Psg have made a similar start to their season as us, seeing that the french league is not as strong as ours, i don't think expecting a win is out of the question. They have lost some players but their squad looks pretty good still though. I think we need to be bang on it from the off in the champs league. i'm going for a 3-0 defeat on tues.
No not really i think we can grab a draw at the very least.

Maybe we can be their Zargreb or Olypiakos:-)

They have serious defensive injuries.

Serge Aurier, Maxwell, Thiago Silva and Layvin Kurzawa are all out.

Sneaky feeling we will win 0-2.

Hopefully we (well Arsene actually;-) have learned from last season and we will go with our best available 11 in every game until we've won the group this time round.

G62,

"Win the group? "

Are you mad, Sir?

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Sep 2016 12:11:06
That's the aim young Mr Dagala Sir, win the CL group and avoid Bayern and Barcelona un co in the last 16 for a change + beat Chelsea home or away but both would be nice of course :-) plus beat Mourinho ;-)
I know these suggestions sound outrageous but I've got a sneaky feeling if we give these things a go we might actually find we enjoy them and that old champions league/ Spursday league nail biter might lose its appeal after all :-)

Comon Steven let your hair down mate, If winning our Champions league group of 3 opponents is beyond us realistically contemplating then it doesn't bode well for any sort of Premier league challenge where we have to over come 19 clubs does it mate.
I say really go for top spot this time round and play your best 11, mind you i think you should always play your best 11 in all games you really want to win.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Sep 2016 14:41:29
Am concerned if Boss doesn't play. Wenger clearly saving Xhka, Giroud and Sanchez. Ozil got his blip out of the way. I think we will have strong perofrmance up front. if Boss plays, I think we will win 2-1. If Thiago silva doesn't play 3-1 :-)

12 Sep 2016 17:58:09
Gunner I've not got any hair to let down mate. When I did I had a noddy holder with sideburns and all. One game at a time, I can't go further than that. Draw and we can win it.

We've strengthened our squad with £90 million worth of additions, a much needed CB and some steel to replace the 3 outgoing midfielders in Arteta, Flamini and Rosicky.

So a big improvement, better options right across the park, loaned out Wilshere to get him fit.

Guardiola has definitely improved an already quality City, Mourinho spending £150 million would find it difficult not to improve United from the pile of shizzle of last season and 3 easy fixtures helped that. Didn't see much difference to the Van Gaal era in punting up long balls to Fellaini and Ibrahimovich to try and get back in a game. Pogba is certainly showing his worth.

Chelsea sign Kante and counter that with David Luiz, Liverpool have no real left back still not solid in defence and are still some what up and down as the Burnley game shows.

Perez and Mustafi have had I think a game and a half between them in pre season as their respective clubs knew they were going, you know the two panic buys we made. 🙄.
The other thing that's struck me as odd was the two players, Kante and Varane saying they turned down Mourinho and the lure of Man United, I was sure it was only Wenger and Arsenal that couldn't attract players.

Still we have been told by the "I say it like it is crowd" we're not winning the league so any banter, especially positive, is mute.

Oh, much as I'm reluctant to talk about a player because then there's the likelihood I'm talking him up to world class proportions but from yesterday;

Laurent Koscielny

100% tackles won
99% pass acc
3 clearances
2 interceptions
1 goal

Still, coat tails it is. 😉.

Between me and you Red, have you got a thing for Steve :-)

Agree4 Disagree0

11 Sep 2016 18:44:01
Red,
I strongly believe we are in with a big shout this season.

City look the balanced, but always start off like a runaway train than run out of steam.

Everybody talks about Utd, but I'm not overly worried about them either.

Chelsea, the same.

I'm not saying people should be scared of us, but we have no reason to be scared of them either.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - other teams are more scared of casper the ghost than arsenal dags..

11 Sep 2016 18:45:59
Yes red great post couldn't agree more, nothing wrong with a positive opinion. let's ban all the rest. 😍.

Agree0 Disagree1

11 Sep 2016 18:56:29
Dags would you say the chelsea game will be a good indicator as to how credible we are? It Obviously will not be decisive what ever the result but if we are going to have a change in outcome to previous seasons we got to start delivering different results to previous seasons and we haven't beaten Chelsea in a long long time.

Agree6 Disagree0

11 Sep 2016 19:01:23
No 62 but there's level headed and then there's Steve! 😉

No Steve I don't want you banned, I love your posts I simply look at them from the other side. 😀

It's your opinion mate and that's all we all give, our opinions.

Agree1 Disagree1

11 Sep 2016 19:03:27
We have a outside chance sure and a lot will depend on injuries obviously. For me for us to have a real shout the key Man that needs to stay in consistent scoring form is Giroud as he is our man central physical striker. Perez I think will do Ok but I still think he is more of a wide striker that drifts around really and will not be as effective as Giroud in the central role in the EPL. It was apparent yesterday that Perez drifted a lot out wide and left us with little threat in the box on crosses until Giroud came on. Perez maybe just wanted to get on the ball as much as possible in his first game but it was maybe to move away from the physical contact of the CB's.

So City are slight Favorites for me but I think we are on a par with Utd and Chelsea with a fully fit squad.

Agree2 Disagree1

11 Sep 2016 19:18:52
No red you don't like opinion if its different than yours. Me I have no problem with people with an over positive nature but to knock and make snide remarks shows you do have a problem. Please disagree with my opinion with a different angle or even whit but don't lower yourself to childish
Snide remarks. It will just turn this site into a character assassination site and not about arsenal.

Agree2 Disagree4

11 Sep 2016 19:27:41
I think our mentality is under question more than our players ability when it comes to playing Chelsea and Mourinho (utd) Ryan, player for player we should be capable of getting points off both but will we? We've managed a couple of draws at home to Chelsea under mourinho but not looked mentally capable beating them in my opinion and away from home, well that's best not mentioned:-)
A few seasons back we couldn't be any big sides then we went to city with Le Coq as DM and since then we've beaten city and utd home and away, Chelsea and Mourinho are our next mental obstacle to over come f we are to kick on.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Sep 2016 19:36:27
I do apologise for being negative but i think the games with citeh, chelski and man u will decide if we are on the same level as them.

11 Sep 2016 19:56:42
No Steve you're wrong I have no problem with your posts, I'm not hiding and being snide, I'm out front and saying my opinion, with feet on the ground is opposite to yours. It isn't always in disagreement but maybe pointing out how you could look at it.

If it bothers you there's not a lot I can do about it, it's a banter site mate, rough with the smooth and all that.

Plenty portray a negative view and some for me with little realism, you in my opinion are blinkered by your dislike of Wenger and see little good in anything and generally like to look on the bleak side and say that's how it is, to a degree some of it is on the money, we don't all sit with our eyes closed though and I'll happily give a more levelled opinion against yours.

If it makes you happy that I'll blithely agree with you then I'll give it a try but I've simply pointed out things you would beat Wenger with that in fact are not exactly how you portray it.

11 Sep 2016 20:34:05
I agree on the games against Chelsea City utd will tell us how close we are or not Steve, but without wanting to get to personal can buy smartten yourself up an bit mwte, you've been wearing that same shirt for 3 years now mate :-)
Make an effort man.

So red tell me what negative view without or with prejudice have i given this week. And i'm not blinkered in my view of wenger, that is my opinion of wengers ability but i have always said the guy is always welcome of proving me wrong and i'm not on my own. I have lots of mates who don't want wenger but one of them loves him to bits still, i admire him for that but he also knows i don't agree with his assessment of him and we respect that. You choose to name me in a dig for something in a post started by you, so yes that is a personal attack on me and not my views, tell me when i have chosen to name people and attack them for what they think, in a sly dig, you wont, i have too much respect for that. I don't do thinly veiled attacks on individuals, i respond to their post and give my view.

Have you suddenly changed names to Kante, Mourinho, Mustafi or Arteta because I don't see your name in the original post.

Maybe you just honed in on the negative parts in my post as they struck a chord with you.

Further if you don't post for a week you're not going to say much of anything negative.

Then you post and in answer to a question, would you pick option A, B, C or D but go on about how all other clubs have made massive improvements and we are chasing coat tails.

No nothing negative about that at all mate.

There is further nothing thinly veiled about my posts. I make them as clear as day. Maybe it's your attempts at thinly veiled critisism you're thinking of fella.

Agree3 Disagree1

12 Sep 2016 02:49:33
Yes red and they must have struck the same chord as you when you metioned my name in the follow up post pal, so it was a vailed swipe at me, funny gunner should allude to that too but only you really know. Still i'm sure we are all good and sorted now and you can get back to the posts you used to write that were about your opinions of arsenal. Like i say its opinion and it doesn't matter what we say, it won't change what will happen on the pitch at all, positive, negative or sat on the fence. Look forward to you supporting or slating my posts.

Lol, cheers Ed :-)

G62,
Some would say we can't use Chelsea as a marker anymore because Chelsea never use to beat us, Mourinho did :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Sep 2016 07:24:28
They didn't need Mourinho to beat us at the Emerirates last season dags, I personally think Chelsea with or without Mourinho is a good test for anyone but especially us.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Sep 2016 07:37:54
I mentioned your name because 62 mentioned it, like I said I think differently to you, you clearly have a problem with it and of course it struck the same chord as the vast majority of your negative posts do which is clearly what I highlighted, giving you examples. How more up front could I be.

I come on to read the site, I'm not avoiding what you say because I have a differing opinion to you.

I don't agree with other people's opinions and I'll say that too, but you had no answer to my last post other than to avoid the valid points. Was your reply not negative to the ABCD question, had you not posted for a week. Hmmm.

Ultimately this is our club and to me you clearly have little intention of supporting anything about it. But that's your choice, your opinion.

Perez was just OK not the best debut not the worst. He drifted out wide a lot so I sense he is not striker that thrives on lots of Physical contact with the CB's unlike Giroud who is more comfortable with taking the contact. We had more box threat from crosses once Giroud came on so I think he is still a starter for me when fit. Perez I see being more a wide attacker to rotate with Walcott, Sanchez and Wellbs. I would be interested to give Iwobi a go as CF in game to see what he is like there as he seems to have good physical attributes.

Optiona A: Play poorly and win
Option B: Play well and lose or draw
Option C: Play well and win
Option D: Play poorly and lose

We have done a lot of B and tbh, I would convert all those Bs into A. For me the most important thing is the points. Option C always ideal, but if we can't do it, I will take As all seqson long. Fergie won quite a few titles with lots of Bs.

We got lucky yesterday but all teams get lucky at some point over a season and over 38 games luck plays a very tiny part in where all teams finish.
Yesterday came on the back of the international break so 3pts is 3pts and the performance in 1 game isn't that important, the next 2 PL games will be much better indicator what the season might hold with a tough trip to Hull next weekend then Chelsea at home the week after.
I can't ever remember a side playing poorly for 38 games a winning the league or a side that was brilliant for 38 games being relegated, over the season every team finishes where they deserve to be it champions or relegation luck will make only a fraction of a difference.

Peps made a massive difference to citeh, maureens made a massive difference to manu, contes made a massive difference to chelski, klopps made a massive difference to pool, we don't look much different, obviously its not all going to stay the same but we need to pick up on our efforts so far for the rest of the season just to stay on the coat tails.

I still don't see us being involved in the battle with city Chelsea and utd for the title Steve I'm thinking a top 4 battle again and anything more would be a very pleasant surprise.
I'd be absolutely delighted with 80 + points for the first time in year's and see that as real progress if meant finishing anywhere in the top 4.
