If reinstalling Ramsdale is to much for MA ego to take then what about putting Kai in goal ?

Raya is unpopular with most fans and pundits alike who feel the manager has got it wrong and want Ramsdale back on goal more and more each week, that's not a good place for the already straggling for form Raya to be as a person. He must be longing for his loan to cone to an end so he can get back to Brentford.

I wonder if Ramsdale comes back in and has a stinker that will also be labeled as Arteta getting it wrong?

Raya has clearly made some mistakes these last few weeks, as have Allison and Ederson who are regarded as the 2 best keepers in the league by most but I have not seen too much of an out cry to get them dropped.

the question i would like to pose is

Do we all believe that we are top of the league having only lost 1 game so far in spite of Raya being in goal?

are we honestly giving him zero credit for any contribution, his first few games were really assured I thought and he has made some very good saves that have kept us in games at points.

we all complained about Partey being at right back, as said MA didn't know what he was doing, yet we didn't lose a game (i am not suggesting that it was a great decision, but I don't believe it was the disaster than some would have you believe either.

as for Raya longing to go back to Brentford, he is top of the league and part of a team than until Tuesdays game had conceded the fewest goals in the league (with him in goal would you believe it) and top of a champions League group.

Why on earth would be be longing to go back to Brentford?

Also just to say, I don't mean to be argumentative or come across that way, I love the debates on here and read daily.

I do feel like I get very defensive of the Raya situation as I honestly think it's been so overplayed in the media and made out to be some sort of disaster which I just cannot see. I am not suggesting it is all rosy and it shouldn't be a discussion.

but I do feel like lots of fans our turning unfairly on a player of ours due to outside noise that IMO is just not correct noise.

I'm a bit of the opinion that Ramsdale's sunny personality has a lot to do with his popularity among fans, compared to Raya's seemingly quiet disposition. Shame if that's the case.

I don't hear such chatter about any other position.

Good valid points by Sally and Hampshire.
He had a nightmare against Luton and if he was going to drop him now will be the time, but I don't think Mikel will drop Raya anytime soon.

Great posts Hampshire. For me the two keepers are very close in terms of ability. However, it seems some people have either blind spot or short memory when it comes to Ramsdale and that's not helping Raya. Personally i will support whoever Arteta chooses.

I have always liked ramsdale and he has been a joy to watch. However on the gk front I agree with iceman and the points Sally and hampshire make are valid stop deciding your own club get behind the manager. I would be disappointed if he leaves but bigger players have left and managed OK and today we are sat top of the table. Can't complain come on u gunners!

{Ed014's Note - my opinion is that Ramsdale wasn’t the reason we lost the league last season.

I’m not of the belief we bottled it either but that the injury to Saliba knocked us out of our stride.

So I didn’t really see Raya as a needed addition unless we were going to move Rambo on at the same time.

The situation we have now is two somewhat unsettled keepers, a situation we really don’t need.

Away fans will play on any perceived weakness and they’ve already started with our two.

I absolutely agree with you there ED, i think salibia was a huge miss, and Ramsdale made a few errors but he also won us some points so I definitely don't this he was the reason.

we just got changes down by a more experienced team and a more experienced manager, and who were fantastic last season.

But I believe/ hope the players and the manager will learn from that experience.

I am not convinced Raya was the plan, Brentford was talking of only letting him go for £40 mill prob expecting Chelsea or Tottenham to take him and they went in different directions, and Brentford got a replacement for Raya in early. I think they prob saw it as an opportunity to get in another keeper for only a £3 million loan fee this season.

and your point about away fans is spot on and the media also seem to have a fixation with it.

I’m pretty damn sure everyone here IS behind the manager and team Gunns4ever. people have an opinion regarding a player that’s ON LOAN to us.
Why does that bug you so much?
Raya is no upgrade on Rambo that is just plain obvious. Doesn’t mean in any way we support Arsenal or Mikel any less.

Don’t sit there n tell lifelong supporters of this great club what to do mate just because they have different opinions…it’s just bull? mate.

I’m sure there's no malice Gunns ofcourse but making a comment like “stop deciding your own club n get behind the manager” came across to me as basically saying “your not allowed to question decisions by the manager or club” but for me this site is just what that’s about no? …fans different opinions and debates on players, team sheets, signings n sales makes for an interesting read and conversation.

But I’ll take that recommendation mate ?.

I think Raya is bang average doesn’t feel me with any confidence whatsoever… he hasn’t done anything better what ramsdale can do… he’s cost us goals against Chelsea Newcastle and Luton through bad technique which is your basics.
