Can any Ed please help me out? I've heard a rumor that arsenal aren't looking at Cech as achievable, and instead are looking at stoke. Do you think it could be begovic, or knowing wenger, will he try and go for butland and say he trusts ospina for first team and butland is 'one for the future'
Thanks for any info

Cd

{Ed001's Note - well I did post up on the Stoke site a few days ago that Stoke are now willing to move Begovic on to allow Butland to take the number one spot, so I would expect Begovic to be fought over.}

Thanks for the reply Ed. I'd be happier with begovic tbh, think he's a bit underrated

Hi people,
Just wandering if any of the ed's could tell us if there is any interest from Arsenal in Roma's gk Maarten Stekelenberg?
Thanks to anyone who can help {Ed002's Note - Not from Arsenal - Fulham, yes.}

Not a rumour, just a question.
With higuain being priced at £70+ mil, would anyone else prefer wenger to go all out and try to get griezmann for that sort of money? It's what I'd prefer personally but that's only my opinion.
Also, is there any chance of Arsenal looking at jack butland as a long term gk solution?
Thanks.

Griezman is a cracking player but I don't see it happening.
One of the ed's (I forget who, old age affecting the memory! ) said Arsene rejected him back in the day for being too small.

Now he's showing his class, the second it was out that he was 'up for sale' or even that we were trying to buy him, you'd have half of Europe after him.

Personally I think it's a shame Vela never settled in England, because he's very much the sort of player we need, quick, intelligent and a good finisher.

So it looks like we're going to sign the Russian version of lord bendtner-(minus the god complex!) a player who isn't prolific, doesn't offer anything different from what we already have, isn't a game changer and another player who goes missing when it matters. I love AW for the fact that he's got our team to a point where only top class players will improve our squad, but sometimes his choices of transfer targets frustrate me. Why not just go all out for lewondowski, benzema, cavani, even Charlie Austin will do!! I just hope that he has something up his sleeve to bring in a player that will take responsibility when the team is struggling. We have the talent in abundance, we have one of the best squads around but we need someone who isn't afraid to stand up and be counted when it matters, even if they don't succeed at least you can see them trying to fight and scrap for the cause. Defense is good, midfield is ok (could do with another dm, but not a priority) it's an out and out, defense scaring, 25+ goals a season striker that we NEED!! If we get that striker, coq can make dm position his own and if he gets injured, we just have to score more than the other team, which we can do if we get that striker!!!

We're hardly going to sign him. Just the latest in a long line of transfer BS

2.) 26 Aug 2015 08:53:31
If we don't sign a big name striker, I would settle for Austin.

3.) 26 Aug 2015 09:43:56
I hope we don't, I'd rather save the transfer fee and bring akpom back from loan. I'd bet my house they'd score the same amount. Plus akpom is already 'semi-adjusted' to premier league. Saves time and money.

4.) 26 Aug 2015 09:51:09
To be quite honest I've never heard of him. Which perhaps says something as I do know of a lot of players. However looking at his 163 apperences and 37 goals that doesn't sound impressive to me. However hopefully just paper talk

5.) 26 Aug 2015 10:24:43
Exactly what I mean D16, his record is just as bad as bendtner' was up until he left us. I don't see him as an improvement, therefore I don't see the need to buy him.

Don't get too excited about us signing falcao. He flew to England early hours this morning after talks with Madrid broke down. Good news is he's in England, bad news is it was Manchester airport that he flew to and is in a hotel in that part of the world. Sorry to rain on your parade as I'd love to see him in an arsenal shirt but looks like he's going elsewhere

Cd

{Ed002's Note - This is simply untrue. Last Wednesday in Monaco the club put a price on Falcao for a sale - with the expectation that Real Madrid (where he wishes to move to) would pay it. Their concern is that at his age the asking price is far too high. There were also discussions with Juventus and with Valencia. Since then there have been approaches made to the English clubs - Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City. The situation as I understand it this morning is that:
- Chelsea saw him as too expensive at his age and went for Remy as their first choice is not available.
- Arsenal considered his age, his price, the possibility of a loan price and his wages and whilst they would like the player, seem to be trying to tie up the permanent transfer of Carlos Bacca instead (they will need to up the offer they made - but they might be doing that with others today as well).
- Manchester City would not be interested in buying him at the offered price but would consider a loan to buy - but there is a major concern over his knee and they want a clause which will drastically reduce his wages and the loan fee should it turn out to be a problem.
- Manchester United are interested but again the price and wages are an issue. On Wednesday Manchester United used a third party in discussions and I understand that third party was again involved last night min trying to broker a deal that might be acceptable. If the club want a deal done they will likely need to concede most of the financial negotiations.}

1.) But looks like he is at Man U guys

2.) Not really untrue is it ed? Any way the rumour comes through, the basics are right. He's not coming to arsenal, he will end up at a Manchester club. Can you please tell me what part of this is untrue?

{Ed025's Note - none of it Cd..

3.) Why oh why are we trying for Bacca when, if we want Falcao as the Ed has said, we could be tying up the deal for Falcao instead.

{Ed025's Note - maybe arsenal wont take the chance on paying £50m for a 28yr old with a dodgy knee and a wage that would shatter the wage structure G95?..

4.) 01 Sep 2014 12:26:54
'He flew to England early hours this morning' - False. Untrue. Lie. Misinformation.

That about covers the 'simply untrue' part.

5.) 01 Sep 2014 14:01:29
Redrosie, unless you are an air flight controller that knows who is on every flight in and out of this country, how do you know that he didn't fly in, book into a hotel, not like the decor and decide to go home for the night and try again later? Lol to be fair, I admit, part of the information I got and then posted was wrong and I apologize for that.

Hi Ed's, could you please let me know if you have heard the same as me? Apparently part of the tv5 transfer agreement is that next summer, AW can have first refusal on any outbound Barcelona B players. Not sure because it doesn't seem like a stipulation you would normally request in a transfer but with AW's previous for barcelona's youth players, it isn't really a surprising clause if it's true. Thanks

Cd

{Ed002's Note - It is BS.}

1.) 09 Aug 2014 18:40:12
Can't see it.

Over the year's, Wenger has got up Barca's nose by stealing some of their young player's, Febregas for example, although I'm not sure if their B team is linked to their academy.

Totally agree with sparky, merts needs to be dropped and just play occasionally to cover injuries or to rest kos/gabs. He's a liability in my eyes, I'm not sure that Cech likes playing with him either. Just look at the last game where there was a muddle up that nearly allowed 'them' to regain possession in a dangerous area. Not the first time this season either. Mert is slow, doesn't seem to have the necessary leadership qualities required, indecisive and just plain dangerous to our team. Just play kos and gabs from now til the end, shift mert out in the summer and open the pathway for chambers to push through. Just my opinion but hey, everyone knows more than me. I once got sacked in cm from Woking town!

Personal opinion, please don't ruin me for it! Lol I think wenger saw schneiderlin as a long term solution, but with some of the performances coq put in, he now doesn't think he needs him. Vidal will be good for coq as he can teach him and mentor him, aswell as providing competition for him until he is ready, hence going for a slightly older midfielder, even if it is only 2 years.

So just because benteke scored 19 goals this season it makes him better than giroud who has 17 for the season so far with 1 game to go, give the bloke a chance or all them years ago was you all calling for henry to be sold because he got outscored for a season?

Rest Sanchez and play Gibbs left wing for a full game. He's not near sanchez's level but I don't think we should rely on Sanchez for every game and as a few have said before, risk him getting a long term injury. Hell, I'd even go as far as to give Sanchez a full week off and pay for him to go to butlins in Bognor Regis just to make sure he gets a break!

It's hard to pick. Some games could be because of the system wenger has told them to play, other games the players could just perform badly. It's not as clean cut as wenger or players fault. Most of the time it will be a mixture of both.
