I’m sick of Rodgers bad mouthing Arsenal and taking the moral high ground. Didn’t he go back on his word to Swansea when he broke the bank for Joe Allen after promising not to target Swansea players?

And the way they went about getting Dempsey last season. There are a lot of one way roads in Liverpool.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have lost all respect now, a sad showdown of themselves. Rodgers is a joke

Agree0 Disagree0

And they try to "GO COMPARE" themselves to a big club.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree BR hasn't handled this very well.

He publically blasts and insists on LS apologising to the club, etc. to a player who wants to leave his club?
(not saying whether that's right or wrong, but the fact he hasn't done it publically).

I think LS is a proud man and rightly or wrongly feels he has been mislead.

So LS is told you will won't play until you apologise.
Erm, what do you think he's going to do? LS may very well think, fine I want to leave and don't want to play for you anymore and you've just made it easier for me. I simply won't apologise!

I am correct in believing that diego costa doesn't want a move lfc?

I think this is when henry came out with that stuff, when they realised finding a replacement might not be so easy.

Fair enough.

But I honestly think ls won't join us, but will be sold to a foreign club the last day or so of the window, probably for a cut down price (25-30mil) when lfc realise that ls won't apologise and will be a negative influence, etc.

I don't blame lfc for wanting to keep hold of their best player, but I do think whatever happens lfc have shot themselves in the foot now.

They will probably ending losing ls anyway, for less money and no replacement.

See what happens.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's sad because otherwise they've had a good window. they say no player is bigger than the club yet all rodgers talks about is suarez.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am amazed at the inability of Liverpool to find a classy manager who does things the right way. Rafa was their last decent manager. Hodgson was a shambles, then 'King Kenny' went and blew a fortune like a drunk in a titty bar having just won the lottery, and he left the club on it's knees and in the spotlight for the wrong reasons, before they went and signed Rogers, I guy I respected until now, but who has hopped from club to club the second bigger and better came along, and tried to take players every time.

What a farce. I feel bad for Liverpool fans because it's not Suarez dragging the club's rep through the mud, it's Henry who has done this for a while, and their brainless manager who needs a course in media-handling at the highest level.

Love the Ramsey bashers, I know this may have been stated before, but, before "that" game against Stoke,
Ramsey's progression was I would say, a little further fwd than young Jacks.

Its not just a physical injury when its that bad, it messes your head up, you think twice about challenges that before you would not have.

Prior to that, Ramsey was one of the most promising players we had by far, I for one am really happy for the lad because his performances back end of last year and now pre season he looks like he has turned that corner, I hope he continues to push on.

Also on Sebastian Perez, I posted a while back about him, think he could be a great DM for us, 20 as well, looked alright yesterday, pretty excited to see where it goes.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have said it all along to my Gooner mates who gave him poop when he played poor. But what you got to understand is two things 1. He had a choice of us or Manchester United and SAF was really keen on him 2. Suffered a terrible injury & trauma in that incident and for one I give big respect to the lad as he has battled back, never gone off the rails and plays for the badge. Well done Rambo keep up the hard work.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can only agree. Always been a fan of his, there is a great playe developing there.

Also think he was over coached by Arsenal the past couple of years. I remember a few times he tried to express himself and make choices against the wishes of the coaching staff, especially in attacking instead of playing the Denison crab-pass, he was getting bollocked from the sideline. But now he's more mature I think he is being given more free reign.

Hi Gooners

Giroud goal was really good one, against a top quality keeper. So was theo, hope we add some experienced 3-4 players, will make us compete and win. I think we will do a treable this time. Epl, UCL, fa cup and may be Carling cup.

here we go. c'mon wenger buy suarez/Rooney, gustavo, ginter, mesuit uzil/Di Maria.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

How can you think we will win the treble? Be realistic mate

Agree0 Disagree0

I make 150 large off a fiver if we do win all four!

Are we going to sign Sebastian Perez? This is very interesting to see player on trail playing first team match. Seems good prospect for suture with quick on feet, good with ball - but need to improve lot with tackling.

Wenger confirmed Gustavo interest.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will try to tie up a deal for Bayern Munich's £14million midfielder Luiz Gustavo this week after admitting the club finally need to start spending in the transfer window.
Wenger, who is increasingly downbeat about attempts to sign Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, admits his squad are not strong enough to cope with a Premier League-Champions League double whammy and is ready for action after a quiet summer, which has seen only French youngster Yaya Sanogo come in.
Gustavo missed Bayern's first Bundesliga match of the season and, pressed whether there was a strong interest, he said: 'It's as you say. '

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Players are all on international duty this week can't see much happening. Having a week squad is down to the manager plain and simple.

Arsenal needs a new left back/right back. we do have gibbs but we need someone else to cover him. I suggest we grab Nathaniel Clyne from southhampton fc. He is 22 years old, and chelsea were interested at one point but they aren't anymore. Clyne would be a great replacement for sanga when he leaves. Clyne is 22 and gibbs is 23 so they both have plenty of time to develop. (all players need competition, if they don't have anyone to compete with then they will become lazy. ) He is young, talented and and has a market value of 4. 5M he fits in as a perfect "wenger sining".

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Monreal?

Surely gives us the best LB coverage in the league?

Agree0 Disagree0

You've got a terrible memory, We signed Nacho Monreal in January. We won't sign a left back. CD only Two CM and an attacking player is all we need.

Agree0 Disagree0

You do know we have Monreal who plays left back? and Jenkinson who plays right back?

Agree0 Disagree0

Erm Monreal?

Agree0 Disagree0

You do know that we got Nacho right? He is a quality left back who han press Gibbs. We don't need 3 leftbacks. We do need a centerback though

Agree0 Disagree0

We have Monreal.
For Right Back we have Sagna who has played Left Back and Jenkinson who has also the I'm reserves we have Hector Bellerin so there is no need.

Things that I've learnt during pre-season.

1. Giroud is looking like a quality striker, I know it's preseason but if he can keep up this sort of form during the season then he will be scoring for fun.

2. Ramsey is looking sharp and is (hopefully) getting back to his best.

3. Gedion Zelalem, if developed correctly, can be one of the best midfielders in the world. Praised by his teammates, the 16 year old has impressed on several occasions with his vision, passing and ball control.

4. Things are beginning to change transfer wise. We obviously havnt signed anyone of note yet, but we have been genuinely trying for players like Higuain and Suarez, so it might not be this season, but in the next seasons we will be signing some quality.

5. Our young players aren't up to scratch. Apart from Gedion, Eisfeld, Gnabry, Bellerin and possibly Ollsson/Crowley, our youth set up isn't actually that great. I know you're probably thinking, 'but those names you just mentioned will be alright'
Do you guys honestly see Aneke, Afobe, Miquel, Akpom, Campbell etc. having big careers? I hope I'm proven wrong but I honestly dont.

6. Our wide play, apart from Walcott on occasions, is lacking.
I think Podolski is decent, but for me would work better as a part of a 4-4-2 in a strikers role. We have no wide trickery apart from Chamberlain, but he's only 19 and will be playing central in the future anyway. Someone like Sanchez or DiMaria would be welcomed.

7. We aren't far off the title. I know that sounds a bit crazy but I think we have found a good balance in this team. With a few quality signings added on to a team with all it's star players still at the club for the first time in years, we can mount a decent title challenge in the years to come.

Thanks for reading

(I posted this about 10 hours ago but it got lost)

So Miquel has been loaned out to Leicester, so that means we have 2 fit CB for the start of the season. Sure Sagna can deputise but that means we have 1 fit RB in Jenkinson. And it gets worse.

Last season our bench looked ok, possibly the strongest in a while. We regularly had Arshavin, Gervinho, Coquelin, Santos, Ox, Rosicky and either Vermaelen or Koscielny. Some `dead wood` maybe but some proper depth in the squad. All had their weaknesses but most of those players had something to give to the team.

This summer we`ve let Arshavin, Gervinho, Coquelin, Santos go plus Miquel now without bringing any direct replacements in. Also gone is Meade plus Bendtner and Chamakh will be loaned or sold. Akpom and Afobe? Loaned out I expect. Again, no replacements bought or can be seen in the reserves.

I`m all for loaning players out for experience, of what's left of the youngsters at the club I wouldn't be suprised if Gnarby stays and gets on the bench but Elsfield won't get a look in in the first team this year, either a loan or another year in the reserves.

The fact is, in clearing out the deadwood and loaning out players to either get experience or put them in the shop window (see Coquelin, Chamakh, Ryo etc), we MUST replace these players in the squad. Wenger HAS to bring in players of a better quality to give us depth, its simply naive to say, `Gervinho has gone, Podolski can play left every week`, they are completely different players for a start but every team has to have 2 quality/international standard players for every position. AFC atm are a LONG way of this and tbh, I don't see us getting anywhere close.

The glass half empty mind would say, we`ve missed out on countless players this summer and let others go by not considering them good enough. If Wenger doesn't think Coquelin can be the CDM this season, he must be bringing in a player of better quality. yet he let's Wanayama go to Soton and both Capoue and Paulinho go to Spurs - all three players linked to us, established internationals and better than what we have. Its madness.

I`m a long supporter of Wenger and I do trust him, but this summer we desperately need; GK, CDM, CB and a LW or ST to cover what he's sold or what we already needed. We also need squad players and depth, why can everyone see it yet the club will constantly hide behind the, `we must respect other clubs. players aren't for sale` and other BS we don't get to hear.

Win the League this season? Top 4? The way things are atm, I`d aim for top 6 if we`re lucky.

dont care what any 1 else thinks.

we have as good as chance as any other team to win the pl this season.

there seems to be a belief and harmony at the club.

lets stand together and see where it takes us

Believable0 Unbelievable0

On our day we can take anyone, but this has been the case many times before. I am on board with the optimism, but our squad is too thin to compete for major trophies at the moment. We need more than a great starting 11 with great chemistry - we need 2 quality players for every position. we are not far off but need investment

Gees, if those reports are true about Wenger's wage offer and Suarez doesn't apologise, it'll be interesting to see if Liverpool are willing to keep to the script and potentially lose money on a player who may be forced to be side-lined anyway. Either wau I think BR wished life were as simple as it were back in Swansea.

Hello all, I haven't posted for a while since i've been annoyed over the Suarez situation but having looked at the Arsenal city game, both team's were playing pretty strong line up's we won 3-1, looking at rival's for the trophy, Chelsea were humbled by madrid, Moyes has not started well and us beating city, I feel, this will be a year where we get out of the block really well, and have a really good run. This could be the year we make a genuine charge and assert our selves as contenders, Looking at fixtures I think if we start well beat the monkey and those other guys that stand there, we will be around 1st or second in december, but tough fixtures in february and march could see us falter, any way, This is the year of giroud, and when welsher shows he's better then the monkey next door. Come On Ye Arsenal

Arsenal will be the sleeper team of this season.

Especially now with our lack of new faces this transfer window and our rivals improving, people are starting to doubt us. They believe that we will not be able to scrap to 4th and that even the Europa league will be out of reach. Heck, even Liverpool fans who have been languishing just below the European berths for years are doubting us.

However if we can replicate what we did in today's game consistently, that being the key word, teams better watch out. What we were today was clinical. That's something we haven't been for years.

Hopefully Wenger will add a few more bodies to the club to further improve the starting eleven and give "quality" depth in the squad.

Stay Golden!

Cavani: "The Liverpool coach can talk about loyalty and disrespect, but maybe he needs to look up what it means.
"Luis had the chance last year to join a big club like Juventus, who went on to win the league in Italy.

"But, instead, he chose to stay and fight with Liverpool. Now, that's what you call loyalty.

"I've known about his agreement with Liverpool and understood that he would be leaving, if they were not playing in the Champions League. "

I was in Hatton Garden yesterday and spoke to an old friend of mine (chelski fan) who claims to b itk. He claims that we r in the talks with 2cdm. He didn't say names. I would hazard a guess at Gustavo and Barry. I just hope we actually sign someone. There was a lot of disgruntled supporters at both the open day and gala match, surely this must be clear to Wenger and the board.

Where are you fickle fans now? This team will win something this year

Believable0 Unbelievable0

When you have finished licking AW's boots lift your head up and remember that this was a friendly and that AW himself has said we are to thin for 55games. We will not win anything without additions to the squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Still here. Its only a friendly so don't get carried away! We have no squad at the moment, so whilst we may have a decent first 11 with injuries etc we will struggle without additions. Also there are a lot of liabilities in this team such as Jenkinson and Per who are not good enough to challenge for trophies. Without additions we will go trophyless again. Although I admire your support for him I think Wengers time is up if we go trophyless again, I think its time to move on.

No real idea what you're trying to prove, I'm Wenger fan and an Arsenal fan.

It's a banter site where people will disagree with you, you just make yourself look daft with these kind of posts.

No one in their right mind is getting carried away with pre season friendlies.

All Arsenal fans want us to win full stop no matter who may or may not be in charge. Chill out.
