Ospina,, Peruzzi, Nastasic, Schneiderlin, Firmino

Done and Dusted :D

1.) Never happen, that would give AW 7 or 8 signings, if you listen to AW's past comments he is a believer of just 3 or 4 signings

Hi Edds

I think Jackson Martinez could be phenomenal in our line-up and become the new Henry

Can you tell me if we are interested in him and if you think its possible?

Cheers

Wexico Goon

{Ed002's Note - Porto are prepared to cash in on Jackson Martinez with varying degrees of interest from Inter, Arsenal, Napoli, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City, Spurs, Galatasaray, Juventus and Barcelona in recent months. However, whilst Porto will seek his full release clause of 40M euro but would likely need to settle for less (€36M for want of a number). Two bids from Juventus were turned down and Milan baulked at the asking price. This has left Napoli who have spoken with Porto and the player and have "broadly" struck a deal twice - but have struggling to get the detail finalised - and perhaps Spurs who would need to match the Napoli deal. Arsenal is a possibility but the price will not be attractive. Whilst certain parties at Chelsea would like to make a move for the player, someone very influential remains unconvinced. Inter will look to a "creative" financial solution.}

Not convinced about Martinez. he is already 27 and only playing in a weaker league. surely if he was any good he would have attracted more interest when he moved to Europe a few years ago?

2.) Thanks for your informative answer Ed002

Top job :D

Hey Edds

Haven't been on in a while, the transfer windows are too much for me :D

Just read on Football Direct News (Dont know if there credible) That we are extremely interested in G. Rossi of Fiorentina, is there any truth in this do you know?

I think he would be awesome for us!

Thanks Edds

Wexico Goon

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

1.) Cheers Ed002

Might not be a bad call though. A typical Wenger buy, just back from serious injury and not too expensive :)

It has taken me a few hours to get used to the Danny Welbeck signing and found out he runs a little like Thierry Henry, Welbeck could actually turn out to be a good signing and only 23 too!

However I find myself disgusted at the defensive cover or lack of, we now have, I mean what has happened is absolutely ridiculous in my opinion and I don't even think i'm being out of order.

For 3 years now we have been longing for an athletic defensive midfielder, highlighted last year more than ever when getting smashed against big teams numerous times last season. But now we have to endure at least half of a season with the exact same Defensive midfield options. and 1 is now our captain also, both are over 30, 1 can't pass too good, likes getting booked the other passes too slow and moves too slow, both are small in stature and neither of them offer anything to the forward play apart from slowing it down.

Combined with this we also now only have 2 centre backs and even though they formed a formidable partnership last-year, Mertesacker is even slower which was evident at the world cup and Koscienly is also good for a red and odd injury. Both have also played a hell of a lot past 2 years also. Our back up for these is Monreal, who is actually 2nd choice LB behind injury prone Gibbs. and Chambers, who is actually 2nd choice RB and played 3 games at CB in career. oh yea and Debuchy loves a card too!

Debuchy is suspended for our first champions league game against Dortmund and gibbs injured if we pick up an injury to Kos our backline could be Bellerin, Mertesacker, Chambers, Monreal. at the start of the season, its hypothetical but extremely realistic

People i'm sorry for the long post

But I am freaking out

I mean what the **** is going on?

And just to add more to the rubbish sandwich, none of the players know or are happy playing where they are playing

P.S.

Stop playing Ozil out of position

Stop playing Podolski up front

Stop keeping Rosicky on the bench

Stop keeping Campbell on the bench

Stop playing Cazorla center midfield

People have to stop this love affair with Mikel Arteta, you too Mister Arsene Wenger! Sometimes it seems the heart gets in the way of the head. yes he is a lovely chap and has lovely hair and yes he has had a few good years as a Gunner, but realistically he is not a defensive midfielder. not for a top team anyway, he has neither the pace or physicality for that role. yes he helped us out for a couple of years but things have changed. we were broke then and feeding on scraps, now we are not and have to move(and will)forward

I love the guy. as I said lovely chap :D However people who think he is adequate for us are seriously mistaken.

Jenkinson = Huge Gooner and lovely lad. will never be good enough for us. Sorry If I seem harsh but this for me is true

I, regrettably, have to agree. Don't think Arteta and Jenkinson are good enough. I wouldn't mind keeping Arteta however because he's a true leader on and off the field; I just don't think he should get much EPL/CL gametime as he's just not well made for the CDM role unfortunately. As for Jenkinson, I hope he plays well for West Ham, but wouldn't be disappointed if he did left as I think Bellerin will be better than him after this year (some may argue he's better than Jenkinson now)

2.) I agree, while I have the utmost respect for them as proffesionals, who love the club, unfortunately sentimentality has no place in football any more. look at chelsea, lampard arguably their best player in history and cole (all hatred of him aside) probably the best LB in the league for the last 10 years, both given the club great service, neither offered contracts to see out their careers at the club. unfortunately if you want to win things sometimes you have to be ruthless

Hello Eds

After watching the match today and again seeing us lose again mainly due to our lack of a good defensive midfielder. albeit preseason friendly and all.

I also read what Wenger said after and he almost seemed to say we have enough Defensive midfielders. please tell me this is not true and he is pulling our legs!

I can just about deal with Giroud but i'm sorry Arteta is not capable anymore nor has been for 2 years. Wenger needs to stop this love affair with him

Wexico Goon

1.) We lost because lack of DM. 'Cause we scored so many goals but just couldn't keep them out. Got it.

2.) We lost because we couldn't man mark at a free kick

3.) Well actually, you can score 0 goals and not lose. Because we got walked all over in CM by Kongdobia and Bakayoko it inhibited us from playing well.

Much in the same way we got smashed by all of our big rivals at certain points of last season.

4.) Fair point Wex.

Just would caution that it will take more than a DM to get us over the top or any other single signing, it will take the whole team coming together.

We still have good footballers playing there in Flamini/Arteta. Still, am encouraged by the Carvalho rumors, he would look great in the rotation.

Cheers

Hey Edds, I used the glorious search function for past posts an saw Edd01s answer saying we looking for prem loan for Campbell . Was just wondering if you reckon his performances in training and Emirates cup could change Le Boss mind?.

I hope he stays. could be very effective for us

Wexico Goon

{Ed001's Note - knowing Wenger's tendency to be stubborn, you would have to say it is unlikely. Having said that, one of the reasons he will be playing him in preseason is to see if he is ready, so it could happen, just unlikely.}

1.) Nice one Ed001 cheers. Mobility and pace wise he has surely got a lot more to offer than Sanogo

2.) Would arsene have seen joel in a preseason first hand before?

work permit issues surely meant he couldn't be in england, and the long term loans surely meant he was training there?

I think that makes a lot of sense Ed001 and it must be said also that a certain Mister Vieira playing with him helped the team offensively an defensively regardless of exact positions.

The DM role is still vital for sure but like football, it has changed. Similar to CB these days they need to be very comfortable on the ball, passing, etc. So I can see Wenger getting a DM but not a bruiser. He loves Arteta and his game (I don't think he has it anymore ) but i'm sure Wenger is looking at Schneiderlin and thinking he could have a ready made replacement

Its simple really. Jenkinson is not good enough. I like Bellerin but maybe not 2nd choice just yet
