Good morning Eds, is there any truth in the rumour Roma are coming back for Xhaka?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Last summer Granit Xhaka was one of several options for Roma but Arsenal rejected what Roma thought was a good offer leaving them to take Ebrima Darboe and Filippo Tripi in to the first team squad to provide cover for Amadou Diawara but it was really too early for them. With their compelling need for a DM and the possibility of Diawara leaving meaning they may need two, Xhaka remains on the list of options, but they have at least five others preferred to him, so a move is far from certain.}

Danilo (DM) Palmeiras have said that they have had scouts from "many important Portuguese, English and French clubs" watch their games with a focus on taking Danilo. Monaco have discussed the player with Palmeiras as they will not be able to hold on to Aurelien Tchouameni beyond the summer. Well stocked in midfield and with the addition of Onana in the summer, it is difficult to see why Lille have declared an interest unless it is as a direct replacement for Benjamin André - so they can probably be ruled out as an option. His agent would like to ease him in to Europe via Shakhtar Donetsk. An ex-Premier League player who is now a very well respected scout has recommended him to Arsenal and they may look to do something but any English club considering him would need to pay well over the odds in order to try and get a Work Permit. From Portugal, interest seems to be from Benfica and Sporting Braga. Palmeiras have made it clear that if a significant offer were made in the summer that they would have to consider it, but they will not sell in January and that the player will be available for selection at the Club World Cup. Therefore, a move in January is unlikely. }.

Cheers ed002. Has it always been difficult for South American players to get a work permit for the premier league? I recall this was one of the reasons Benfica and Porto were such great wholesalers - players would come in from Argentina, Brazil, etc, have a couple of good seasons the Primeira Liga, and end up with a smooth transfer to the PL.

{Ed002's Note - The criteria changed but it is still possible to sign players.}

Hey Ed002, hope you had great Christmas break. I remember reading through your recent list of potential ins and outs (amazing stuff btw) and not seeing much about tielemans. He's being talked about currently but can't see Leicester considering letting go of such a talented player. Are you aware of any interest? Would definitely take him over Melo. Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - Youri Tielemans (CM) right now will not sign a new contract so will be available in the summer at a reduced fee if he doesn't change his mind. His agent confirms that there is interest from Real Madrid who are looking for a Luka Modric replacement and that he has been approached by a third party representing Newcastle and is aware that other clubs, including Bayern Munich and Liverpool have scouted the player but not declared an interest. Interest of the Manchester sides has gone. Ia am not aware of any recent approach by Arsenal.}
