Guys, can we please give Xhaka a break.

We were crying out for someone who's a little bit harder than the norm and all we do is slate him.

Here are Viera's stats.

96-97 = 0 Reds
97-98 = 2
98-99 = 1
99-00 = 1
00-01 = 2
01-02 = 1
02-03 = 1
03-04 = 1
04-05 = 2

And tackling has been made harder a lot more these days.

Not saying that he should carry on like he is but just, well give him a break.

Vierra could tackle. You can't compare. Xhakas no roy keane either.

Viera got his red cards mostly for being the hard man of the team, ie when an opposing player tried to rough up one of our players Paddy would go in hard on him to let the other team know that they couldn't take liberty's, Xhaka gets his reds because he's brainless, he definitely isn't adding an harder element to us at all

Xhaka has been very unfortunate with both sendings off which could easily have been yellow cards. It comes as no surprise that the same referee Jonathan Moss sent Xhaka off both times this season. He put in a dreadful peformance in the Burnley match. He managed to miss two elbows to Mustafi's face. Both were clear sendings off, as well as other contentious decisions. Xhaka has grown on me, with a fine range of passing and he is settling in well. It often takes foreign players a season to bed in and get used to the PL. I wouldn't compare him to the great Vieira, but it's good to have a player with physical qualities, especially against typical English style teams, such as Burnley, that like to play a physical game.

{Ed025's Note - yeah RG...and i have a dacia duster that looks just like a range rover.. :)

Xhaka has a lot to learn, his tackling is appalling, it's not the first time, even in that game, that he's made a similar tackle and deserved a red, it's that simple.

He doesn't even come close to Santi Cazorla in relation to what he brings to the team. He disappointed against City and Everton and needs to considerably up his game.

Xhaka has been a disappointment that's for sure. He can't control a game like Santi can and his tackling isn't good enough to dislodge Coq when everyone is fit. He improves the squad but not the first team.

I think CM is an area the club could really improve on, especially with Santi having some injury troubles.

Some of you, really! What would you be saying if xhaka played for man u spurs citeh or chelski, truth is you'd hammer him and ridicule him. The guy is a waste of space and money an embarrassment and let the club down, leaving us short and nearly costing us points. How has he helped this team so far, not at all.

Xhaka is the obvious hot topic. It's just you think about this type of player and wonder where does it go with him? He got sent off in the opposition half against Swansea for a trip. Ozil was going towards burnleys penalty area when he was scythed down. Same referee but ones a red and another is a yellow. You begin to wonder. To be fair to Xhaka I think he expected to be yellow carded against Swansea.

The tackle you are on about, the big difference was he stayed on his feet, one footed tackle/ foul, both falling over after, foul and yellow. Do people realise that became of repeat discretions, xhaka will get a 3 + 1, 4 game suspension.

I feel both of the reds were harsh and could, maybe should, have been yellows

Kinloch, you can't say he's unlucky, hard done to or not deserving. Others have got away with things but that's another debate. Letter of the law both were correct.

He does need to learn from this and I hope he does. What annoys me is consistency here. From the ref. I don't think xhaka was intending to hurt the guy. But it's 2 footed so yea law of the game straight red. Hard to argue. However how was Burnley not down to 10 men when one of them elbowed mustafi. I don't think it was intentional but jump up with tote arms like that should be a straight red. As I said consistency

What do folk think about Granit? When he first came I was a bit underwhelmed, but his solidity began to impress me - not as much I might add as the 30 yard screamers I expected him to be stroking home. He is however, not especially outstanding, I expected a lot more for the £35m fee. It goes without saying that his temperament is a bit suspect; his rash tackle yesterday could have cost us dearly. I'm hoping to be proved wrong, but the long awaited replacement for Vieira seems yet to arrive. Or am I being too harsh, or just wrong?

Gabriel Jesus (Man City) , has just run past my house, kicked my wheelie bin over and cartwheeled over my hedge.

Will somebody please tell him it was ruled out for offside.

Jesus was unlucky his first game, his first touch was nearly an assist, second touch was nearly a goal, and then he nearly turned all thoses empty seats in to people.

He nearly turned empty seats into people? Almost as impressive as when he turned water into wine
