Just seen Sami Khedira has been mentioned as a possibility. Any thoughts?

Sallyjannine

1.) 22 Sep 2020 17:32:26
Is he still playing? We were linked with him back in 2014 because he's Mesuts mate, he must be in his 50s now? So yes it's a possibility 😀.

2.) 23 Sep 2020 15:30:27
Juve trying to get rid of him for a while now but no takers, so no thanks he's not the same player he was before.

Just read that Wrighty has visited Auba's dad to get him to sign dat ting. I so hope this is true haha.

Sallyjannine

1.) 14 Sep 2020 20:13:12
Yes I heard Wrighty traveled to his house by unicorn Sally and returned home on time by train, ok I made the bit about the train being on time up!

2.) 15 Sep 2020 18:41:27
It obviously worked 😊.

Seems AV are serious about Emi. What a dilemma for Mikel!

Sallyjannine

1.) 08 Sep 2020 10:13:59
Be a shame to see him go, but I'd drive him there if it meant we got Partey or Aouar with the cash.

2.) 08 Sep 2020 10:32:38
As I've said before personally I prefer martinez. However leno is a top top goalkeeper. If we get good money to reinvest where needed. What worries me is that we will need to buy another back up gk.

3.) 08 Sep 2020 10:35:14
Absolutely should be keeping both this season. Games will be coming at us faster than ever before over the course of the whole season and we will need two solid keepers. Martinez's spot to lose at the moment but no reason Leno can't earn his spot back in the cups.

4.) 08 Sep 2020 11:30:44
No, they shouldn’t.
Emi wants to be #1 and as good as he’s been he’s not going to supplant Leno as first choice keeper.
Not only would Arsenal be doing right by the lad by selling him to a team he’d get to play Every match, which he deserves, but you’re also getting back funds that are needed in order to boost the midfield—which is much more of a priority for this team than having a good #2 keeper.

5.) 08 Sep 2020 11:58:11
Surely if we sell Emi we would have to use those funds to reinvest in another keeper? Unless we have a hidden gem somewhere it wouldn't be 100% profit.

6.) 08 Sep 2020 12:24:02
Right now Emi is one of the few sell-able players that they have concrete interest in for decent money. A backup keeper can be had later in the window and for not much money. They need funds and need them asap so they can buy Aouar.

7.) 08 Sep 2020 13:17:32
Why Aouar? Partey! We have to make him our priority signing or someone similar. Aouar would be nice don't get me wrong but we don't need more flair/ silky players. If we sign Aouar over anyone that brings us stability to the midfield then we deserve to fail. Sorry but it has to be said.

8.) 08 Sep 2020 21:04:49
Sell Leno - I’ve been saying it for months. he’s a great shot stopper but not a great keeper. Cash in while he’s hot. Keep Leno and promote youth. Use money on Doucouré or Partey type player.

9.) 08 Sep 2020 21:53:24
I would sell EMI along with Torreira; the sales generated would be near on covering the arrival of AOUAR. I genuinely think creative in a midfield is missing and Partey is over priced for his age and what he brings to the table! Much rather a more sensible approach to the use of our funds and take a gamble on a slightly young defensive midfielder such as Sangare.

10.) 08 Sep 2020 22:53:46
With so many different opinions from So many different people who all ultimately want the best for the Arsenal, just shows there are no easy or obvious choices. It's not as simple as Martinez or Leno there is also the question of who is easiest to sell and for how much in order to fund new signings, Martinez is by far the easiest to move on and having two really good keepers makes no sense if you have no DM at all.

11.) 09 Sep 2020 16:35:33
Is it just me or does the passing out from the back thing not work much better with Martinez in goal. Leno frightens the life out of me when he's involved.

12.) 09 Sep 2020 20:21:52
Fighters me at corners and crosses as well as organising the defence.

01 Sep 2020 21:51:18
Good evening Eds, is there anything in the supposed interest in Patson Daka?

Sallyjannine

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware - but if Aubameyangadingdong were to leave, sure.}

1.) 02 Sep 2020 00:11:57
Thanks Ed.

Seeing rumours of a straight swop Xhaka for Eriksen. some very positive comments as well.

Does anyone else think its strange Arsene hasn't been commemorated in any way by the club? He had to commit to 5 years with Arsenal for the banks to fund the stadium, surely that in itself is worth honouring? I'm sure many people are not Arsene fans but I personally think he deserves to be recognised for all he did for our club and for football in general.

Sallyjannine

1.) 15 Nov 2020 14:19:55
I think it's good to leave time for the dust to settle and people to realise how good a job he really did. A statue one day perhaps.

2.) 15 Nov 2020 16:42:04
I certainly think recognising him and what he did for the club is appropriate.

Not sure when the time is right but I’d definitely support such a move

I have to say that I was lucky and honoured to see the talented team and style of football he dished up. When you think about some of those teams, the speed of counter, ability to fight and the way they played.

3.) 15 Nov 2020 16:51:49
Oh please

The last 10 years of his tenure was terrible

Give him is statue, but nots let go over the top.

4.) 15 Nov 2020 19:05:15
I agree with the statue comment by Mark would be the correct way to honour Arsenes first unbelievably brilliant 8 seasons that were the best we've ever known.
I think Arsene should always be treated as the number one vip guest at Arsenal but never be allowed any influence on the clubs future.
I prefer to remember the best of Arsene and forgive the worst as long he remains ex Arsenal.

5.) 15 Nov 2020 21:19:22
His worst is still a lot better than our present though. I think the statue will come one day.

6.) 16 Nov 2020 00:59:15
What exactly is it about Arsene that rubs so many of you the wrong way? In any job, you do your best until you are no longer required - when exactly that is, is down to the management and not you. Personally I would be thrilled if he returned to Arsenal in an executive capacity as I believe he is one of the truly good men in football.

7.) 16 Nov 2020 17:31:04
Hi wire mate, I think what it is some of us fear Arsene getting control of things again mate.
He had so much influence over everything at the club during the second half of his tenure and obviously it didn't work out well because we became less and less competitive as the years rolled by while Arsene enjoy total freedom from being held accountable for his or teams performances.
I and I am sure some others to fear Arsene getting his feet back under the table.
For me he should always be very welcome honoured and distinguished guest and celebrated as such but never be allowed to regain any power of influence at Arsenal again.

8.) 16 Nov 2020 20:50:41
Maybe it’s the lock down depression kicking in, but why do I have a feeling that Arteta will lead us into, or just above the bottom 3, get sacked, and then Wenger be asked to come in for the remainder of the season to save us!

9.) 16 Nov 2020 22:33:35
G62 I understand that, but the issue was never Arsene, rather it was an ineffectual executive structure that didn't keep him in check when he needed it. I think we currently lack vision to an alarming degree, and his expertise would be good for us. Just my view though, possibly because all my life I've only known three Arsenal managers - him, Emery and Arteta.

10.) 17 Nov 2020 07:53:51
Fair comment Wire mate.

14 Nov 2020 10:29:52
Looks like Eriksen is unsettled at Inter. Any takers?

Sallyjannine

1.) 14 Nov 2020 12:02:21
No thanks.

2.) 14 Nov 2020 12:12:03
Because of Spurs connection Malaga?

3.) 14 Nov 2020 14:08:57
A bit sally and I just don’t rate him.

4.) 15 Nov 2020 07:13:24
Agreed Mal, he’s not the sort of Manager we want.

5.) 15 Nov 2020 10:45:32
Haha Banbury, you should be on stage with the other 2 stooges.

6.) 15 Nov 2020 11:48:30

Ed002 what are your reasons for disliking Edu?

Sallyjannine

{Ed002's Note - He adds nothing to the club and was an embarrassment with the lady from Marseille last week.}

I am truly shocked Ed002. Are Mikel and Edu party to this?

Sallyjannine

{Ed002's Note - I doubt Arteta would be involved.}

Ed002 I have read that Stan has shuffled money around to free up funds for Partey. Possibly at the last minute. Would this be why Arsenal triggered his release clause so late? I truly can't believe our club would be underhand on purpose.

Sallyjannine

{Ed002's Note - The club are bottom of the pile. In the gutter and staring down. It is completely unacceptable to do this to another side. Respect clearly means nothing to the idiots involved. Last Saturday they had a meeting in London with Marseille and showed a lack of respect to them by sending a half-wit along who was unwilling to negotiate. Rapidly down hill.}

I wonder if the death of his mother has impacted the young man? I lost my dad when I was 19 and I didn't function very well for quite a while. Quite a lot to deal with on top of a different country, different league, different language etc.
