Hey Ed002 I hope you're well? I'm sure you've said on many occasions that monreal will leave and that it's time for him to move on, but I read that we are "desperate for him to sign a new contract to avoid losing him for nothing" is this nonsense or has our stance changed, thanks.

.eden.

{Ed002's Note - Yes my expectation is that Monreal will leave and certainly Real Sociedad are willing to take him on. I am not really hip to contract discussions and would need to ask, but unless Arsenal wish to keep him there is no impetus for him to sign a new deal if Arsenal want to then sell him at a profit. If Arsenal start looking to treat players in such a way, then it will become harder to recruit players.}

Thanks for the info Ed 😊.

2.) 02 May 2019 08:13:54
There were reports at the end of last season that the club were looking to acquire a left back, so it comes as no surprise that we are still looking at left backs, such as Tagliafico at Ajax. As far as Monreal goes, he will be 34 in February and has always lacked the pace needed for a top modern full/ wing back. He can fill in at CB as we have seen, which is a plus.
With players leaving this summer, such as Cech and Ramsey, others underperforming, simply not good enough or do not fit into Emery's methods, I believe that with a limited budget, particularly if we fail to qualify for nest season's CL, we may have to retain certain players, even if they are not ideal. Amongst these may fall Monreal.
We clearly need a CB, a wide attacking player and a creative mdfield player. With the reported £40m budget, I cannot see more than 3 signings, hence Monreal may have to be retained, assuming he wants to stay.

Good morning eds, any news on adil?

all the info i have seem on the length of ozil, mikhi and aubas contracts seems to be 3 and a half years, is this right? it seems mad to only tie down your record signing and the player you have broken your wage structure for to reasonably short contracts, we will have to give them massive pay rises again in 2 years or risk going through the same thing as we have this year all over again. especially as ozil knows how to play it to a tee.

.eden.

1.) 02 Feb 2018 01:32:51
I think age might have a factor they are all approaching 30 so makes sense.

2.) 02 Feb 2018 14:52:01
Clubs are giving shorter deals as the wages have risen to such high figures and in the cases of Ozil, Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang they will be entering their 30's during the term of their deals. The thing that makes no sense is the absurdly transfer fees paid for players that only have 3 and a half year deals. So Aubameyang will cost a combined total of around £87m in wages and transfer fee, for only 3 and a half years.

"Juventus have agreed a deal with Arsenal to sign Wojciech Szczesny for €16m (£14m) . He is seen as the long-term heir to Gianluigi Buffon. (Sky in Italy) " interesting if true, i haven't seen much of him in italy anyone know if he's improved alot? if he has we need a replacement for cech in the not to distant future so that could be a mistake.

.eden.

1.) 05 Jun 2017 01:00:01
Szczesny has improved massively at Roma and Ospina looks to be off. I reckon Wenger will try to keep Szczesny as understudy to Cech in the league and play him in Europe/ domestic comps, and look to replace Petr after the end of next season (just my guess) .

The stat you didn't know you needed today:
Queen Victoria died 44,000 days ago today. 22,000 days have passed since spurs last won the league. Therefore as of tomorrow spurs last league win will officially be closer to the Victorian age than the present day!

From a purely footballing point of view it terrifies me! We already lack any ambition to fight for the top 4 when top 4gets a reward, let alone fighting for the title. While lacking the ability to compete with other big 6 sides and often getting humiliated, especially when we last played against big sides in the champions league. If money and involvement is already guaranteed with no consequences you're going to maybe get half the sides actually trying and wanting.

.eden.

1.) 20 Apr 2021 19:49:39
Oops, posted too early

. Trying and wanting to win, with the other sides just happy to pocket the cash and do the bare minimum, getting humiliated every week and I can imagine that's what we can look forward to.

The admin on dulux's twitter is currently getting an earful! 😂 After spurs announced dulux as their sponsor. Their official twitter responded to tweets
"paint the trophy cabinet" with
"don't be silly surfaces should be dust free before painting" and
"can the dog play centre back? " with
"he might do a better job"
Brilliant. They've definitely earned my custom!

His contract runs out in 2021 so trying to Reclaim the title from Liverpool next season might be enough to hold him one more season.
5th place is possible for us but Sheffield United Spurs United Everton have points on the board we don't have with 13 games left.
It's a lot more doable than 4th obviously but still a mountain rather than a hill.

2.) 14 Feb 2020 22:19:37
You might get champions league football now gunner that Manchester city are banned from Europe😁.

{Ed047's Note - you not fancying your chances of scraping 5th then raver?

3.) 14 Feb 2020 22:38:08

I'm surprised they pay crazy wages in Turkey, how do they afford them?

.eden.

{Ed002's Note - They have tax advantages and direct sponsorship is allowed. Italy also have tax advantages over England and others.}

He had previously said this: "Imagine any Arsenal fan saying they don't think Lukaku is good enough he would walk into your team the fact that is he wouldn't go to yous as Arsenal are a spent force. " so he's not an arsenal fan.

.eden.

{Ed047's Note - 100% not eden, just someone seeking some attention 🤷‍♂️

Even if that is the reason, its still great news, that's been our down fall imo and hopefully it signals a change of tact, I can't remember many players they've offered a contract to when it's still in the players interest to sign, it seemed they normally let it get down to the last minute and then you either have to pay something crazy to keep them or they might go for free.

i was actually really upbeat before the tournament! Really exciting young team, on paper. But gareths going to set us up to not get beat every game rather than try and actually get the best out of the players he's been blessed with, he's got to be one of the luckiest managers agound the team he's got! I don't even expect or need us to win, I just want us to play good exciting football that i enjoyed watching (similar to how I feel about arsenal really) and he's got the players to achieve that in spades! Not getting a performance out of them against scotland, in what is basically a derby game is a travesty! how can we expect to beat France, Germany etc.
