Just for fun

If you could sign any player for 50 million but had to raise the money by selling first
A who would you buy?

B who would you be prepared to sell to raise the money?

Try and be realistic lads and lasses, Betner is not worth 49 million and you wouldn't even get 55 mil for a fully fit Diarby :-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Either one of Reus or Gundogan.

Would be sad to see him go, but I'd take what we could for Arteta and invest that in Gundogan, his ideal replacement. Wouldn't be much of a dent in the fee tho.

Hells teeth G62,

That's having to sell way to many 1st teamers for my liking for 1 player.

We've just got to the point where we can blow £50 million near enough and sell no one and you want me to flog some
;-)

No way, let's just make a combined bid of £60 million and buy Robert Lewandowski and Marco Rues and rip the premier league a new one.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sell nick the bender for £7m and stump up the rest for suarez (sorry G62 I know you are not a fan of suarez but I think he is the missing piece to the jigsaw)

Agree0 Disagree0

Great post mate- would have to be CR himself but I just can't put down players who I would like to sell who are valuable enough!

Agree0 Disagree0

The first bit is easy for me its Ronaldo

Now for the tough bit

Grrrrrrrr
Betner 7million Artetta 10 million (sorry) Varmullen 15 million and!! Theo ( sooooo sooooo sorry I will buy you back first chance I get) 20 million

Agree0 Disagree0

Sell:
Vermaelen
Arteta
Sagna
Diaby
Podolski
Frimpong
Park

Buy:
Reus

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't worry DG its only fantasy so in this world he don't bite or make infantile ignorant stone age comments about other players during matches so he's allowed, spit spit! :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

HarryP that is a lot to sell for one player!

talk about a thin squad then!

Agree0 Disagree0

I would sell cazorla, sorry might be controversial. For 30 million and give dortmund podolski plus 40 million For reuse, Subo and piszchek

Agree0 Disagree0

Rues is worth £40m, Subotic around £20m and Pizcheck another £12m. Doubt £40 plus Podolski would be enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

G62, sell theo? no way my friend. he had his best season last year and is finally fulfilling his potential. one of our best IMO

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah but DG don't forget we now got Ranaldo

Hi Fellow Gunner,

please, did anyone know what has being the problem with Carzola of late? he hardly feature in our recent games

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Naija, he has an ankle injury mate but should be back within the next 10 days or so

Agree0 Disagree0

We are so good now he can't get a game :-) no listen to DG on this one

Draxler has said he can see himself playing for 'one of the big clubs, namely Barcelona, real, Bayern, arsenal, Chelsea or united'. But here's the even better bit. He said he wants to model himself like ozil and is proud to be a teammate in the nation team of ozil.

So looks kinda promising {Ed044's Note - A secret message?}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Oct 2013 12:11:37
Let's hope akie that we can get him to the emirates, imagine that 6 months ago I would have said you were day dreaming, now fast forward we have bought ozil for 43 million! Come on son get your arse over here and join wengers german revolution :D

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said trev! The German revolution is happening! Hopefully draxler and either khedira or gundogan can come on over too!

I said this about 15 years ago so I really have to support Jack Wilshere strongly here, but what the solution is I don't know. But I've been saying that the time will come when we will be picking our England team from the Championship and First Division if restrictions are not made on foreign players in the Premiership and England will slip desperately down the rankings. Yes we all recognise and especially at our Arsenal that we have some well loved foreign players in our teams but what is the long term solution for our England squad? Does anyone have the answer?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's a big problem mate, no question some of the overseas player have raised our game and no one can argue with that and I don't want to see that end, but there are a lot of ave non English too.
I put forward a points award idea yesterday that wasn't the answer so? Not sure.
May be we need a billionaire backer and pay the clubs for the players who play in big games 1mil a game per players? Perhaps they would want to produce more home grown then?

Agree0 Disagree0

The problem is England playing boring football and we are all spoiled watching Arsenal.
Last night was a step in the right direction with an attacking line up.
I throught Baines proved he is a better option then Cole as he has a lot more to his game. nice to see attacking players on the Wings rather than Milnar.
You just know it won't last with a plonker hods in charge and when we come up against a good team Hoderson won't take any risks and put cole and milinar in the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we do make it to Brazil we have to look to the future and say thank you to lampard Gerrard and all over 30s, you have had your chance and take players who will be around in 4 yrs time ready for Russia. No matter who we take we want win it, last 8 is our limit but if we do that with a side that can stay together it might be a turning point? Its better than what we have done in recent times

Agree0 Disagree0

It is about ability not your passport.

It is a professional sport and quite frankly you cannot buy an English player for the same price tag as an equally talented foreign player (Foreign talent is less expensive than English talent). As a club has only limited resources and wants to win the solution then is to buy the equally talented but less expensive foreign player.

The other problem is the youth development system in England is not as good as in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, or the Netherlands.

All of the clubs would want a system like Barcelona or Munich (it costs the clubs less money and earns them more revenue in shirt sales), but there are three problems:
1. there were the restrictions in recruiting;
2. there is the lack of proper coaching at a youth level; and
3. there are less English youngsters playing football when compared to other countries.

You can try to get more youth involved in football by having more community pitches, which could be paid for out of premier league revenues.

You can divert some further revenue from the premier league to develop coaching schools and train more youth coaches so the players develop skills at a younger age.

And they have already taken steps to eliminate the territorial restrictions, which should allow the best youngsters to be trained together at the theoretically better equipped sides for handling elite talent.

I am a huge believer in the cream always rising to the top. The fact that they are not a lot of English players at the top level has to do with the English players not being good enough or being too expensive if they are at the requisite level.

The caps and bonuses may increase the number of English players, but the talent level would most likely decrease not increase.

Just my two cents, but I am Canadian, we are good at hockey and curling (not a lot of competition in those sports).

Although we did give you Lennox Lewis and Owen Hargreaves.

I don't know if anyone is like me, but don't get me wrong I am very patriotic, but bored to death of the International break. I feel like I am in limbo. Can't wait to get it out of the way so we can get back to the real football. After watching England last night I can understand people who really find football boring just how they feel. My feeling about our England team is that on the face of it any half decent premiership team would wipe the floor with them. For example last night. can you imagine a full strength Arsenal team playing against Montenegro? we would have embarrassed them. Sorry to say this but for me there is no buzz anymore when watching England play and when we qualify for the World Cup it will only alleviate the boredom of otherwise having no football to watch in the summer. Does anyone else feel the same.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The only live football I watch is all Arsenal games and world cup/ Euro champs games every two years. Apart from that I enjoy high lights on MOTD and that's enough for me. I do know I hate a world cup or euro's with no england in it. Eng v Moldova holds no interest for me but england v Germany//Italy/Brazil/Spain/Holland /Argentina etc in a competitive match now that does get my attention.
As aproud Englishman I would love us to reach a final the build up excitement no one working on the Monday and streets filled with passion after the game yes that appeals to me very much.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to agree with G62, I find international matches a bit boring but if its a big game against a big team and has a lot riding on it than I will watch it.
i'm patriotic but haven't really seen any of the England games until last night and that was only because we basically needed to win to help qualify. basically, if its important than I will watch it. how sad is that?

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe it the qualifiers format need changing.

stage one the San Marino and Luxemburg's of football play off to make it to
Stage two Scotland wales etc
Then the top 10 seeds come in joined by 14 qualifiers for 6 groups of 4 play home away top two go to finals.

Less marches for bigger teams which would please clubs and at least all games would be interesting.
Less really is more some times ( I so wish I hadn't said that last bit, yuk I hate me some times)

Agree0 Disagree0

G62, I hear what you are saying but that will never happen my friend.
why? because we, as well as all the other countries, will lose too much revenue. I hate all the boring matches against the likes of San Marino and luxembourg etc but they are worth about £3m each mate. Plus, I guess, it gives the England manager a chance to try out some of the younger and less experienced players.
That said, I think your idea is a very good one mate.

I know he might cost a lot, but Marco Reus would be the missing link in our attacking department. He would also add to the list of German players in our team.

Add a CB to the mix, maybe Zouma or Richards.

And add Hatem Ben Arfa.

There it is. Best team in the league.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Imagine getting subotic and piszchek as well as reus

Giroud is keeping Benzema on the bench for France.

That is all.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Its a friendly, benza is first choice
but giroud did not hurt his chances of becoming a regular for france

Do you not think Wenger knew Real are hugely in debt and last day dealings with them was the best strategy to obtain the best at realistic prices, Also I think Real still. need to offlod as they do want Suarez or auggero but don't have the funds, so I can see a repeat of deadline day come Jan 31st, this time we will get the hstriker and defensive mid we need to challenge.
I expect Karim and sammi will be brought in soo the Madrid mob can finance their ludicrous transfer policy.
how much, 40mil the pair, unRealistic, not in there financial meltdown and need to balance the books, its our turn to pillage la liga, and who cares if they're cup tied surely its premier league glory for this year and next Europe.
