I know ed002 said CP have no interest in selling but I reckon Michael Olise wouls be a good fit for us if he ever became available.

Sallyjannine

{Ed002's Note - Michael Olise (RW/AM) PSG and Manchester City want him as cover although the departure of Mahrez will mean more opportunities now, but their focus is now on another player. Crystal Palace has no real interest in selling but know that Chelsea want to take Olise back to Stamford Bridge and Olise has made clear that one day he wants to be playing with his brother. Down the list of AM players Chelsea want but they need a replacement for Ziyech and they will perhaps push for him.}

Just reading Arteta may be willing to let Ramsdale go if he asks for a transfer. For 50m!

I reckon this could be 1 of 3 things:.

1. Its male cow's waste.

2. He values him so highly he doesn't want him to go and so is pricing him out of the market.

3. He thinks he can get that for him as there are rumours linking him with other PL clubs.

Do you have any info please Ed002? You oreviously said Ramdale was biding his tume, has that changed?

Sallyjannine

{Ed002's Note - Aaron Ramsdale (G) Ramsdale is stuck rather and needs to figure out his future with Arsenal. Wolves are very concerned about losing Sa and are keen to take Ramsdale to replace him.}

1.) 29 Nov 2023 14:51:15
Thanks Ed.

2.) 29 Nov 2023 15:33:31
I can't think of anyone (unless they are 18 or 38) in his position who would stay. I would expect him to leave for no less than £30m.

3.) 01 Dec 2023 10:11:43
if I remember correctly he signed a new 5 years deal at the end of last season so we will be in a strong position to command that sort of fee for him.

he still has over half a season to fight for his place, I am a big Ramsdale fan, but I do feel he needs to put up a bit of a fight, he came in as a no 2 and saw no problem challenging the no.1.

we are 13 games into a prem season and people seem to be telling him to wave the white flag and move on. are we going to suggest that if he became England's no,1 he should change the country if a new keeper comes along and challenges him?

he is a good keeper, but he is not a keeper that is ever going to be at a top club without the question if he can be upgraded, so if he wants to play for the top top teams then that is something he is going to have to get used to. or he goes to a Wolves and has a good career without playing at the very top IMO.

4.) 01 Dec 2023 20:15:06
But if the manager has promoted someone above you and clearly prefers him to you, how can you possibly fight for a place?

It certainly appears that MA wants Raya as his number one.

5.) 02 Dec 2023 11:40:50
I suppose the same thing happened to Tierney, another fan favourite. Mind you his unjuries probably had aomething to do with that.

6.) 04 Dec 2023 13:32:38
I guess the team to look at 62 is Man city, which is the team we are all trying to beat and compete with.

John Stones has had to continually fight for his place with several expensive defenders coming into the team, no complaints just keeps fighting.

Jack Grealish went for £100 million - but no finds himself playing back up to the new guy, no complaints just gets on with it and fights.

I don't agree with the way Ramsdale has been dropped without really doing anything on the pitch wrong (obviously we don't know about behind closed doors) but I don't agree that any player should just walk and give up after 14 games of a season because they have lost their place, regardless of the reason if we want to be a top club.

if that makes sense.

Question for ed002 please.

Are Arsenal showing any interest in Vlahovic at the moment Ed?

Sallyjannine

{Ed002's Note - Dusan Vlahovic (S) Only joined in January 2022 but financial issues that Juventus now have and goalscoring problems will determine that he is sold in the summer – but they will hold out for €70M. Regardless of his loss of form, there will be a lot of interest if he is and his agent has approached Manchester United, Chelsea and PSG. Real Madrid are also keen but, like Chelsea, have preferred targets. Chelsea were open to an exchange of players last summer but right now there is no push as his wage demands are seen as excessive and they will look to other targets first. PSG have him as a possible Mbappe replacement - but not first choice - but don't lose sight of them. As a wildcard, Arsenal may rekindle interest but would likely want to include players in any deal. Juventus have already drawn up a list of potential replacements and are working on those.}

1.) 06 Nov 2023 19:14:46
Hi ed, any interest you know of evan Ferguson?

{Ed002's Note - Evan Ferguson (S) Maybe an offer from Newcastle will eventually happen but they have other targets. Spurs are trying to offer a structured way forward for the player who needs to stay where he is for a while. Brighton offered a new contract which places him out of bounds for some years whilst the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea look on.}

2.) 06 Nov 2023 20:09:37
Thanks as always ed002.

Question for ed002 please.
Would you know if Ramsdale is looking for a move away from Arsenal please.

Sallyjannine

{Ed002's Note - I suspect he will see how it goes with opportunities.}

1.) 23 Oct 2023 20:04:46
Thanks Ed, as ever.

Good morning Ed002
Is it likely we will lose Gabriel this transfer window?

Always grateful for your insight, thank you.

Sallyjannine

{Ed002's Note - I cannot answer "likely" questions but there is certainly interest.}

Lots of discussions about Raya but perhaps he decides Arsenal are not for him and he prefers Brentford.

As Wrighty said, at Brentford he plays in front of 40,000 fans but at Arsenal its more like 40m around the world! Perhaps that might not suit him?

Sallyjannine

1.) 06 Dec 2023 21:05:38
How can you get easily out jumped by a striker when you have the ability to use your arms and hands for additional height…. Raya not the answer, Ramsdale’s not the longterm answer. I’d by Emi back as should never let him go and keep Leno is was terrible with his feet. ?.

29 Nov 2023 18:09:32
If we lose Rambo, woukd de Gea be a good 2nd keeper? He's still a free agent I think.

Sallyjannine

{Ed014's Note - have you seen De Gea with the ball at his feet Sally, utterly hopeless.

It’s a mahoosive no from me!

1.) 29 Nov 2023 18:55:13
Sorry Sally I can only agree with Ed 14 on this one.

2.) 29 Nov 2023 19:14:07
But would we get a better 2nd keeper and on a free?

{Ed014's Note - I think United may want De Gea back watching that clown Onana tonight! Terrible keeper.

He just doesn’t suit our style of play at all though Sally, just be a huge step backwards if we had to rely on him in anything more than dead rubbers in cup games.

3.) 29 Nov 2023 19:31:22
I'd take him as a number two keeper no problem Sally, in my opinion the number two keeper role is ideal for a proven keeper past his prime or an up and coming keeper looking to learn his trade, its impossible to keep two number one keepers both in their prime happy unless one is totally money motivated and prepared to sacrifice professional ambition for a few dollars more than they can get as a number one keeper elsewhere.

4.) 29 Nov 2023 19:48:07
Onana is a calamity- mistake waiting to happen as is De Gea who was on £375000 a week. Let’s not mess about tonight win the game and the group and avoid a nervy away trip in Eindhoven! 3-0 us tonight COYG.

5.) 29 Nov 2023 19:54:37
Personally Sally I’d keep Rambo n send back Raya at the end of season n promote from within…if within isn’t good enough then find a young’n that is.
Rambo was part of a team that nearly defied all odds of winning the league. in my opinion we fell short because of the injury to Big Wills not in anyway shape or form was it anything to do with Rambo. He played a blinder that season n still has that in him (and improve ofcourse) but Mikels decision to drop him like a piece of chewing gum has destroyed him (as it would anyone) Mikels done great things but this decision really irks me.

#LetsgoRambo ❤️?.

{Ed014's Note - I’m not a fan of that decision either mate

6.) 29 Nov 2023 20:02:18
I don’t see in anyway how Raya is better than ramsdale His kicking is no better that’s for sure he puts half of them out of play… his positioning is definitely worse both Chelsea and Newcastle games he’s cost us.

7.) 29 Nov 2023 23:22:02
Personally Ramsdale number one and Gea number two would be fine by me unless a top 5 keeper in the world became available to replace Ramsdale as number one. I've no problem with signing an obviously better keeper than Ramsdale but they've got to be obviously and clearly better rather than arguably better ad Raya is at best.

18 Nov 2023 10:26:38
Following Everton's points deduction, just reading a lot of their problems stem from Usmanov having his assets frozen following the Ukraine invasion.

We dodged a bullet there I reckon!

Sallyjannine

1.) 18 Nov 2023 10:46:51
Hey Sally, just like Everton will we'd have got over it. All set backs are temporary. Just ask older City fans who experienced soooo many relegations over the years before thry got to enjoy the limelight again.

Comforting words for all Everton fans, I'm still trying to come up with something for the Rochdale and Tramere Rovers fans??????????.

17 Nov 2023 10:40:01
Martinelli was used as a striker by Brazil and apparently had a good game. Could that be the answer for us with Trossard down the wing?

Sallyjannine

{Ed014's Note - I think from memory, 62 was an advocate of that idea Sally.

1.) 17 Nov 2023 17:24:45
Hi Ed014 and Sally, yes I've always felt the lad had huge potential to be a top notch striker, he has skills to spare and certainly knows where the net is as he showed last season as our top scorer.

Time as always will tell but I'd love to see him given an extended run down the middle ???.

{Ed014's Note - my memories not as bad as I thought ?

2.) 17 Nov 2023 18:26:37
Your memory is spot on Ed014 mate, I'd say you just need to read a couple of biographies and the Master Mind title is yours ???

You could be the next Fred Howsyaluck ????.

{Ed014's Note - ???

3.) 18 Nov 2023 09:22:03
I'm all for trying it out but he's currently excelling on the left, so he would have to be pretty phenomenal as a striker to justify a switch.

The same was tried with Auba and it failed pretty spectacularly. You have to be comfortable playing with your back towards the goal, control the ball in tight spaces and link up play. I don't necessarily think these are Martinelli's best qualities. He's more of a direct threat who wants to receive the ball in space facing the goal and then drive at the defence. I've been happy with how Jesus has performed (if he would just stay fit) and Trossard was also pretty convincing in the last couple of games. But maybe in a more open game or towards the end of matches Martinelli's directness could also be effective as a striker.

02 Nov 2023 13:55:54
I couldn't help but notice how many times our players got bundled off thr ball last night. I sort of feel that technical ability is great but not if it keeps getting stifled.

Answers on a postcard please.

1.) 02 Nov 2023 14:14:33
Up the Shredded Wheat intake, if their players have had 3 Shredded Wheat give our players 4 served with Ox blood instead of milk, it's the only way.

2.) 02 Nov 2023 16:51:40
We mentioned that at work Sally, we were out battled.

3.) 02 Nov 2023 23:59:56
I think it's just the approach the players take to the game. Look at David Silva, a wisp of a man yet never hustled off the ball so easily. It's because he plays with enough fire that he won't tolerate it.

I think Saka, Martinelli, Odegaard, Rice all have that quality, but there needs to be a bit more anger from the other guys. Mikel had wise words - when I lose a duel, I am upset!

4.) 03 Nov 2023 11:58:27
Very true Wire - attitude, attitude, attitude.

Mikel should have lost his ? at halftime then or set the tone before the game. Not in the newsroom after the game.

Nice to see him settling down. Looks like he's a very versatile player and with that height he has a big advantage. (get the pun? lol)

It was interesting to see how the playera reacted to Ramsdale at the end. He's obviously very popular in the dressing room. I wonder if that will colour Arteta's judgement? Mind you he has sidelined Oezil, Auba and Tierney so he makes tough calls.
