Good morning Eds, is there any truth in the rumour Roma are coming back for Xhaka?

Sallyjannine

{Ed002's Note - Last summer Granit Xhaka was one of several options for Roma but Arsenal rejected what Roma thought was a good offer leaving them to take Ebrima Darboe and Filippo Tripi in to the first team squad to provide cover for Amadou Diawara but it was really too early for them. With their compelling need for a DM and the possibility of Diawara leaving meaning they may need two, Xhaka remains on the list of options, but they have at least five others preferred to him, so a move is far from certain.}

1.) 14 Jan 2022 12:34:44
Thanks Ed, much appreciated.

12 Jan 2022 15:26:21
Ed has said Adrian Rabiot is a possible leaver at Barcelona. Has anyone seem him recently and would he be worth considering?

Sallyjannine

{Ed002's Note - Adrian Rabiot (CM) Juventus are looking to repolace their midfield misfits (Arthur, McKennie, Ramsey and Rabiot) before the start of next season and would listen to offers for a couple in January. They are looking to fund replacements they have already identified. Rabiot will, like every other player, be offered to Newcastle. A third party has been instructed to find him a new home.}

1.) 12 Jan 2022 16:16:36
Thanks Ed :)

2.) 14 Jan 2022 01:50:29
Hey Ed. Could Arsenal be considering going for Tielemans if Arsenal can’t pull of Vlahovic deal. I know different positions and we still need a striker. I’m thinking from a financial point of view… (if we’re interested) .

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal are looking to someone else for midfield.}

3.) 14 Jan 2022 02:17:34
Sorry Ed lastly. Is there anything you can share about Arsenals interest in Guimaraes? Cheers in advance :)

{Ed002's Note - Bruno Guimaraes (DM) Lyon, like many French clubs were hit hard by the loss of broadcast revenue and may need to sell some of their more valuable assets even though they do not want to. Mr Mourinho tried to take the player Chelsea on more than one occasion and sustains his interest at Roma - and there is a good chance of an offer being made. Chelsea interest has moved elsewhere. Arsenal were keen but opted for Thomas Party and have no real need to add another DM right now. Napoli has an interest but prefer the cheaper and more versatile Nahitan Nandez. At the right price Lyon (something near €50M) will sell if they can find a suitable replacement - they may take a chance on a rising 21 year old who is being offered around at the moment.}

Lots of reports this morning we are close to signing Alexander Isak. Has anyone seen him play?

Sallyjannine

1.) 03 Jan 2022 11:42:19
He is one of the two strikers I wanted.

2.) 03 Jan 2022 15:14:01
So is that a yes or a no that you've seen him play?

(Apologies VM. just taking the p**s over the exchange below) =P.

3.) 03 Jan 2022 16:04:21
Hahahah that made me chuckle.
Who was the other player VM?
Tbh I feel like we need a CF, someone who can hold play up, is physical and disrupts defenders and can bring our widemen into play and take focus off them because we can see already how teams are doubling and trebling up on Saka.
I don’t think Isak has the physicality we need to take our attacking to the next level.
Calvert Lewin, Toney or Watkins for me are PL proven and have plenty of scope for improvement in a side like ours. I know we’re not the force we once were but we’re turning a corner and maybe the players themselves would consider it a step up.
Unless there was a deal to be done with Abraham in the summer as we really missed a trick signing him in September.
Martinelli- Abraham- Saka is a serious front three and they offer variety in attack.

4.) 03 Jan 2022 17:38:12
I'm a big Ivan Toney fan, not sure Brentford would want to let him go though.

{Ed014's Note - buying someone because you have the hots for someone isn’t always the best way Sally.

Bit like 62 refusing to sanction the sale of Calum! ??

5.) 03 Jan 2022 18:40:15
Hehehehhe the other one was the Florentina striker I won’t try and spell his name as I have trouble in that department and mostly rely on predicting text lol.

6.) 03 Jan 2022 19:28:41
Just my 2 cents, but one name Ed002 mentioned that intrigued me was Arthur Cabral. Basel CF, should be (relatively) inexpensive coming from a "lower" league. and we've had good luck with Brazilians lately =D.

7.) 03 Jan 2022 22:15:39
Tend to watch a fair bit of La Liga and Isak always looks a pretty decent player from what I have seen.

Would put him more in the PEA bracket for his style though, rather than a CF who is also physical and can bully defenders, which is what I would prefer.

Saying that though he is over 6ft so should be able to handle life in the Premiership. More importantly he probably fits the mould in that he is not in the same league as the top tier forwards, such as the Haarlands of this world, and so while the rich boys are chasing them, we might just stand a chance.

Also Real Sociadad have a reasonable track record of getting good players early who then go on to bigger and better things, with Griezman being one from memory.

8.) 04 Jan 2022 06:32:34
Play like Nicholas Anelka, but not sure if he is that quality.

9.) 04 Jan 2022 18:12:09
Made me smile Ed014 ?.

{Ed014's Note - well that’s always good news Sally ?

"Saka could be interested in Liverpool move" is not something I wanted to read today!

Sallyjannine

1.) 30 Dec 2021 13:36:42
Look at who’s reporting it. It’s pure rubbish.

2.) 30 Dec 2021 14:33:24
Put a £1 in a jar for every media football rumour you read between now and January 31st 2022,

Then on February 1st take £10 out of the jar for each and every rumour that actually happened and treat yourself to a holiday with allthe money you get back and then give all the remaining £1 coins in the jar to the politicians exownses top fund.

I guarantee you will be cured from ever being worried about or getting excited by anything you ever read or evet hear from the make pretend media ever again ????.

3.) 30 Dec 2021 14:58:09
Phew that's alright then, it put me off my breakfast!

4.) 30 Dec 2021 16:32:36
Why wouldn’t he be interested…. top Manager, great supporters, play great football and chance to win stuff. To think he’s not interested or that they are not interested in Saka, you must have your head up your ass, …. I think he will give us a couple of years but he only stays if we start winning. This will hopefully be an eye opener for the owners and Arteta that you only keep diamonds if you continually invest, play great football, decent wages and most importantly WIN SHXT.

5.) 30 Dec 2021 16:34:33
We could have hit on a brilliant diet plan there Sally!

Only eat or drink something unhealthy on the days Sky the papers and talk rubbish get gosip right!

Mind you we will all end up doing an involuntary dry January ???.

6.) 30 Dec 2021 17:21:13
I think the point Sally is making is about here and now SY mate and the possibility of losing Saka in January.

Which is why the rumours is so unbelievable.

{Ed014's Note - I think it’s safe to say every club will lose big players if you win nothing and also if you win something.

Big clubs lose big players too, Salah has yet to sign a new deal, Ronaldo left United. Kane is desperate to get away from Spurs.

Pointless stressing about this kind of thing. There’s always a bigger club or one that pays more money and or wins more trophies.

7.) 30 Dec 2021 18:25:59
Sorry Sally - I wasn’t having a pop at you.

Ed I agree but not competing or winning does put your star players at risk more than if you are winning.

{Ed014's Note - absolutely SY and they’ll want action rather than words

8.) 30 Dec 2021 19:15:02
Np Sy :) I love discussions with emotion v logic.

9.) 30 Dec 2021 19:21:37
I totally agree Ed014, absolutely pointless stressing about something that may or may not possible happen at some point in one of many possible futures.

If we haven't learned how little we really know about the future over the last 2 years then we've learned nothing at all ????.

{Ed014's Note - ????

10.) 30 Dec 2021 17:47:44
Difficult to disagree with any of those posts!

11.) 30 Dec 2021 21:32:20
Do want to pull Ed014 up! You mention Big clubs and for some inexplicable reason mentioned Spurs in the same sentence! Shamefull ??COYG.

{Ed014's Note - OMG what was I thinking! I need to go and lie down ?‍♂️??

29 Dec 2021 18:30:21
Bruno Guimaraes is being mentioned a lot today.

Sallyjannine

1.) 29 Dec 2021 21:46:25
So it is Sally, he would be well received.

2.) 30 Dec 2021 10:12:37
Hello Ed002, you mentioned in Jan '20 that we were interested in him after a move fell with Benefica (pen in hand) but his name seems to be missing from the detailed list of players previously provided
Do you see him as a realistic option for January for Arsenal?

I think he's a quality player and an upgrade on Xhaka in the long term.

{Ed002's Note - Bruno Guimaraes (DM) Lyon, like many French clubs were hit hard by the loss of broadcast revenue and may need to sell some of their more valuable assets even though they do not want to. Mr Mourinho tried to take the player Chelsea on more than one occasion and sustains his interest at Roma - and there is a good chance of an offer being made. Chelsea interest has moved elsewhere. I reckon it's time to stop chasing rainbows with Vlahovic (if we ever were of course) .

It would have been nice but time to look elsewhere methinks.

Sallyjannine

1.) 21 Jan 2022 20:17:53
Don't think we got time to look else where Sally.
Any chance we had of signing him that's if we had a chance in the first place probably went out of the window after that performance last night.

2.) 21 Jan 2022 21:40:59
Possibly Bill or we may decide to pay over the odds now. The obvious has become even more glaring.

3.) 21 Jan 2022 21:58:19
Was last night so bad if would put him off us? If he was ever interested at all that is.

All those absolute mailings by Liverpool in the league didn't put him off but last night's 0 2 was too much for him to bare.

How realistic does that sound?

4.) 22 Jan 2022 18:07:47
If it is to late I’d try Suarez for 6 months till the summer window.

5.) 22 Jan 2022 19:33:57
Would we offer £1 for Suarez VM mate ?
Not for me it's once bitten twice shy where Suarez is concerned ????????.

6.) 23 Jan 2022 13:57:45
I see what you did there G62, well played sir, well played!

19 Jan 2022 18:04:32
From the Independent and ESPN:

"FA investigates Arsenal yellow card after allegations of suspicious betting patterns.
Player not named yet and formal investigation has not been opened yet".

I don't like to read that. I hope it's not one of our players if it true!

Sallyjannine

18 Jan 2022 21:36:47
Wouldn't it be funny if we'd never been interested in Vlahovic after all ?.

Sallyjannine

1.) 19 Jan 2022 01:21:48
Benzema, Higuain, et al.

2.) 19 Jan 2022 07:53:22
He's not been seen at London Colney plus he's not even had a medical with us, both sure signs he's definitely going to be joining us ?.

3.) 19 Jan 2022 14:11:41
I'm sure not is not sarcasm 62 :)

4.) 19 Jan 2022 14:22:39
He will 100% be an Arsenal player by the end of January.

5.) 19 Jan 2022 17:28:45
I'm not sure I understand but I'm not sure I'm not sure if I'm truthful ?.

6.) 19 Jan 2022 17:54:08
?‍♂️.

16 Jan 2022 20:48:14
Just seen a list of unavailable players :

CHAMBERS injured
SOARES injured
TIERNEY injured
TOMIYASU injured
XHAKA suspended (booo! )
PARTEY Afcon
ELNENY Afcon
ESR injured
SAKA injured
ODEGAARD C.V.
PEPE Afcon
AUBA Afcon
AMN loan
FLO loan

plus an unknown C.V. case

Not sure what will be happening Thursday!

Sallyjannine

1.) 16 Jan 2022 21:09:34
I've a feeling the magic sponge will do its job by Thursday Sally, we played a game of brag with the premier league and they staked an Ace flush and against our 5 high hand.

Our good fortune but I wouldn't bank on the football league falling for the same game of bluff.

2.) 16 Jan 2022 21:46:34
5 days is a long time in football 62!

3.) 16 Jan 2022 23:25:27
It is indeed Sally, but as much as every fan of every club likes to think their club is more honest and honourable than other clubs, we'd need to be pretty naive to think we are the only ones who haven't exposed a loophole to our advantage.

All clubs do it when it suits and all clubs moan when other clubs do it and works against them, it's the nature of the business.

14 Jan 2022 19:17:01
Just seen a report from the Mirror that Auba is sidelined because of cardiac lesions. Bit worrying for him if it's true.

Sallyjannine

{Ed014's Note - that does sound worrying!

1.) 14 Jan 2022 19:51:15
C.V. after effects. Alphonso Davies at Bayern has something similar.

2.) 14 Jan 2022 19:57:08
Reporting it is possibly after his C.V. recently. Or perhaps his Malaria?

3.) 14 Jan 2022 20:04:38
Both Auba and Lemina have them following catching C. V in Dubai.

4.) 14 Jan 2022 21:26:23
Hopefully just temporary then ?.

5.) 15 Jan 2022 10:39:46
"Lesions" is a pretty weird diagnosis. I am leaning towards it being a poor explanation from the Gabon FA rather than something sinister that will affect his career, so we may hear more about this in the future. The press have all been careful to use quotes in their reporting.

Perhaps something to do with a mild bout of myocarditis.

6.) 15 Jan 2022 13:50:27
I bet he regrets that party!

Forgive my ignorance but if Elneny is still at Afcon on 31st January could he still be sold Ed?
I wouldn't mind him staying as I think he is a hard worker and seems pretty loyal which is a big plus for me.

Sallyjannine

{Ed002's Note - of course.}
