I think that if any specific attitude should be adopted towards our transfers and all links with players this season, it should be one where nothing is believable. I for one will "believe it when I see it".

don't know who we will buy but don't think we will get anyone until qualification to champions league proper is obtained. gutted about higuain they can tie up paulinho we get sanogo not a great week.

ty. 1

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why are you 'gutted' about Higuain? Did he pass away or something?

And what is everyone's problem with Sanogo? He was a FREE TRANSFER and he's a great youth prospect.

Agree0 Disagree0

And? Frankly so what. I can understand ppl's impatience, but if we make some great signings this summer, when they arrive doesn't make a whole lot of difference to me.

That they happen is the most important thing, not when imo.

Agree0 Disagree0

Young sanogo seems to be playing a blinder at the mo in the u20 world cup, I am looking forward to see him in pre season

Agree0 Disagree0

I would have thought that when they arrive does make a difference, something to do with training together, tactics, set pieces, defending as a team.

Agree0 Disagree0

"I would have thought that when they arrive does make a difference, something to do with training together, tactics, set pieces, defending as a team. "

Yeah ofc- don't you think wenger and his staff know that! If you asked wenger, in an ideal world, when he would sign players what do u think he would say?

I think they know a lot more about football than you and me.

For whatever reason, sometimes deals takes longer than others.

Its the fans who are anxious/impatient for the deals to happen- I get that.

But ultimately, as far as I am concerned as long as they are signed, whether its tomorrow or in months time, that's all that matters to me as a fan.

In the meantime some fans just need to learn how to regulate their anxiety!

Everton fan here, how many of you are confident in landing Fellaini? I can tell you I think he's a bit overrated to be fair, not consistent as he was earlier last season. There has been rumours of Ramsey coming part of the deal, what do you gunners think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Id like Fellaini but wouldn't want to lose Ramsey for the sake of it

1404

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd gladly 'lose' Ramsey *rolls eyes* if it meant getting a top PL enforcer like Fellaini.

ANY day of the week!

Agree0 Disagree0

NI, have you thought of why Moyes isn't taking him along? After all they need to replace Carrick sometime soon. Furhermore, are you counting our Home-Grown? Djorou cannot be counted right now, so leave out Ramsey and count the rest.

Lanz

Agree0 Disagree0

No, ramsey will be better than fellaini in a few years. Don't forget that ramsey is younger than fellaini and has more potential.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you think Fellaini is overrated you will be sadly disappointed with Ramsey. The boy is average at best, perfect for Everton.

Agree0 Disagree0

NI GUNNER you should really look at some stats, Ramsey is up there with arteta and carrick for last season for most midfield related stats eg, touches, passes

Agree0 Disagree0

Ramsey is a player we should not lose, he showed signs of getting back to his best last season and more importantly he has the heart of a lion and would play to his best ability anywhere on the pitch (even in goal if you needed him to).

We need more players like Ramsey!

337

Agree0 Disagree0

Loan to Everton for Ramsey would be perfect. He will play first team football in amazing club, it would improve him a lot. Tbh, I don't want to lose him permamently, I feel in my bones that he would become best midfield duo with Jacky.

From Poland with love.

Heard a rumour suggesting we're trying to sign Higuain and ANOTHER Real Madrid player, not Di Maria.

That's an interesting theory for the hold up. Eds? {Ed027's Note - Nothing in it

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Seriously wtf is 3m euros when you are already laying out 27m! Pathetic if its true and would it come as any surprise?

In my opinion if the gh deal is not done by tuesday/wednesday next week, then unfortunetly I can't see it happening at all.

Dont hold your breath.

Are we the most frustrating club when it comes to transfer windows? I guess we can all speculate on what is happening but who really knows? Only Arsenal F. C and the clubs they talk to and when a transfer is done it will be reported on the official site. Now we can all put our two penny worth in after all this is a rumour site but what will be will be.

With all of the players leaving which is a good thing we have to buy and I am sure the club has learned from previous seasons (I hope so) so expect players to come in over the coming days and weeks. I do however hope that we have a fairly settled squad by the time the season starts with maybe one additional big signing to come in.

For now let's be patient and wait the next announcement

brace yourself for a moan, which I pre-empt with an apology. if you are easily bored, do not read on.

been sitting on this higuain thing for a month, been told it's being signed today. come back from london, sit on twitter for hours while watching the tennis. next thing higuain is having his medical done. next thing, he's not in england, he went home because that person at real decided to put a block on the deal at the 11th hour. then I hear we had never even put in an official transfer. anyway, the sky is obviously red and the grass is blue, as I seem to live in a world where the truth is a foreign entity which has vanished into the setting sun, I am left wondering what the point is, when newspapers, the public, governments and sportsmen lie through their teeth and make stuff up at the drop of a hat. it's no wonder the world is falling apart.

i still hope we sign higuain, but whether we do or not is immaterial. what I have learnt today is that the world is full of bs.

phew. thanks, it was either that or throw something lol

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mate do yourself a favour- there are positives and negatives in trying to get information about transfers.

Most of the of the time you are led on a merry dance (as you describe perfectly!)- as much as we want transfers (especially exciting ones) to happen, I find visiting here and arsenal.com a few times a day enough.

It will do your head in else chasing rumours and hear say (with let's be honest very little facts) everywhere!

Sit tight- it will happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently Everton would think of a swap deal of Ramsey+cash for Fellaini. I don't think I'm quite ready to let go of Ramsey, and quite frankly I don't think it will happen. What are your thoughts people and eds? {Ed027's Note - Won't happen, Ramsey is worth 15-20m easy if Allen, Henderson go for that mark, that deal would also mean we need another midfielder, not going to happen, Ramsey will be our utility man next season

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not a fan of Ramsay personally. yet. I believe the deal would make sense but only to loan Ramsay for a year. Everton first team would improve him alot. Then him and Wilshire can ruin premier league for us year after

Guys, don't worry, the report given by Marca this morning about there being no bid submitted was taken from the same source, Higuain's biographer, who said about 3 weeks ago that we had bid 30 mill euros for him! Total bs from marca.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I genuinely beleive that higuain will come to you guys and I also think the way you play football will suit him as well, so I think he will be a success (unfortunately) I read it will now be next week though. what I don't understand we bought paulinho with very little interest from other teams coming in for him and you seem to be doing the same thing with higuain, but this doesn't happen to our clubs usually, we usually get gazumped are you concerned about this or do you accept it I suppose I can see higuain wanting to come to arsenal more than paulinho would want to come to spurs but I just hope our to fella's turn out as good buys as they look.

Dont want to be the pessimist on the site but I'm starting to think that Higuain won't be coming.

I have a gut feeling we will disagree on some financial aspect and it will fall apart.

Believe me, I don't want to think this. I would love higuain to join us, and I've been very excited by these rumours.

I do hope I'm wrong, but i'm finding it difficult not to imagine this transfer crashing. Maybe Manchester city will come in last minute and turn his head, maybe even Napoli, who knows.

Im trying not to get my hopes up, because I have a feeling I will be let down (not for the first time either).

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes because obviously supporters are supposed to know the ins and outs of multi million pound transfers. all these "top tier" players haven't actually gone anywhere and wengers lost your support before pre season. i'm sure your support will be sorely missed.

As an Arsenal fan Juventus have really started annoying me over the last season or two. Last year they kept saying they wanted RVP, then they couldn't afford to pay the fee we wanted or put together a financial package to entice him.

This year they talk about how they want Higuain, and Jovetic, driving the fee for both up however, when the time comes to get down to business they announce they can't afford Higuain or Jovetic and that poor relations with Fiorentina have stopped any chance of a deal. I don't understand why they talk big knowing that they can't do the deals. They now have gone and got Tevez and Llorente one for free and the other for less than half of the fee talked about for either Jovetic or Higuain.

Don't get me wrong they do some great business, Llorente for free and Vidal for £10 million highlight that, but they never spend the big bucks on fees. In the last three years the most they have spent was £15 million on Asamoah and Matri. You have to go back to like 2008 when they last spent more than £20 million on a player and that was Melo and Diego and we all know how they turned out. Now I know we are hardly big spenders in the transfer market but we don't pretend to be, Wenger and the board don't talk up signing a player then when the time comes we can't step up to the plate we just quietly go about our business, whether fans like the signings or not and I wish Juventus would take a leaf from our book.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hey there Highbury

I posted a similar comment below pondering the same thing. To be fair, it would be very easy to doubt Wenger and want him sacked after the way the last 5 years have gone, but Arsene is no doubt the best man for the job.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi mate,

Well as we all know things can change in football overnight. I spent most of the year saying I hope we change manager this summer, and have based this on what I have seen from the players on the pitch and what I consider to be Wenger's hand in that. I have big issues with our formation, our lack of rotation, transfers, tactics, all sorts, and have only ever justified him being sacked by those means, rather than say being a petulant brat and insulting Wenger and hating him on a personal level in any way.

But, like I said, things happen in football very quickly. We're by no means the finished article and we've just witnessed one HELL of a manager merry-go-round. That has changed everything and for me that's a massive opportunity for the club to allow Wenger to really give this team-building project a go. Someone said on here once it would be a massive shame for Wenger to spend all this time building something only for another manager to come along and reap the rewards. I can't deny there is something in that, and whilst all year I didn't want to hear it, now perhaps it is different.

Considering our biggest title rivals have all changed managers, I think now would be the dumbest time in all of the last 8 years to sack Wenger. There is such a massive opportunity for AFC to capitalise on all the changes in the prem and across europe. We've got a real chance to add some decent players, build some cohesion between the players and manager, and take massive strides. I think we'd risk that hugely by bringing in another manager now.

So for me it's a case of Wenger do NOT ffff this up, you've been dealt another hand, damn well use it. I don't expect us to challenge next season because we all know what the team needs to be able to do that and we all know that won't happen this summer. But part of it will. As long as come the first day of the season, we're in a position that looks like a half-way improvement between finishing 16 points off the lead (or however many) and being genuine challengers after another couple of top additions next summer, then I will be satisfied.

Wenger knows what he has to do, and knows he's been handed a golden opportunity to show us what he can do. He knows ultimately it's all on him now. I would expect us to compete for a top 3 finish. If we finish outside the top 4, or only just scrape it, or spend most of the season out of the top 4, then his position should be brought into question next summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

In Wenger I Trust

And based off of what Tony Adams says, my suspicions were accurate

If Wenger walks, we are royally screwed. No other manager has such an all-encompassing job in the world. Not one. Anyone replacing them would be in over their heads

Like I have said many times, eventually, years from now, his name will live on long after Mou is an afterthought. 200 years from now they will know Arsene Wenger, not even kidding

once we sign higuain and hopefully some others, I cannot wait to see how many gooners who slated wenger and called for him to be sacked this summer will be singing his praises and pretending like they never doubted him for a moment lol.

I'm expecting quite a number of bandwagon jumpers as well, pretending like they supported the club through all the tough times.

Whatever, the loyal ones know who they are ;)

Peace guys,
Trinidad-Gooner

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If we do sign some quality players, and that is still not confirmed, why would everything suddenly be ok?
Wenger and the board are being forced to start spending by the growing amount of unrest amongst the fans.
If signings do come, that is not great management, that is signings caused by pressure. It does not change the last few years, and does not necessary guarantee success.
"Loyal" does not necessary mean "correct"

Agree0 Disagree0

We'll see how Wenger does this season alright, I would suggest Christmas will show us in our true light and define Wenger's probably year.

Agree0 Disagree0

I still think Wenger should go. Problem is the replacement I believe. I think it's a case of " Better the devil you know than the one you don't "!

Agree0 Disagree0

To the second poster, do you really think any signings we make would be because of pressure and not because Wenger truly wants this club to succeed?

I think the club have had a long-term plan in place for some time now and they realized that they could not compete for big name players with the likes chelsea, city and rest so they decided to bide their time and pay off the stadium while rebuilding the team.

But now that FFP is supposedly coming into effect, the playing field is becoming more level and Arsenal are now able to invest in players.

Keep the discussion going though I am interested to know ppl's opinions.

Ramsey had the highest tackle success rate in whole of Europe at such young age, not forgetting his technical skills. He & Arteta shielded our back four wit their two pivot defensive midfield play. Without him we wouldn't have made cl. Remember he still young. Support our players instead of just bad mouthing them all th time.

I have to admit I'm not a Ramsey fan either I would not be too put out to see him go out on loan or even cash in on him. If the Eds are right and he is around the £20 million mark well then it's a no brainier where I'm concerned if we are looking at £25illion for Higuain I would take £20 mill for Ramsey and run! {Ed027's Note - Think of it like this, If Ramsey was playing for Swansea how much would he cost us? We bought him for 5m, we'll easily get 15m, but if Allen went for 15m, Ramsey is 20m, but if you compare him to say Thiago, Gundogan, Veratti, then you say 10m max. That's my thinking around it

It is exactly what it is the whole Suarez rumours. I speculated yesterday, but Arsenal, seemed to be angry about the fact Madrid agreed, then say that they have received interest for higuain and keep the deal pending.

Personal terms have not been agreed, just an interest on provisional figures.

Wenger is ready to sanction a 40 mil bid for Suarez. Not sure if this is to spite Madrid, this is perhaps why the william hill fiasco came out.

it is being speculated, that if madrid sell Higuain, then buying a striker will cost them the moon, so keeping higuain until another striker is brought in is their strategy, while at the same time hoping that another team comes in with a bid for him.

However they seem to be toying with Arsenal, with official statements since before the signing of Ancelotti stating, that the players sale will be decided by the manager, then the fact they have received interest in the player and are willing to sell him only for the required price. the deal was improved and they seemed to green light it, and now they have restricted the player from travelling as they have gone back on their word.

Arsenal seem to have put the deal on hold, but will make a bid for suarez that will most likely be rejected.

this is what I have heard from my source, who until today morning I suspected was Dead.

hope the guy is wrong, but this see saw ride is just making me nauseous.

Seems we are being messed around on this one, I would love to see him at Arsenal, but seems Real are dragging their heels on this, sooner or later someone will stump up with the money and we will lose out. again.

Agree0 Disagree0

Clearly you haent read the news this morning.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lakerville, do not understand if Wenger sanctions 40 million on Suarez, why not just up the extra 3 million for hig. I do get the feeling we are being messed about on this now, all taking to long. If Media is to be close to truth on the story Real had agreed to deal, and as said gave permission for all parties to talk, now it seem its all up in the air again.

Agree0 Disagree0

I did read the news this morning, mate. I was ecstatic, I even posted a very happy post, then I heard otherwise.

the papers said close, close, then on the verge, but what I have been told is that the player has not left for london,

real are playing games with us. imagine someone keeps increasing the asking price after accepting. we have no other competition, but they are not yet sanctioning it.

anyway hope I am wrong. I would gladly be happy to be wrong.

the bid for suarez, could be to make madrid move for suarez? because I don't see liverpool accepting any bid we make, and if we do indeed make a bid, it will start at £25 mill and be rejected.

these are all games. I guess we won't understand them, but I heard otherwise this morning and am just stating the same. but let's hope my source is wrong and that I am totally wrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just noticed this is in the banter section. do the eds know something? is he coming?

please tell me he's signing. or he is in london.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why does it take arsenal so long to do a deal? We need dein back? All the other premiership teams don't have the same problem as we do even the are buying players

Higuain is 99. 9999999999% done. (Fingers crossed)Now we need a CDM I would love lars bender already a great player and could you imagine in a few years if ramsey keeps improving and jack improves then throw lars in the mix wow! That would be a midfield trio to salivate over tons of energy as well.

For GK my first choice would be rene Adler doubt we will get him though but Julio cesar is more than good enough so would like him as we'll.

Lastly with djorou gone I think we need a 4th CB for me it should be a young signing so there's 3 we could go for dragovic, zouma and Papadopoulos all have potential to become great CB's.

Any other signings would be a bonus. Oh and ed would we be interested in Roman Weidenfeller? Would he even come he's been there a while?! Cheers in advance!

I am reading on arsenal Higuain deal may be off Madrid want to keep him.

SOmebody tell me that is not the case

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Unfortunately that is what I heard. perhaps we are being conned with rubbish info. let's hope its exactly that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sky TV reported this morning that we have had 22m bid accepted and his father is inLondon today

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets hope sky is right. I want higuain badly.

Agree0 Disagree0

This has come from an article in Marca who have close ties with RM. This has happened to give RM fans the idea that they are playing hard ball to try and get as much money as possible even thought it is not the case. There is really nothing to this story!

Conflicting reports this morning some media outlets suggesting we have smashed our transfer fee and some saying not even a bid has been made yet wtf is going on with this I know its not even a week in to tranfer window but some thing needs to happen quick before it all falls apart

Mate we are all as confused as you.

Coq has gone out on loan. Now time to bring in a CDM Fellani and higuain to be announced today?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And now djourou Has also now gone on loan expect some signings. Get rid of chamakh and bendthner

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully!

if Fellaini drop's his wage expectation's a bit. According to some news papers (so I wouldn't trust them that much. ) we were close to meeting his wages.

Just to clarify situation with transfers and calm the nerves of all the doubters out there. Wenger doesn't even arrive back for pre season training till today. He has been in france. Targets have been identified and club working on them but wenger not spoke to anyone yet. higuin expected at emirates today to coincide with wenger return. i'm hearing on list of enquiries is micah richards, higuin, rooney, grenier an possibly felleini depending on price. Believable0 Unbelievable0

Funny that, because there is a bloke talking to the team in a photo of pre season training on Arsenal.com who looks like Wenger.

Oh hold on a minute it is Wenger - Well you got that one wrong then!

How come there's pictures of him in training, from the other day on the website then?

Well I think for the first time we have replaced quality with quality. Higuian is a fantastic signing and shows there are real changes afoot. I admit to losing the faith slightly last season with wenger however this is a obvious shift in his policy role on August and let's have at em COYG

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Do you not remember the signings of Cazorla and Podolski last season?

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah but cazorla ain't as good as fab and podolski is no RVP as much as I hate him. Higuian is the first like for like

Agree0 Disagree0

Indeed tonyB. Higuain will be the first signing that has been an improvement on what we have lost. About time too.

Fair play from a Spurs fan if/when you get Higuain I seriously believe you will have pulled off the signing of the season.

I'm enjoying both sides movement in the market and feel everybody is getting stronger which can only mean better football and better competition

Looking forward to another season full of banter hopefully not another heartbreak like we've been used to over so many years

If you were given a direct choice between Higuain and Lewandoski. Who would you choose? I prefer Lewandoski.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

As a player Lewandoski is certainly better currently.

But then when you see the bigger picture, Lewandoski has never been at a club for more then 2-3 years I suppose. He is not happy at a side who in last 3 years have won 2 league titles and were in CL final. So even if he were to come here he wouldn't have stayed here for more than 3 years.

So considering that Higuain is better fit.

Agree0 Disagree0

Higuain.

I don't understand why people underestimate this guy. his stats are off the chart. He has scored 107 goals for madrid in 180 games, most a a sub for 2 years or so.

He is not in his peak, he is not a diva, he has got Arsenal all over him just with his moral values.

I would be shocked if we gave him a 3 year contract, because if we do sign him, next year he will be the hottest thing in the EPL.

and I know the spurs think he will flop. but I think he is going to be a massive player for us. Wenger would not spend 20+ mill if he would not fit in.

The only players I would have over higuain if we could actually afford them, would be Falcao, or Cavani.

Read up into his stats, his heat maps, and then you will see why he is our no1 priority.

If he was english he would start over Wayne rooney, if he was spanish he would start over torres or villa, If he was french he would start over benzema, if he was brazilian he would start over fred and Damiao.

but he is Argentinian. they may not be the best world cup squad, but trying to get a starting spot over Aguero and Messi is almost impossible, especially for the latter.

He has scored the most goals for Argentina in the world cup qualifiers. it does help messi is the one splitting 5 players before laying the ball at your feet, but still his finishing is something we will drool over.

considering it is a world cup year, I can expect him to push himself to the limit, to score goals galore and I can assure you he will do just that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lakerville if it comes off then that's exactly what I expect from the player as well. People in outrage over this 3 year deal but what we need to respect is our position as a club these days. He isn't walking into a team full of stars, he's walking into a 'very good' team. He's at peak age and it doesn't surprise me that he would not want a longer contract. We have to accept that until we look like a top 2 team who are likely to reach the finals of the CL, we will have to take some hits in contract negotiations. I am sure if Chelsea, City or United offered him a starting place then he would sign for longer. Still, it's a massive deal for the club and the fans and it gives the player a great platform for success too :)

i've been one of them who usually refuses to believe anything until it's confirmed on arsenal.com but various papers have got pics of higuain leaving madrid airport and he's london bound, the medical is due to take place today and the deal should be tied up before we go on tour. i'm quite excited about this and hopefully there'll be more good signings to come

If you're in need of a laugh or two, go to the spurs site and see there comments on Hig!

2 months or so ago when Ed told them he might be used in part exchange for Bale they were all making a mess in their pants they were that excited. Now he's joining a proper team and not them apparently he's a reject and will flop massively. Laughable.

North London is and always will be red. Seems Hig knows that too!
