Ed, have we shown any interest in Javi Martinez? Would be a good addition if he was looking for a move.

AR97 Gunner

{Ed001's Note - very little chance of it happening, there is more chance of me waking up next to Kelly Brook tomorrow morning.}

1.) Oh haha, well that puts that one to bed.

30 Aug 2013 10:38:27
Bendtner is staying

{Ed022's Note - I have heard this today and this is actually the straw that breaks my back. No more mister nice Ed022. I am furious!!}

AR97 Gunner

1.) At least we've still got the worlds greatest forward.

2.) Wengarism will be estatic.

{Ed022's Note - Bendtner is probably one of the ONLY players Malaga Gooner hasn't mentioned this summer so it makes sense that it comes true. As for Wengerism... meh!}

3.) Ed chill mate, don't forget "in arsene we trust". (yeah right)

{Ed022's Note - I am one of the most optimistic people I know, and I know a lot of people! However, I have woken up on the wrong side of the bed (I was sleeping underneath the bed) and it hasn't put me in a good mood. No sight of a signing merely adds to my grey cloud...}

4.) Welcome to the club. wtf is he thinking, this is a career ending move by Wenger.

5.) This is absolutely pathetic. I think that all fans are furious about this - it is a joke, just like out club!

6.) Ed, you can sum it up in 4 words mate. being an arsenal supporter

{Ed022's Note - I prefer the Balotelli-esque "Why always us?!" I swear NO OTHER football clubs fans SUFFER in a transfer window as much as Arsenal fans and I really don't know why?!}

7.) I hear you ed and totally agree. its a roller coaster ride being a gooner. the problem is at this moment in time all of us want to "throw up over the side"

8.) A bit of reality people - we've tried to sell him and he won't lower his wage demands. the world's greatest and Park are the only 2 players we've tried and failed to ship out. So on that front, we've had a successful transfer window. What AW was saying it is it unlikely he'll be sold now. But I don't EVER want to see Bendtner on the bench, let alone playing for our club again.

I still want to remain optimistic about transfers IN to the club - but I'm beginning to wane.

9.) The fact is, Wenger has shipped out over 20 "deadwood" players, yet he brought most of them to the club - he may have initially been able to spot a future star, but clearly he has now lost it! What happens now is anybody's guess but the thought of Bendtner back in an Arsenal shirt is just making us a laughing stock.

10.) This one is not really Wenger's fault, Bendtner is being a bit of a person and is quite hard to shift.

{Ed022's Note - Hold on a minute, who signed him? Who sanctioned his ridiculous £52,000 per week wages a couple of years ago even though he didn't look anywhere near good enough for the first team? The same wages that are breaking down every set of negotiations with any club interested in NB. Answer to all three? Wenger!}

11.) Bendtner is certainly not fit at the moment and he has issues to deal with. But if he finally gets his mind right and concentrate on his football career, I am sure he can be a massive player. I aggree he is not likely to be in the starting eleven, but still he is a good player - quite similar to Giroud. Also I can't understand why it has to be such a bad thing, that he once said he thought he was potentially one of the best forwards in the World. He clearly isn't that, but I would rather have a player who believes in himself than one who don't dare shoot being afraid to fail.

Apparently we've bid €30m for Di Maria. Any truth in this Ed's, and how much are Madrid asking for? {Ed044's Note - Again from Ed02: Di Maria was offered to PSG as part of a package with another Real Madrid player and he was at one point offered as bait for either Bale - but had no interest in a move to Spurs. If Real Madrid lose out on Bale they will move for Silva and include Di Maria in the deal, but that is now unlikely. His agent also approached both Manchester United and Chelsea and I am told that the player would not object to a move to Italy should the opportunity arise. A €20M offer for Di Maria from PSG was rejected. Arsenal approached Real Madrid about Di Maria and Benzema but Benzema is keen to stay at Real Madrid (although they would like to sell). There is a very real chance of an offer from Arsenal being made in the last week of the window, but it will need to be around €30M to be acceptable.}

Benzema is on the short list apparently, with a £39m bid to be lodged if Suarez goes tits up. Think about it, it does kind of make sense; Suarez goes to Madrid and replaces Higuain, Benzema comes to us and Bale replaces him. Thoughts people?

AR97 Gunner

1.) Just paper talk me thinks think it suarez or bust on the striker front would love gustavo here would fit in perfect

2.) Still prefer suarez but benzema is top dollar. if arsene can add fellaini and ashley williams to the mix I would be very happy.

3.) Would be a bad day. He is worse than Higuain and Suarez so I can't see it happening, then again, he is French

4.) First of all I don't see how Bale would replace Benzema, secondly - though I rate Benzema very high - he isn't the guy we need along Giroud. Him and Suarez are very different types - we need the Suarez-type IMO.
Anyways, we're talking alternatives. Benzema wouldn't be the worst of such.

5.) 08 Aug 2013 18:43:26
To address the query of "how Bale would replace Benzema" - I understand why you'd question it but it makes sense: Bale would play on the left for Madrid, Ronaldo moves up front, Benzema is sold/benched, therefore Bale replaces Benzema.

Don't think RM will sell Benzema though, he'll play up top if they don't get Bale or be benched to accommodate Ronaldo if they do.

6.) Phil17 - I agree on the paper talk front, I can't see it happening, and I think Gustavo would fit in nicely, he played well at the confederations cup in my opinion.

chas - I think either Suarez or Benzema would drastically improve our striking force.

Chess - That's what makes it logical, the fact he's French :P

50N_0F_4_G00N3R - I think he'd fit perfectly with Giroud to be honest, but I do agree we need Suarez's creativity

7.) Ar97 gunner. I totally agree. slight preference for suarez but I just can't see it happening. benzema is a top boy and would be happy if he was at the emirates.
just wish we would invite a few more people to the party, ie fellaini and ashley williams.

8.) Chas - I agree with the fact we need to widen our sights on transfer targets in terms of positions, as although a striker is important, we do lack a solid CDM and back up CB. I'd go Lars Bender and Williams

9.) Ar97 gunner. yes I totally agree but the only problem is we have a manager who doesn't want to spend.

So Metro are reporting that Marca are reporting that Higuain has put the finishing touches on his personal agreement with Arsenal, and that as soon as Madrid accept the bid from Arsenal, then it is done. Not sure about where the medical is in the deal (as in if it has been done or not) because every report I've seen on a medical have been conflicting in the sense they all say something different.

AR97 Gunner

1.) 30 Jun 2013 22:01:32
That's because the people who claim to know about these things are not telli g the truth. Likelyhood he's in Argentina having a holiday. Contract can be signed off subject to medical and players signiture. Think we where prob trying to get him as cheap as possible, why not. Feel very confident this one is going to happen. Providing we don't sign a really big player we don't expect, Higuain will be on more new away kits than any other player when available on August 1st. km

2.) 01 Jul 2013 14:31:35
Medical already done. malaga gooner told us so.

3.) There are a couple of pictures of higuain in new york, while the confeds were going on, I bet he is still on holidayl

Anyone else think Monreal + £10m for Schneiderlin would be good? Monreal is replaceable in terms of quality and Southampton need a LB, and Schneiderlin has really impressed me over the season and in his World Cup campaign. I have all my faith in Wenger this summer, COYG!

AR97 Gunner

1.) 27 Jun 2014 18:54:51
I would take 'Spyder' (thanks Jen), any day of the week.

Top quality DM.

2.) I don't want to lose LB cover, and I don't think southampton will sell schneiderlin for cheap, considering the amounts they have extracted for shaw and Lallana.

Lars Bender or Khedira is my hope, but with wenger playing beach ball before he gets back we may end up having to resign diaby

3.) 28 Jun 2014 00:18:35
They'd never bite

4.) All for replacing Montreal he's to slow for the strength and height (heading ability) but I'm aiming higher than sneiderlain. He's good for Southampton but not champions league contender ability, I expect either Everton or the slum to acomadate him. Coyg we must expect more he's no more than a sub for a good team

31 May 2014 16:02:29
What do people think of getting Lescott in as back up centre back? Free, English, experienced at club and international level. Wages might be steep seeing as he's been at City but in my opinion it'd be a good deal.

AR97 Gunner

1.) If how wanted to be a back up defender I'm guessing he'd stay at city and earn and double his money

2.) He's been released from City I think, free agent as far as I know

26 May 2014 16:40:19
Also, which centre backs are we linked with or looking at, Vermaelen sounds like he might leave and we were lucky to last a season with 3 centre backs, let alone trying a season with just 2.

Griezmann looks a very exciting player and is very direct, something I think we miss at times. How possible that he could join in the summer? Also think Aurier is a must, regardless to Sagna's situation. Cheers eds, always appreciated

Right, you're Wenger, you get to pick one;

Costa, Martinez, Pato, Berbatov, Mandzukic, Morata. Personally, I'd go for Martinez.

I know other names have been thrown about, but this are the ones I can think of at the moment.

AR97 Gunner

{Ed002's Note - Does Wenger play on-line or on his own?}

1.) Lol @ ED002's reply

Costa for me mate, a damn fine player.

2.) Costa all day long for me.

3.) COSTA! Written in capitals for dramatic affect.
Flybo

4.) 09 Jan 2014 04:17:39
Mandzuckic for me would seem a safer bet than costa, not to take anything away from costa he is a fantastic player

5.) Haha good one Ed :P just interested to see if there is a general consensus with what a best striking option would be (fans point of view obviously)

Ed, there is a fine line between being angry and wanting to have your opinion supported by people who share the same views as you, not just completely rejected. All I was getting at is that perhaps you should agree with and develop the argument of people on this site, instead of suggesting a completely different hypothesis. That's all I'm saying, and I didn't mean to sound angry at all, I was just trying to get a point across that's all.

Look, this site is for speculation, hence why called it 'rumours'. I'm just speculating, so why you shut the door to this being a possibility I don't know.

{Ed022's Note - Settle down angry! No need to get your knickers in a knot. It's just my opinion. Go calm down in a darkened room...}
