Eds, was just wondering, where actually is Alexis Sánchez? He signed nearly a month ago, but he has not trained with the squad in Austria, do you know what he is up to? Will he start against Palace?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - He has been in London. I have yet to decide on the starting line up for CP.}

01 Aug 2014 01:16:32
Had a 'selfie' with Walcott today, so I assumed he was at training!

Agree0 Disagree0

Most of the squad were in Austria for a few days. They got back to training in London on Thursday. Sanchez has visa issues so couldn't go to Austria. Everyone's now back in London training and preparing for the Emirates Cup this weekend.

Jenkinson to West Ham on season long loan confirmed. I say good luck to the lad, hope he improves and comes back a better player.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jul 2014 23:20:31
Definitely.

He's much better off getting game time and experience with West Ham, than sitting on the bench at Arsenal.

Winner winner Chicken dinner.

My posts aren't going through

Daggggsssss what have you done

Well, I had a little voodoo doll of Remy, which I stuck pin's in, thus making him fail his Scousehampton medical.

I also have a Banbury voodoo doll, complete with moving eyes and gripping fingers. But because I like you, I have given you a little blonde playmate called Barbie, complete with false 38DD's.

But its OK now mate. I have run out of pin's, so your post's will now go through.

I'm now working on my Ed025 voodoo doll, just waiting for de!ivery of extra plasticine to arrive.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you will know when it arrives, there will be a whole fleet of trucks turn up......}

01 Aug 2014 11:00:58
The convoy has arrived 001, lol.

{Ed025's Note - i think im getting a bad press here!.. :)

Remember 025,

If people take the pi55 out of you its because you are well liked mate.

On that same basis, my wife must adore me.

Now, where's my wallet?

{Ed025's Note - who needs enemies when i have such friends on here?.. :)

01 Aug 2014 17:20:29
025,

You have friends on here?

Name them and shame them mate, lol.
(Only joking Ed).

guys we all love poldi but btn him and cazorla i'll keep cazorla anytime.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd only sell either of them if we could get Reus, Draxler, etc.

If I had to choose one to go, I'd choose Santi. I love the guy but he'll fetch for than Podolski and will contribute roughly the same as him.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jul 2014 22:10:29
I'd sell Cazorla in a heart beat, just don't rate him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ox-Chamberlaine could more than cover losing Cazorla. If anything he could be better as will be more disciplined defensively.

31 Jul 2014 23:51:44

Anyone else got a really good feeling about the Ox for the season ahead?
I think he Will emerge from the 2014/15 season as one of the premier leagues very top players. If Jack can reverse his downward trend and Mesut regain his very best form our midfield could be looking the best in Europe for the next 4 to 5 years, exciting times ahead fellow Gooners very exciting

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jul 2014 23:01:13
If fit, I think 'Ox' is going to have a great season.

'Possibly' our most direct player. Big season for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought he was primed for last season and it didn't materialise. Needs to be fit as does walcott as does wilshire as does diaby and gibbs, same old chesnut i'm afraid.

Have been thinking about the whole Khedira situation and note from the search function we first showed interest on June 11th. It seems a bid was made around a month later at approx £23m. Wages were deemed to be high.

Do you think Wenger has held back knowing he won't be available until 11 august anyway and 1) wanted to save £500k or so on wages and hoped the fee may come down too. Possible saving therefore of about £3.5m. Risky strategy but not beyond Arsene.

You could be right mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jul 2014 23:55:30
Basically he will join unless someone comes in with more money per week and will pay the clause. He's another merc chasing money, albeit a good one who might win us the title.

You might be right last minute stalemate

Ed something I've been wondering a while as I have not seen any reus to arsenal rumours outside this website-is he a player you can see joining the club? Would be very interested by response

Ed02 thanx for my earlier rumour reply. Ed02 do you have any latest regarding arsenal defensive midfielder situation? Ed02 please post and reply it. Than will really appreciate yrcreply

Hi eds, 1st post for me:
Do you know anything about William carvalho being 'put up for sale' and if arsenal have any serious interest in him? In need of a player like him before we will be competing for the league in my opinion!

Also, with rumours around firmino and Douglas Costa, does this suggest cazorla leaving is a serious possibility?

Thanks! Great site 👍

I would like carzola to stay if he doesn't we.must replace him.maybe isco.quite similar players

Fellow gooners I think we have a chance pull off the perfect window and make us as good as any team in the world . Here's how I think we could do it firstly buy Rues to fill the left wing role world class player with goals in the locker too. Buy Carvalio for DM and emergency cover at CB. A bit controversial but I would sell Santi great as he has I'd give him his wish of a return to Spain. Some will say why not Khedira well I think another box to box midfielder will hamper the progress of the Ox, and I truly believe we need a beast who is more defensive than Khedira who I agree is also world class. I look forward to you thoughts on my analysis.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jul 2014 19:25:42
I think keep Santi. We need 2 good players per position. If we sign a CDM we will be well covered in midfield. Santi went off the boil last year but he was hampered by injuries. In his first season he was easily our best player. Whether its in the CAM role or from the left he is very influential. We will have enough injuries and play in enough competitions to give younger players a chance.

Ramsey/Arteta
Carvalho/Flamini
Walcott/Ox
Ozil/Wilshere
Santi/Podolski
Sanchez/Giroud

Also have Diaby, Rosicky, Campbell and Sanogo for when injuries strike.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jul 2014 16:22:42
Just thought I'd pop in and say 'long time no see' to the man you lot call Daggy G. How do you see the coming season going Daggy, G62, Gooners? Have you got enough to win the league?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jul 2014 17:00:11
Hey Fitz,

How you doing mate?
Hope you and family in good health.

Good question. I think we are still one player short, a Defensive Mid to sit in front of the back 4 and offer some protection.

Apart from that, its probably the most confident I feel that we could have a decent crack at the title.

Agree0 Disagree0

I still think we need another experience orthodox central up top physical striker to give genuine competition to Giroud. If Giroud was not availble we have not got anybody of that ilk that is half decent as playing the central role to hold the ball up and hold off players when his back is to goal.

Walcott and Podolski have both proved ineffective when played centrally on their own and I don't see Campbell or Sanchez in that vain of a central up top striker either. Sonogo is too raw and inexpereicned to rely on as a sole main backup to Giroud in my book.

Our squad looks pretty good but I would be far more comfortable with a CF and DM as you say. We also must try and get TV5 to stay else if he leaves we are short on experienced CB cover.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jul 2014 19:30:36
I agree. People are divided about Giroud but without him, or if he is playing tired after 50 games, we are a lot less efficient in our goal scoring.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Fitz hope your ok mate and still driving the utd fans nuts with your posts :-)
Like Dags I feel we need a defensive midfielder to be a massive force and I think I will happen before the window closes.
As we stand top three minimum possibly top two, if we get a quality dmf we'll have as much chance as anyone

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jul 2014 15:23:41
If we are to offer the release clause of reus(27 mill) plus vermalaen in a swap deal I think Dortmund would be tempted to sell. That is if they loose hummels to barca. And Reus gets to play alongside his idol. Rosicky! Everybody is happy!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jul 2014 16:23:39
So they say it's 27m and we reply with ok how bout 27m and tv5 lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jul 2014 16:30:56
good to see i'm not the only one who added that up like that!

Agree0 Disagree0

Its 27 mill but dosnt mean they necessarily have to sell him to us as there will be other clubs who can offer more than 40 mill for Reus! So figure.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jul 2014 18:05:09
No mate, IF his release clause is £27m they HAVE to sell him to a bidder who offers that or above.

Reus himself could turn a bidder down though, that's the only way it could stop a bidder buying him for the clause.

Not that clauses actually mean anything nowadays it seems

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - your right there D..

They have to accept any bid meeting the release clause. If it is £27m, they will accept £27m.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol well they should accept 27m I guess, but I do see what you are saying release clauses seem to mean little, suarez ring any bells lol

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree. In that case I hope we have inserted a 50 mill release clause into Aaron ramsey's contract! Just so that I don't have to worry too much if barca or real comes calling for him in the future!

With Jenkinson heading out. am I the only one who things we are a defender short?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jul 2014 17:06:59
We are OK at RB with Debuchy and Chambers and at left back with Gibbs and Monreal.

Hopefully, TV5 stays as Centre back cover, which Chambers can also do.

I don't think we are too bad.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Vermaelen stays, which I think he might, we are fine. Heard that Monreal could be on his way out though, then we'd be short.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Verm goes we need a Cb.

Agree0 Disagree0

As long as TV5 stays it would be ok to loan Jenks. But if TV5 leaves that leaves us short with Chambers having to cover both RB and CB positions. I rather we keep TV5 if possible as our 3rd CB as getting an expereicned replacement will not be easy.

Anyone else seen the video of Oxlaide-Chamberlain's ridiculously good controlling of a ball out of the air?

The ball is coming over his shoulder and he leaps several feet into the air, controls it to within an inch of his foot, takes a touch as he lands, before pulling an outrageous drag back to then run away.

If you see the extended video (search for it online) it shows Chamberlain carry on his run, swing in a beauty of a cross and Sanago flies in with a diving header from less than 6yds!

Only problem is, Szczesny pulls of a worldie of a save (more by luck than judgement) and denies Sanago a goal in training!

You'd think they'd let a few in just to boost the lads confidence if nothing else!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jul 2014 13:21:16
I believed you until you said " Sanogo flies In with a diving header".

Master class by Martinez, he knew that if he sold Fellani to untd they'd realise how sh!te he was, then untd would have to buy mata, lukaku would be disillusioned by this and push a permanent move to everton. Genius. :P

Why are we still willing to pay a £24 million fee for Khedira?
He's got a year left on his contract, Real are desperate to get him off the books and Bayern are prepared to wait a year, then pick him up for nowt.
Even if we could pick him up for a greatly reduced fee, we may simply be storing up trouble for next summer.
Go for Carvalho who will be delighted to substantially increase his wages and who will still have the ambition to improve. Khedira's age and salary means we will always have a player with a depreciating value.
As for Iker Casillas, I sincerely hope this in the persistent rumour category that has no substance a la Balotelli.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hmmmmm don't know about that mate as we are not a selling club re-sale value has little or no meaning. More the fact he is a great player who has proved him self a lot more than Carvalho + would not be that much more in price than him! And the fact he is Ozils best mate can only boost Ozils confidence so win win win situation. Much prefer Khedira to Carvalho

Agree0 Disagree0

Just my opinion but I prefer carvalho. khadira while world class and I would take him obviously is at his peak and won't improve much carvalho is 5 years younger has the potential to be even better, is a more defencive player and can give us 5 more years service

31 Jul 2014 10:11:55
To balance & complete our squad, we really need 2 CB's (assuming Vermaelen goes) & 1 DM. I believe Wenger has many attacking options, so I don't think he will sign another forward.

Selling-wise, I think the following:
Vermaelen £10m
Djourou £3m
Cazorla £15m
Podolski £12m

Loan-wise
Jenkinson
Gnabry
Coquelin

Thoughts fellow gooners.
Miyaichi

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We can't sell Podolski and Cazorla without replacing them - that would be crazy.

I would try to keep Vermaelen, and not necessarily loan out Jenkinson and Gnabry, but Probably sell Coquelin

Agree0 Disagree0

Keep Pod for sure he is great for the team and is deadly in front of goal. I think depending on how Miquel and Chambers do in the emirates cup we can go with them as the back up CB options and keep Jenks for RB + go all out for Khedira/Vidal at CDM!

Agree0 Disagree0

I have feeling Carzarlo may well be sold to Atletico Madrid, Podolski will stay to compete with Sanchez for that left side attacking position. Walcott and Ozil will compete for the right side spot with Giroud in middle.
We just have too many players for those wide positions so I think something will give.

We have to try and keep hold of TV5 else we will be short on CB cover, yes we have chambers but he is not exactly an experianced option and neither is Jenkinson who could also play CB. Djouro is still on the books But I can't see him ever wanting to come back.

I think Gnarby wants to stay and not go on loan and Like I say we need to keep Jenkinson aswell. Coquelin I don't think has real future with us so should be sold.

Agree0 Disagree0

For me Ryo can join your list of players who could be sold.
Far too light weight in my opinion

Anyone else think that both Manchester football clubs names are also the perfect name for gay bars.

"Do you want to get a drink at Man City?"

"Hi. Do you fancy going for a dance at Man United?"

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Spurs sounds like a village people tribute club to me, mind you I think we might just be on dodgy ground here DR Green :-)

Also explains why van persie's missus wasn't happy about him going to man united

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair, the name of our club is open to a certain amount of innuendo.

"Signing Alexis Sanchez a mistake" - ex-Arsenal defender Silvestre

Signing you was a mistake. You didn't complain then!

Ignoring that he is a marquee signing and its great to see Arsenal buying big-names. He is also EXACTLY the player we need. There is no certainty when Theo is back and we definitely lacked pace.

I would like to see cover for Giroud come in, but until Wenger finds a capable young player or veteran (ie someone willing to sit on the bench), then the better solution is to have versitile attackets so that we can change the system if need be.

I think the entire footballing world besides Silvestre can see Sanchez was a good buy for you.

Agree0 Disagree0

Silvestre, who is one of the worst signings ever made by Arsene Wenger, criticizes the same man for bringing in one of the best signings he's ever made.

The irony is just pure genius.

31 Jul 2014 09:38:26
Ok, picture the scene.

You're Arsene Wenger, you've made four good signings nice and early in the transfer window. (Makes a bloody change!)

The Emirates Cup is this weekend, all players get a run out and do well. We win the Emirates Cup and the mood in the camp is optimistic ahead of a community shield meeting with champions Man City, but you know there is one piece of the jigsaw missing.

You can buy ONE player to complete your spending. Who do you buy and for how much?

For me, I'd sign Reus for whatever it takes!

Admire Gnabry's guts for declining a loan move. Boy wants to play for the Arsenal and he don't care whose infront of him, he wants to fight for a place.

Sort of spirited player we need.

Kids got the guts and the ability to go far imo.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Fair play if this is true. I like the kid and think he has a BIG future. Let's see what he can do!

Can't stand Mourinho, but any manager who can get nearly £80m for David Luiz and Romelu Lukaku deserves respect.

(Can understand Lukaku but Luiz for £50m?).

Believable0 Unbelievable0

A pat on the back, yes. A word of praise, maybe. Respect? Hell to the NO!
Buying a talented player so someone else doesn't, paying none of his wages, loaning him out so some other club can further develop him and sell him on for a payout is the business that Chelsea choose to do. It helps balance their books but it's hardly anything to be proud about.
The only justifiable positive response one can display (mostly for Chelsea fans) for this sort of dealing is the ashamed, guilt-ridden satisfaction one feels after eating a whole cake by yourself

Agree0 Disagree0

Considering they had 29 players out on loan last season, hardly a surprise they turned a profit on one of them

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree Golds, I would have loved him at the Arsenal but Jose would never have allowed it.

If Chelsea's transfer policy is so wonderful, can anyone explain them selling Matic as a £4 million makeweight in the David Luis transfer to Benfica, only to buy him back again for £21million 18 months later.
