The Evening standard are reporting that Bergkamp is being considered for the Swansea job. My mate works for the Telegraph online and has said this is something Swansea are genuinely looking into.
Step One in getting Dennis back to the Emirates is in action! He's doing incredibly well at the moment, getting Ajax back to playing classic Dutch football.
The only issue is his fear of flying, if he were to return to Arsenal at some point then he would have to travel by road again.
Anyway, if he does return to the Prem cannot wait to welcome him to the Emirates.

Paul

1.) I don't know how I'd feel about Swansea owning the contract for God -:) I so want him back in the Arsenal set up in any way. It would be interesting to see how he coaches in the EPL, this would be good to see.

2.) 06 Feb 2014 18:44:17
Dream ticket Bergkamp and Henry in 3 or 4 with Wenger there in the back ground as an advisor

3.) The welcome he would receive would shake The Emirates down to its very foundations.

The way I understand our potential signings:

Vucinic 6 month loan is agreed and ready to be done IF Juve sign Osvaldo from Southampton

Draxler will happen in the summer OR he could be allowed to leave now IF they get in a replacement, they're trying to get Holtby on loan but Spurs (having learnt from handing us Ozil) would prefer to let him go to Fulham.

It'll certainly be an interesting final 2 days!

I've been told Arsenal will only submit an offer for Rooney if they are invited to (by Rooney's reps), basically if there is an indication he'd want to join. This has come from a coach at the club (not senior team). I trust what he says.

Paul

1.) An offer was already submitted to Rooney a week or so ago.

2.) I'm not sure but the impression I get is that the following order of events happen (just my impression based on other transfers - inlcuding higuin)

1) The Club contact the agent (or visa versa) to see if the player is interested in palying for the club (or if the club are interested in the player)

2) discussions are had between the club and agent to see if in principle the figures are possible or even in the ball park, of being agreeable to all parties

3) only after 1 & 2 will the potential new club will speak to the new club and but in a bid.

Hence there may have been an offer put to Rooney/his agent but if that is no where near then no bid will be made.

I think that makes sence

From a very reliable source, we have a shortlist of strikers:

1. Higuain
2. Jovetic
3. Villa
4. Benteke
5. Dzeko

I believe it's in that order too for preference.
Looks like the budget is set at around £20m.
On top of a striker we'll bring in a midfielder (my God what I'd do for it to be Cesc) and a 'keeper.

Personally I'd like Benteke- proven in the Prem, young, strong and has a good work ethic. I'm never too confident on players coming in from La Liga.

I will consider it to be a good summer if we sign one of those strikers, Cesc, a true defensive midfielder, a goalkeeper with pedigree (not a youngster, a backup to keep Sir on his toes) and a pacey left winger to give us a plan B - have Cazorla play in the middle with a defensive mid, Theo on the right and go 4-4-2.

One thing is certain - we have to move quickly, with new managers coming in with money, as soon as one cheque book is opened there will be a domino effect.

Paul

1.) I don't believe Benteke is on the radar at all.

2.) 1. jovetic and/or 2. higuain

3.) Ask your source if we are in for one or two strikers as the chances of Gervinho leaving are forever escalating and we have a shipment of mediocre players to release from our club.

4.) 'A true defensive midfielder in Cesc Fabregas' pretty much destroys any chance of you knowing what you are on about. And Benteke is a no, against Higuain? Lay of the sauce mate

Baggins

5.) If you want to go four four two, and you want to play Cazorla in the middle with a holder, where do you wish to put Cesc? and what would you do with a certain Mr Wilshere, Not criticising just interested in your favoured line-up?

6.) Cazorla in the middle is suicide

442 means your midfielders have to be a combination of positionally aware and tough tackling. Look at the classic combinations: vieira/gilberto, scholes/keane, etc.

he would be just fine on the left. To me, he's been the true Bobby Pires successor anyway. The player we should have bought as soon as Na$ri effed off

7.) He is best through the middle where he can roam shot and feed through intricate passes. He like Nasri play best as CAM's

8.) Cesc and the defensive midfielder were supposed to be 2 different people I think.

Either way, it seems like there could be too many central attacking midfielders and not enough defense.

9.) As previously commented, the comma meant Cesc And a true defensive midfielder AND a goalkeeper etc.

I really believe a striker who has already flourished in this league is a better choice than one from Spain: so yes, Benteke over Higuain.

10.) Playing Cazorla through the middle would not be suicide against the right team. I agree, against a physical side it wouldn't make sense. However, as a plan B, switching to 4-4-2 and creating width with pace on both wings make a lot of sense.
We haven't had that option for a long time

11.) So with this wonderful idea of yours what happens to the likes of wilshire, ramsey and podolski?

12.) Apologies, I forgot wilshere, Ramsey and podolski were fit every week and required zero rest. Our squad depth is very shallow, players who have played over 80% of our games this season are looking tired.

Paul

13.) I'm not convinced about Higuian at all - every time I've seen him play he's been less than impressive - but I can't say I've seen a lot of him. Any la liga addicts give us a better summary of what he's like week in, week out?

Zither

14.) Rather have dzeko, wenger wanted him before he went to city

15.) Baggins didn't they teach you what commas were at school? next time you are desperate to pour scorn on someone just pause and read what they've written. There is no evidence this poster thinks Cesc is a "true defensive midfielder" and he used the correct grammar to express what he really meant.
Saying that I'd be surprised if we made these signings, Dan

Previous transfer windows have shown us that there can be one transfer which kicks off a chain reaction, which in recent windows has resulted in Wenger proving that patience pays off.

This is how I see this one going (I don't think Giroud's injury has affected this at all) and it will go right up to the end of the transfer window.

Madrid selling Di Maria to free up funds to buy Falcao, a no longer required Benzema moving to PSG who will sell Cavani to Arsenal.

That would mean -
Spurs sell Bale to help us buy Ozil
Liverpool sell Suarez to help us buy Sanchez
Man Utd buy Di Maria to help us buy Cavani

Paul

{Ed027's Note - Benzema signed a new deal, he's definately still required. I'm sure he would of known about the possibility of Falcao arriving before he signed on

1.) We will never cough up for Cavani, our big spending has been and gone

Does anyone know if we're in talks with Bayern over Schweinsteiger? I have a feeling he could be coming.

Paul

{Ed002's Note - Is it a damp feeling?}

1.) Best. Reply. Ever.

So Sterling gets a red.

If the ref puts it in his match report he gets a 3 match ban, as does Valencia. Will one game be served next friendly? It depends how that match is arranged but it should count as one. He'll then miss our first two group games.

Does anyone have any further info on that?

And can Roy drop him from the squad now? If he can should he? 2 games is a lot in a World Cup.

Paul

{Ed025's Note - it does not affect anything in the world cup paul..

Apparently he will miss the office Xmas party, his sons Bar-mitzvah and his Aunty Flora's wedding reception but he's ok football-wise.

Come on Paul, lol.

He's talking about Isco, like he tried previously but ended up claiming it was about Fellaini

We're all heartbroken about Sahin.

Chin up mate, you may be selling your best player but you have Lambert.

Our favourite second club Tottenham have proven that if you sell your best player to a top Spanish club, besides if allowing arsenal to buy one of their best players, it also means you can spend £100m on plenty of average players to fill the void.

Brendan Rodgers has never brought a good player to the club FACT.

Enjoy your European nights, playing twice a week is tough, I predict 6th place for you boys next season.

If I was Liverpool I would persue Lallana, but that's really just due to the different realistic ambitions of the clubs.
If Liverpool compete in more competitions that just the league next season for a change then they'll need quite a few signings.
Liverpool just aren't a big enough name to attract the Cesc's of this world.
