Hey Ed002 I hope you're well? I'm sure you've said on many occasions that monreal will leave and that it's time for him to move on, but I read that we are "desperate for him to sign a new contract to avoid losing him for nothing" is this nonsense or has our stance changed, thanks.
{Ed002's Note - Yes my expectation is that Monreal will leave and certainly Real Sociedad are willing to take him on. I am not really hip to contract discussions and would need to ask, but unless Arsenal wish to keep him there is no impetus for him to sign a new deal if Arsenal want to then sell him at a profit. If Arsenal start looking to treat players in such a way, then it will become harder to recruit players.}
1.) 01 May 2019 14:50:43
Thanks for the info Ed 😊.
2.) 02 May 2019 08:13:54
There were reports at the end of last season that the club were looking to acquire a left back, so it comes as no surprise that we are still looking at left backs, such as Tagliafico at Ajax. As far as Monreal goes, he will be 34 in February and has always lacked the pace needed for a top modern full/ wing back. He can fill in at CB as we have seen, which is a plus.
With players leaving this summer, such as Cech and Ramsey, others underperforming, simply not good enough or do not fit into Emery's methods, I believe that with a limited budget, particularly if we fail to qualify for nest season's CL, we may have to retain certain players, even if they are not ideal. Amongst these may fall Monreal.
We clearly need a CB, a wide attacking player and a creative mdfield player. With the reported £40m budget, I cannot see more than 3 signings, hence Monreal may have to be retained, assuming he wants to stay.

Seri to Fulham seems like a massive coup for them!
18 Jun 2018 06:27:01
Good morning eds, any news on adil?
{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of anything new.}
1.) 18 Jun 2018 09:08:41
OK thanks mate.
01 Feb 2018 23:42:15
all the info i have seem on the length of ozil, mikhi and aubas contracts seems to be 3 and a half years, is this right? it seems mad to only tie down your record signing and the player you have broken your wage structure for to reasonably short contracts, we will have to give them massive pay rises again in 2 years or risk going through the same thing as we have this year all over again. especially as ozil knows how to play it to a tee.
1.) 02 Feb 2018 01:32:51
I think age might have a factor they are all approaching 30 so makes sense.
2.) 02 Feb 2018 14:52:01
Clubs are giving shorter deals as the wages have risen to such high figures and in the cases of Ozil, Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang they will be entering their 30's during the term of their deals. The thing that makes no sense is the absurdly transfer fees paid for players that only have 3 and a half year deals. So Aubameyang will cost a combined total of around £87m in wages and transfer fee, for only 3 and a half years.

"Juventus have agreed a deal with Arsenal to sign Wojciech Szczesny for €16m (£14m) . He is seen as the long-term heir to Gianluigi Buffon. (Sky in Italy) " interesting if true, i haven't seen much of him in italy anyone know if he's improved alot? if he has we need a replacement for cech in the not to distant future so that could be a mistake.
1.) 05 Jun 2017 01:00:01
Szczesny has improved massively at Roma and Ospina looks to be off. I reckon Wenger will try to keep Szczesny as understudy to Cech in the league and play him in Europe/ domestic comps, and look to replace Petr after the end of next season (just my guess) .

What a performance by Villa! Absolutely dominant!
22 Nov 2023 00:35:54
Jesus is back! Great news! Fingers crossed he doesn't get a set back.
1.) 22 Nov 2023 20:48:02
Fingers crossed indeed, as much as the player might have wanted to play…as the club paying his wages n with him still being in rehabilitation I would have done my upmost to keep him at the Colney rather than have him risked against such a rival as the Argies??. Unscathed let’s hope ?
❤️?.
18 Nov 2023 22:34:21
Looks like Julian Nagelsmann also has a penchant for putting players in odd positions and he's just given Arteta an exciting new idea! ?.
1.) 19 Nov 2023 14:21:14
Where's Havertz been played at this time?
2.) 19 Nov 2023 14:41:35
Left back - in the changing room ? COYG.
3.) 19 Nov 2023 16:23:24
Yeah left back! ?
"We have different formations depending on how high the opponent stands and defends - Kai won't always be in that position, " Nagelsmann told RTL before the game.
"I have a lot of ideas for him because he is an exceptionally good footballer. It's a very good option. He won't always play as the classic left-back that you might know. "
Are we sure him and Arteta aren't actually the same person?
4.) 22 Nov 2023 00:58:14
How did he play though? Honestly I would be interested to see what comes of swapping Kai and Zinchenko at the left 8 position.
5.) 23 Nov 2023 12:15:48
He actually played well and scored a goal.
08 Nov 2023 13:49:32
Surprising report from Richard Keys! This is an interesting read, especially if what he says is true about the PL broadcasting official telling broadcasters not to criticise referees.
1.) 08 Nov 2023 14:48:28
He actually came out in support of Mikel, Eden mate.
Quite surprising considering what he has said in the past.
2.) 08 Nov 2023 15:22:34
That's what surprised me bill!
06 Nov 2023 19:10:19
Not often I'll say it, but come on Chelsea!
1.) 06 Nov 2023 20:24:10
Not a chance
3 points for spuds.
2.) 06 Nov 2023 21:02:05
Phew at least no VAR incidents to discuss ???.
3.) 07 Nov 2023 01:42:25
My word what a nuts game. The highlights were half an hour long and half of that was VAR checks!
That said I don't understand how Michael Oliver is deemed a good ref after letting Udogie and Romero get away with those "challenges" in the first half. He lost control of the game.
4.) 07 Nov 2023 06:13:45
What a mental game that was.
{Ed014's Note - good to see your prediction for Spurs world domination come to a swift conclusion too! ??
5.) 07 Nov 2023 07:38:14
Reality hasn't been kind to Banburys opinions this week has it Ed014 ? ? ?
Never mind it will be someone else turn soon ?.
{Ed014's Note - very true 62 ??
6.) 07 Nov 2023 08:27:35
It will sharpie and me next John.
{Ed014's Note - I’d doubt that mate, you and Sharpie know we’re onto a good thing with this team. ?
#noneedtolookfornegatives
7.) 07 Nov 2023 08:35:43
Like the 3 stooges mate.
8.) 07 Nov 2023 09:55:30
I'm happy to be next Mark mate, I predict The Arsenal will go unbeaten in the league for the rest of this season ?.
{Ed025's Note - hmmmm..
9.) 07 Nov 2023 12:04:21
Hey Ed25, Everton going well.
{Ed025's Note - not doing too bad malaga, not the prettiest to watch because we dont have the best squad mate but the lads are playing for the shirt so we really cant complain in our situation i suppose..
10.) 07 Nov 2023 12:07:14
We haven't lost a single league game since the Newcastle defeat Ed025 mate, so I'd say my prediction is looking in pretty good shape right now ????.
{Ed025's Note - you make good point G62.. :)
14 Oct 2023 01:55:33
Thanks ed, so for example if Girona and city qualify for the CL, would Girona be excluded and if they are, would they drop to the Europa League or be totally excluded?
{Ed002's Note - The City Football Group do not have majority ownership of Girona.}
30 Jul 2023 20:49:47
That would arguably be the biggest statement of the lot! Upgrading a position we didn't really need to. 2 30+ mil keepers fighting for number 1, can't see them both being happy though! ?.
26 Jul 2023 12:59:48
Ed14 he is jelfy/ Welsh! Forgot which account he was on here ? after all the protestations and accusations at g62!
{Ed014's Note - brilliant eden, answered himself with the wrong user name! ???
26 Jul 2023 13:20:38
Thanks.
26 Jul 2023 13:11:18
Thanks ed, so does transfer price have a bearing on obtaining a permit?
{Ed002's Note - And wages, both as a percentile.}
30 Nov 2023 23:20:01
I think most people would agree with that Sy, there were other more pressing issues, he should definitely not have cost as much, but now it's done, none of that's his fault and now there's nothing that can be done apart from get behind him and hope it works out.
Like Sussex says I don't think the other players would be having it and willing him on so much if there wasn't something there and he was truly awful.
Not a comparison with Xhaka as a player, but it reminds me a lot of those rough Xhaka years when most people, myself included, despaired at him, thought he was absolutely useless, yet every manager always picked him and all the players seemed to love him.
30 Nov 2023 09:12:13
What a great position they've got in! Last game with neither team having anything to play for, fingers crossed for a nice friendly game with everyone getting a rest or a run out as needed, no rash tackles or injuries. I fully expect Saka to play though, because that seems obligatory (that might be a moan about something that hasn't even happened yet ?)
{Ed014's Note - I meant to warn you about moaning last night eden, so take this as your final warning! ??
26 Nov 2023 20:12:55
They did pick up the message about not dumping posts on the discussions page though, there's tumbleweeds blowing through there.
26 Nov 2023 11:32:00
How much had you smoked to reach enlightenment?
19 Nov 2023 16:23:24
Yeah left back! ?
"We have different formations depending on how high the opponent stands and defends - Kai won't always be in that position, " Nagelsmann told RTL before the game.
"I have a lot of ideas for him because he is an exceptionally good footballer. It's a very good option. He won't always play as the classic left-back that you might know. "
