But Ed, all those other teams HAVE paid the asking price in the past so we should go that bit extra if we have to.

Like Carra said, the only group over spending at Emirates are the fans.

I work in sales. When you get in a funk it affects your performance so you have to "Choose Your Attitude".

Thing is I've been doing that for years now and I'm running close to empty.

When are things ever going to get better. We have become a complete laughing stock.

We will probably get Cabaye, and he's decent, but he's nowhere near the level we were promised at the beginning of summer.

Incompetence bordering on the insane!

It is 5am. I have been up trawling the site and thinking bout my beloved Gunners for the last 45mins.

I think we desperately need a keeper and, accepting it's not our biggest priority atm, I cannot even begin to fathom why on earth Cesar was not signed and unveiled on day dot!

Wages? Price? Agents Fees? Image tossing rights?

Absolutely NO excuse and it leads to my concerns with all our other "activity".

On a more positive note, I will say that I think Sanogo will be blinding. If we ended up having to play him more than we plan to with a CF coming in (and it doesn't happen) then I strongly believe he will pull a Ba / Benteke and smash em in out the gate!

Add that to Giroud's form, Poldi's return to fitness and Theo's unsung heroism (better stats than Bale FFS).

Couple that with the quality displayed in our defence on the run in.

Throw in the return of Jack.

Sprinkle some other shining new youngsters getting a couple of games here or there; Akpom, Gnabry, Bellarin, Zelalem, etc.

There would still be hope!

Fingers crossed either way, just don't be too surprised if the above does happen but remember it would STILL be our STRONGEST starting position for YEARS!

COYG!

1.) Post a link showing theo and bales stats not saying I don't belive u but would like to see it

2.) No chance does theo have better stats

3.) Last season in the premier league Bale scored 1 goal every 1. 57 matches, and 1 assist every 8 matches.
Theo scored 1 goal every 2. 29 matches and 1 assist every 3. 2 matches.
Technically Theo contributed a premier league goal more often than Bale did. That said, Bale is obviously the better player, stats don't tell the whole story.
Going off of that though, Bale is no where near worth £50million and Di Maria and Coentrao as has been discussed. I would much rather Bale stays then Spurs sign Soldado, Coentrao, Di Maria and spend the £50million on top to add to the signings of Paulinho and Chadli. They will without a doubt have a better team than us.
At the moment it looks all doom and gloom for us, no top signings, and little hope of a top signing at this point. But at least there is progress, I for one would rather see Gnabry and Myaichi playing as opposed to Gervinho or Miguel as opposed to Squillaci.
These players have potential, its better than watching the same old players, lacking skill and not improving. That said, our team definitely needs improvement, this squad will definitely struggle for top four due to Tottenham having improved while our squad has been weakened.

4.) At a guess i'd say that probably Theo has had more goals and assists in his career.

Leading Broadsheet reporting that Madrid are offering Higuain + £££ for Bale.

FML {Ed027's Note - I think Higuain wants to play at the highest level

Block 5 Gooner

1.) I really hope he does. If we don't sign him I'm going to be more upset than I was coming back from Wembley after the Birmingham game!

COYG!

2.) They're offering di maria, not higuain.

Is it just me?

I'm really worried about getting Reina. I think he's well past it and would much prefer Cesar.

If he comes I'll back him it I think he's too expensive and not the keeper he was - I used to think he was best in the world - wasn't it 5 goals conceded from 9 attempts after just 2 or 3 games at the beginning of last season?

Block 5 Gooner

1.) He looks like he can't be arsed any more. IMO he's looked nonchalant for three last 2 years.

2.) I would prefer Schez and Fab to Reina and Cesar.

Tom.

3.) Never mind Reina! We could be looking at the "Here we go again" situation. Today's tv gossip quotes that Man City will not pay the £53mil. release clause for Cavani. Could this indicate a switch by City to go for Higuain? Also a source says that Rooney would prefer a move to Chelski. I know that deals go on behind the scenes, but you see where I'm coming from. Another article says that we are "considering" an activation of Fellaini's release clause. I thought we had already! Oh. and Celtic have accepted Southampton's £10 mil. offer for Wanayama. but we are still interested. I'm an old cynic and I feel that a lot of fans will be disappointed. However, Wenger could surprise us with something unexpected. Let's keep our fingers crossed. The squad must be improved. The stress is getting to me!

4.) That could have a lot to do with the defense there is only so much a keeper can do!

5.) Agree, don't want Reina unless it was for about £5m. like you would prefer Cesar

6.) Yeah would prefer Cesar, Brkic, ter Stegen or Begovic.

Mark1234

7.) You think Reina is past it and Cesar isn't? Cesar has nothing to prove anymore and looks like he simply cannot be arsed

Paul

8.) If we get Reina for around 5m is be delighted

He hasn't been great lat few years but sometimes that's because players get complacent, a change of scenery may be the best thing it him and is perfect if he's no1 for 2 years then Shez can retake his place win win
Dandan

9.) We have activated his clause but we didn't make a formal offer it was a verbal agreement to match it. Media caught wind we matched it researched it to find there was no official bid and so said we were 'considering it' in the end. Truth is we have offered around 70, 00pw which is 5k lower than what he is on already at Everton but we will put another contract offer out as we want the deal done quickly.

Note: When you see the media release salary figures on a transfer pay attention this usually means somehow a figure has been leaked and then it's Chinese whispers in the papers as about 90% of papers get the correct figure wrong but at least they've sourced a concrete offer.

At best. At BEST, then it was an OPINION which was shared and not a nailed on fact.

An opinion to which I would disagree.

More likely, someone lied to someone who believed it and then told someone else who believed it just as much and that person KNEW someone who would never doubt this piece of gospel and somewhere in there is YOU.

. then you posted it on here but NONE of us believe you!

3 points tomorrow!

I would give my right arm to hear "one Arsene Wenger" chanted at Emirates again.

And "Wenger, give us a wave"

I cannot begin to tell you how scared I am that this might just be the case.

I'm blinded by love when it comes to Wenger!
