Hey Ed002 I hope you're well? I'm sure you've said on many occasions that monreal will leave and that it's time for him to move on, but I read that we are "desperate for him to sign a new contract to avoid losing him for nothing" is this nonsense or has our stance changed, thanks.

.eden.

{Ed002's Note - Yes my expectation is that Monreal will leave and certainly Real Sociedad are willing to take him on. I am not really hip to contract discussions and would need to ask, but unless Arsenal wish to keep him there is no impetus for him to sign a new deal if Arsenal want to then sell him at a profit. If Arsenal start looking to treat players in such a way, then it will become harder to recruit players.}

1.) 01 May 2019 14:50:43
Thanks for the info Ed 😊.

2.) 02 May 2019 08:13:54
There were reports at the end of last season that the club were looking to acquire a left back, so it comes as no surprise that we are still looking at left backs, such as Tagliafico at Ajax. As far as Monreal goes, he will be 34 in February and has always lacked the pace needed for a top modern full/ wing back. He can fill in at CB as we have seen, which is a plus.
With players leaving this summer, such as Cech and Ramsey, others underperforming, simply not good enough or do not fit into Emery's methods, I believe that with a limited budget, particularly if we fail to qualify for nest season's CL, we may have to retain certain players, even if they are not ideal. Amongst these may fall Monreal.
We clearly need a CB, a wide attacking player and a creative mdfield player. With the reported £40m budget, I cannot see more than 3 signings, hence Monreal may have to be retained, assuming he wants to stay.

Good morning eds, any news on adil?

.eden.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of anything new.}

1.) 18 Jun 2018 09:08:41
OK thanks mate.

01 Feb 2018 23:42:15
all the info i have seem on the length of ozil, mikhi and aubas contracts seems to be 3 and a half years, is this right? it seems mad to only tie down your record signing and the player you have broken your wage structure for to reasonably short contracts, we will have to give them massive pay rises again in 2 years or risk going through the same thing as we have this year all over again. especially as ozil knows how to play it to a tee.

.eden.

1.) 02 Feb 2018 01:32:51
I think age might have a factor they are all approaching 30 so makes sense.

2.) 02 Feb 2018 14:52:01
Clubs are giving shorter deals as the wages have risen to such high figures and in the cases of Ozil, Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang they will be entering their 30's during the term of their deals. The thing that makes no sense is the absurdly transfer fees paid for players that only have 3 and a half year deals. So Aubameyang will cost a combined total of around £87m in wages and transfer fee, for only 3 and a half years.

"Juventus have agreed a deal with Arsenal to sign Wojciech Szczesny for €16m (£14m) . He is seen as the long-term heir to Gianluigi Buffon. (Sky in Italy) " interesting if true, i haven't seen much of him in italy anyone know if he's improved alot? if he has we need a replacement for cech in the not to distant future so that could be a mistake.

.eden.

1.) 05 Jun 2017 01:00:01
Szczesny has improved massively at Roma and Ospina looks to be off. I reckon Wenger will try to keep Szczesny as understudy to Cech in the league and play him in Europe/ domestic comps, and look to replace Petr after the end of next season (just my guess) .

Curtis Jones:

'The gaffer, the way he fist pumps the crowd, that’s kind of our thing, ' Jones told the BBC when asked about the scenes in north London.

'If they want to be stealing our stuff, it shows we’re on the right path if they’re copying us. '

Celebrating invented by Liverpool.

.eden.

{Ed014's Note - what an absolute W⚓️ shows they’re on the right path my arse! ?‍♂️?

Arteta has his own personal way of celebrating and it isn’t copying what Klopp did in Dortmund if that’s what Liverpool want to do!

They need to suck up the bitterness!

#celebratinginventedatDortmund ??

1.) 09 Feb 2024 17:55:57
I can see his point though, Imagine if any club was to steal a song from a musical film and try to pass it off as theirs and theirs alone, now that would be ridiculous act of plagiarism surely and worthy of mention.

{Ed014's Note - now that would be embarrassing! ?

Just shows how little Mr Jones knows about the history of his club.

2.) 09 Feb 2024 18:55:36
Is he the one that has a Kevin keegan hair do.

3.) 09 Feb 2024 18:56:36
Hi Ed014 mate, I can't believe all the fuss and nonsense about how a club celebrates a victory.

Obviously I could understand it a club, any club celebrated in a racist, misogynistic, politically insensitive manner because that would be a national embarrassment provoking questions being asked in thr house of commons, but to my eye's nothing remotely close to anything like that took place. All I can see is that some people's over sensitive over inflated egos have been offended by their inability to accept defeat with good grace.

Those who are still moaning almost a week later are surely an embarrassment to their club and the vast majority of their fans who would just want them and everyone else to get over themselves.

{Ed014's Note - couldn’t have put it better myself mate, you have it absolutely spot on!

4.) 09 Feb 2024 20:10:03
Hi Ed014 mate, if the boot was on other foot and any of our players, ex players or fans were behaving in this way I'd be cringing with embarrassment wiling them shut the fudge up and stop making our club a laughing stock.

I genuinely feel for all rational and reasonable Liverpool fans like Bill who had the humility and courage to come onto this page last Monday and congratulate us.

{Ed014's Note - it’s a shame as always thought they were a decent bunch. Bill a genuinely top bloke though.

Just a shame some can’t take a defeat and have to be endlessly bitter about it!

Thankfully I don’t do social media as imagine that’s been pretty sad!

5.) 09 Feb 2024 21:00:44
Me neither Ed014, twitter has absolutely no appeal for me whatsoever mate.

{Ed014's Note - think that would drive me nuts having that! ??

6.) 09 Feb 2024 21:23:30
Their just bitter brookside was taken of air.

{Ed014's Note - ??

7.) 09 Feb 2024 21:48:38
Anything driven by Elon Musk isn't for me mate.

{Ed014's Note - now that is one weird human being!

Jesus is back! Great news! Fingers crossed he doesn't get a set back.

.eden.

1.) 22 Nov 2023 20:48:02
Fingers crossed indeed, as much as the player might have wanted to play…as the club paying his wages n with him still being in rehabilitation I would have done my upmost to keep him at the Colney rather than have him risked against such a rival as the Argies??. Unscathed let’s hope ?

❤️?.

Looks like Julian Nagelsmann also has a penchant for putting players in odd positions and he's just given Arteta an exciting new idea! ?.

.eden.

1.) 19 Nov 2023 14:21:14
Where's Havertz been played at this time?

2.) 19 Nov 2023 14:41:35
Left back - in the changing room ? COYG.

3.) 19 Nov 2023 16:23:24
Yeah left back! ?

"We have different formations depending on how high the opponent stands and defends - Kai won't always be in that position, " Nagelsmann told RTL before the game.

"I have a lot of ideas for him because he is an exceptionally good footballer. It's a very good option. He won't always play as the classic left-back that you might know. "

Are we sure him and Arteta aren't actually the same person?

4.) 22 Nov 2023 00:58:14
How did he play though? Honestly I would be interested to see what comes of swapping Kai and Zinchenko at the left 8 position.

5.) 23 Nov 2023 12:15:48
He actually played well and scored a goal.

Tbf D16 after we missed out on Mudryk, we did sign Trossard, so I guess then we wanted cover and competition for Martinelli which we have now.

Thanks ed, so for example if Girona and city qualify for the CL, would Girona be excluded and if they are, would they drop to the Europa League or be totally excluded?

.eden.

{Ed002's Note - The City Football Group do not have majority ownership of Girona.}

That would arguably be the biggest statement of the lot! Upgrading a position we didn't really need to. 2 30+ mil keepers fighting for number 1, can't see them both being happy though! ?.
