The rock bed of any successful team is the centre half pairing and defensive mid working together not letting the opposition have a sniff. we had it with adams keown/ bould with petit, silva with toure and campbell. utd with bruce pallister and keane even leicester with morgan huth and kante. in each team they were the key to their success. playing regularly and not conceding goals doing the donkey work for the others. now at arsenal we have numerous players that can come close but they have to be regulars to achieve this. i would personally have kosci mustafi and xhaka in those roles let them build up an understanding and slot the ozils sanchez's around them.

Wenger has frozen again on big stage with crazy decisions. this game is crying out for xhaka and giroud. take of santi and iwobi.

No he hasn't. Game is played over ninety minutes and arsenal usually score in second half.
In my opinion Cavani is a donkey and would not cut it in premier league.

I am not a fan of Giroud. Today he yet again justified my feeling. He is pedestrian. And the red card, that was just silly.

It was a strange line up. Was convinced he was resting Xhaka for this game so begs the question why he was not played considering coq only played 3 days prior. Not complaining, happy with draw, we could have taken the three points as well.

Phyxious from what I saw tonight I would have cavani like a shot, the guy is a beast and ran us absolutely ragged. Its a good job for us he was rusty in his finishing.

If we had started with giroud and xhaka we would have won it easily their defence was penetrated easily as soon as the subs came on and the chances started coming and sanchez and the rest seemed to wake up. three points would have been better than one. wengers choice was strange. needs to be more positive. psg would have had a lift as soon as they saw the teamsheet.

Steve, Giroud has games like that but is blasted for missing chances. I suppose the point is, do we give him enough credit when he gets into positions to score. That is the argument about Cavani right? Just think we have an approach that the grass is greener on the other side. I think Giroud and Cavani are comparable and would value at a similar level. The way we play is driven by a focal point up front (which baffles me why Giroud didn't start - relying on counter attack I suppose)

Phyxious when has giroud ever had a game like that, he can't play like that he's too immobile and slow. Missing chances is not girouds only problem, look at todays top strikers, they aren't just big lumps who stand there flicking balls on they actually take defenders on, messi, aubamayang, aguero, costa, ibra, suarez, levandoski, they all have skill and pace to frighten people and cavani certainly frightened us. Cavani could have had five or six on another night, that can never be said about giroud.

In regards to our central defence i think Virgil Van dijk from the saints would be a perfect fit. Saints are in limbo with koeman gone. so arsene should pounce and sign a proven premiership defender who is good with his feet as he is with his head and has a knack of scoring. Him and koscienly would be a strong pairing along with xhaka will give us some height and power. Plus he isn't at the euros so he will not have his price exaggerated.
Upfront is our achilles. giroud will have 2 or 3 good games then go awol for 10.i would keep walcott as back up to a new striker and use walcott wide right predominately. if walcott can get fit and stay fit with a good run in the team he will bang in the goals. He is out of the england picture and has something to prove. Regards a new striker i think vardy will stay at leicester. morata with his goals last night will be priced out for wenger. I would go for the dutch fella Jansen or a cheeky offer for sturridge who will want champions league footie. We are a centre half and striker short from winning major honours.

Hayden won't make it here, he's struggling at hull, akpom has a decent game every other 5 games.
Cazorla I wouldn't sell him and coq, have been excellent as the two midfield men.

If giroud and xhaka had started we would have taken the 3 points. it baffles me that wenger plays the wrong players against a team that was for the taking. giroud would have ruffled the defence and opened the space for ozil and sanchez (who was non existant until he moved to the left) and xhaka would have gave us more reassuarance at the back and kept the ball better than coq. Wenger will probably play giroud against a slow defence when the game is begging for pace upfront. he needs to react to the game faster rather than scraping it. we got lucky.
