Eds, if we do get Sanchez, i'm sure I read that we will be looking to play him upfront? does this mean that we are unlikely to be in for any other World class strikers?
also are you aware of any interest in caulker of cardiff? we need a young center back and he could go on to be a great defender.

GunBreal

{Ed002's Note - "World class" really means nothing to me. I am not aware of interest in Caulker.}

1.) Don't take it hard ROOK' you have to bring it tight with ed 002 - or he'll throw it back at ya.

We've all been there, probably even a young Dags ;-))

2.) Fair play Ed002 - I mean like a jackson martinez or mario, just a big name striker or is sanchez going to be that central figure up top? I know you may not have a say in where he plays just wondered if you hand any idea on how we intend on using him?

{Ed002's Note - I need to speak to someone but I would suspect that the club are still looking for a striker.}

Eds just wondering, (not that I've seen anything to suggest we are interested)
but do u know of any interest form Arsenal for Memphis Depay? I've read that we are keen on his understudy but not him, has looked decent and quick in the games that I've seen him in.

GunBreal

{Ed002's Note - PSV's Memphis Depay has attracted interest from a number of clubs with Manchester City, Real Madrid, Newcastle, Spurs, Marseille and Manchester United looking to see of a deal can be struck this summer. Marseille have signed Batshuayi and dropped their interest in Depay although Spurs are pushing PSV for discussions and Manchester City has made it very clear to his representatives that they are capable of fulfilling a negotiation free transfer at short notice.}

1.) I rate him, who's his understudy?

2.) Bakkali I presume.

I understand the Frustration you lovely people but we need to remain positive, yes we have not started well at all, but apart from the result against leicester (im not including Dortmand as that game never happened in my head) we have not lost, and that's something we have not done to much of in the past.
When we hit form, Which we will then we will be a force in the league, City have dropped points and lost, man utd, Liverpool, and I know Chelsea have won all their games but they really do look easy to score against at the moment, 1 day off up front and I can see them dropping points as well.
its only 4 games into the league there is a long way to go, I actually think we are a lot stronger than last year and yes we have a lot of injury's but when do we not? you can only have 25 players so regardless who would would have singed we could still be in this position.

we all know we need a new Holding/DEF CM and for what ever reason Wenger did not address this who knows what went on behind the scenes, but to suggest that he is no longer the man for the job (in my opinion) is RIDICULOUS. and i'm not talking about what he has done for us 10 years ago, last season we finished 7 points off the top, won the fa cup, signed Ozil, (which in turn will have helped with Sanchez). it was a very good season on the whole.
This has just started, and we have won a cup, not an important one but success breeds success, qualified for the champ league, remain undefeated in the league, Yes the game on Tuesday was an embarrassment, absolutely shameful, but many more teams will go there and look like boys against men as well, let's not throw in the towel just yet.

we are all entitled to our opinions and sites like this are great for true fans to come and have their say and let off steam, but come kick off, for 90 minutes no true arsenal fan should do anything but cheer on the team and sing Wengers name proudly.

On another note - Ozil - the man is simply put our best player, without question, and although he is not having a great time we still need to let him know we love him and we need to build the team around him.
I don't agree with the notion that even if he is played out of position he should still do a job and track back, that's not why we brought him, not why he is magical.
You don't buy a Bentley and then take in to a destruction derby, u use it what you brought it for, Play him in that number 10 roll, sing his name and watch him become the best player in the Prem bar none.

GunBreal

1.) I think we are finding out that ozil just isn't upto life in the premier league.

how can a pro footballer get tired after 70mins? you get semi pro players in the conference who work til 5 then go straight to a game and still put a shift in

if you want ozil to perform you need a team around him that is tall and strong I believe and does his running. he must be the weakest player strength wise on the team.

cazorla ozil wilshire monreal etc in the same line up is just asking for a heavy defeat

2.) Dortmund was just the start

3.) Dortmund was just the start mate. If a manager in far off Germany knows our weaknesses and how to exploit them, then our title rivals certainly do as well.

Undefeated means d!ck all if your not winning.

Ozil is either not suited to the premier league or Wenger can't get what's needed out of him. Either way that's Wengers fault for signing him or utilizing him wrongly. You said yourself play him centrally one of the gripes fans have with Arsene, has he listened? Has he F***!

Last season was better than some of the ones that went before granted but this season was time to kick on and return to the top where we belong. In order to do this we needed to address certain aspects of the team where we are lacking and what started as a good window turned into disappointment. This again is down to Arsene.

At the very least Wenger is:
Predictable
Stubborn
arrogant
incompetent in the transfer market

Four qualities we could do without in a manager.

We finished in a top four where Liverpool took Utds place. How long before they are back up there? Everton are pushing on. Spurs are their own worst enemy but at some stage they to are going to click to at the very least be competitive. Arsenal can not simply sit still while other teams progress around us.

Arsene has took us as far as he can. Thanks very much, It's been wonderful but It's time for a change.

now obviously I don't know all the in and outs but was seems consistent is that we had a deal in place for Reus so we were willing and have the money and sporting want to sell Carvallo, we have put in a bid of £24mill but they are holding out for £28mill - so IF this is true question is does Wenger not think paying out 4 mill is worth the title?

forget a world class striker, with these 2 plus back up CB the team and squad could be

Schez / Ospina

Debuch / Bellerin
Kos / Chambers
Mert / Monlas
Gibbs / Monreal

Carvalio / Arteta
Ramsey / Wilshire

Walcott / Garnby
Ozil /Corz
Reus / OX

Sanchez / Giroud

Now for me that team (First line of players) is good enough to win the prem and all a very good age, 2nd team is a great back up aswell as the rotation among all of the front 8 is immense and would have defenders wondering how to stop us?

Surely it worth spending the money even if a little higher that we have offered for these 2 seemingly available players and I believe we look a complete and fear-full team/squad

GunBreal

1.) It certainly has a nice look to it GB. Would be happy to take Draxler instead of Reus if the latter is not interested.

2.) Please Carvello & Reus please! If that happens I'm going to run around royal Arsenal skipping & laughing for about 2days.(lucky enough to live in our birth place). I was going to say I would do it naked but the wife won't let me out without my surgical pants on these days

{Ed025's Note - thank the lord for your wife..

So according to the papers and rumours the 5 players we are (strongly) linked with before the window start are
Cavani
Reus
Khedira/Carviallo
Manolas
Now we are not going to get them all but I guess there is a chance of 1 maybe 2. I would take any of them in the arsenal team but i'm wondering which of these would you fine people like to see Arsene sign before the transfer window closes?

GunBreal

1.) Reus, although Carvalho is needed more, when you add World class players, other world class players are more liking to want to come in the following transfer windows.

2.) 4-0. We are going to be flying!

3.) Attacking players cost more, if we can land reus, I don't care about anything more. let's just get him.

4.) If that 25mil buy out clause is correct, Reus would make do happy time in my pants BUT we seriously need to sort out some defensive signings and fast

5.) 15 Aug 2014 14:45:11
Reus Sanchez Walcott

Imagine that!

Hi Ed can you shed any light on if a actual official offer has gone in for Douglas Costa from arsenal? I really hope not as this guy at best has only scored 7 goals in any season in not a very good league. would seem a really poor bit of business, for the money being quoted. Thanks in advance,

GunBreal

ed 002 - I know I have kinda touched on this question before so sorry for banging on but it was obvious last season that giroud is not the striker to get the goals single handedly and while I like him a lot still feel we need that central figure to put fear into defences (Sanchez i'm hoping will be used out wide.

of the strikers that seem to be available do u know if we still or have any real interest and is there one that you would like to see at the club?
this is over last 4 seasons
Player age Games Goals G/per/G
Giroud 27 183 78 2.34
Balotelli 23 106 50 2.12
Martinaz 27 153 87 1.76
Cavani 27 181 129 1.4

GunBreal

{Ed002's Note - Out of these three Balotelli might still be possible. I have explained that Arsenal are looking for a striker and where the interest has been. Expect something to happen.}

1.) Not sure of its relevancy, but Balo's girlfriend posted a picture on Instagram with them both outside a shop with the Arsenal badge in the window.

Seems like an unusual place for a photo. Might be coincidence, but I still believe!

2.) Here's still hoping for Balotelli

3.) I assumed Balo interest was long gone.

Maybe if he's available at a reduced price because of his poor world cup.

I think your post is spot on daywalker, however I think people are just a bit disappointed as we needed a def/def mid/ ideally a more prolific striker than giroud.
and Welbeck does not seem to be any of them. I do believe he will be a good singing and very happy to see him at the club. let's hope he thrives like strudge did.
However after all the shouting that we were going to do this and that, I think people feel its just a bit of a come down.
That being said, Welbeck is now an Arsenal player and all supporters should get right behind him and let's give him the platform to prove any doubters wrong.

Way to much for a slightly better than average player. £16 mill for kaderia, £19.9 for kroos and then £19 mill for Mccarthy.

I actually think he is going to have a massive impact when he returns. I think with actual wingers and Giroud up top, and a nice rest after the world cup and some time away from all the snipers, we will see just why he was the best number 10 at one point.

We only finished 7 points off the champions last season, so I agree that we are not that far off at all, yes we have not had the best start to the season, but we have won 5 of our last 6.
And also can I just say that in no way do I settle for 4th and every season go in with the optimism that we can win and mount a serious challenge for the league, but let's not forget the quality of this league and that finishing 4th (while not a reason to celebrate) is still not a bad position.
Man utd have one off season and finish 7th, Liverpool have not finished there is a long time and look at them now after 1 season back in top 4 and in champ league.
Leeds, Newcastle, Blackburn, Bolton all tried to compete at in top 4 and look where they are now
Tottenham, Everton would love to finish there even for one season.
so yes let's dream of more and support and will the team but also let's not underestimate the great consistency this team and manager has shown where so many other teams have failed.

{Ed025's Note - good post that GB..

VDG anb Robbie. you are both entitled to your opinions no need to have digs at each other, and you are both right.
arteta is not good enough to be our first choice CDM, however he is an experienced and strong character around the dressing room (i don't know him but guessing this is why he is captian) however to say that we should get rid if him is not right. he gives 100% effort and still is a good organised player while not at his best any more is dependable.
as you for comment about would he get into the utd, city Chelsea teams then no he would not however he would get into their squads.
they have people like Milner, Obi Mikel, Fletcher Man (UTD OF old) you need these types of players to make up a good squad full off quality and experience and reliabilty.
and let not forget this is the same squad that finished 7 points off the team that won the prem last season and won the fa cup and we have added sanchez and welbeck. now i'm not saying that we will win the league this season but we were not a million miles off last season ad bar the key injury's we got last season could have gone even closer. the first team needs a little more quality this is true, but I don't not feel a complete overhaul of the squad.

Just not good enough, and also a manager that puts his ego before the good of the club.
