"For my progress and my visibility, it would be better to play for a club who play in the Champions League, " he told reporters.

"I know there is a lot of speculation, but I still have three years on my contract, it does not depend on me. We'll see in the coming weeks." - Morgan Schneiderlain.

Surley he won't have said this unless he wants a move? Come on Arsene, as the great hall & oats once said, Make my dreams come true.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Am I missing something here? Why all the hype over him? He been good all season, but hasn't stood out, we need world class not good players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good player but we need a beast in there and he ain't that.

Agree0 Disagree0

If he is that good he should be a regular in the France National squad by now

Agree0 Disagree0

Look up the word 'potential' in the dictionary.

Also, last season he scored 6 and had 6 assists.
He had more shots on goal than all his team mates, bar the striker.
he has a great engine, can run all day and is a solid defender

Agree0 Disagree0

Forgot to mention., he made la ligue team of the season.
would love him at Arsenal.

Agree0 Disagree0

DAGS

He is 24, why is he only on standby for the French squad

Mate you do big these payers up, we don't need to be looking at players who can't get into their respective national sides

Agree0 Disagree0

Looking at it objectively BG, do players always get picked for their national sides on merit alone?

Agree0 Disagree0

Banbury mate,

You also have to look at the players in front of him at International level, which in this case is Sagna, hence why Aurier is not first choice France right back.

Aurier is his automatic replacement, at club level, hopefully Arsenal, than International level.

Zinedane Zidane made his international debut at 22, by your reckoning, that's old, also by your reckoning that mean's you think he is crap?

Making your international debut at 24 doesn't mean you are crap, it means that quite possibly, there has been an established and experienced player in front of you.

Pat Vieira made his debut at 21. Does that make him crap?.

They compared statistics with some of the major right backs in the world, Aurier, Zabaleta, Philip Lahm, Seamus Coleman, Sagna, Ivanovic and Danny Alves.

Aurier came out top on every statistic, eg, interceptions, blocks, clearances, last man-tackles, assists, defences errors and athleticism.

I would take him any day mate, even if he is not a long established international.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry,

I completely messed that post up.

Because Aurier plays for Toulouse i'm thinking he's French, he's not, he play's for Ivory Coast.

My mistake.

Agree0 Disagree0

Again I have to agree with DAGS here, we have world class players already, adding a Remy here a Schneiderlin there will allow the Ozils, Walcotts and Ramsay's to shine brighter - the future is great we don't need to replace half the team with World Cup all stars…

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolutely Rooster,

Agree0 Disagree0

Giroud never got a France cap before he came to Arsenal Neither did Nasri or Kos! I am sure he would be a at least in the squad next season for France if he was a gooner.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dags def of potential. Possible as opposed to actual.

Imagine £100m

Benzema £35m
Bender £22m
Sanchez £30
Aurier £7m
Free Gk

That's how I would spend the money

What do we think of Tottenham.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No left winger? I pray we sort that situation out, griezmann / di maria type player and we will be laughing.

To answer your question.

I think Arteta has a year left and will be great to have on the bench. I think we will sign a young Dm to gradually take over from him.

I think Wenger still has a dream that he can play Jack, Rambo and Diaby in the middle.

I think we have to sign a striker, I quite like Sanogo in terms of presence, but he just needs to calm down a bit and think before his final ball or shot.

Bit worried that Jenko won't make it, would like him to.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Unless we buy a top quality RB I'd like Jenks to be given a chance, this time last year Rambo wasn't good enough for us, now a year on Bayern head the list of clubs waiting for the slightest encouragement to make a bid for him

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope we don't sign aurier, the last thing we want is two in experienced right backs. Sign a quality top rb for him to learn off, or not at all for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we need to face facts about Rambo, unless we get back to lifting the PL soon, eventually he will be off to bigger and better things .

Agree0 Disagree0

Steve, Clubs around Europe rate Aurier Highly, even made the ligue 1 team of the season, and has impressive attack and defensive stats, why would you discard him?

Sagna is gone, let's face it. got his pay cheque and good luck to him, but its not like he had a season where he blew away the opposition, infact he was liable for quite a few of our defensive lapses, same can be said of gibbs and monreal too.

I Expect us to sign Aurier, and a DM before the world cup starts, provisionally I mean, as the window does not open till July.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lakerville, i'm thinking arsenal not other teams, do we need 2 inexperienced premier league right backs. i'm sure he is very good but why gamble and wait for him to bed in. If jenko is good enough, then play him, if not get experience. Buy potential where you have cover not where there isn't any.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lakerville, I would sell monreal and get cole, purely for the same reason. i'm thinking arsenal again not sentiment. i'd take cole back tomorrow. Experienced lb and rb would help us no end. Monreal is not reliable and gibbs is in and out.

Agree0 Disagree0

But steve that would possibly sew disharmony in the squad.

santi and areta would lose a spanish compatriot and we would gain a player who arsenal fans generally 'dislike' including those in the squad i.e jenko

Agree0 Disagree0

Goonerlink, he was singing xmas carols at the arsenal party with jenko.

Calling all gooners! Now the monkey is off our back and London is white and red, just remember it's officially 6yrs and 2 months since Spurs last won a trophy!

Tick tock, tick tock!

Judging by the reactions of the players after the cup final and the bus parade. Vermaelen and Podolski are definatly staying. But Sagna and Fabianski are off.

So we need:

1.) GK - i'd go for a better goalie to keep Szeszncy on his toes. Maybe keep Viviano? Would love to see Frazier Forster of Celtic.

2.) RB - Preferably a younger player who can cover CB aswell. Serge Aurier or Micah Richards would be perfect. Piszcech of Dortmund would be amazing.

3.) CB - Keep Vermaelen as a great 3rd choice. Bring in a young guy with high potential. De Vrij or Martins Indi two great young Dutch CBs. Think both would be fairly cheap.

4.) CDM/CM - Think its time for Diaby and Arteta to move on. I dream of Gundogan, Pogba or Khedira. But would settle for Lars Bender or Schnierdlin. Both are good tacklers and can play out. Gareth Barry no no no.

5.) ST - Benzema would be amazing. Feel Yilmaz of Galatassaray has been overlooked - Strong, quick and good finisher. Remy or Morata would be good aswell.

So we could make a title winning squad with 5 signings that would cost less than £100m and isn't too unrealistic.

Forster - £12m
Aurier - £10m
De Vrij - £8m
L. Bender - £25m
Benzema - £35m

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I can still see both Vermaelen and Podolski leaving.

We must add pace up top or it'll be more of the same next year.

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely agree Detroit, that would be pretty much perfect in my opinion. I think experience would be better in RB as we also have Jenkinson and Bellerin. As you say, Piszek (spelling?) would be a dream signing.

G95 I see what you mean but I really think we should be keeping Vermaelen and Podolski. Verm is a top-class stand-in, Poldi is the best natural goalscorer at the club and is very dangerous. We need to add to our squad not replace players. I hope they don't leave.

hi eds
do you have any insight into the much talked about Fabregas buy back clause? So much chatter about it but little clarity.
Thanks, keep up the good work.

Arsenal. Arsenal. Arsenal. Once he's signed his three-year deal worth £24m, the club's Arsène Wenger will embark on the mother of all summer trolley-dashes in a bid to consolidate next season's tilt for fourth place in the Premier League and a second-round Champions League exit.

That comment was from a well known and respected newspaper . Why does it feel like every time I read an article about our club there is always a little dig in the form of a sarcastic comment or just plain bitterness . Is there an agenda with these quote " journalists " that I'm unaware of? Is anyone else fed up with the constant negative spin put on our results and club as a whole . I would like to know people's opinion on this, and what do you think eds'?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Don't pay any attention newspapers.}

Well known, yes. Respected, I think not!

Agree0 Disagree0

People are very protective of their own club, I would say that goes for most supporters of football clubs, and don't see or can't see why commentators and writers write some of what they do. But rightly or wrongly people with no apparent axe to grind, see the problems and because it sells papers etc add a bit of poetic licence, or exaggeration. Plus it is a free country and they can write what they like and you can read what you like.

Agree0 Disagree0

I understand what Steve.r is saying but in Ireland, some papers didn't even make the FA cup win the back page story.

And that isn't because it was second to any Irish sport story. I would understand that.

The highest selling Sunday red top ran a story of Suarez going to Benzema on the back page!

So many papers just have no time for us. And those that do, by in large have nothing but **** to say about us.

Even city get more coverage than Arsenal in Ireland even though they have no history of Irish suppourt in the country unlike Arsenal.

And it isn't even because they were on the title run this year either.

I have just seen how old James Milner is, I assumed he was older than 28.

Anyway, I would definitely take him- experienced in the league and now Europe, very professional, hard trainer and can do the job in our midfield.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Perhaps he could give us a bit more mobility and bite in front of the back four. It would be interesting if we were able to sign him & Micah Richards, but I'm not sure whether City would sell to us. In addition City need to keep their 'homegrown' contingent, as they need them to boost their Premier League squad & they can only select 21 CL players, with, I think at least 8 homegrown players?

Agree0 Disagree0

Thought he was 31 myself.

Would take him for £5m I suppose, would add depth that we lacked this year.

Would be grand to give Ramsey/Ozil/Cazorla a rest on the away trips with a well EXP prem player.

Although I think he wants first team footie.

Maybe if he wants the Arteta role but in that case we'd have better spent the other £95mil so well that we could overlook not sighting Bender or the ilk.

Over the moon with the FA Cup win. The bitterness coming from the Spud fan's is something else (apparently the FA Cup is a Mickey Mouse trophy now)?

This win has been particularly special in my eyes for a number of reasons.
The main reason though, is the fact that my 1st born child was born 3 months before our Champions League final loss.

I thought that year was going to be the best in my life, hoping that becoming a father for the 1st time would coincide with us finally winning the 'big one'. Alas, it wasn't to be!

As you can imagine, every season we didn't win anything I was looking at my son and thinking "oh no, since you've been born we have been unsuccessful" "Maybe I should have wore protection that night".

LOL Wee jokes. I love him more than anything.

What has been hard though, has been him growing up and loving football as much as me. Unfortunately the poor lad has had to put up with me forcing our jersey on him, year after unsuccessful year. Making him watch some harrowing performances on the telly and finally getting him to the Emirates once last year.
His buddies, some UTD fans, some Chelsea, some City (we're from Ireland, us Irish support all-sorts) have been rubbing it in his face about being 'loosers'. I thought he was going to jump on another team a few times. Especially when the snake (RVP) joined the Mancs (he idolised him).

Young kids don't care about balance sheets, getting top four, or working towards the future. They want to be known as a supporter of a winning team right here, right now. Sad as it is, but it's true. I look about my town on the weekends when we're out and about and all you see is kids wearing UTD, Chelsea, City shirts. Obviously it's all a little fickle but kids don't care. If their team is winning in their early lives, they'll more than likely continue supporting them throughout their lives.

Anyway, this trophy win has made my life a little bit easier and Saturday was fantastic for myself and my son. The joy and excitement on his face when Rambo scored the winner was epic. He's already talking about going back to the Emirates next season and looking forward to viewing the trophy room (his 'buddies' apparently think there isn't one).

Hopefully the board and Mr Wenger can see how much being successful can change how a club is revered amongst it's young fans (the new generation of supporters). We need to really build on this success and add some quality players to push us forward even more. Even our young players have now tasted success and will be hoping it continues. Adding the right players to this squad could see the reintroduction of our glory days. Footballs all about the glory isn't it? I think that's what it says in the cricket stadium.

Gaz baz is available on a free this summer apart from a 2 mil signing on fee. If the host of linked signing for DM don't come off, he may well be a solid addition. Sured up Evertons midfield last year a load. We could do a lot worse, freeing money up for sanchez, benzema etc.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We could also do a lot better.

Agree0 Disagree0

If your a club with next to no money he's a bargain that will fill a gap temperately, if your a club with 100 mil? A bit like your boss giving you a £50 meal allowance and treating yourself to a supermarket sandwich that's been reduced due to being close to its use by date and handing your boss back the £49.10p change! he'd be pleased but slightly insulted and very confused

Agree0 Disagree0

19 May 2014 11:18:03
It is likely that Wenger will sign 4 players maximum for next season. Assuming we need:
1) Goalkeeper
2) Right Back
3) Defensive midfield player
4) Striker

Who would you want, assuming he has the reported £100m to spend, which I very much doubt he will spend.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

GK: Vorm or Ruddy
RB: Aurier or Chambers ( hope Bac will stay though)
DM: Martinez or Bender
ST: Benzema or Costa but most likely Bony or Vela/Immobile

Agree0 Disagree0

GK back up keeper no more than 3 mil
RB aurier 15 mil
CDM Matuidi 30 mil
ST Draxler 40 mil

Leaves us with 12 mil to sign up a back up CB and winger

Agree0 Disagree0

My realistic guess at this:

Gk: sorenson
Rb:aurier
cb if verm leaves: aren't sure, someone young though!
Cdm:gaz baz or gonalons if avaliable
Cf/winger: alexis sanchez
Maybe a cheeky bid for morota to to bolster the forward line.

I got so pie-eyed after the cup win that I had such a monumental hangover yesterday that I've taken it upon myself to quit smoking. Something tells me that I wouldn't be saying this if we didn't win on Saturday. Good times.

Wish me luck.

To that wonderful chap PINKY

How have you managed to take Chelsea from 3rd to 3rd after only spending 110 million pounds?"

The above was a question to Maureen recently.

LOL

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I look at it as ok we finished 3rd but we made a title push this year year b4 we were ovee 20pts off the champion! Its progress and regarding our strikers have less than 20 goals between them

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow, the funny thing is, this isn't the 1st bitter Chelsea troll I've read posts from, belittling the Gunners success. I'm going to quote a blog that couldn't have put it any better.

London is red. Never, ever, let that be in any doubt. Those nine years without a trophy was a blip due to extraordinary circumstances which saw us build a stadium. That period of austerity is finally over. Chelsea and Spurs had nine years to close the trophy gap between themselves and Arsenal. They failed. They are the specialists in failure, not Arsenal. Not Arsene. And now Arsenal have stretched their lead over them once again, added an 11th FA Cup to a cabinet which already contained ten. Chelsea, with their decade of unlimited spending have managed a total of seven in their history. Spurs have eight, but only two league titles to Arsenal’s 13. Chelsea have four. Sorry you couldn’t catch us while we took a break. We’re back now, we’ll take it from here.

Agree0 Disagree0

I meant to put this in reply to Stinky, sorry, Pinky's quip, literally trying to rain on our parade that he stated below. Oh well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have you won the champion league? We win everything you have! London is blue! And if it wasn't for us doing well in Europe u wouldn't even be in it! Bow to our feet

Agree0 Disagree0

Pinky London is red and white my friend, when chelski won the champions league and the fa cup 80,000 showed up.when arsenal won the fa cup 250,000 showed up now I'm no math wizz but.

Agree0 Disagree0

You're 100% right there Plonky, sorry, Pinky. Chelsea won a UCL, very well done to them, an excellent achievement, which is more than Arsenal have achieved in that comp. I guess we'll have to bow down. Oh, apart from the facts already mentioned above, you know those silly stats like Arsenals 13 league titles to Chelseas 4, 11 cups to Chelseas 7. Probably shouldn't mention the 50 year title drought Chelsea went through either, or the 7 times Chelsea has been relegated. No, there'd be no need to mention any of these facts because you've probably only been a fan of Chelsea FC since 2004. Now, why don't you trot off back to your hole where you can stew in your bitterness and leave us to enjoy our moment, like someone with at least the slightest amount of class. Besides, don't you have homework to do?

Agree0 Disagree0

Your club has as much class as. Hmm let me think of something classless and lacking moral fibre. Oh yeah, your captain.
Flybo

Agree0 Disagree0

Pinky Pinky Pinky

we could all go on about yesteryear, have you ever been out of the top flight . of yes sorry . We were picking up the Double long before anyone knew Chelsea had a football team. are you still in your 20th century stadium, are you self sufficient, have the mighty Chelsea ever gone a season unbeaten? If the board at Chelsea walked away including the Russian could you stand alone, oh no. No we haven't won the CL but when we do and we will, we won't have a player quickly taking off his tracksuit to pretend he played in it.

And yes Chavs will no doubt win the F A Cup again and yes they will parade it, please come back when they do eh?

I think giroud is better in a 4-4-2. and that backheel was world class. what a week! still celebrating

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I just think he missed the kick so it came off as a backheel, make no mistake it was a badly scuffed shot.

and while we did win the FA cup giroud is not the way forward as our primary forward.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey Lakerville. Giroud has been putting in class assists every month.

That was no fluke. He just only performs well when play in compressed to the final third.

Agree0 Disagree0

LAKER

I don't get your anti Giroud, yet another assist for him, he has been very good for us without his goals we wouldn't have finished 4th, be grateful for what he has done, he is no Ronaldo, or Bale or Suarez but he never will be, but he has certainly contributed for us this season mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Rooney, Van Persie, Aguero, Dzeko, Sturridge, Suarez all score the goals you'd expect them to and the ones you wouldn't, Giroud simply dosent, he wouldn't make my bench.

Well it wasn't in any doubt was it? At two nil down I thought I can see the newspapers and websites now. We're going to get absolutely crucified.
I had a bit of a mare myself. I told Santi "don't shoot from there!" and after Ramsey had several shots I told him to "Stop shooting! Everybody wants to be a bloody hero!" Yes, but only very few actually can, and Aaron is one of them.

Happy for Gibbs. If we hadn't won that game, that miss would haunt him for the rest of his life. If it didn't, I would of haunted him for the rest of his life. Fortunately I can save on the bus fare.

The ref was an absolute joke. 4 shouts for a penalty, 2 stonewall. Persistant fouling. Oh it doesn't matter now.

But I'm over the moon for Arsene. I dread to think of the ridicule he would have got. No other manager deserves or needed that win more. It's nice that the belief he has in the players has finally been realized.
Fat Micky Quinn on talk sh*te was saying Arsene looks frail. I'll tell you this mate. If you and all the premier league managers ran a marathon. My money would be on Arsene. There was a picture of Arsene with his shirt off. I tell you what, if I'm in his condition when I'm his age, then the woman I'm with will be a very lucky ladyboy.
If you compare him to other managers in the league, they need to worry about their health far more then Arsene, and their a lot younger.

Lastly I'm over the moon for you lot. Been on this site off and on for quite a few years. Us the fans deserve this. We pay the most and have waited long enough. Hopefully the first of many in the next few years. (Fingers crossed)
Apologies to my Cousin who I accidentally elbowed in the face when going ape when Rambo scored the winner! You shouldn't have such a big head.

WE LOVE YOU ARSENAL, WE DO!

You got to ask yourself, would any other top team in the prem open top bus parade a fa cup? I let you figure out the answer

Believable0 Unbelievable0

How could they, there is only one winner each year and that is US

LOL

Agree0 Disagree0

Pinky just bought that comment for £50m. Yes, it's pretty ineffective, but maybe it'll roll something over the line in a few years.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pinky, you act as if Chavski have always been a big club. Until you lot got bought by the KGB there used to be a little saying "There's only three certainties in life: Death, Taxes and Chelsea being a dissapointment"

Now tell me something Porky. If you're so happy at the fact that your sugar daddy has bought you four FA cups in the time we've earned one, why do you feel the need to come on to the Arsenal site and troll us?

Bitter at winning absolute sod all this season are we?

Agree0 Disagree0

Well, when you are a self-sufficient club it's a true celebration you see Pinky, because its down to the club as a whole - its more of a collective/community feeling. For me that's something worth valuing and celebrating.

As opposed to say having a rich benefactor who underwrites everything. Then you have one person to thank- your sugardaddy -fair enough, but its not quite the same is it?

In other words, we have an open top bus parade, because it means something to us and is valued.

But you have probably forgotten what that feels like. For e.g. in 97 and 2000 when you won the FA cup- guess what? You had an open top bus parade.

Agree0 Disagree0

If chelsea won a trophy, the specialist in winning trophies would have booked london to show he is not a specialist in failure. wait what. he didn't win a trophy? surely not. but he's a specialist right?

hi ed, can you explain why SAGNA is good enough for Man u and Man c but not good enough for us, contract and money not withstanding, where does this leave us on Wenger's promise ( re Van Persie)of not selling an Arsenal star to a competitor) Wenger has shown his first example of hypocracy or is it just football again. gutted

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - the only issue with Sagna was length of contract. He wanted more years than Arsenal would offer.}

An age thing, Wenger would never give a long contract to a bloke coming into his 30's

Sagna wouldn't get into M City as a Starter, as for Man U, let them have him

Agree0 Disagree0

If we do land Aurier, I won't be missing sagna, I can see the potential Aurier would go on to display, there is a reason big clubs want him, and he wants Arsenal.

fortune, luck, whatever, sign him up.

Eds or anyone in the know, do we expect interest in morota to be reignited this summer? We need a forward, but just can't see Wenger buying 4-5 first teamers. And with aurier, sanchez and sneiderlin all being touted around surely a cheaper younger forward is more likely from le prof?
