Hi Ed, what do you believe our realisitc chances of getting Lewandowski are in the summer?

Obviously he can say anything but the manner in which he called the rumoured 'done deal' between him and Bayern a "misunderstanding", etc as well as "looking for a new challenge" and admitting that he has previously spoken to Alex Ferguson regarding a premier league move (I don't see a move to Manchester now that SAF isn't manager, Moyes is in AND their current form).

An interesting space to watch.

ASEG.

{Ed002's Note - Dortmund and Lewandowski were unable to reach agreement over a new deal and they probably won't. Whilst there is no agreement in place for him to join any other club, it is clear that there has been interest from Napoli and Manchester United and some interest from Bayern Munich, who Dortmund would prefer not to sell to but the player would like to join. The player was keen to run down his contract and move to Munich at the end of the season, but he may not be a player Bayern Munich are still interested in. Real Madrid are looking to move for a striker in January and could leap to the front of the queue with a decent bid, the alternative may be Chelsea who tried quite hard to strike a deal in the summer. Arsenal were represented at a game late last season in Stuttgart and I suspect that since then Lewandowski was of interest.}

1.) Probley no chance of signing him we will instead sign a second rate striker like who will be about as good as park or bendtner or chamkha

Fabio Coentrao of Real Madrid wants out. Mid 20's LB.

ASEG.

1.) A left back is not needed! what's needed is centre back, defence midfiled, left winger and striker, possibly goal keeper aswell

2.) Coentrao also plays LW, and centre midfield.
He's a utility player, and a good one.
To be honest, if we got him for under £10m I'd take him.

3.) Mardrid paid £25ml for him so will want at least £18 for him, he plays well at LW an tha would mean no more playin cazorla out there from time to time an also can move pold in central an alternate him with giroud, yes we need a top top striker but right now don't see that happening

4.) Agree entirely with canning84, any striker we bring in during the remaining time of this window will NOT be world class.

Island Gooner, you may disagree but this is the type of player that could very well save us some embarrassment. He is available, a utility player and worth the investment. If you're holding out for the likes of Gundogan or Bender. Good luck with that.

5.) Cheers ASEG

I genuinely don't see us getting a world class striker (hope wenger makes me eat my words) but I see more of being help to ransom by someone like swansea for michu he is a good player, but let's not 4get only one good season in the PL, so they will act on araenals desperation an get at least £25ml .

Can anyone confirm whether the Debuchy Facebook (/matdebuchy) page is official?

He (if its him) just posted a link to an article "Arsenal close to signing Gundogan" but quickly deleted it.

Thanks

ASEG.

1.) Could be official page, highly unlikely the players would post publically about signings though. Gundugan is probably a likely signing for AW but a risk due to his injury, I think if the price is right he could come in but won't be an instant fix.

2.) 15 Jan 2015 13:52:54
With Arteta being out for 3 months following ankle surgery it may mean Arsene has to do something.

3.) When I say not an instant fix, it's down to fitness, before his injury he was phenominal

4.) I just can't understand it if he does sign him. yes anyone can be unlucky and pick up an injury, but you would think after the season of injuries we have had we would steer clear of anyone with a history of injuries

So as recently as today I suggested on another post that buying back Vela would be an awful decision. I also think it would be embarrassing and disastrous.

I really hope we do as the media has previously suggested, whereby we can persuade Real Sociedad to sell us Griezmann for a guaranteed, cut-price Vela in return.

Signing Griezmann along with an experienced keeper, Aurier, Pejcinovic, Schneiderlin/Khedira and Remy would be a good summer transfer session.

ASEG.

1.) While I am not totally sold on Vela's return.

If Vela is seen as a 3rd Striker, a backup Striker and backup winger, I have no issue with this decision, as it brings back a player who has much improved with game time.

in regards to Griezmann, Man Utd, PSG, Real Madrid, and Arsenal are known to have interest in the player, which means its quite likely he will go for his buyout clause or for a fee over 30 mill Euros, while I do understand he is young I do feel there are better players for those higher sums available, Di Maria being one, although his wages would be another issue.

In regards, to Schneiderlin, from what Ed's have said, and the reports from southampton, they will not sell him cheap, and they do not want to sell either. depending on who their new manager is, its very likely that Schneiderlin will remain for another year, if he performs well at the world cup, you can imagine his price.

Khedira will be our best bet, along with Aurier, and Remy as a very likely option should we not land our main striker targets.

2.) Laker - AGREE!

Sadly - based on previopus messaging, seems like griezmann is very very liekly to go to PSG, so we can rule him out.

I think vela is a bit like a 70% sale item. You probably do need it, the fit isn't perfect and you actually wanted dark blue, not yellow. but its TOO cheap to resist.

For Khedira, I have a funny feeling that along with on the pitch, m his off the pitch influence, particularly for Ozil will make all the difference in the world.

Would happily take him. Finally, For me this means, wilshere becomes part of the 3 attacking mids (4-2-3-1), and so Sanogo/Gnabry go out on loan and 1 more player upfront.

3.) 11 Jun 2014 15:57:33
I do not believe that Wenger wants Vela back nor do I believe that Vela wants to return. It definitely seems part of a negotiation for Griezmann. We sign Griezmann and return Sociedad are released from the obligation they have to Arsenal in respect of Vela.

4.) Assuming Arsenal stick to a 4-2-3-1 where exactly in the £ do you see Wilshere fitting?

I personally wouldn't have him infront of Ozil, Ox, Walcott, Rosicky or Cazorla. let alone anyone else we buy.

I'm also confused by the Serge Gnabry situation, he was brilliant when he came into the first team last year, created chances and scored a match winner. Then all of a sudden he got dropped and never played again? I'd like to see him given more of a chance.

Lady Bracewell-Smith, Arsenal's honorary vice-director for those of you who aren't completely ITK, said this tonight:

"Bring Davie Dein [back] and give [Alisher] Usmanov representation on the board if we are to have success going forward"

"And how deeply I regret selling to Kroenke"

To me this suggests that maybe Kroenke is having a much bigger influence on the transfers than first meets the eye.

For Gazidis and Wenger to admit at the beginning of the window we had an enormous capability to spend this summer, then for us to fail to do so AND for Bracewell-Smith to come out so publicly tonight. It seems there is much more going on behind the scenes here.

ASEG.

1.) She's got a nerve considering it was her that contributed to Dein being ousted from the club!

Rumour has it that Monaco may be forced to sell Falcao already.

At the moment it has been reported only by less reputable sources but what they are reporting makes perfect sense;

Currently Monaco are exempt from the French tax laws (arguably why Falcao moved there in the first place). Therefore, if the French governing body get their way and introduce the same laws for Monaco as all of the other French league clubs, the owner will be forced to pay up to a reported 75m euros due to astronomical wages he has granted his new signings.

Should this come into effect, Monaco may have no choice but to sell.

However this is in the early stages of development and should take quite a while to come about, should it happen. IF Monaco do decide to get Falcao off the wage bill (and incoming tax bill), it would most likely be January or next summer.

We can only hope.

Liverpool have officially opened talks with Anzhi over the signing of Willian (app. in the £30 million region).

Whether this is to just to bolster their squad, or to cover for the games Suarez is banned for OR to cover him should he depart, it remains unclear.

Although Arsene also seemed to avoid questions regarding spending money, when asked whether he was optimistic about signing "one of those top players", his response was "yes, I am optimistic".

I can only hope now that these two reports are linked as I am becoming desperately worried for the depth and quality of this current Arsenal squad.

I'd be very disappointed with resigning Vela. He may have had a good season at Real Sociedad but I'd much rather use him as a makeweight in a potential Griezmann dead (as suggested by the press).

I believe a solid (and realistic) performance in the transfer market would see us sign:

Aurier
Pejcinovic
Schneiderlin
Griezmann
Remy

It is no secret that Draxler wants to play for Arsenal, you just need to look at everything he has said about the club.

He admitted previously that he regularly talks to Mertesacker and Ozil about our club, as well as apparently being given a tour around Colney.

He currently is recovering from an injury and should be back within the next couple of weeks, but prior to this he has publicly declared his unhappiness with how Schalke are using him (as well as them recently signing Sidney Sam in the position Draxler wants to occupy)

It looks good for us, as long as Wenger is willing to part with the cash

it's actually an interesting piece of information. wenger stated in his most recent interview that arsenal don't have as much money to spend as has been reported.

i agree with Ed027 that it's proved in the accounts, but are the board now trying to counter gazidis' obviously personic statement at the beginning of the summer concerning rooney ("we can do that and more") and our £70 million?
