Just seen Sami Khedira has been mentioned as a possibility. Any thoughts?

Sallyjannine

1.) 22 Sep 2020 17:32:26
Is he still playing? We were linked with him back in 2014 because he's Mesuts mate, he must be in his 50s now? So yes it's a possibility 😀.

2.) 23 Sep 2020 15:30:27
Juve trying to get rid of him for a while now but no takers, so no thanks he's not the same player he was before.

14 Sep 2020 18:31:03
Just read that Wrighty has visited Auba's dad to get him to sign dat ting. I so hope this is true haha.

Sallyjannine

1.) 14 Sep 2020 20:13:12
Yes I heard Wrighty traveled to his house by unicorn Sally and returned home on time by train, ok I made the bit about the train being on time up!

2.) 15 Sep 2020 18:41:27
It obviously worked 😊.

Seems AV are serious about Emi. What a dilemma for Mikel!

Sallyjannine

1.) 08 Sep 2020 10:13:59
Be a shame to see him go, but I'd drive him there if it meant we got Partey or Aouar with the cash.

2.) 08 Sep 2020 10:32:38
As I've said before personally I prefer martinez. However leno is a top top goalkeeper. If we get good money to reinvest where needed. What worries me is that we will need to buy another back up gk.

3.) 08 Sep 2020 10:35:14
Absolutely should be keeping both this season. Games will be coming at us faster than ever before over the course of the whole season and we will need two solid keepers. Martinez's spot to lose at the moment but no reason Leno can't earn his spot back in the cups.

4.) 08 Sep 2020 11:30:44
No, they shouldn’t.
Emi wants to be #1 and as good as he’s been he’s not going to supplant Leno as first choice keeper.
Not only would Arsenal be doing right by the lad by selling him to a team he’d get to play Every match, which he deserves, but you’re also getting back funds that are needed in order to boost the midfield—which is much more of a priority for this team than having a good #2 keeper.

5.) 08 Sep 2020 11:58:11
Surely if we sell Emi we would have to use those funds to reinvest in another keeper? Unless we have a hidden gem somewhere it wouldn't be 100% profit.

6.) 08 Sep 2020 12:24:02
Right now Emi is one of the few sell-able players that they have concrete interest in for decent money. A backup keeper can be had later in the window and for not much money. They need funds and need them asap so they can buy Aouar.

7.) 08 Sep 2020 13:17:32
Why Aouar? Partey! We have to make him our priority signing or someone similar. Aouar would be nice don't get me wrong but we don't need more flair/ silky players. If we sign Aouar over anyone that brings us stability to the midfield then we deserve to fail. Sorry but it has to be said.

8.) 08 Sep 2020 21:04:49
Sell Leno - I’ve been saying it for months. he’s a great shot stopper but not a great keeper. Cash in while he’s hot. Keep Leno and promote youth. Use money on Doucouré or Partey type player.

9.) 08 Sep 2020 21:53:24
I would sell EMI along with Torreira; the sales generated would be near on covering the arrival of AOUAR. I genuinely think creative in a midfield is missing and Partey is over priced for his age and what he brings to the table! Much rather a more sensible approach to the use of our funds and take a gamble on a slightly young defensive midfielder such as Sangare.

10.) 08 Sep 2020 22:53:46
With so many different opinions from So many different people who all ultimately want the best for the Arsenal, just shows there are no easy or obvious choices. It's not as simple as Martinez or Leno there is also the question of who is easiest to sell and for how much in order to fund new signings, Martinez is by far the easiest to move on and having two really good keepers makes no sense if you have no DM at all.

11.) 09 Sep 2020 16:35:33
Is it just me or does the passing out from the back thing not work much better with Martinez in goal. Leno frightens the life out of me when he's involved.

12.) 09 Sep 2020 20:21:52
Fighters me at corners and crosses as well as organising the defence.

01 Sep 2020 21:51:18
Good evening Eds, is there anything in the supposed interest in Patson Daka?

Sallyjannine

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware - but if Aubameyangadingdong were to leave, sure.}

1.) 02 Sep 2020 00:11:57
Thanks Ed.

01 Sep 2020 15:42:57
A little bird told me we can expect an announcement at 4pm 🦉 😊.

Sallyjannine

1.) 01 Sep 2020 16:21:11
Is that a Wesley announcement Sally? :-)

Julian Draxler anyone?

Sallyjannine

1.) 09 Sep 2020 22:31:09
No thanks Sally, Just put one out!

2.) 09 Sep 2020 22:32:12
Isn't he on ridiculous wages? I've heard from PSG fans that they basically consider him their version of Özil.

08 Sep 2020 13:55:31
I'm very impressed with our young Hector. He will make a difference in his life and not just with football. Well done!

06 Sep 2020 15:14:32
I really don't like the window spilling over into the start of the season, it must be so unsettling for the team and individual players linked with moves away or incoming. I hope Auba doesn't hang out till October before he signs dat ting (or not) !

Sallyjannine

1.) 06 Sep 2020 15:48:51
The thing is Sally everyone moaned last season because the premier league window closed before the season started while other countries continued trading.
I'm with you I think the day before the season starts should be that anf you've got what you've got for the season but not everyone likes that idea.

2.) 06 Sep 2020 18:43:17
Surely it's not within the bounds of possibility for all European leagues to agree on the same date Gunner?

{Ed002's Note - Most had the same date - it was the English who were arrogant enough that they thought everyone would follow them in changing. Some leagues have other dates for specific reasons.}

3.) 06 Sep 2020 19:32:19
Yes of course it's up to other leagues to set thier own dates especially those whos seasons run from spring to autum.
It's not up to the English premier league to worry about what anyone but the English premier league does.
If I set the rules in England the window would open the day after the season ends abd close the day before the new season starts, the rules would be the same for all 20 EPL teams that compete with each other and that's what matters.

4.) 06 Sep 2020 19:41:52
The problem with that Gunner is that you should then be able to shut outgoings for clubs also. In a free trade market - That I guess would be a grey area when someone has an open transfer window.

So outgoings can still imbalance clubs and hence english clubs had to go back to the previous model.

5.) 06 Sep 2020 20:27:24
Hi K90 mate I don't see it as a problem with players leaving to go overseas after our window closes.

If it's Auba for arguments sake then you would set your own date as a club by which date you would willing to sell by, far example 2 weeks before the EPL window closes so you have chance to replace him, where as someone like Mustafi you might consider letting him go without replacing him due to our glut of CBs.

No one can force a club to sell a player past a date they are happy to do so and the selling club is perfectly entitled to say we will sell by the 20th of July if an acceptable fee is agreed but not after that date at any price.

6.) 06 Sep 2020 20:47:43
You're right there g62. Nobody can actually force a sale.
But nowadays with increase media presence and player/ agent power - Clubs are forced to sell I feel even though they wouldn't need go.

No player looks great doing it but we see it happening time and again.

7.) 06 Sep 2020 21:40:02
I think Mesut is a prime example of the power of a contract K90 mate, Mesut is prepend to give up playing to see out his contract and clubs shouldn't be afraid to do the same in reverse by saying to a player your under contract you play for is or no one for 2 3 4 or 5 years whatever, give a player a year or 2 completely out of the picture and he would soon see his options disappearing fast.
Players power only works if the club gives in to it mate and clubs trying to force a player out only works if a player gives into the being frozen out by the club.

8.) 07 Sep 2020 02:34:52
Agree with all your comments there 62.

9.) 07 Sep 2020 09:06:43
I don’t understand why the transfer window needs to be so rigid. Yes, close the day before the season starts between EPL clubs, but if another transfer window is still open, say the Spanish, then you allow clubs to both buy and sell from Spain until that window closes. I don’t see any issue with that.

{Ed002's Note - You can already sell to countries with open windows.}

10.) 07 Sep 2020 10:06:57
Thank you Banbury mate.

04 Sep 2020 21:41:51
Big well done tonight for Eddie and Reis 😊.
P. s. Leno or Martinez, discuss haha.

Sallyjannine

{Ed047's Note - Martinez for me, bigger, meaner, better. 👍🏼😁 and yes well done Eddie, can’t beat a hat trick.

1.) 04 Sep 2020 23:22:28
I'd be happy to back Martinez 100% next season and that means through brilliant games and awful mistakes alike.
You can't expect Leno to sit on the sidelines and just wait, so you pays your money and makes your choice then stand by it be it right or wrong.

2.) 05 Sep 2020 00:27:07
Emi all day long - vocal, gives defence confidence and decision making. Owns his 6 yard box.

3.) 05 Sep 2020 00:45:50
Spot on Ed. I think they're both great shot stoppers. However martinez commands the area much better and most importantly he catches as apposed to punching which takes a lot of pressure off the defence.

{Ed047's Note - yep, agree with you all, like them both but he definitely edges it for me and hopefully it seems it’s his spot to lose.

4.) 05 Sep 2020 10:41:05
As good as a shot stopper leno is, martinez feels me with more confidence. His kicking is superb too. Its really tough to call.

5.) 05 Sep 2020 21:56:39
Martinez looks an excellent keeper as said above, he fills people with confidence, could prove to be one of our best.

Totally agree Ed.

Sallyjannine

{Ed047's Note - it still seems a little crazy that we let him go Sally but if somewhere along the line it benefits us then great but difficult to see how it will.

Happy to be a Gooner today and not a ManU fan :) still nervous without Emi though.

Sallyjannine

{Ed047's Note - I’ll be watching him tomorrow against Sheffield United, hope he does really well and it’s a shame we couldn’t keep him.

I am a little concerned about 5 year contracts. 3 years and renegotiate after 2 is better I reckon.
