Yes i know it was against sunderland but gibbs came in and did a good job and giroud showed where his worth to this team should be this year. For 70 mins until giroud came on it was pretty non inspiring stuff but if giroud can come on and do that and i think he can, he's done it in the past, then we have a plan b. Hope we don't see ramsay on the wing too often, wenger don't drift back in to your silly ways please, make it a one off. Ok now for nasty November.

Kieran is a good lad and I really hope he's improved dramatically over the couple of seasons he's been out of favour as first choice left back if he holds his place we will soon know the answer to that over the next few games but I. think Monreal will come back in for the big games if fit.

Gunner i don't see either as shoe ins or the future but on current form monreal is out for me, he is slowing down and he gets out of position and can't get back. I wouldn't like to see monreal against walker next week that for sure.

While I guess it's possible I don't think a player loses his pace and ability in the space of 3 weeks Steve mate, if that was the case Sanchez Ozil Caz would have all been long gone as they've all had poor patches during thier Arsenal careers mate.

Agree1 Disagree2

29 Oct 2016 21:41:37
Gunner he has been losing it for a long while, he has only ever been a steady left back with not a lot of recovery pace but he is no spring chicken and like mert, starting to get found out, i don't think its a blip.

Agree2 Disagree0

29 Oct 2016 22:29:53
Its all opinion Steve but I think if everyone sat and thought about it you'd be hard pushed to name 3 players who had better seasons for us last season than Nacho Monreal mate.
He may never have been a world beater but he certainly doesn't come into the Per bracket mate.

Great to see Giroud coming back in style. might be considered as starter against Spurs. but please no Ramsey, at this time his place is on the bench.

I have stated for ages that neither of our LB's are top quality and we need to sign one. Monreal can be exposed pace-wise and Gibbs started his career as a midfield player and has never convinced defensively. Sating that, I thought Gibbs had a decent match against Sunderland.

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Oct 2016 07:29:36
Interesting convo I can see both sides. I've longed for Van Aarnholt at LB for Arsenal, I think he is enormously underrated.

Agree1 Disagree5

{Ed001's Note - Van Aanholt really? Why? He can't defend and is nothing special going forward. If anything he is enormously overrated, he needs to stop strutting and start working on his game.}

30 Oct 2016 18:02:37
I personally think Liam Brady is hugely underrated, one of the best crosses in the prem. Giroud will be happy.

The Toot five winless matches. Where is raver when you need him?

I'm here R. G., the Subaru is spluttering at the moment. We are struggling for goals with no Harry Kane and are struggling badly. It will be a easy 3 points for Arsenal next week.

I hear his cites from his Subaru now as he speeds down the highway
"We're still unbeaten blah blah blah"

Its a long way back for Spurs if we beat them next week but beating the only unbeaten team in the league will not be easy by any means as city Liverpool Everton have already found out this season.
At our best a win is very very achievable but anything less and it's to close to call either way IMO.

It's rarely an easy 3 points against the Toot, but it would be a very welcome 3 points. I think Pochettino is learning how hard it is combining CL and PL football, as well as having many players on Intermational duty. Already out of the League Cup, 3 points off the top of the PL, which could stretch to 6 points next week. A difficult couple of CL matches coming up. If Chelsea draw or win tomorrow, the Toot will be out of the top four. The pain at the lane goes on.

No question that in terms of premier league ambition both Chelsea and Liverpool lack of European games will play to their advantage at times over the season, Spurs are discovering that the jump between spursday night league and champions league is huge and without their main goal scorer its making things tougher still.
Today was the first time they've conceded from open play this season though.

29 Oct 2016 22:52:10
If all what Spurs is about is Harry Kane raver. in that case you are not a big team. he is a class, but to say that you are not doing well because he is out. just shows that you are nowhere near top four.

Good day so far, with a win for us and two of our rivals Man U and the Toot dropping points at home. Interesting to see if Lverpool or/ and Chelsea will drop any points. We look in good shape for Tuesday's CL match, followed by the Toot at home. A couple of wins and we will be sitting pretty.

We thrashed Chelsea and lost narrowly in the first have of the season to Liverpool, whilst playing Chambers and Holding at CB, as Koscielny wasn't back from international duty, nor was Ozil. We hadn't signed the superb Mustafi who hasn't been on the losing side since signing for us. The Toot on the other hand haven't won for 5 matches and have become draw specialists. The pain at the lane just goes on. 1961.

A draw like your lot today;
We will finish on a high, we didn't get going yet. we will finish above you lot.
Usually i would say this time of year arsenal will fade away but i think if the can keep their players fit they will be in with a shout.

Two goals for Olly two assists for Mesut certainly an option we shouldn't overlook or be afraid of using as and when needed.
Giroud doesn't fit into the fast pacey attacking style that's been doing us fine so far this season but he's certainly that plan B we've been shouting out for.

29 Oct 2016 15:43:37

It does give wenger a bit of a headache, does he stick with sanchez up top, or bring olly in.
I woke up and thought I'd missed the game, luckily, it had just kicked of, it was against a poor Sunderland side, but a great game to watch.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Oct 2016 15:59:25
For me right now Sanchez up top is plan A and Olly plan B and think plan A will be used in most gamex The Olly factor and Olly Ozil combo could prove invaluable at times over the season.

Agree2 Disagree0

29 Oct 2016 17:15:17
If fit, Giroud will likely get plenty of action from the bench and a reasonable return on impact in games. That's how he was early last season when Theo started games up top for us. The main player who could challenge Giroud for that is Welbeck, but we all know he couldn't offer quite the same presence, link-up or finishing.

Walcott, because and monreal injured. Two big players out, its only Sunderland so let's hope the replacements are up to it. I think other tha perez they are minor but a lot of changes, let's hope we are ok.

With a heavy schedule ahead, surely it makes sense to give the three players facing fitness tests a few days more to recover and play;
Gibbs for Monreal
Oxlade for Walcott
Elneny for Cazorla

Squad rotation will be so important in order to avoid the usual mid-winter dip in results and this season we have the strongest squad we have had for many seasons.

Sanogo, having a tiring away trip in the CL to follow, victory should virtually ensure qualification for the knock out stage after only 4 matches. This is followed by the North London derby and the run in to the new year is packed with matches. I fail to see the point in risking players who are just returning from injury or have niggles. The players that can come in are argualbly equal to the players they would replace, with the exception of Elneny for Santi, who are very different and we miss Santi when he is out. Ideally I would play Ramsey instead of Elneny, but I am not sure this is the macth for him to start having just returned from a lengthy time out with a hamstring injury.

29 Oct 2016 09:14:39
Chelsea and Leicester became champions by playing their best available 11 week in week while we have rotated ourselves into also rans for years and still had an awful injury record while doing it RG mate.
Surely if you hope to get a different outcome to previous seasons you need to be prepared to learn from your mistakes and what was successful for others mate?

Interestingly the team sheet is as I suggested, with Gibbs, Elneny and Ox in. It seems Wenger is singing from the same hymn sheet as me! Now let's see if we get it right! Yes, I am not a huge fan of Monreal, not that Gibbs is any better. I feel we need to sign a quality LB. Clearly Debuchy needs to go, especially as we have Jenkinson back and he looks a far more mature player than when he went on loan to West Ham. I would also look to replace Monreal in the summer window. I would keep Gibbs as he is homegrown. A top notch forward is also needed, Aguero please!

Thank you Sonogo. I thought Elneny and Gibbs were quality. I was disappointed with Ox, he looked fatigued. He needs to learn from Sanchez, get fitter and work his socks off. I can see him going at the end of the season, when we should sign Draxler.
