I wish to start a rumour. as iI haven't posted for a good while.
Who else fancy Ryan (i'll snap you in two ) Shawcross as a similar type of player to the great Tony ( they call him Donkey) Adams,
can you imagine Ryan taking it laying down, I for one cannot,
So, Rambo, kiss and make up

AWF1966

{Ed025's Note - i cant say i really fancy shawcross AWF, his hair is very scruffy and his skin tone awful.. :)

1.) 24 Dec 2014 19:06:16
I'll set them up.you'll knock them in.
Agreed, he will be never be allowed in the team photo, positively horrific and not genetically perfect like all of the team,
( apart from the fact like all pedigree organisms they seem break when sneezed upon ), apart from that. Perfect. perhaps if he (Ryan) joined he might be part of a team only in the Ashley Cole position for team photos, this is the thing, AW wouldn't have ever signed Tony Adams, but that ( inherited ) back four was the foundation of AW main success at our beloved club, do you see my point, we need a very un wenger style player to add juxtaposition to the ranks of clone like midfielders we have. bah humbug to one and all.

{Ed025's Note - and a merry humbug to you mate..

29 Oct 2014 14:09:34
So eds, what about this ridiculous rumour of Paul Clement being lined up as a possible AW replacement, shall we consign it to the. "We expect that kind of drivel from the tabloids bin"

or,

it might just happen, stick it in your diary.

AWF1966

{Ed002's Note - I generally don't keep up with rumours. What I can say is that Paul C is a very well respected coach and worked his way through the various sides to work with the first team at Chelsea. He has since been with CA at PSG and RM. He is pretty quiet but people listen. He has a very good sense of humour and got on really well with Guus Hiddink. I am not aware of any deal with Arsenal and it seems very unlikely to me. However, in my view Paul will one day appear managing at the highest level - perhaps after a further learning curve elsewhere. Certainly one to watch.}

1.) 29 Oct 2014 16:16:43
Rather than ridiculous think that this is exactly the kind of candidate our club should be considering. Still remember the 'Arsene Who?' headlines and Ferguson managed Aberdeen and was not most fans 1st choice.

2.) 29 Oct 2014 19:31:30
Agree with hackney

3.) Really, so let's put it another way. politely, of course. btw, I'm not a Wenger out moosh either, remember what the Sith Lord did to Young Anakin in Star Wars, coached him in he way of dark arts. my young apprentice. blah. blah,
I would hold my thumb upto that potential pairing and judge it the same, embryonic assisitant is coached in Wengers ( except AW isn't a baddie) ways. Old boriniho has a point we have become masters at nearly being very good, of course this is all conjecture. but, would he be the right manager to help lift Arsenal from being almost very good to actually being. .invincible again. maybe, track record anyone?. I hope I'm completely wrong and the transition between managers
(I'm betting 2 year max) is smooth, and we ( the fans and the club) get the plaudits they deserve

All the pundits are bigging up Welbeck to Arsenal, all are saying best deadline day business.
So why do I feel uncertain about his credentials, what about our defensive frailty, what about our apparent interest in a DM. it just makes me think, maybe we still have the financial break on, and maybe our cash flow isn't what is being broadcast, or.we have greedy American siphoning funds out of the business?

AWF1966

1.) 02 Sep 2014 07:59:55
Guys,

Im fed up of seeing all the whining on here about Danny Welbeck. People on here whined about Debuchy, People whined about Chambers, and now people are whining about Danny Welbeck. Yes we can dream when being linked with Falcao (£300k+), maybe not so much Cavani (£200k) but let's be real, our wage cap is £150k i'm led to believe so just imagine the turmoil and lack of balance at the club when one person at the club earns £300k a week, it will shift the balance between players and start off a domino effect. Imagine your at work and the guy next to you, who is in the same field of job as you, gets £40k a year more than you, its human nature to unsettle you and green eyed monster plays her part. don't get me wrong, Falcao would be a pipe dream in our team, but he's gone to Man U, deal with it. We should be concerned with our own players now and Welbeck is our player. Welbeck IS AN INTERNATIONAL who gets picked each time. He is and will be an improvement on our squad as he can find the net, has pace, and can play across the front. It also gives competition to Giroud. I find it disgraceful how on the spin of a coin Wenger lovers can turn into Wenger haters, I remember rightly for the past 6 months he was the messiah, how fickle us fans can be. Welbeck is now an arsenal player so treat him respect of an arsenal player. I for 1 beleive that Welbeck isn't a bad signing. Remember when the so called Arsenal fans hated Ramsey and wanted him sold? turns out to be one of the prems best midfielders, hated Mertesecker when he joined saying he turns slower than a bus? One of the prems best defence partnerships last year, Wanted Walcott sold? his absence shows us how much we need him and what a difference he makes. Giroud not good enough? If he played we would have put Leicester to bed with a stick to chew on. Flamini why did we get him? He did a great job for three quarters of last season, etc. Soory guys, just frustrates me, we are gooners and we're whining like the mancs. Gooner 4 life, Gooner 4ever. let's get behind our team, the negative vibe around our latest signing wouldn't make him feel welcome and can also make him mentally underperform. Sorry for the rant and essay.

2.) Spot on he is one of us now so let's see what happens before we slate him

3.) Brilliantly put daywalker. I for one am happy with Welbeck, great pace, power, technique, runs at defenders and is great tactically. He's also young and English. I have faith he can lead our line and do the business. He's an player now so let's get behind him.

4.) You should post that rant on the banter page, I like it and more people need to see it.

5.) Very well put daywalker. That is the message I've been trying to get to people!

6.) Very well said. I saw things on here last night like "I can't believe we've sunk this low". Come on, get a grip guys.

7.) Daywalker et el

How does me saying "Im not sure" warrant that outpouring, "me thinks one doth protest too loudly" some of your points are salient and I agree, however, I did not imply I wasn't behind the team, of course i'm behind this great team, did I mention a Wenger in out quote, no I did not, where did that come from?re the wages, I for one think 375 grand a week is immoral, in fact 125 grand a week is immoral in my mind, jeeze get a grip, touched a nerve did I?

{Ed002's Note - There is nothing immoral about it. It is simply a lot of money.}

8.) I think your post is spot on daywalker, however I think people are just a bit disappointed as we needed a def/def mid/ ideally a more prolific striker than giroud.
and Welbeck does not seem to be any of them. I do believe he will be a good singing and very happy to see him at the club. let's hope he thrives like strudge did.
However after all the shouting that we were going to do this and that, I think people feel its just a bit of a come down.
That being said, Welbeck is now an Arsenal player and all supporters should get right behind him and let's give him the platform to prove any doubters wrong.

9.) AWF, the post was not directed at you. It was about the general negativity and unnecessary criticism on here.

10.) If i'm honest it wasnt aimed at that post, just couldn't work out how to start a fresh post lol.

11.) . And yes a nerve was touched. Your post if i'm honest tipped me over the edge. I love Arsenal so i'm going to feel a little disgruntled when my fellow brothers, sisters and he-shes don't move in the same direction. I watch ssn last night and felt disgusted of all the commentaries that were going on, and it had to be Arsenal fans looked like yobos and when the announced that Welbeck didn't have a medical they cheered. Nice welcome home party. Apologies if you felt it was targeted at you, it wasnt, however I use this website more times than I use my bank account so I see all the posts of what people post. So jump off that little horse and let's have a man hug lol

12.) 02 Sep 2014 12:33:19
Exactly Ubi, exactly. Right, now its time to youtube Welbeck lol

13.) Ed, Re, " immoral" a better word would have been obscene, I stand corrected.

Dear, Daywalker, Ubistonk, if someone speaks about a player and says, I don't understand the fuss, or words to that effect, isn't it an ideal time to say, "yeah, but don't you remember the time etc" "he did this" or that or did that wobbly arm thing!, remind the uncertain fan of his speed, power finishing prowess, It makes me think of Terry Henry who came to us with a mixed review, maybe Mr Wenger will work his magic with Danny Welbeck and turn a solid, proven goal scorer into something galactic etc.
I am 100% behind the club, the manager and the players, and now Mr Welbeck is in the fold, that means Danny boy is my next best friend.

I guess what i'm saying is I think we needed a bit more through the team, the vast majority feel the same, the Oil rich clubs throw millions at the problem and then let 20 players go out on loan or transfer, that can't be right! and you can only play 11 players at any one time. I really do prefer our way, its more cultured, refined, controlled and sustainable, that said, we always seem to be a few injuries away from a crisis, I really didn't want to offend or upset anyone.

14.) Didnt get offended, its a banter site, an I just aired my banter that's all. Off the cuff, Falcao is on a reported £350,000 a week (RIDICULOUS), so i'm even happier we've got Danny Welbeck. £350K is ridiculous, for 1 game a week!! (If he makes it throughout the season)

15.) Im happy we got welbeck he is English aswell which is nice to see us have more in the team and I think he will be a top player for us also he could play up top with giroud

16.) We can all look at the accounts when they're published shortly but don't just look at the cash balance. Look at the entire sheet and it's easy to see why the club doesn't over spend.

This year's is expected to be better reading but the increased spending was a sign of it. Still a far ways off having title winning spending power.

17.) That £150,000 a week is the reason we are no longer challenging for titles and have to fight with the likes of Everton and spurs to finish fourth. If you want world class players like Falcao(and mark my words, he is a world class forward) then you have to pay top dollar for them. As long as Wenger, Kroenke and Gazidis are involved we won't be signing players of Falcao's calibre. With the amount of chances we create as a team a forward like Falcao could and would score 30-40 goals a season, that's the difference between winning leagues and finishing fourth year after year.

18.) Wenger trusts that Wilshere can play in that DM position, that's probably why no one was brought in in that area.

19.) 03 Sep 2014 16:18:47
Nonsense. Why isn't he playing him there then?

27 Aug 2014 17:46:59
Hi Eds,

Just heard a rumour, from a london taxi driver. no lie. we have good chance of signing Cavini, pretty sure he has been sniffing exhaust fumes. again, what are the chances?

AWF1966

{Ed025's Note - the chances are...that he has indeed been sniffing the fumes AWF.. :)

1.) Ed what do you think about the chances of us securing falcao on loan?

{Ed018's Note - Falcao wants a move to Real Madrid and that's where I expect him to end up}

2.) Knowing our luck we will sign this bloke Cavini who will turn out to be an ice cream salesman playing part time for a local amateur side. Meanwhile one of our rivals will snap up a certain Edinson Cavani.

3.) Hello Ed, I'm just wondering if there's been any updates yet with all those agents meeting up yesterday night? Or should I ask another time

{Ed002's Note - The most significant thing in terms of Arsenal is the interest of Manchester United in Carvalho.}

25 Aug 2014 07:24:08
Hi Ed
Is Lukas Podolski off then. shame, I think he is quite effective as a court jester and super sub

AWF1966

{Ed002's Note - Probably.}

Finally, at long last Mr Wenger looks at 'Arsenal hater' Ryan "I didn't mean it " Shawcross, who for me is, the only choice for us in that position, and of course I don't need to remind everyone of the fact the main reason we were ' invincible' is because of the back four as well, Sol, Cashley and Martin, with a bit of flair thrown in Gael, Lauren etc, it's ok scoring great goals, you have to stop them as well. something we have struggled to do for quite sometime.
We lack leaders, I'd have Shawcross, can anyone suggest anyone else.

AWF1966

1.) We do need a leader no question but he needs to be extremely strong to have an impact as players have been allowed to be let's say be less than totally determined not to conceded for a very long time and there would be resistance from some of having someone come in and start barking orders.
The first goal at Southampton when Szczesney went walk about Mertesacker was closest and should have covered the line Ashley Cole like but just stood and watched as they scored into an empty net and many of MF just walk back when an attacks breakdown without a thought of helping retrieve the ball .
A general would be brilliant but he needs to be very very strong to win through

2.) Maybe poaching Vieira from cities coaching staff might be a very good place to start, he's a gooner but has had a break from our way and success since leaving so might be a great addition to get some sense of responsibility going through the team and I d like to see him sitting next to Arsene instead of silent Steve

3.) Yes Rue mate 2 0 with Sanchez and Ox providing the goals

28 Dec 2014 09:08:45
One certain black and green top comic has us in for Carvalho,
Any truth to this interesting rumour, it's not the complete solution, but is certainly a step in the right direction, wouldn't he be UEFA cup tied?

AWF1966

1.) Depends on how much he costs compared to Schneiderlin?

2.) I'd take wanyama over him all day long.

3.) I've just read that we've agreed €18m for Khedira, according to spanish media.

Suppose we will find out in January mate! And if sporting have played in Europe then he could well be cup tied.

Not sure if a player has played in Europa league will be cup tied in the champions league.

4.) I'll be amazed if Wenger has paid that. If he waits a few days he can ask for what ever wages he wants from the big boys.

Good signing if true tho. Could help ozil finally settle and play well.

5.) I was thinking the same thing Derby, €18m for someone in the last year of their contract is a lot, but we have seen him spent £42.5m on Özil and £35m on sanchez! Let's hope he does it again!

6.) Its a hoex I think. He will join Bayern probably next summer.

7.) There is NO WAY on this earth that Wenger will spend that in January, AW hates the January window .

Just my opinion. . . . . we will not purchase anyone in January. . . . . . . .

Actually we might but with a clause only allowing the player to come to us in the Summer

8.) Banners
I think wenger will go for two
Dm and a centre back,
He must see we are losing game threw playing monreal in centre back

Hi Eds
Not really a rumour more of " a has anyone thought of this " and if so, can it be fixed.

Arsenals semi synthetic pitch is beautiful, everytime I go, it takes my breath away, grassy perfection.

But, damn, another game, another injury, so I'm making a few leaps of faith here.
I assume the training pitches are the same grassy perfection and the same as the emeriates pitch, I image Arsene would want the same conditions when training and on match day.

Is it at all conceivable the pitches are causing the injuiries, we really do have an awful lot of injuries.
I don't understand the science behind the desso grass systems, it just seems like training methods are being investigate ( Shad Forsythe) just wondered if the pitches are being looked at as well, it really is very unusual to so many crooked players in one team,
So it's either the training, the physical body types, or the surface.
Thoughts?.

AWF1966

1.) I think you maybe clutching at straws there but we have to be open about it and leaf no blade unturned.apparently Steve bolud knows who's responsible but won't say because he's no?

2.) 1966
never thought of that, but its a very good thought

3.) AWF1966. This is what I understood of how the grass is at the Emirates mate.
Under the pitch when the grass grows it gets entwined with nylon threads. That is why you hardly see any divots coming out on the pitch as the grass roots grow round the nylon mate.
I don't think you will find it is a mixture of grass and nylon on the surface.

4.) 14 Sep 2014 17:44:32
Not sure how true or not that might be but it's a clever thought man. Didn't actually know it was semi synthetic.

5.) SHEENY. Imagine the pitch is covered with nylon twine under the grass. When the grass grows the roots get entwined with the nylon. That's why you hardly ever see any patches on the pitch. It makes it very strong and hard to tear out. Then the grass is cut very short to strengthen it.

6.) 15 Sep 2014 17:53:10
Sounds awesome.

If only they put as much effort in the team selection :P

01 Sep 2014 19:34:19

Goldboy, I'll make you right on that, and bring him in as AW successor, not bashing, just time for change.
Limp, apathetic and embarrassing the fiasco with Podolskis shin pads broadcast on global tv surely is a sad indictment of what's going on, could you honestly imagine that taking place on the Man U bench when Fergie was at his peak

Got to say, I, like the majority of the Arsenal faithful saw this coming, Sanogo for all his desire and running is still a div 2 player, and for sometime have thought ARSENE WENGER uses Arsenal as a proving ground for French national team players, there is duel purpose to his transfers, ok, we have done very well out of it, but we have also had some stinkers. Yet again we are sputtering, coughing and chugging our way to the finish line, I really feel we have a mountain to climb and yet again we will be without any honours, being out of Europe is a very real threat. I hope I am wrong . Wenger is a hero, we have been lucky to have him and he will always be a legend around Highbury and Emirates, but, I think this is the problem, the difference he brought is no longer enough to separate us from the others, and his top, top scouting methods have deserted him, we do not pick up the diamonds we used to,
Giroud, was bullied off the ball yesterday, he is not top quality, good defenders stop him.
Sanogo is not top quality, or even close to it
Ozil, first season, its tough.
Jack Wheelchair, not tough enough, too weak
Arteta, side ball merchant, and too slow

The offensive spine of our team is too weak, hence the goal scoring issues we have, and we keep getting found out against strong sides because we are not strong enough,

Like most of the last 9 seasons, we are 2 or 3 players short of a competing for silverware side,
I think Wenger, might walk at the end of this season, I'd like Dennis Bergkamp to be our new manager.

Top Top, Top shout, PGT
Its obvious this lad needs support, and gentle encouragement, he is not the type to respond to bully booing, infact, no player does, its not Wenger’s way either, So, following on from PGT, We are Arsenal, Get behind our team, Our manager, and this time, against Sunderland, get behind Mesut, lift him up, make him feel wanted, be the 12th man, let's face it, who in there right mind responds to getting shouted at, boo'd at and otherwise abused I dont, I bet 100% of the forum user don’t either, conversely, an arm round the shoulder and a c’mon mate, you can do better works wonders.

Gunner 62, I think so, I’m afraid.
Jacks light burned ever-so brightly at the beginning, but, has not been a constant since his injuries, I played mid-field in my playing days, there was no way I was ever going to show pain, or that the other side was getting to me, in a tactical sense. I’m 47 so obviously the modern game is different, and I haven't played pro level football, that said, once you get to a reasonable standard of football, the midfield is the engine, particularly so in Arsenals game, the other teams know Jack can be got at, they seem to target him, if he starts today, count how many times he falls over, or how many hard tackles he gets, he seem a bit fragile, too quick to throw his arms up in the air, that said Rambo looked like that last year didn’t he

Very very true, I’ve always thought the same, the old favourite gets drawn out their channel boot bag, "well its a short career, they shout from their louboutin heels. that cuts no ice with me either, the majority have a natural talent they are born with. I’d like their lifestyle and wages, no matter how short their career is, get some perspective.
