Have we ever finished above Utd during Wenger's reign and not become Champions at the end of the season?

snipawess

1.) 2004/05 We were second and Manchester United third.

The player from Germany Arsenal will be announcing is Matt Hummels for a fee of £22m, will be announced on Arsenal.com tomorrow lunchtime when the press conference is scheduled.

Top thinking from wenger if true, top player like gunnels at the back would challenge any cb pairing in the prem including vidic/ferdinand. Build from the back is the key

2.) I hope this information is magicly real.

3.) Yeah yeah! keep dreaming we are signing no-one!! no one!!

4.) Jesus Christ u must have wengers phone to be that confident on the timing. Wele soon see. Prepared for abuse if u get this wrong

5.) Absolutely no chance they wouldn't sell him and why would he want to join a club that struggled to finish 4th while his team where fighting for the league and got to champs league final

6.) I would do a poo from excitement if this were true. Sadly, it isn't.

7.) Hummels is too error prone, so perfect for Wenger.

8.) Cannot see this happening at all. in this market he would command a much higher fee. The German player is by a lot of sources Draxler, but we won't sign him.

9.) Cause it will b :/
more chance o signing matt smith dan hummels ffs

10.) Well the time has been and gone and no announcement so you tried to punk us but we did not bite

Arsenal negotiating with Corinthians for the sale of former Milan striker, Alexandre Pato who returned to Brazil in Jan this year. A bid of bid of £10m with £5m in add-ons including appearances offered.

snipawess

1.) That would be nice!

2.) Pls god no!

3.) He was home sick in Italy, why would he move to England which hasn't been rough to South Americans to settle down.

30 Aug 2013 19:00:14
Arsenal have submitted a £13m offer Daniel De.Rossi of Roma which has been accepted, but player wants to remain in Italy.

snipawess

1.) I've heard this also from a member of Roma supporters club, but the fee believed to be 18 million Euros. Also told an enquiry has been made for Juves Chellini, don't think myself he would be available.

2.) The only thing that made me think we would sign anyone else is the FACT that Wenger stated he was confident of signings because the players wanted to sign for Arsenal, Cabaye (not happening), we signed Flamini instead. FACT Both players wanted to sign for Arsenal. I am not sure anyone else will sign

3.) That's one hell of a commute then

25 Aug 2013 23:32:50
Flamini has turned down an offer of a contract at Arsenal, citing limited playing time as reasons not to join us.

snipawess

1.) Lol flamini kicks us in the teeth again! When will we learn! If we can't sign him what hope do we have .

2.) Flamini was never offered a contract. He personally asked Arsene to train will us to get fit for this season, as he currently has no club.

The press putting 2+2 together yet again and getting it horribly wrong!

3.) If this is true then surely that would suggest we are getting in another DM as with our current squad and the injury problems we have at the moment I'd assume Flamini woild get a decent amount of game time?

4.) Hmm another made up storey as news now are saying that flam has more or less signed for us

If Arsene's last 9 years were reversed and were his 1st 9 instead, would he have been the 'right man' for the club?

snipawess

1.) 07 Dec 2014 22:48:29
Or, would this team be the right team to win trophies?

Was any one else really annoyed that Szczesny just literally stood there watching the 2nd Swansea goal go in without making any effort trying to stop it from going in?

The man has his good games but when he plays bad he's 2nd rate & there seems to be far too many poor performances and too much giving it large in the media.

Ok so the whole defence is responsible for the goals we concede but ultimately his role as the last man is to prevent goals from slipping into the net & as long as he makes an attempt to stop shots from turning into goals fans wouldn't complain as much if he could do nothing more to save the shot.

Rant over

snipawess

1.) It did look like that I have to admit, also fabianski looked good!

2.) Not really it was such a good header he had no chance Iam more annoyed at wenger and his stupid tactics

3.) 10 Nov 2014 19:02:42
With you all the way snip

4.) Sczezza is ok, not world class.

5.) 10 Nov 2014 19:39:46
More annoyed that Swansea had 2 in the box and we had 5, and they still scored.

6.) Unfortunately, Fabianski started to look the better of the two keepers before he left. Szczesny is a safe keeper, but rarely makes world class saves.

Gooners, how is our 25 man squad list looking and what impact will any incoming transfers have on it since moat of us agree that we could beef up our assault on trophies next year with atleast 5 players (ST, RB, DM, CB/LW &GK? Will we have to sell before we can buy not because of finances but to accommodate them in the list?

We may not need to offload players from the 25 squad list before bringing in all the rumoured (5 players?) since Bendtnr, Sagna Fabianski & Kim Kallstrom were released from the 25 man squad anyway & thier place could be taken up by Sanchez, Debuchy, new GK & Bender.

That means filling one space in the 25 man squad which we didn't fill last year but since last season's transfer window when we were also trying to get Demba Ba in addition to the Ozil acquisition we still hadn't bought a striker even in the Jan window after, Kallstrom surely can't have used up our striker slot?

snipawess

1.) GK: Szcz
DF: Per, Kos, Vermaelen, Jenks, Gibbs, Monreal
MF: Ozil, Ramsey, Cazorla, Wilshere, Ox, Rosicky, Arteta, Flamini
FWD: Giroud, Walcott, Podolski, Campbell

So that's 19. So we have room for 6 more. That's with out Vermaelen, Cazorla and Podolski going.

We could easily buy 7/8 players this summer and still be fine.

2.) Dont forget Diaby. he's like a new signing :D

Alexis Sanchez and Debuchy. all add up to 22. Then we look like getting a DM and we need a GK which is 24

Podolski/Vermaelan/Cazorla/Arteta all chance of going I feel really hope its not Cazorla as he is magic and Podolski because he such a happy dude.

We in fine shape and have younger players Akpom/Bellerin/Eisfeld/Zelalem/Gnabry.who could all be looking to make head way into 1st team during pre season

3.) Was just wondering, are the youths included in the list of the 25 man squad? if so then I expect gnabry and zelalem to be included

{Ed025's Note - not at present waq..

4.) I forgot Jenkinson :) I know he is a life long gooner and all but I'm not sure he's got it

5.) I know I am the same as most on here in that we have been brainwashed into thinking that because we're actually looking at making some decent signings we're are defiantly going to have to let someone go, such as Arteta, Pod or Santi to pay for it. Well I say not any more. Ok so Pod or Arteta may become expensive squad players, but who cares, it's not my job to worry about money, that's the board. Also it's not my job to keep everyone happy, that's Wengers. All I want is for us to have the strongest possible team out playing in every game. So I say enough, we're a big club who needs a big and strong squad, and our squad is stronger including the players I have mentioned. So for me we get new signings and keep the current players. As Harry Hill would say, I want nanna AND toast.

{Ed025's Note - nothing wrong with that EG, in fact i agree with all that mate..

6.) Totally agree EG! We need to add quality to the squad and keep the majority of the current crop. Not sell them. As my post says above we can easily buy 7/8 no problem with out having to worry about.

7.) 09 Jul 2014 23:21:46
My feelings exactly Epping

8.) Very good point EG, we can't be selling off any important players starting 11 or squad

Question for the Eds,

With regards to clauses in contracts, what happens if a club places an offer to renew one if its player's contract who currently has a clause in his existing contract which allows his former club first refusal, if the renewal offer is accepted does that mean the former club's rights on 1st refusal is no longer valid since the terms on a new contract would be different?

Or what if a player who joins a club and has a 1st refusal clause inserted into his contract by his former club and his current club allows him to run down his contract to become a free agent and then offer him a fresh new contract from scratch knowing that the player would guarantee to re-sign (via verbal agreement when he was still in contract); would that also mean his former club will no longer have an active 1st refusal agreement?

snipawess

{Ed002's Note - This stuff simply does not happen - sorry. You need to put thoughts of "clauses" out of your mind.}

1.) 11 Jun 2014 19:57:19
So Santa Clause doesn't exist?

Shame on you Ed002.

A bit random but never really noticed before but Diego Costa looks very much like our former Eduardo in appearance.

Speaking of Eduardo, any know he has been performing since he left Arsenal. Another player who I really wanted to see succeed at Arsenal but for 'that' injury.

snipawess

1.) Yep, have always thought that mate.

Have we not won't the FA Cup back to back previously?

Vs Chelsea in the 2002 double season followed by a 1-0 vs Southampton courtesy of a Bobby Pires goal in 2003?

I think we led Utd last year Dags at the Ems courtesy of Walcott then the Cutch Dunt scored a pen or maybe he scored 1st. I don't really give a hoot who scores 1st, we just never seem to get a victory against these sides.

If Arsene is unable or unwilling to give the players a rollocking then players must be able and very willing to give Arsene a rollocking. someone needs a rollocking bigtime!

@ Punani Lover, I mean Gooner lol

I do agree that Arsene sometimes has a tendancy to play players out of form and it can be frustrating for other players on the bench who deserve some playing time especially the likes of Rosicky who is believe is fans fave. I do disagree about Cazorla though he was great in his 1st season but had waned for majority of last season but has played hot & cold so far this season.

I think rotation more than anything is key & I definitely wanted to see more of Joel Campbell and the Ox more ahead of Sanogo and Ozil. But the season is still early and we are still undefeated we are still in all the comps so let's remain positive.

PS A colourful profile name as yours did make me chuckle lol.

I haven't had a ciggie for 5 days now (cold turkey) largely due to the fact that I have been unwell and have been in so much agony with constipation issues that cigarettes were the last thing on my mind since Monday. Having said that my intention were to give up last Monday anyway although I had failed with many previous attempts. I guess some positives had come out of being unwell with stomach/constipation problems.

I am not even craving or even remembering that I was smoking only a week ago.

I hope I do not have to light one up ever again.

I guess the fact that I have been i
