Not stating its true but the Guardian are reporting Higuain is after all set to complete. He is now reporting the Higuain deal is done 3 years 100k per week. At this rate though 'who knows' but Lowe is good.

(Sid Lowe) reliable journo.

It was posted by the Guardian at 11:30pm. Another twist.

Believe it when i see it

Saw Sid Lowe on espn press pass friday night saying RM want a little more money but deal will be done soon.

2.) I'd doubt we'd sign a player of his quality on a 3 year deal, because if we did we'd have to renew his contract next summer under our new contract policy

3.) I agree, if it is in the Guardian, then it is worth repeating.

4.) If Higuain was going to sign for Arsenal it would have been done already.

5.) I do believe he will sign but its just typical arsenal dragging their feet. I just find it strange that no other clubs are in for him leading me to believe that the deal has been done but just not announced. Either that or it's just not going to happen and arsene wenger is being a complete a*** nal

Kent Gooner

6.) To the poster who said about signing a player on a three year contract.

We got Theo to sign a three year contract in January.

Obviously you'd want Higuain on a long term (5 year) contract but wouldn't you rather he just signed?!

If it is for three years then we renegotiate next summer after he's banged goals in for fun and won us a trophy. We then raise his salary from £100k to say £115-£125k a week when we are even stronger financially and in line with FFP.

Bottom line. Just get him on board!

Greeny

7.) Fully agree with Greeny as long as we get the player signed up we can give him a new improved contract when we want. He will sign though we should just wait and be patient, any deals to be done i. e. Fellaini, Grenier, Higuain and Cesar will be sped up to try and have these players in the first team before our tour. Wenger wants his new additions to have a full pre-season with the club and their new teammates.

8.) We didn't pay 23 million for theo though surely we won't pay all that transfer fee for just a 3 year contract

Firstly, the story on Barry is coming from the Star. Why does this make it automatically true.
What annoys me is when the press print story's like 'Arsenal in for Higuain' or 'Arsenal in for Fellaini' EVERYONE DOUBTS IT!

When the print negative story's like Barry people believe it and slate Wenger, the Board etc, everyone has the right to criticise but atleast be consistent or at minimum at least don't slate the squad based on transfer garbage in the Star. Bids and Enquiries are concrete on: Rooney, Higuain, Bedner and 'apparently' Suarerz (according to the Eds here) to whom I have no reason to doubt) So we have changed our policy and we are willing to spend. It will take time though AW will still like a bargain and if clubs know what we have available financially then we will be priced out so the negotitations will take some amount of time.

Chill the nerves, take a vallium, put the feet up and let what happens happen.

Also, please lay off the signing of Sanogo, we have lost a lot of fringe / squad / youth players and they will all need replacing, some of the comments towards Sanogo have been utterly embarrassing and anyone criticising him because he isn't Higuian or Rooney should be completely ashamed and hang their heads. You are the same 'fans' who will say 'I knew he was class' if he does well.

Part pooping moment: Also the 'Audacious Stunt' today is the unveiling of a massive banner outside the Emirates with the current squad in the new kit, I have seen images of it being put up last night.

My take on the Suarez 'rubbish'.

Lads, do not believe the Suarez tripe.

In my honest opinion, no bid has happened nor will it. It is not a warning to Madrid the story is literally 'nothing'. All they are doing is trying to fill the pages, they had nothing new on Higuain, Rooney or Fellaini today so they needed to get their Arsenal fix somewhere.

People are saying it's a warning or 'tactic' to Madrid, that's rubbish.

If Madrid are holding for more cash for Higuain (i. e. 30m) this doesn't send a warning, just proves to them right that we can afford to pay the 30m, hence why I believe it is complete and utter bollox. And I simply cannot see Wenger signing someone who will miss the first 6 or 7 games or has a poor attitude. Reasons like this is why we never signed the likes of Barton, Melo or Mvilla, AW doesn't like players with massive egos or bad attitudes.
If there is any truth in this, I beleive this is only a tactic to take the media attention away whilst we wrap up Higuain.

P. S. Happy Monday, let us hope Higuain to Arsenals confirmed tomorrow, I personally think it will be. Although we are spending we will not miss a marketing opportunity. Imaginer unveiling the shirt tomorrow with Higuain and Higuain holding aloft the new short with #20 (Sales will be through the roof) {Ed052's Note - Arsenal did indeed bid for Suarez}

Believe it when i see it

1.) 08 Jul 2013 09:56:04
Well it does prove they are willing to spend 30 million but at the same time it says if we were to forced to spending more money we would maybe use it on another target.

2.) 08 Jul 2013 10:05:05
According to who though? The Times?

3.) 08 Jul 2013 13:05:02
i do believe there is some truth to it mate.

not sure if the 30mill bid was a starting bid, but if you can imagine suarez and higuain upfront, I think we would have the second best forward line in the world behind messi and neymar, even rvp and rooney would not match us.

two players with supreme movement, both players have very high conversion rates, and even if we were to spend 40mill on suarez and 25 mill on higuain, it would be not only a signal of intent, but we would be downright favourites to win the title.

im aware this it is arsenal, where dreams signings rarely come true, but I think for another 5 weeks, we can afford to dream, as that is what the transfer window does.

if its a tactic to push real's hand, it was worth the shove, but if it is to actually sign the player and then also get their player.

real are left with the last standing option. get gareth bale. and that suits us just fine.

wenger has to be aware, lewandowski is going to go on a free to bayern, cavani is joining psg, falcao at monaco, perhaps ibrahimovic to madrid?

the striker market it getting thin. gomez, damiao, jovetic, soldado remain. I would not want to spend over 18 mill on any of these. let's hope we get higuain.

Lads, just wondering if you know if this is true?

Been reading in a few places that Fellaini has a £24m release clause (Which we all know anyway) - this only applies to Champions League clubs & 'apparently' it expires in mid-August.

This would explain a lot especially form an AFC perspective, i. e. go in for him in late in the window.

Believe it when i see it

1.) When the release clause expires, Everton will put his price up not down. Derrrrr!

WG

2.) Doesn't that mean that we would have to wait to get past the play offs before a deal can be finalised. Don't know if that sounds stupid, I love Arsenal but we are not yet in the champions league

Anyone else see the quote in Higuains Agents interview today:

"Napoli are a strong side and that place represents a lot for Argentines. "

"Saying that, I can't deny that Gonzalo is now close to Arsenal. "

Is he making an attempt to force a bid from Napoli i. e. a potential swap with Cavani.

Not trying to be negative lads, just seeing what others make of this, hopefully I am blowing it out of proportion or its misinterpreted, if so apologies.

Believe it when i see it

1.) I totally agree mate. It would be hard to take if we missed out on him now, as I don't think we will find as good a finished product available on the market

People can say whatever they want about Wenger, Gazidas etc, but there is NO WAY this deal will fail over a paltry 400k fee. We ain't that stupid!! Believe it when you see it 'officially' and stop relying on rags.

With Serge Aurier being pictured in an Arsenal shirt I personally reckon Sagna will leave this summer. Although Aurier posted a photo of himself in an Arsenal shirt and I know this could be nothing but why would you post a picture of yourself in a different teams shirt during transfer time?

If Sagna goes he will be sorely missed he has been a goood servant for us and is probably the most consistant RB in the PL over the past decade.

Meh - Another ridculous Wenger bashing post based on the Sanogo deal.

Transfer window is a day in (Not even 48 hours), we have signed Sanogo, we have 'Officially' bid for Higuain, and Bedner and made an enquiry on Rooney and if rumours are to be believed we have done the same on Fellaini and made an offer and Cesar should be done soon. So guys calm the f* down.

We lost a lot of fringe and youth players, they need to be replaced too. It is obvious there is a change of policy in our transfer activity so leave the bitching till August, not every player we can't forget youth.
