Hi, followed the rumours on here for a while now. Thought I'd sign up and put in my ten pence.
I'm really excited about the coming season. I was a huge Wenger fan and have huge respect for the man. However, the change was long overdue.
I am praying that Ramsey signs a new contract and is given the captaincy. I really think he and the team can go from strength to strength.

The question from me is. Given the new and potential (realistic) signings, what do you people think will be next seasons strongest starting 11?

Welcome TNC, can't answer the question, it depends on who we sign and who buys into Dicks way of playing.

Maaannn xhaka on the left wing would never work, no chance.

Miki Ramsey Ozil
Lacazette Aubameyang

Ospina Monreal Welbeck Xhaka Chambers
On the bench.

We could play this attack minded team at home.
Swap in Xhaka for Lacazette to play deep with Torreira for away games or when we need to set up more defensively.

JW - When I select Xhaka on the left of a three man midfield it clearly isn't as a left winger. It is as a 'false' number 10, a link between defence and attack.

Thr next chapter. I like that team. and your notion of bring xhaka in for laca to go 4231 when playing a top side esp away. With bbc saying that's it for main players it could happen.

Not sure if any of you guys visit the Arsenal website but good to see the majority of the team back in training.

They're now putting up videos instead of just pics. Unai is getting right in amongst it.

Good to see Rene-Adelaide and Perez back, Reiss Nelson also in the first team squad.

Already a change from previous seasons.

Its all new and exciting for the coming season. Everyone can make an impression if they really want too.

{Ed001's Note - particularly Darren Farley, he can make a good impression.}

I think all our hopes are based on Dick changing so many things that have been so wrong for years, tackling in training has to be the first thing he reintroduces.
So many explayers blamed that on out softness and lack of competitive edge in games, Arsene was so worried about players getting injured in training he wouldn't let them tackle but this lead to our players getting injured more in games as they couldn't handle or ride a tackles for real that they weren't properly prepared for plus if training is all cosy then surely that transfers onto the pitch on match days.

Not to forecast doom, but I’m worried that, when we play Liverpool and our lads hear Klopp shouting from the sidelines, won’t confusion set in?

I'm confused already, why against Liverpool and Klopp?

With little over a month to go, it will be interesting to see who else we sign, as Gazidis has stated that there will be more signings.
It appears that Torreira is on his way after the Wolrd Cup.
The positions that seem to be targets to improve are:
CB; Possibly Mustafi out and a replacement signed.
LB: Reports that Montreal may be sold and a replacement signed.
Wide attacking player: to be signed.
Creative midfield player to be signed.
Thoughts?

Torreira looks a good young player in an area we need depth for sure.

Considering we have already brought in 3 players, are likely to confirm a fourth and have room for two more in the squad list (assuming a GK and Lucas Perez are moved on) , I would be surprised if we looked to turnover players in areas where they can do a job for us. If Mustafi really wants to leave perhaps he'll go, but he is experienced in the Prem, and replacing him at a loss with a relatively unproven 22-year old in Soyuncu would be a risk (he certainly looks to have potential, but has a mistake in him at his age) .

The Monreal rumours seem nuts, he proved last season he is fit enough and we have Kolasinac also to rotate. Moving him on for age concerns would be a little hypocritical considering Lichtsteiner as depth/ rotation on the other side is two years his senior.

We could do with depth in central midfield (beyond Torreira) and a young attacking player with potential. Still surprised Jack has been allowed to leave without a sensible replacement lined up (not least given the home grown quotas) .

Mustafi premier league experience has been almost all poor so neither he or we have anything to loose by moving on from each other.
Gabriel was far better than Mustafi for us in my opinion.

Agree 62 regarding Gabriel, thought he was useful and a lot of games I saw he was always covering for Mert or Chambers . If Mustafi is not moved on I am hoping the new atmosphere motivates him and he plays like a 35mill player, he definitely fell out with Wenger over something COYG.

Mustaffi has the tools but i'm not sure he has it between the ears.

In parts of games Mustafi has looked awesome making fantastic tackles but in the vast majority he has looked deviod of awareness and most notably personal responsibility preferring to blame officials and team mates for his mistakes.
Can you train that out of him? I'm not sure.

When Mustafi first arrived didn’t we go something like 17 games unbeaten? He and Kos were solid for the first half of that season. He certainly has it in him to be one of our starting CBs, Emery will get the best out of him.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Jul 2018 13:31:10
He had a 22-game unbeaten streak upon arrival. (To be fair to him his unbeaten ratio is still over 70% of games played in the prem, which is none too shabby) . Certainly has the talent in him to be a great defender.

The Premier League never ceases to amaze me, as they now apparently regret voting for an early closing of the transfer window on 9th August in a World Cup year, leaving only 24 days to get signing done, post World Cup. Knowing this leaves overseas clubs with the upperhand in negotiations for sales and they can still buy PL players until their windows close
In addition, despite teething problems, VAR is essential and yet again it was voted against.
