004.

Sitting in the West Stand watching history be made, knowing that it will be forever remembered. Then working my way from towards the back of the lower stand to the front and getting to touch hands with many of that great squad as they celebrated. Still chanting, singing and celebrating long after the game finished
