Martin O'Neil, doing a good job for Ireland, done well at Aston Villa in the past, could he be a good replacement for Arsene, just a thought.

{Ed025's Note - your having a giraffe andy..

27 Apr 2016 22:36:01
He's the old guard mate and always been a bit shy of the really big jobs when was in his prime.
Its the next generations catching the eye now and even Mourinho at 53 is begin to look out of date now.

Big protest arranged at the weekend against norwich, this disharmony is not going away and unless there is change, it wont. Hope people take heed and act quickly and not stobournly ignore or waft it away, because kronke might own the club and wenger manage it but the fans make it.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

27 Apr 2016 19:41:31
It could potentially result in the step down of wenger! There is no way they can contemplate going into a season with mass unrest. I think they will be proactive and do 1 of two things.

1.board persuade wenger to step down gracefully
2. Keep wenger and really spend some money and get 2-3 worldies and pay the fee asked. (Only problem with that is that all selling clubs will know Arsenal are getting desperate )

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Apr 2016 20:23:51
I think the clubs attitude has just hacked people off and they have either ignored or misjudged peoples thoughts on how they actually run the club. Plus wenger is never wrong, when things go wrong and kronke is not interested in trophies at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Apr 2016 21:02:54
Maybe I'm alone in this view. But I can understand completely why people want him out. Probably is time for s change I hate saying it. But I don't think doing these things before games and during games is a good idea it clearly gets to the team.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Apr 2016 21:18:03
D16 apparently all they are going to do on 12 minutes in is hold little placards up and 12 minutes from the end the same saying "time for change" and then after the match be more vocal. But all three groups involved have said while the game is on, cheer the team on.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Apr 2016 21:30:22
That's good then. Just don't want it distracting the players. Such a shame it's come to this.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Apr 2016 22:24:37
Hopefully it will bring change with or without Arsene, shame it's come to this but when the manager of Arsenal football club says he doesn't understand why the fans are unhappy as we are what chioces are there left open to the fans but to make themselves understood.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Apr 2016 09:16:53
That's right G62 the primary objective is change . And unless we get a couple of worldies ie aubameyang, reus, griezman I can't see the fans been appeased with any other outcome.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Apr 2016 18:43:25
I continue to be amazed that fellow Arsenal fans criticise Kronke, when he does little wrong and merely allows the manager to do his job. One can critise Wenger for the way he goes about things, but owners that interfere can be a nuisance.
I just wish Wenger would go out and buy 4 or 5 top players and get rid of the dross; Mertesacker, Debuchy, Sanogo, Szczesny, Gibbs, Giroud, Arteta, Flamini and Rosciky.
Sign; Wanyama, Aurier, Ben Chilwell, Subotic and a world class striker, I would love to see Lewadowski, but would be difficult to prise away from Bayern Munich.

I suppose you can ask how well have we donexin the league since kronke took over and are his motive for him or the club and people end up making their opinions of him. Plus his sports clubs records. Not too many of them but they make a hell of a lot of money though.

Meant to end with not too many of them win things in fact none but they all make a lot of money, when they don't he gets shot.

Agree1 Disagree1

27 Apr 2016 21:28:56
Steve r - I tend to disagree with most of what you say. Kronke allows Wenger a free hand to run the club, without interference. We have been one of the most stable and successful clubs for decades, particularly under Wenger's management. Since he arrived at the club, we have had new training facillities, a new stadium, 3 league titles, 6 FA Cups, 6 Community Shields and many finals. We have continuous Champins League Football, including a final against Barcelona and have finished in the top four every season. Very few Premier League clubs have bettered his record and those have been financially doped. The criticism of Kronke baffles me, he paid handsomely for his shareholding and has taken nothing out. Of course one can criticise Wenger, but he will be a very hard act to follow. Top four isn't easy, this season Chelsea, Liverpool and either Man C or Man U will probably miss out on a top four finish and CL football next season. If we mange to get above Man City, we will have finished top of the big clubs in the Premier League. I have a horrible feeling that we will struggle post-Wenger and perhaps people like you will realise how good he was. In any event, as fans, we should get behind Wenger, particularly after all he has achieved at the club. The fans behaviour is shameful.

Agree2 Disagree5

27 Apr 2016 23:02:32
I can't knock your opinion but its not mine. The reason we have done what you say is because of huge revenues coming in and nearly every club in the league has done the same or doing so in the near future. Kronkes sports empire is not built to win things, google it and see what he has won with his many sports dealings, zip, that's what. he's upset numerous fans because of his lack of love for his teams and supporters, he won't let our second biggest share holder in to meetings, he's banned him. he's never come out and said once that he wants this club to be the biggest and best and he keeps quiet because he sees nothing wrong with this club while it is making huge profits, not winning trophies. To reward a manager year after year for not progressing in the league and for wanting to give that same man a three year contract when he has not progressed this team at all, says it all.

28 Apr 2016 03:47:23
Bang on steve. He spent money on that stat dna company. He wants to be the next Oakland As. Use stats to buy cheap for decent players. Just decent enough to keep us in CL not creme of the crop to win big titles.

Agree3 Disagree0

28 Apr 2016 06:21:21
Hopefully kronke does the decent thing and sells his shares so we can finally get our team where they should be again at the top.

28 Apr 2016 11:19:56
Steve r - I adore the naivety of fans. Kronke is a billionaire and won't sell, in any event there is no guarantee that Usmanov would be any better. Wenger is one of the world's top managers and will be extremely difficult to replace, he has taken us to the verge of the top clubs in the world. Simeone, doesn't even speak English and would be extremely difficult to prise away from Athletico, who are on the verge of reaching the CL final. I have seen halfwits suggesting replacing Wenger with the likes of Martin O'Neill! Be sensible and realistic.

Wenger is the best manager out there. A good manager will never come out and blame the people that pay him. We were doing good b4 the current owners arrived. Current owners need to leave. Bring back David Dein and watch Wengers magic.

So it's finally come out that Wenger instructs players not to shoot, following Elneny's revelation that this is the case. I recall Santi having a great shot on him when he first came, which mysteriously ceased. Now we know the truth, that many of us suspected.
I believe that a team should use a mixture of methods in order to score, including long shots, which can result in goals, not only directly form the shots, but deflections can occur when players score after the keeper deflects the ball back into play. I must admit that I find Wenger perplexing at times for a manager who is held in such high regard. The following are extremely odd: Discouraging shooting. Playing a failed zonal defensive system. Using a slow centre back (Mertesacker) in a high defensive line. Playing players out of position to accomodate them in the team. Keeping players way too long, Failing to buy players. Singing dreadful players such as Flamini. Failing to sell players that should be sold opposed to loaned out (Szczesny and Debuchy) . Giving huge contracts to poor failing players (such as Bendtner) . Not mixing the game up with long ball, etc. Playing too many small technical players in the most physical league in Europe. Rarely coaching and encouraging players from the touchline, instead sitting bent double and clutching his stomach.
The trouble is that despite all these fails he has still been a hugely successful manager and is extremely difficult to replace,

Believable2 Unbelievable7

27 Apr 2016 19:12:45
Was and isnt. If you wrote that about another manager, you would then slate him and ridicule him and wish he never became our manager. You can't write that and then defend him.

Agree4 Disagree1

27 Apr 2016 21:34:52
Steve r - of course I can write what I wrote and then defend him. His record speaks for itself. Not many managers have achieved what he has and many clubs would love to have him at the helm. Many fans are simply too young to remember the time before Wenger, when we had a 38,000 capacity stadium, no training facillities of our own, we tended to play defensive often dull football and had 9 less trophies in the cabinet. I recall finishing 17th in the old first division, with 22,000 watching us play on occassions at Highbury, when the team were doing badly. Quite who everyone thinks is going to replace Wenger and do a better job, is beyond me. So stop bellyaching and get behind Wenger. You will miss him when he is gone.

28 Apr 2016 00:12:56
Rg with huge respect you are living on past dreams. The whole game has moved on and we need to as well. With the present set up we are stuck on the top of the hill with no handbrake, are we going forward from here or backwards. You have got used to not winning the league and I haven't, and unlike like you I feel wenger and the board are not dynamic enough to take or want to take this club on.

Agree5 Disagree0

28 Apr 2016 00:15:06
Rg I also think he is easily replaceable, i'm sorry, I see too many mistakes and misjudgements from the guy. Plus he never really has took us to the top of europe and never will.

THIS IS INFURIATING!

"I used to shoot a lot when I was at Basel but sometimes that doesn't suit our style here, " Elneny said in an interview with the May edition of Arsenal Magazine. "[Wenger] taught me to be more of a team player and to be intelligent in terms of when I shoot. I also paid attention to my teammates and took their advice. That has helped me to improve my performances already. ".

27 Apr 2016 15:22:33
I said the exact same thing to my Son the other day.

When we were on 'verge' of signing Elneny, I posted on here that "he has a terrific shot on him".

It seems we are teaching him the Arsenal way. Best to pass, pass, pass than hit a 25 yard screamer into the back of the net.

Elneny, like Sanchez this season, will be 'broken in' and taught that you mustn't express yourself.

Who does Elneny think he is?

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Apr 2016 15:30:20
Its Stan and the board influence stopping our players from shooting I bet :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Apr 2016 15:46:08
I thought the same but reading into it All the top teams in Europe have an average conversion rate of 3% from distance.

We lead the polls of opportunities inside the 6 yard box which is where you want your shoots but have a dismal conversion rate this season. And very high in box shots again with dreadful conversion this season.

But this is why the ideal is not to shoot from outside the box. Its the easiest way to lose the ball.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Apr 2016 16:25:41
Galway tell bobby charlton that and peter lorimor. I think wenger would have fined them.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Apr 2016 16:58:34
It's not so much if the attempt goes in . It makes defenders think should I step up and get the block or the deflection. Every team in the league knows to flood the box. If we were less predicting then maybe we will pull defenders around and then get in behind.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Apr 2016 17:52:07
Agreed - I think we all know that in terms of "the numbers", shots/ goals ratios are much higher in the box.

But as rightly pointed out, when there are 2 banks of 4 in the way, we won't be above to tip-toe in for one-on-one chance.

Long-range shots are an option, much like deep back-post crosses to be headed in!

In an interview shown by BT before the West Ham game Mesut said he had 2 years remaining on his contract and was in no hurry to sign a new deal, also the same newspaper that is running this story are saying Bayern Munich have asked us about Sanchez.
Personally I wouldn't pay to much attention to either story as they more likely than not a mixture of guess work and a load of Benzema thrown together.
