Hey Ed002 I hope you're well? I'm sure you've said on many occasions that monreal will leave and that it's time for him to move on, but I read that we are "desperate for him to sign a new contract to avoid losing him for nothing" is this nonsense or has our stance changed, thanks.

.eden.

{Ed002's Note - Yes my expectation is that Monreal will leave and certainly Real Sociedad are willing to take him on. I am not really hip to contract discussions and would need to ask, but unless Arsenal wish to keep him there is no impetus for him to sign a new deal if Arsenal want to then sell him at a profit. If Arsenal start looking to treat players in such a way, then it will become harder to recruit players.}

1.) 01 May 2019 14:50:43
Thanks for the info Ed 😊.

2.) 02 May 2019 08:13:54
There were reports at the end of last season that the club were looking to acquire a left back, so it comes as no surprise that we are still looking at left backs, such as Tagliafico at Ajax. As far as Monreal goes, he will be 34 in February and has always lacked the pace needed for a top modern full/ wing back. He can fill in at CB as we have seen, which is a plus.
With players leaving this summer, such as Cech and Ramsey, others underperforming, simply not good enough or do not fit into Emery's methods, I believe that with a limited budget, particularly if we fail to qualify for nest season's CL, we may have to retain certain players, even if they are not ideal. Amongst these may fall Monreal.
We clearly need a CB, a wide attacking player and a creative mdfield player. With the reported £40m budget, I cannot see more than 3 signings, hence Monreal may have to be retained, assuming he wants to stay.

Seri to Fulham seems like a massive coup for them!

Good morning eds, any news on adil?

.eden.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of anything new.}

OK thanks mate.

01 Feb 2018 23:42:15
all the info i have seem on the length of ozil, mikhi and aubas contracts seems to be 3 and a half years, is this right? it seems mad to only tie down your record signing and the player you have broken your wage structure for to reasonably short contracts, we will have to give them massive pay rises again in 2 years or risk going through the same thing as we have this year all over again. especially as ozil knows how to play it to a tee.

.eden.

1.) 02 Feb 2018 01:32:51
I think age might have a factor they are all approaching 30 so makes sense.

2.) 02 Feb 2018 14:52:01
Clubs are giving shorter deals as the wages have risen to such high figures and in the cases of Ozil, Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang they will be entering their 30's during the term of their deals. The thing that makes no sense is the absurdly transfer fees paid for players that only have 3 and a half year deals. So Aubameyang will cost a combined total of around £87m in wages and transfer fee, for only 3 and a half years.

"Juventus have agreed a deal with Arsenal to sign Wojciech Szczesny for €16m (£14m) . He is seen as the long-term heir to Gianluigi Buffon. (Sky in Italy) " interesting if true, i haven't seen much of him in italy anyone know if he's improved alot? if he has we need a replacement for cech in the not to distant future so that could be a mistake.

.eden.

1.) 05 Jun 2017 01:00:01
Szczesny has improved massively at Roma and Ospina looks to be off. I reckon Wenger will try to keep Szczesny as understudy to Cech in the league and play him in Europe/ domestic comps, and look to replace Petr after the end of next season (just my guess) .

Anyone seen that video of Nuno Tavares and his dogs? To put it mildly, that guy is really, really weird.

.eden.

1.) 18 Jul 2024 23:52:22
My dog licks my face, but that clip is hella weird! I wish I hadn't googled it. Should have just taken you at your word about him being a weirdo!

The other big 6 managers are going to hold Arteta down and wax his head, chanting "one of us! One of us! "

.eden.

1.) 29 May 2024 05:51:51
Hold on, eden! Who are you considering big 6 managers?

2.) 29 May 2024 09:37:42
The traditional ones with lookalike bald managers, that's why I didn't say top 6 ? and Ange doesn't count, because he's at spurs.

3.) 29 May 2024 16:21:36
Thinking we need to re-evaluate what top 6 is. Emery will be gutted he's not included.

4.) 29 May 2024 17:38:49
Big 6 are the teams with all the money, top 6 are the top 6.

5.) 30 May 2024 19:59:47
sorry about that eden. My eyes read "top 6" and my mind kept thinking big 6, even when I typed top 6 myself.

6.) 30 May 2024 20:26:19
Sharpie if you didn’t have so much smoke in your eyes, you wouldn’t be getting confused

8.) 31 May 2024 10:04:34
Sharpie I’m not complaining mate. You’ve been given a job and you do it rather well

#keeponrollingson.

9.) 31 May 2024 12:42:23
Mal, love the fact you've entered the hashtag era! Well done you, ya ol cadge!

I’ve just been on a computer course at the local community centre

I’m getting the hang of this.

Mikel Arteta on if Smith Rowe is in his plans: “Yes. I look at him and what happened, in the last two seasons especially with him, what happened three seasons ago as well. ”

“Take all that. It’s the best thing that could’ve happened for him in his career if he uses it in the right way now, so don’t look back and say, ‘if, if’, no, this happened, use it. That was the best thing that could’ve happened. ”

“‘I had a great moment, I had a difficult moment, now I know what I want and how to deal with that. That’s going to make me a much better player’. You can see of a player that we have in him when he’s fit and playing at that level. ”

Great advice for anyone really.

.eden.

1.) 05 Apr 2024 13:37:51
Absolutely Eden, it's not the events that happened in our lives themselves but our thoughts and opinions about those events that cause us the most long term damage and suffering. If we continuely tell ourselves negative unhappy stories about life then we will naturally be negative unhappy people but if we let go of life's negative events quickly and move on from them completely then the future and our happiness is all to play for ????.

2.) 05 Apr 2024 18:59:24
I was so happy to see ESR start and then I wondered. How does he break through to the first team on a regular basis? Pretty difficult with Havertz and Rice always in front of him.

Seems like a very good deal, still think we're a bit short if injuries crop up, but fingers crossed.

Chelsea are weird, ship out Sterling just to sign Sancho.

I think it's a great move, he needs to be playing to get his confidence back and couldn't ask for a better place than somewhere he's familiar.

He's barely going to play here to build any confidence or rhythm here.

Nwaneri may even have gone above him in terms of who would get any available minutes for a run out.

Hopefully it goes well for him.

Yeah that capitulation was pretty bad! But like you say you played well otherwise, but that's going to shatter their confidence!

Bit worrying how open you are, when defence is supposed to be Dyche's forte.

I think potter would be quite exciting, but only if you're reasonably stable already to give him time, it took a couple seasons at Brighton before it clicked, I think I remember the first season they were flirting with relegation and he was on the brink and Chelsea didn't give him the time.

Is there no one really running the club then? Does it look like you can find a buyer?

.eden.

{Ed025's Note - Textor is in line to buy us eden but we have been here before with Friedkin and that went tits up at the final stage, if we dont get a buyer by the end of this month we could be looking at administration mate and a 9 point deduction, that would surely send us down. Moshiri is still at the helm but in name only as i think we all know its really Usmanov money, but miracles do happen and if we do survive and Arsenal win the league i will be a very happy bunny..

Hey ed25! Hope you're well?

I see lots of your fans want Dyche gone. Where do you stand on it?

Didn't he do quite well last year with the deductions and everything?

Still it's a rough start you've had and it must be pretty dire football to watch!

Would anyone be able to do a good job if you don't get new owners?

I hope things turn round for you guys.

.eden.

{Ed025's Note - hi eden, a lot of supporters are calling for Dyche,s head and blame him for the debacle that happened on Saturday mate, im on the fence at the moment but if he was replaced i would not be shedding many tears, his substitutes were awful but i have to question the mentality of the players as well, it was a total bottle job at the end but before that we played very well actually and could have easily won by 4 or 5, the 2 names mentioned to replace him according to the media would be Moyes (god forbid) or Potter but the state the club is in im not sure there is anyone in charge to sack him, i hope you are good as well mate...cheers..

You're being a bit unfair by saying it was an easy home game we should have won.

Brighton are a very good team anyway, but we were winning and pretty comfortable, until a very harsh decision changed the game, then, it's not a normal game and anything but easy, whether it's home or away, from that position a point was a good result.

Totally agree D16, I think it would be very negligent not to replace those games and highly likely to cause problems, we'd barely have any rotation when the games are every 3 days.
