I'm not trying to put a downer on things but after 17 games:

2018/19 - 34 points
2017/18 - 30 ponts
2016/17 - 34 points
2015/16 - 37 points

We're there or therabouts where we've been for the previous 4 seasons. No better and no worse really.

1.) 21 Dec 2018 04:23:06
At least we are on an upward trend from last year.

2.) 21 Dec 2018 09:30:16
I'm not sure that's how trends work Steve 😂

At this point, I'm not saying change wasn't needed. I'm not denying the fact that some players appear to be putting in a slightly harder shift. I'm simply saying that the change in manager hasn't yet changed our points tally, which is what matters at the end of a season.

3.) 21 Dec 2018 09:50:49
We have stopped the downward trend that's for sure
37
34
30
What would it be this season without change 28?

This is the toughest premier league top 4 battle I can ever remember, long gone are the days where United Chelsea Arsenal were sinply formalities and the only question was who would join them.
Our problem was we became subconsciously top 4 content and happy as we were which allowed others to catch then overtake and leave us behind.

4.) 21 Dec 2018 16:54:49
i don't think as fans we were subconsiouly content with top 4, medeocraty has been drummed in to us! its only the last couple years where we would really appreciate a top 4 finish as an achievement. Before that we always thought we had a chance of winning at the start of the season. it was only a few seasons ago we were having debates about whether we could win the league with giroud as our main striker, not just make top 4, top 4 was a given and since we've had sanchez and now lacca and auba all much better strikers in a goal scoring sence, but ironically our teams and points gained have declined.

5.) 21 Dec 2018 18:09:08
Eden, we are scoring as many as Liverpool but letting in as many as the teams in the relegation zone. Tells you where we are struggling.

6.) 21 Dec 2018 18:35:58
Scrapping the bottom of the barrel there g62 by referring to that as a "trend". The reality is we're a couple of games better AND worse off than we have been in the previous 3 seasons.

I concede that we need 2 or 3 seasons to evaluate how much better off we are under current management. I'm not rushing to judgement either way, because on the face of things, we're exactly where we have been (on average) .

7.) 21 Dec 2018 19:44:24
What is a trend Sharpie?
A pattern on a grath that is either consistently stagnant upward or downward.
It's way to early for Arsenal under Dick to establish any sort of real trend of its own.
But the figure you provided from before Dick arrived unquestionably show a year on year downward trend.
37 34 30 speaks for itself, we were going nowhere at best and backwards at worst
Let's look again in May because then we can make a better comparison between Dicks first full season and Arsenes 20th 21st and 22nd seasons.

8.) 21 Dec 2018 20:09:06
You've answered your own question mate: "It's way to early for Arsenal under Dick to establish any sort of real trend of its own. " So while I am fully aware of what a trend is, I wouldn't be calling that a trend.

I wasn't the one that brought trend into the conversation. I am simply stating that we are no better or no worse off than we have been in the previous 3 seasons.

I see people on this site, prior to our last 2 defeats, lauding Emery for bringing the best out of the players. After the aforementioned two defeats it's all, "it's because he's having to play Wenger's dregs". I'm just adding a little perspective.

9.) 21 Dec 2018 21:01:00
And it's very fair prospective too mate but it's almost impossible to compare 4 months work next to 22 years fairly, I've always said in 3 years we will all know own if Dick is capable of getting us back to where we would like to be.
It's only his fantastically positive start that has sent pulses racing and excitement levels through the roof again.

10.) 22 Dec 2018 17:30:53
Well he isn't working with George Grahams dreggs. He has been in the job 4 month and you can't compare it to someone who had built his team for years and couldn't in the end muster a performance against top four teams, arguably Dick is doing that after 4 months, with wengers dreggs.

11.) 23 Dec 2018 04:27:21
Steve, be pedantic if you must mate, but don't expect any rational person to buy the drivel you're selling.

When it suits, "Emery is getting the best out of the players. He's amazing""

Lose a couple of games and it's back to, "Oh, it's because he's playing with Wenger's dregs. "

Maybe it's just me, but I find this highly hypocritical and disrespectful of a manager that served our club for over two decades. At some point even you have to stop blaming him for the performances of this team.

12.) 23 Dec 2018 14:55:37
Some sing we've got our Arsenal back
While others feel their Arsenal stopped existing last May.

We have always been Arsenal football club but for a while there we seemed to morth into Arsene football club and there were quite a lot of people who liked it that way and are now struggling to identify with an Arsenal that doesn't involve Arsene as their club anymore.
just as some people lost all interest in Arsenal and football completely because of Arsene remaining in charge some have and will drift away because he's no longer on charge.
Some wounds take time to fully heal and although the Arsene in out war is over its going to take time for grudges to be forgotten both ways.

13.) 23 Dec 2018 17:08:12
Sharpe, i'm not hypocritical or disrespectful, i say it as i see it. Dick is working with and trying too correct the obvious wrongs that every man and his dog could see was wrong with the players and the way we played under wenger, that's pretty much fact. Until we get rid of the wenger lagacy we won't see the full Unai Emery team. It still has wenger influences in it good and bad.

14.) 23 Dec 2018 18:15:11
Also Sharpe, i'm not sure i'm selling anything, just having an opinion. Some may disagree with me and that's fine. No that's life.

This doesn't look good for our Benz push. Not entirely sure who This Jeinny lass is except what it says on her twitter profile:

https://twitter.com/Jeinnylizarazo

{Ed001's Note - was there something other than pictures to see there???? Damn was I meant to read something?}

1.) 11 Aug 2015 12:22:23
I just can't see it happening. Benzema is at Real Madrid who have a high chance of La Liga title and no doubt minimum of a semi final in the Champions League. He also has his France spot to hold down and playing at Real Madrid he will get his chance even though people chirp up that Rafa will play Bale or Ronaldo as the out and out striker leaving Benzema out, can't see that if Benzema plays and plays well he`ll keep his spot surely? Now if he decides to sign for Arsenal his situation changes he now has to adapt to the EPL and all the pressure to perform instantly to win over the Gooners and to hold down a France strikers spot for Euros2016. Of the two choices staying at Real looks more comfortably but hey what do I know.....money may talk but can anyone see Wenger lumping it on Benzema or another top top striker like Lewandowski, Higuain or Llorente? Arsene pays what he feels the price the player is worth and i'm sorry todays market is still on the rise for quality. Keep the faith Gooners we could still have Lord Bedtner or Sanogo within the squad. COYG

2.) 11 Aug 2015 12:26:06
LOL Ed001 - Okay, I'll admit I spent a bit of the afternoon looking at "pictures" ... but then the wife came home and I was forced to read ....

{Ed001's Note - I never even noticed the writing.}

3.) 11 Aug 2015 12:33:07
Sooo I did not get to the reading part on her Twitter , fantastic photos but...

4.) 11 Aug 2015 14:53:04
I'm in love

5.) 11 Aug 2015 14:34:51
Ed001 ... didn't you JUST get married? tut tut

{Ed001's Note - not yet mate, just got engaged, so it is ok. Well so long as the missus never finds out anyway ;o)

6.) 11 Aug 2015 16:23:12
Ed001, I'm sure Ed002 will tell her. Women tend to stick together when it comes to wandering eyes. Anywho ... never really expected this post to become a Jeinny lovefest. It was honestly posted for the editorial.

Think I'll go have another "read" now ... you know, just in case I missed anything on the first go.

{Ed001's Note - luckily Ed002 is away on holibobs at the moment....}

7.) 11 Aug 2015 17:31:21
They all look like that after 12 pints but a word of warning don't do a sleep over. One way by night and completely and totally unrecognisable way by day.

8.) 11 Aug 2015 23:20:19
i love how twitter works and all these closet ITK;s who come out with their deadline ultimatums and unlimited medicals.

i do use twitter but for the sake of sanity mostly for banter and less for transfer.

but i did see some italian journalist tweet being retweetd.

not a direct quote but something like this.

tweet 1 : benzema to sign on sunday or monday

tweet 2 : benzema in london for medical

tweet 3 : benzema deal agreed ( one week after he was to sign)

tweet 4 : been told that man city and bayern want benzema

tweet 5 : benzema wants arsenal and will have talks with guardiola and wenger

tweet 6 : wenger has spoken to benzema and its up to arsenal to pay

well you get the drift.

what i'm wondering is how does he know soo quickly what wenger and benzema discussed? does wenger tweet secretly?

maybe wengers handle is notarsenewenger? and benzema is notbenzema?

its just a shame to see soo many headless chickens being directed to the slaughter house.

9.) 12 Aug 2015 00:45:08
Ha ha g62 like always say I have never gone to bed with an ugly woman but Jesus I have woken up with a fair few.

Down season 2019 needs a jokeathon. Hopefully it'll get Ed025 posting a wee bit.

I'll go first and everyone can just add a joke. Or however is easiest, I guess

I've just bought a new mouse mat.

That should stop the little feckers leaving footprints all over the kitchen!

1.) 19 Jun 2019 02:54:25
Shkodran Mustafi is a good defender.

2.) 19 Jun 2019 07:48:45
Emery is the best man for the job.

3.) 19 Jun 2019 08:42:51
What did the drummer call his two daughters?

Anna-one Anna-two.

4.) 19 Jun 2019 10:08:29
Like it Aki:-)

5.) 19 Jun 2019 16:00:04
What's the difference between a Scotsman and a coconut

You can get a drink out of a coconut.

6.) 19 Jun 2019 17:08:55
What's the difference between a politician and a flying pig?

The F.

7.) 19 Jun 2019 17:32:09
Paddy came home from work and caught him son doing cocaine

He said . if I catch you doing it again I'll rub your f###ing nose in it.

8.) 19 Jun 2019 19:27:39
Malaga, we're not asking for real life stories mate; this is a joke thread.

9.) 19 Jun 2019 20:46:20
I asked my wife if I was the only one she had been with. She said of course, the others were at least sevens or eights.

{Ed047's Note - 😂

17 Jun 2019 11:53:38
Ed001, any chance you can create a recurring thumbs down button for me? So if a specific chap posts something, his post automatically gets a thumbs down? Thank you.

{Ed001's Note - is this your way of telling me you don't like my posts? :-o

1.) 17 Jun 2019 13:05:22
1.2.3.4. I declare a thumb war! draaaamaaaa, who you got beef with sharpie?

2.) 17 Jun 2019 13:55:22
Ed001, at the risk of sounding like a brown noser, I actually quite like your posts and read your reviews quite diligently. There's no prizes for guessing whose posts I'd like to auto thumb down. It's getting boring doing it manually 🙂

Eden mate, no beef. Just bored of reading the same drivel from the same individual several times a week.

{Ed001's Note - I just can't imagine who it could be!}

3.) 17 Jun 2019 14:36:13
I think people who moan about thumbs are laughable, this isn’t a play ground were you can till miss EDwards someone doesn’t like your post, stop being a baby.

4.) 17 Jun 2019 14:37:07
Name and shame sharp don’t be scared.

5.) 17 Jun 2019 16:27:33
Who was it who used to lose it when he got thumbed down sharpie? I can’t remember I used to love doing it! My favourite application of the thumbs down was when someone put a post regarding great human kindness or a terrible event. People used to loose it lol.

6.) 17 Jun 2019 16:54:39
Was it not that bloke that died and came back to life? Lanesra? Stoner will remember who it was. Paging Stoner.

7.) 17 Jun 2019 17:20:30
It was Steve who used to cry about thumbs down then asked for his thumbs to be removed because he didn’t like anyone else having an opinion that disagreed with his.

8.) 17 Jun 2019 17:55:56
One up the thumb no harm done is my motto.

9.) 17 Jun 2019 18:31:13
Yep pretty sure it was Lanesra Sharpie and the other guy you’re talking about loves thumbing himself constantly, up the Arsenal. 😂😂.

10.) 17 Jun 2019 18:55:38
Thumb and thumber it is then :-)

11.) 17 Jun 2019 15:21:08
Welsh, the only person on here that I'm scared of is Ed025, and that's only because he's threatened to send me pics of himself in his speedos.

Where has Ed025 disappeared to anyway? Haven't seen him post in a long while.

{Ed025's Note - i have not been doing a lot of editing lately sharpey due to some health and personal issues mate, but i will get that picture of this lithe supple heap of manhood in speedo,s to you asap...great to hear from you mate..

12.) 17 Jun 2019 22:15:42
Sorry to hear about the health and personal issues, Ex025. Hope you're squared away on all fronts soon, mate.

You should pop into chat in the new season; we kinda miss you, plus, we keep you young.

Stoner, you got to admit, life in chat hasn't been the same since he died, AGAIN!

{Ed025's Note - cheers sharpey im getting there mate and hope to do a lot more arsenal next season mate..

13.) 17 Jun 2019 22:21:37
All the best Ed025 mate hope everything picks up for you really soon mate.

{Ed025's Note - thanks G62..

14.) 18 Jun 2019 00:32:20
Best wishes and a big hug Ed25, you beautiful man! I miss you too!

{Ed025's Note - nice one eden, like arnie...i will be back mate..

15.) 18 Jun 2019 12:37:22
Agree with all the previous Ed025, wishing you all the very best and look forward to seeing you back on board soon.

{Ed025's Note - cheers epping, normal service will be resumed shortly and i might even do another jokeathon mate.. :)

16.) 18 Jun 2019 20:18:33
Ed025 mate another jokeathon would be a very very welcome thing indeed :-)
That was one legendary weekend mate :-)

{Ed025's Note - it was G62, great fun for all of us mate, takes away the boredom of the closed season and the trepidation of the one to come...if we cant win anything at least we can have a giggle.. :)

17.) 18 Jun 2019 22:31:07
Sorry to hear ed0025 mate, hope all will get good again too soon mate. All the best.

{Ed025's Note - thanks moe..

18.) 18 Jun 2019 22:50:37
Top man Ed025 mate, I think A good chill out and some laughter would do us all the world of good.
As Dudley Moore said in Arthur " fun is definitely the best thing to have " :-)

{Ed025's Note - your spot on mate..

05 Jun 2019 14:10:25
Ed01, why are all your review posts doubling up? You trying to make sure we see them? :)

{Ed001's Note - are they? I will have a word with Ed033 to look into it. We had server problems earlier and a lot of the sites were down, I would assume it is something to do with that.}

1.) 05 Jun 2019 16:20:21
Yes it's been happening with all RG posts for the last 2 years too :-)

Sorry RG only a joke mate :-)

2.) 06 Jun 2019 12:50:08
g62, I wish I had thought of that one! Well done mate and a thumbs up from me!

3.) 06 Jun 2019 20:05:00
Cheers Sharpie, I'm still trying to work out where the thumbs down came from :-) It's a mystery mate :-)

Good news is Villanelle is back this weekend mate, I'm very very excited already :-)

Danny Drinkwater

Not only a name, but sound advice.

1.) 10 Apr 2019 09:36:15
I’m liking it mate! 😂

I’d totally forgotten he was still at Chelsea, I don’t think he even makes the match day squads.

2.) 10 Apr 2019 14:54:54
Yes, yet another English midfield player disappearing down the blue toilet. Flushed with cash but flushed away. Beware of the toilet of doom that is in the chelski training ground.

3.) 11 Apr 2019 15:11:54
The same as Benteke and Bony Steve. Who both decided that being a big and fairly successful fish in a medium club wasn't enough, so destroyed their career by sitting on the bench at a bigger club. Still they, and no doubt their agent who persuaded them it was a great move, are laughing all the way to the bank. (What a salesman Bonys agent was, in that he convinced Bony that he would get a game at Man City ahead of Sergio Aguero? )

21 Mar 2019 12:47:00
Just saw this video on Mesut Ozil and I thought it was pretty cleverly put together:

1.) 21 Mar 2019 14:47:46
Absolute quality not sure he tried hard enough though! COYG.

2.) 22 Mar 2019 08:50:04
Haha I’m liking it.

Read a few days ago that the 6 games Ozil, Ramsey, Lacazette and Aubameyang have played together we’ve won them all.

Need him to be on it and Emery to make it work.

3.) 24 Mar 2019 21:30:01
Pity he isn’t like it on the pitch every game.

4.) 26 Mar 2019 08:42:29
Is a daisy a weed or a flower Welsh?
It's all about your personal perspective and what you choose to see mate.
Once you've made your choice it's difficult to see the opposite no matter how pleasing to the eye it is.

Ed002, are you saying that my idea to wait for the DOW to stagnate and then inject VC funds from a volatile 401K linked to the Nikkei, which in itself was leveraged from corporate bonds tied to the NASDAQ, is a bad idea? How dare you, sir? How very dare you? And I didn't even go into performance dividends sprung from the FTSE!
