apparently if we consider Telegraph as a reliable source, which i don't think it is, we have enquired over pedro.
It would make sense though, since barca want to sign arda turn and podolski is all set to leave. Suits for all the parties i guess!.
Hey Ed, you have anything to say about this?
Cheers, and thanks!

Shrikant

{Ed001's Note - Pedro has long had interest from Arsenal, he was at the root of the Sanchez deal, as you were originally asking about Pedro and were more than happy to forget him and take Sanchez, for obvious reasons, instead. I don't know of any recent move for him, but I doubt he will go anywhere before January due to Barca's transfer ban. Interesting that Turan hates running so much at Atletico that he is happy to sit on his backside for 6 months! Especially as Barca players tend to run more distance than most, he might be in for a shock there after the rest.}

1.) 04 Jul 2015 10:48:39
come on 001, i know you know that the amount of work put in over a week is the same whether you play on the saturday or not

{Ed001's Note - not sure what that has to do with anything?}

2.) 04 Jul 2015 22:49:41
you said about turan 'he might be in for a shock after the rest' and i'm saying it's not like he will actually be resting if he goes to barca for the first six months before he can play

03 Jul 2015 17:39:25
Hello gooners, just made my account on this site. I'm pretty excited for this summer especially after the Cech arrival!.
Hi Ed, just read that santi cazorla is a target for atletico madrid since arda turan wants to leave.
Also read that a swap deal may take place as we also need a replacement. what are your thoughts?
Thanks.

Shrikant

{Ed001's Note - I don't know anything about a swap deal, Turan's agent is offering him around and last summer Cazorla wanted to return to Spain. I think it must be someone just adding two and two together as I can find out nothing regarding a swap deal.}

1.) 04 Jul 2015 08:17:55
I do Believe Cazorla will leave though a year left Wenger won't let a player of his quality leave for nothing

Just 2 weeks left lads.
I seriously reckon wenger must go. I mean common, we clearly don't have the required depth in DM and striker positions.
Why isn't he even trying to put a bid in?
Kondogbia
Krychowiak
Schneiderlin
Vidal
They all would've got into our team BUT NO, Mr wenger thinks they are not good enough to play for our team and would rather keep flamini and arteta.
Personally we should've got gustavo in 2013.
We had agreed a deal with bayern for 14 million, Wolfsburg came, offered 19 and BOOm they had a deal.
Why can't he sign the players he wants quickly?!.
It isn't his money.
Had we offered 55 million for Suarez in 2013 instead of buying Ozil and next summer bought back fabregas instead of Sanchez we could've won Atleast one title in the past two years!.
Imagine Suarez in 2013
Fabregas in 2014
I'm still happy with Ozil and Sanchez but I think Suarez and fabregas would've taken us to the next level.

Shrikant

1.) 16 Aug 2015 10:20:48
Welcome to 2015 Shri, mate we all know we've missed soooo many chances to put wrongs right over the years and weaknesses have gone unaddressed season after season but right now we are at our strongest for a very long time.
Not you me or anyone else knows if Theo down the middle works given an extended run there, we all have opinions on it but until its tried and failed or succeeded NOBODY KNOWS.
We have not ignored repeated failings this season and we have signed a very top keeper for the first time in over a decade so just give the team a chance and then if your right and we are 4th place champions again feel free to remind us all of your fantastic knowledge but until then its all just opinions yours mine and everyone else's.
I would welcome additions but am not unhappy as we are and should we fail to mount a real proper challenge this season will put my hands up and say I was wrong, but until then Com'on the Arsenal.

2.) 16 Aug 2015 10:46:05
Ridiculous to suggest that we should have bought fabregas over Sanchez . Please don't ever say that out aloud again. Suarez and Sanchez yes. We would still have had cazorla and Ramsey

3.) 16 Aug 2015 12:03:33
Arsenal have probably the most racially diverse fan base in the world which is something we're all quite rightly very proud of and is an excellent reason we should never sign Sanchez.

4.) 16 Aug 2015 12:35:21
I was referring to a midfielder and a striker Bowngun.
Ozil fabregas
Sanchez Suarez
I would've picked Suarez and fabregas any day!.

5.) 16 Aug 2015 15:47:29
Sanchez isn't a striker. If he was we wouldn't be in the dilemma we are in and could have a whole host of wingers we could then sign with strikers been thin on the ground.

6.) 16 Aug 2015 15:48:55
All the big European clubs have a diverse fan club. Don't really understand what that has to do with the price of bacon

15 Aug 2015 08:07:35
As much I'd love wenger to stick around, he need to go if he doesn't sign Atleast one more quality signing this summer.
We clearly need new blood. Welbeck giroud Walcott won't cut it at the top level if we are serious about winning e champions league.
Chelsea, Man city, Bayern, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, Psg and even atletico Madrid have the managers who are instructed to Atleast reach the semi finals of the champions league or else they call their season as a failure.
And here we are, who can't even mount a serious title challenge in our domestic competition, let alone Europe.
I know it's been difficult in the past 10 years, but now even the chairman says we have money to burn, I'm not saying spend all of it, Atleast sign one more Quality player?!
The teams who dominate in the Domestic competitions are the ones who go far in Europe, as simple as that.
Can we win Champions league with Giroud and Welbeck?!
No!
Can we win the league?!
We can mount a challenge until March but we won't win.
That's the difference folks.

Shrikant

{Ed025's Note - the thing about arsene is that he wont buy just for the sake of it shrikant, it has to be a player who will improve the squad and i applaud him for that mate..

1.) 15 Aug 2015 08:31:20
Steve, you have competition in the perpetual moaning stakes 😉

{Ed025's Note - steve is still top of that league dags.. :)

2.) 15 Aug 2015 09:34:02
At least let things actually go wrong before you start this seasons Wenger out campaign, your entitled to your opinion and its been duely noted and IF we don't make a very serious challenge this season then I think you have every right to say I told you so and call for a manager who can make us contenders.
So IF we go to Chelsea in a few weeks time and get well beaten again and are well off the pace set by the team at the top by 5pts or more feel free to start your campaign but until that time just stop and consider just for one moment what if its actually you who's got it wrong?
Let the story unfold by a few more pages before throwing the book in the bin.

3.) 15 Aug 2015 10:14:18
Ed,

Steve is like the 70's Brazilian team....untouchable mate :-)

{Ed001's Note - you've never been on a night out with Ed025. Just don't mention the war for heaven's sake!!}

4.) 15 Aug 2015 10:19:31
You have your opinion mate but jeez do you like to moan and have no positives about this season or the squad. As Wenger just said in his recent press conference that it's not like a supermarket were you go I'll buy this , that . Transfers are far more complicated and negotiations can get tough.

5.) 15 Aug 2015 10:20:39
Gunner62 mate,
The summary of the bookis very embarrassing. No point in wasting your time reading a book which you've read 5-6 times already mate!.
All it says is we'll try to challenge and fall apart and at most reach the quarterfinals in champions league.
Seriously, I do support wenger, but ask yourself,
Will we win the prem league with giroud?
We Atleast need another striker to compliment him if not replace him.

6.) 15 Aug 2015 10:52:19
More and more of my apprentices are coming on and telling it is how it is.

7.) 15 Aug 2015 10:55:38
Gunner this is just the yearly ritual we go through at arsenal, rollercoaster of arsenal, up then down, then down and up, eventually ending just at the the top teetering.

8.) 15 Aug 2015 12:29:32
I see the Sith Lord Steve has found a new apprentice. The moan is strong in this one.....

9.) 15 Aug 2015 12:38:35
Le Coq Gabriel Cech? The 2015 edition is much better than the 2014 version and who knows might just be worth reading at least a couple of pages before condemning it to your charity shop clear out box.
Who knows you might even get gripped by it?
If the worst comes to the worst and we do win the league by a point don't get to down you can always moan about how we should have won it by a bigger margin :-)

10.) 15 Aug 2015 13:00:17
I agree with Steve,
The same Old story will repeat this year again.
I would like wenger to quit if he doesn't sign anyone before September 1.
If transfer negotiations are that difficult then how come other clubs are signing quality players?
Now we don't even have that money excuse!!.
It's all bullshit gooners, it's now or never for us.
This is the year we must really kick on.

11.) 15 Aug 2015 13:25:22
You recon we will fall away as late as March. He's nothing like Steve that's pure optimism

12.) 15 Aug 2015 13:57:15
It's a sobering thought that it might be never. Might as well start supporting spuds

13.) 15 Aug 2015 14:49:46
Steve got me with the apprentice comment. Proper lol. He's the football Isis. Stevis

14.) 15 Aug 2015 15:20:10
We are so much better than last year already, aside from Czech & Coq & Gabriel we have matured with Bellerin, Ox, Monreal, Chambers all high on a steep learning curve and the Germans well-rested. We have more the enough talent although would always take more but that won't be our issue. Every week we have anywhere between 11 and 7 or 8 better players per position on the pitch, should be able to win with that.
Lets start by leaving Cazorla and Coq in the middle and rotating Oz/Ramsey and Ox for stability.

Still this board could get interesting if we draw palace.

15.) 15 Aug 2015 15:55:50
Totally agree Cangun and a draw at Palace wouldn't be the worst result in the world early doors, if we ain't up to speed and totally firing by the time we play Chelsea I will be very worried but I'm pretty sure it won't come to that.

16.) 15 Aug 2015 16:25:38
You're all over confident gooners. I'm telling ya!.
We won't win the league with this squad.
As simple as that. But things can change before September 1.

17.) 15 Aug 2015 17:39:02
A draw at palace gunner normally i would agree, brill. Not after our start though, losing 5 points in the first two games signals usual non challenging season. A win is essential, no critical.

18.) 15 Aug 2015 17:54:52
This is such a tired debate, it's one bloody game into the season

19.) 15 Aug 2015 18:04:27
Not over confident fella - we are supporters of AFC full stop no apologies needed for backing our squad or our manager!

20.) 15 Aug 2015 19:14:45
I'm with you shrikant 100 percent. Wenger won't lift the title again iv said it for years.

I'm a Steve backer on here love that guys moaning. Keeps me reading

21.) 15 Aug 2015 19:20:25
Ive got to say far to early to be jumping the gun in wenger i agree we are 1 or 2 players light at the minute a a striker and a cdm for me ide bid for berahino and i think we missed a trick in not signing shneiderlin and wijnaldum don't get me wrong in wide positions we probably have the best 4 in the epl ozil sanchez the ox and theo but i don't think anyone thought this year of the same thing that's hampered us for years INJURYS wilshere is like a time bomb as is theo what if giroud is ever out for 3 months and wellbeck we would be buggered

22.) 15 Aug 2015 19:56:38
3pts would be ideal Steve but it would be naive to throw caution to the wind and turn this game into a must win match, very Monacolistic :-) its a marathon and a slow start isn't ideal but unlike 100 metres race its not totally vital.
By the end of the Chelsea game on the 19th we will have a real idea of where our season might be going, Steve you have to admit if we win at Chelsea even you would smile even if you had to put a cushion over you face to do it mate :-)

23.) 15 Aug 2015 21:08:19
Gunner i love you, in a man kind of way, but you saying are things that are not real, us win at chelski, more chance of santos coming back and being a superstar. We are not going to make up a large amount of points on the likes of sheik city chelski and man u, never, more chance of bentner coming back and being our main striker. Now if id said them two things you have had me sectioned.

24.) 15 Aug 2015 21:10:22
Plus if we win at chelski, i will never moan again and neither of them are going to happen. So i'm safe.

{Ed025's Note - you never moan again steve?...now that would be a thing to behold mate.. :)

14 Aug 2015 06:28:09
Ffs Wenger, go and sign Atleast one more quality player either a DM or a striker.
Atleast we'll have something to fight with other teams.
Common it's not that difficult it is?
We can sign de Bruyne if wenger wants to play Walcott as striker.
Theo
Sanchez Ozil de Bruyne
Or draxler or even gotze can be signed. Just sign a quality player, team will get adjusted. Just like when we had Cazorla we signed Ozil. And now Cazorla is a proper qualify CM not a CAM he used to be!.
People will say it will hamper the progress of Ox, but then again, if we sign a striker, then more often than not theo will play on the right, and rotate with him.
We can rotate Ox with the new signing then.
Man, just sign one quality player, everyone will get a lift.
Is it tooo difficult?

Shrikant

1.) 14 Aug 2015 06:41:02
I believe we will sign one, possibly two more players. The negotiations for quality players are difficult and often go down to the wire. We have been working hard on shipping players out and are down to the final two: Flamini & Campbell.
The two mistakes, in my opinion have been to keep Arteta & Rosicky.
I would like to see us sign a quality defensive midfield player and a world class striker.
I would break the bank for Pogba & Lewandowski. I am not at all sure Benzema, who I have heard will join, would be a success in the Premier League. Lewandowsi at 26 years of age would be a far better option, even if he costs slightly more, assuming we could get Bayern to sell. The same goes for Pogba.

2.) 14 Aug 2015 07:38:05
Robbie you're living in fantasy land if you think Pogba would choose us over madrid and barca.

3.) 14 Aug 2015 10:41:54
Lemon Tree, these are my fantasy signings as I can't see us signing either player, unless we are prepared to break the bank with massive offers and huge contracts, which I don't believe we will do whilst Wenger is at the helm. That isn't a criticism of Wenger, as he has been and still is an excellent manager, it's just not his style.
We simply need more world class players in the team and they don't come cheap.
I know we are only one match into the season, but the same worrying trends are already there. The opening day defeat to West Ham was shocking. The injury situtaion, after only one match, typical, as is the lack of early window signings, We all know that we need a quality defensive midfield player and a top notch striker. We are still carrying the following players; Arteta, Flamini, Rosicky & Campbell. I can only see Flamini & Campbell going.
Lets get behind the team on Sunday and beat Palace.

12 Aug 2015 11:18:38
Ooh man, look at all the other teams!!!
City are signing De Bruyne
Man utd will sign Pedro
Liverpool signed quality players in Firmio and benteke
Chelsea already have a good squad and they just had a bid rejected for Koke, i mean mourinho is not a fool. He's trying to sign a good left back in baba rahman.
He'll probably sign a star, in midfield.
Why isn't arsene even trying man. It's not his money, why not put in a bid for krychowiak or bender.
Offer them 22-24 million and BOoM we have a deal.
Same goes for a striker.
We won't win anything like this and this will be another season of top 4 battle with Tottenham and Liverpool.
I'm pissed off man!

Shrikant

1.) 12 Aug 2015 11:43:31
You seem more interested in players Arsenal don't have then the ones they have. Be patient , Arsene always has a late deal come through.

2.) 12 Aug 2015 13:26:30
Look, if come deadline day, Cech is our only signing and Arsene's sat at home by the fire, clipping the coupons out of his paper, I'll join you in being disappointed in our lack of activity.

But until then, just enjoy the ride!
The bumpy, stressful, slightly exciting ride.

As Bergooner says, you're getting more involved in other players signings than you are our dealings mate.

Yes, Liverpool have signed a lot of players, but, on the other hand, Liverpool have signed a lot of players!
It takes time for them to gel, yes, they may fit in quickly, but there will be time for them to work as a team.
They've lost the 3 jewels in their crown so to speak, in the past 2 windows.
I think Firmino is a good signing, as is Milner.
Benteke is a monster on his day.

Will those 3 start for us?
No.

Chelsea may sign Rahman, who again, looks promising and he has time on his side (I don't follow Bundesliga as much as Serie A and the Prem, so someone correct me if I'm wrong there please!) but he's not going to start for them, he's also making a step up to a bigger club and that's never easy.

As for Koke, unless Chelsea make a serious money off, he won't leave Atleti just yet.
And if he does, who's he going to replace in their line up?
Fabregas? Matic?
Nope.

De Bruyne's had a cracking season, but he's going to cost in the region of £45m and he's a luxury player for city.
He's not going to start ahead of silva and sterling will play after costing as much as he did, so De Bruyne will either play wide right or be rotated.

Utd made some decent signings, but apart from Schneiderlin, I wouldn't really be ecstatic for us to sign any of them.
As for Pedro, I personally find him overrated.
Alexis is better and I'm willing to bet you money that AoC will eclipse him as a player, once he can maintain his fitness.

As for us, I wouldn't mind Krych...Krys....Kryz,...the Sevilla lad, but If the quoted prices of £25m are close to true, that's a lot of money for a middle aged (he's 25 right? So middle age for a players career...ish) player.

Ed002 has already stated their belief that we may wait for Carvalho, which, if true, I'm happy with.

As for a striker, I'm still confident we'll get Benzema IF he wants to leave.

I don't think Madrid want to keep or sell him, either way.
But if a solid offer came in and he asked to leave, we'll get him.
Get back to me after deadline day and I'll humbly apologise if we don't bring anyone else in!

3.) 12 Aug 2015 20:25:33
Song for shrikant " the other man's grass is always greener " :-)

4.) 12 Aug 2015 20:49:10
No fellas,
I'm not interested in what other teams are doing, but I am interested in what Arsene's doing and he's doing absolutely nothing.
Not aware of any bid going in.
We'll not win the title like this will we?
Ask yourselves gooners!.
You all know we're one striker and probably a DM short of it.

5.) 13 Aug 2015 03:46:28
Yes we do need a world class goal scorer and a cover dm but it isn't as simple as going oh I want that player so sign him there's much more to it and we all know arsene doesn't just hand over a ton of cash for a player he will set his price and negotiate . Still time for transfers , I wouldn't panic.

09 Aug 2015 15:42:56
What was I saying all summer??!
As soon as we take coquelin off, BANG WE CONCEDE THE SECOD GOAL.
We have no cover for DM position.
We have no cover for striker position.
Theo wanted to play there, he was drifting and drifting, but he was TOO WEAK!!
We should've done our business, bought a DM and a striker.
It would've done a world of good, if we had Benzema on the bench to bring on when we were 2-0 down!
Sanchez looked so tired, man give this guy a rest!!.
He can't win us the league by himself.
Even hazard needed costa to score 20 goals along with Willian Oscar remy and all other players!.
We won't win the league with this squad, simple!
Things can change before September 1. But for now NO!

Shrikant

1.) 09 Aug 2015 15:50:15
They scored the second whilst le coq was still on the pitch mate. Granted when he came off we were worse

2.) 09 Aug 2015 15:50:54
Coquelin was on when we conceded the second one
His awkward sliding tackle was one of the reasons Zarate ended up having the ball

3.) 09 Aug 2015 15:56:12
He was. On his backside when they scored the second

4.) 09 Aug 2015 16:45:19
When the 2nd went in Le Coq is on his feet 100% in position between Mertesacker and Kos after recovering from a less than great attempted tackle, it was our best player in the game Ox who lost the ball for the second goal, Ox did least wrong today of all our players and Le Coq wasn't that far behind him.
Petr Cech is a top class keeper who had a very bad day and the Ox is an already fantastic player who will get better and better still who had a good day but the truth is both cost us a goal apiece today, it happens

5.) 09 Aug 2015 17:57:56
To be fair, both their goals were HUGE keeper errors.

That was last season mate Banbury gooner mate,
I agree with Steve,
We can compete for the title which we've been more or less doing since the Ozil singing in 2013, but we can't win the league.
This season all other teams have improved drastically and Man city look like they wil bounce back again after being runners up.
We need a world class striker to COMPETE in Europe and WIN the premier league.
With giroud we'll just TAKE PART in Europe and COMPETE in premier league.
That's the difference!.
