Get in there! Avatar is ours. Now for Demba Ba and a keeper to support / compete with Shezza and we'll be there or thereabouts. Still reckon we need a CB but Mert and Kosher were superb yesterday. And from the Twelve Pins to the Clock End from 1:30 through 6:30 I couldn't hear myself think. It wasn't the greatest performance but what an atmosphere. Keep that up every week and teams will be too scared to play us at the Emirates! COYG!

I suffered mediocrity through the mid-70s and the early 80s. It was horrible at times and only a couple of cup runs kept the North Bank going. I agreed with Arsenal's strategy in the late noughties and we were very close to creating perfection again in 2007-8. Since then we've slowly eroded the squad and although we have a good 1st XI we don't have anyone to rotate / reinforce / compete with the starters (less left back). I don't give a monkeys about the Spuds, but the Manx, Citeh and Chelski have squads that have competition all over the pitch. They also pay their youngsters the going rate until they've won something and deserve more. Our economic strategy does not attract the top stars and we reward potential not performance - not a great combination. Now, on the positive side, we have the money to change that and we have a good core on which to build. We are at a tipping point though. If we don't reinforce our paper thin squad with proven winners - they galvanise the squad (the Bergkamp effect) - it will be a long hard season. Whatever happens though, every morning I thank my lucky stars that I was born a Gooner! See you in the Twelve Pins on Sunday boys; COYG!

1.) Totally agree Herrick. Sadly can't join you in The 12 Pins before the game but will be enjoying a pint in The Tamal & watching the game there. Any gooners around feel free to join us

2.) You should be worried not only about Spurs but Liverpool as well can't see Arsenal finishing top five this year look at this way your squad lacks in depth and your manager has less pulling power than a clapped out ford capri all talk no action in the transfer market face it Arsenal will struggle this year end of!

3.) I remember the Brendon Batson and Brian Hornsbury times of the 70s and they were very tough times to go thorough. Things are no where near as bad as that now but we are slowly becoming a uafa cup team as we lose ground on on the teams both above us and around us

4.) Well, am glad am not only an Arsenal fan but also a huge fan of Chelsea. Goodluck gooners!

5.) Not sure how I'll recognise you Herrick but 'see' you in the Pins on Sunday!

If we truly want to compete we need 3 world class players down the spine of our team. We already have good back ups but we need real quality at GK, CB, DM and ST. I appreciate what the club has done in moving us to a superb new stadium but we are in danger of following Liverpool into the dark ages if we don't sort it out now with a real statement of intent in the transfer market. I loathe the effect Chelsea and Man City have had on the game but didn't Jack Walker do the same at Blackburn and look at them now? The Arsenal are different, we can now afford to spend this money; so let's spend it! We need to or we could end up like Newcastle. A full 50,000 seater stadium and battling for mid table mediocrity. We have quality throughout this team that just needs reinforcing with the 2013/14 equivalent of a Seaman, Adams, Gilberto and an Henry. Now, if you could throw in a Bergkamp, Pires and Campbell (pre nutty stage) I wouldn't complain. In the meantime, I still reckon we have enough to cane Spurs on Sunday though; so 'Arry can stick his predictions for spurs top four up his.!

1.) Reliable GK whom saves us us points not costs us , quality CB who has real leadership mentality and a DM who is happy to be an unsung hero. With those players we would be in with a shout of real success not trying to be 4th each year

2.) Any suggestions Gunner62 for those roles?

The atmosphere was fizzing and the ore-match drink with the Wiganers in Watsons Folly was a craic. US Gooner, I agree that the footie wasn't pretty but we got the best result today. We went through and set up a great last day of the season. At the same time, even Le Prof would have been convinced that the cheque book has come out. To call it your lowest point as a Gooner is a bit much though. You clearly weren't around in the 80s when we were truly pump! I remember when Stewart Robson was considered out 'flair' player. We need a right back, centre mid and a couple of strikers with pace and rod ourselves of Sagna (can't cross), Arteta (legs have gone), Bendtner and we're there. We need also to lose the tippy tappy football experiment. When it works it looks lovely but it takes 6-7 players to make it work and allows teams to counter at will. And with Arteta and The BFG we don't have the pace to cope. Now the BFG should stay but we need pace and power back through the heart of this team. I want a team that looks at the other one in the tunnel and thinks if you (1) play footie against us you're in trouble; and (2) fight us and you're also in trouble! We'll know in July whether Arsenal have finally got the message! But, to finish up - sorry fellas. Well done Wigan; great game. She wore, she wore, she wore a yellow ribbon, she wore a yellow ribbon in the merry month of May.COYG!

We all know Wenger can recognise talent but the problem over the last couple of years is sealing the deal(s). We are thin on the ground and have a bench of potential rather than proven game changers and no scope for real rotation. Finally, we're missing a true genius who can make the difference at the highest level, against the best teams or when we're looking for inspiration when a team 'parks the bus'. An Henry, a Messi, a Ronaldo type. Get one of those and a couple of proven winners down the spine and this team will be credible challengers this year.

Now Columbus, you're kidding mate. Bergkamp, Vieira, Gilberto, Freddy, Sol, Kolo, Lauren, Keown and the list goes on. had more heart than this era. Why? They were all winners! Also, Pat Jennings, David Seaman and Jens Lehman weren't allowed to develop into great keepers while playing for the first XI. That's madness. They were bought fully developed, as great keepers. That's what we need now along with a spine of winners. That will push this core of potential champions over the line. We pay the highest ticket prices in the league so we deserve the best players who are at their peak not potentially at their peak in 2-3 years if we develop them. Anyway, 1-0 to The Arsenal today and I am praying for 2-3 players to come in to allow us to challenge this year. COYG!

I could accept that sort of self-righteous horse Manchester United if we had even challenged for honours over the last few seasons but we've been nowhere near. We have a good first XI but we don't have a squad to compete with the Manx, Citeh or Chelski in the league let alone Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern in the CL. I don't understand how you can justify the inaction in the transfer market over the last couple of years when you look at our bench and see youngsters. When Citeh make a substitution they bring on Negredo, the Manx bring on Hernandez. We bring on Bambi. We will beat the spurs but we need World Class players back at the Emirates to provide a spark, galvanise the starters (Wilshere and Walcott have looked ordinary so far) and allow us to rotate our squad over a whole season. So, let's have some reality rather than the one-eyed rtheroric extolling the virtues of a system that is potless over the last 8 years. I love Le Prof but his record would not have been accepted at any other top 4 club. Still, no matter what happens, I'll pay my money, shout like buggery and watch The Arsenal mash the spurs tomorrow! COYG!

Spurs now have a squad that can hurt us. I don't like it but it's true. While we dilly dally they have jumped in and bought well for a couple of seasons. We have the 'diddy men' in CM but they now have Sandro/Capoue to rotate as the ball winners and a myriad of AM to hurt teams with a couple of proven goalscorers competing for places up front. Defensively, they are solid with Lloris looking more and more like a bargain buy in the sticks. Paulinho looks frightening going forward and there's Dembele, Siggurdson et al fighting just make the bench. We currently have Sanogo, Frimpong and the like to call on if Plan A doesn't work. I am worried about this season. Sunday will be fine; we'll smash the spurs at home, but with our paper thin squad I'm not sure we will cope with UCL, EPL, FA Cup and Capital One commitments. Unless Le Prof has un tres cunning plan for this window I am one worried Gooner.
