If we do sign Fellaini, I really hope he plays at CDM. IMO that's where he is strongest. Then we could sign Grenier, Cesar, Williams and a top class striker and I will be over the moon.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree about getting Cesar or similar.

I still don't get why we'd sign Williams unless we sell TV as we'd have four CBs in their prime wanting to play and they can all only really play CB. You do need 4 players who can play CB but that doesn't mean they all need to be CBs only. Makes more sense to keep Sagna for another year who is actually quite a good CB or replace him with a similar player.

Grenier - I've not seen but unless he has the potential to be world class or near enough (and by that I mean Pires/Overmars standard) I say we need better.

Top class strike - yes please. We can afford one but can we attract one based on the fact we came 4th in our league?

Looks like we were right to back AW

We have always had a plan like any decent business and unfortunately we have had one hand tied behind our backs but now we are ready to compete

Bring on the trophies and great football AW and regain our rightful standing in world football

Come on you Gunners!

Great to hear Ivan clear up the past and take some uncalled for pressure off AW

Will be very glad to have someone like Fellenni, so also a deadly striker from anywhere be it Pl or Italiian league, also tied sagna plus another defender and keeper. Then I think we are complete.

Disco = Fellaini

Bravo buddy, had us all fooled. Pints on me

And if Fellaini comes true, no one had it before Malaga, no one

Very Good Step

Agree0 Disagree0

Just about to ask the same question.
I feel he's good but frustrating at some points picks up silly cards.
I think 22m is a bit excessive and there are better players out there for less.
But he is proven in the EPL so its less of a risk I think he's better signing than grenier but I'd prefer bender tbh

Agree0 Disagree0

I will if you don't mind.

In all seriousness. I'm not entirely sure it's true as the story came from Goal.com and they're quite unreliable.

considering the chance of signing ferbrigas, roony, haguain, villa, we all know it slim judging from the recent arsenal transfer policy, and a 23mil turned down by fiorentina for jovitic, will arsenal fear the disappointing thought of selling rvp 20mill and buy jovitic 25mill

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Van persie was sold for 24m not 20m and he is 29.

if we buy jovetic for 25m he's only 22 I think so there's time for him to develop.

Odds on Rooney staying at United risen sharply. Chelsea are putting a bid in on Jovetic. Higuain agreed personal terms with Juventus. Arsenal getting close to? If these are true I'm opening the Jack Daniels and putting on 'the bends' by Radiohead. WTF is going on?

So is there any validity to the Usmanov takeover rumors?

Is this wishful thinking on our part or is this an actual possibility?

If on the cards, why not do it ASAP so Wenger can compete at the top of the transfer market price wise before top players are bought, like Cavani

I still have no belief that Kroenke is looking to sell. Financially, we are a gold mine. Anyone capable would line up to buy us. Usmanov's offer has to be 1. 5 on the pound minimum, which I think is worth it from a long-term financial viewpoint. Problem is Kroenke knows this

Anyone with knowledge, some input would be greatly appreciated

RELAX people the window isn't even officially open yet, give Wenger and the club chance. Yes he seems to be tying up the youngsters first and ridding the club of the deadwood, but am sure we're in for big players as well. Anyone who sees Wenger on the touch line can see he is desperate for success and has his heart in our club.

Give the transfer window a chance, Chelsea signed no one, spurs signed no one, Man U signed no one, Liverpool signed no one. Spotting a theme? Only the oil well of cash city seem to have is getting spent on massively over priced players. Plus that's 2 more players on 100,000 a week and they aren't done. Financial fair play will get them dodgy sponsorship deals or not.

Holmesy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Didnt the transfer window open last day of last season?! If not then how are city signing players?

Agree0 Disagree0

Pool has signed Toure

Agree0 Disagree0

Holmesy I am with you to a point. What worries me a little bit is that Chelsea have agreed a deal for Schurrle, Bayern have agreed deals for two players, as have City, and Monaco have been busy. This is the hardest part because we won't shout about a deal being done until its official, whereas these clubs with lesser history and more money can't resist. But I remember the eds saying the Nacho deal was brought forward and was originally intended for this summer-that's a deal months in advance! So we just don't know. The idea that we've been public about various players while deals are done for others, I quite like.

Rooney to arsenAl rumours seem to be gathering pace. Is there any truth in this happening or is it just agent talk. As a person i'm not a fan but as a player no true arsenal fN can deny would fill out van persie gap fantastically. Only year rooney was given top man striker role was year after ronaldo left and he scored 38. it about time we took a player from the other big 4. Whether he's liked or not hea englands number 9 for next 5years and would thrive with theo and ox. Any chances eds? {Ed027's Note - Long shot

Worried how quiet Arsenal spending is espicially compared to Chelsea/City {Ed027's Note - Who have Chelsea signed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Just because they've been linked with a lot of players doesn't mean they will sign them

Agree0 Disagree0

Precisely ed last year we bought early and the sad thing is by the end people said we did no business. We really have to stop being fickle and at the end of the day it does not matter if the players came 6 days ago or if they come in 6 days or if they come 10 minutes before the window shuts so long as they come. Obviously it would be best for them to have time to bond with the squad etc. but you get my drift.

Hi Ed,
We've been linked with strikers like Higuain, Jovetic and David Villa, but I would really like to see Mario Gomez coming to Arsenal. He's a sub in Munich, but he's shown that he's a world class goalscorer - for Germany too. I can't see why we're not linked with this guy. I'd rather have him than Higuain. What do you think?

GJV {Ed027's Note - No to Gomez, we have Giroud, there is no need, and thankfully we're not interested. he is similar to Giroud, also in missing a sh*t load of chances

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Jun 2013 12:11:07
Question for EDs,
How do you think the up and coming youngsters will fare/ be used this coming season? I'm talking about the likes of Martinez, Miquel, Gnabry, Ryo, Eisfeld, Bellerin and Afobe. Will they be promoted and given a chance or would it be better for them to be loaned?
HarrowGooner {Ed027's Note - Reserves, few cup games, a few will get 6months loan

Wayne Rooney is a very good player. Every side in EPL would love to have him in their squad am sure. But considering his wages, I do not think it will be the right move. I also have a feeling that if he earns 250k a week, it will definitely de-motivate the other really good players in the team because he will be earning more than twice what our current highest earner is taking home. Instead, why not take the Higuain and Jovetic combination. Both are young, both are talented. Don’t think they are money mongers and would add some value to the team. I did some rough calculations, based on the figures being thrown around the rumour mill and I would definitely go for Higuain and Jovetic. In my calculations, I was assuming that each player would sign a 4 year contract with us

Rooney sign on: 25 mill
Rooney weekly wage: 250k
Annual wage: 13mill
Four years wage: 52mill
Total package: 77mill

Jovetic and Higuain: 47 mill
weekly wage: 190k
annual wage 9. 88mill
Four years wage: 39. 52mill
Total package: 86. 52mill

These are just rough calculations and haven’t factored in any bonuses or extras. Over 4 years, the Higuain and Jovetic combination will cost us an extra 9.5million but am certain it will score more goals. Also, it will go a longer way in motivating the squad than a single player. Better value for money to sign the two

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If Rooney were to come here, of which there is no evidence other than Wenger saying he is a good player, he would have to take a price cut.

Agree0 Disagree0

A big price cut, and to be honest I can't see wazza doing this.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jun 2013 21:29:39
And jovetic is capable of playing out wide, behind the fro t man, creative midfield and up front. mainly right footed but can use both. If we did sign Rooney his agent will tell him to put a transfer request in after his second year. km

Higuain will not go to Juventus as they have already secured another striker. Arsenal unlikely to bid for him, this has been a rumour for many years. Expect a striker from either the Dutch League or the German Bundesliga.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jun 2013 13:48:29
Surely Juventus cannot sign three top class strikers?

They have already signed Llorente and look to be bringing in one more, either Higuain, Suarez, Tevez or Jovetic.

I cannot see them signing two of those as they have already got Vucinic and Giovinco.

Which means there must be at least one top class striker availible for the Gooners to sign.

Who knows? We make a lot of noise about it but the thing is that the monies that are supposed! To be available is including the wages for any player we sign. So it's does not take a rocket scientist to work out that if we were to sign let's say 3 half decent players on an average wage today of £90000 a week for a 3 year contract each that's over 42 million on wages then you got there bonuses so on that basis you are looking at buying 3 players for a total of around £28 million for the three out of the supposedly £70 million in the kitty. Or the alternative is probably 1 really decent player and then back to the old we will make do for this season again and wind every one up until next season 2014/2015.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Jun 2013 13:24:51
Possibly seeing 5 additions to the squad but all under 21s
Sanogo, the Italian striker, the boy dubbed the next wilshere, some barca graduate that's being compared to puyol and now ginter from Freiburg

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Jun 2013 12:18:00
Wow,

David Dein would appear to have been transformed from a free-thinker into a Wenger follower. Crazy.

Anyone who had high hopes for him coming in and making a difference in the transfer market, be prepared for disappointed.

An interview for sky yesterday saw him explain that Wenger can only sign 'players who are available' and that other clubs' scouting networks have vastly improved.

Naturally I translate this pure crap as 'Wenger will only buy players who want to sign for us, whose clubs want to sell them, and won't come to a club with an offer that makes them reconsider if at first attempt they say 'he is not for sale'. ' I maintain that any player is available if the money is right.

I translate the second part as 'other people now use the same methods as us, or even better scouting methods/people, and we would rather see what happens and lie down instead of stepping things up in order to keep ahead. '

Dear oh dear. You can certainly tell they're best friends.

Remember folks, Wenger doesn't believe in spending the sponsorship money - he sees it as a 'reward for not spending'.

Today is one of those days. Time to bury my head til august!

I'm just praying Mark Schwarzer doesn't catch the eye of Wenger as a bargain, and we continue our pursuit of Julio Cesar.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I hope we don't get either and spend a bit extra on a world class keeper like Handanovic or Adler.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cesar is a world class player played for a CL Inter team and first team Brazil Keeper

Agree0 Disagree0

Why did Inter sell him then? He has been world class but for the last 2-3 seasons definitely hasn't. World class players don't play for clubs like QPR.

Arsenal are lining up a £10m move for Bayern Munich utility player David Alaba. from the papers.

That would be a great buy if I say do myself. Great speed and talent. not scared of going forward. He quoted saying last season the PL would be a good place to play his trade.

I think Arsene read my last post lol.

5 names I think would be great to add to the team.

Stevan Jovetic £20 - £25 million
gonzalo higuain £18 million
cesc fabregas £20 - £23 million
David Alaba £10 million
Neven Subotić £12million

But then again £70million won't be enough to buy them all. But if you go with my top estamate it all comes too a whopping £88million now in my books that would be great if the board would give the funds for that.

What the comments on this?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

David alaba is the bayern munich left back. He is the number 1 left back at the club, so why would he come to us?

They are not going to sell Alaba for 10 million. They consider him - with some justification - to be the world's best youngster.

As well as a defender we wouldn't be able to touch for a minimum of about £20m (sadly)

What I reckon is we will be offloading some more dead wood, currently we are saving 10 mill a year on salary with the 3 out.

if we can offload another 10 mill in salary, we can then have some first team promotions, strengthen the GK position, hopefully replace any player we sell, aka Sagna

and the spend will be around 50 mill. taking into account we should be selling/saving around 20 mill worth.

a striker will cost us around 25 mill
a CDM around 10-12 mill
and a CB around 8-10 mill
with a GK costing us around 3-4 mill

net spend around 30 mill at best?

Agree0 Disagree0

Defo, totally agree with you there. Hopefully we can have Jovetic to play on the wing as I think we do need a winger. Throw in a good keeper into that list and I don't think anyone would be able to beat us. Especially the way we play our football and the depth in the squad that we will have.

asharvin/squallici/denilison - gone great a start.

Why is fabanski not going thought his contract was up. let's hope we still not keeping him although he did great job in the end but there were far more many times he did not do a great job. If he says leys hope they decrease his wages dramatically.

Hoping denilison was more arsenal and less denilison.
As this would show intent to get rid the likes of
Diaby Gervinho Santos Djourou Chamakh Park
Bendtner

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Diaby will not be going anywhere, he is injured and still a good player when fit. Gervinho will probably stay unless we get a good offer - he is a useful option to have in the squad, the others will hopefully make their loan moves permanent (except Bendtner not sure what we will do with him).

Agree0 Disagree0

Usmanov again, why are so many willing to prostitute arsenal football club, he has been convicted and served time for rape, he has been tied to a murder of a man who would not sell him his shares, his money is filthy and not a rouble not tied to money laundering, as an arsenal supporter for 25 years I would rather see us never win anything again than touch a pound given by Usmanov or his partners.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2013 23:46:05
Why is everybody so negative? We are being linked with top players, new sponsorship deals, Usmanov dying to splash the cash, taken bundles off of the wage bill, look to be keeping our best players. Come on people?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Manc have signed two players and Chelski are making their moves. Man United don't need to buy but will get Fellaini and Baines, if they want to.

We have a done deal with an unknown, free french bloke. Sounds a bit like Wenger? His record in signing and developing young talent is not that good anymore. Its a long time since he "unearthed a gem".

Wenger, and Gazidis, should have left before last season, with that f*****g american, when it became all to apparent that its all about the money. We would never ever have bought Poldi, Giroud or Cazorla if we hadn't sold RCP and Song to make a profit. We won't spend big without selling under the reign of these three. Its all about the money.

Agree0 Disagree0

Perhaps because we've heard it all before? Always when membership renewals are open its "we will spend big" and nothing happens except the signing of some youth players who will never trouble the first team. Usmanov can only splash the cash once he's bought out the yank

Agree0 Disagree0

??

Man city have 100m+ chelsea have 100m+. Utd i'm guessing 50m+

Agree0 Disagree0

Man city have already spent a speculative 50 mill, united will spend around 30-40 mill, chelsea have 20 mill schurrle deal and maybe even some more players. and arsenal have spent Zero (0. 00=0. 00)

Agree0 Disagree0

I would hope ever so slightly for both Hihuain and Jovetic, either Ruben Garcia who I am told they're keen on or Vadillo, Gonalons is a much faster, much more intelligent passer, and better ball winner, he will also not miss portions of the season on the African cup of nations, Rami I agree with you on, Reina will not be willing to sit!

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2013 22:43:01
Am sure the club realise the fans are desperate to see some movement in the transfer market and I don't mean kids with potential. But right now it does appear as though selling clubs and agents are just creating bidding auctions. Yes Man C have agreed deals already but they seem to be doing the usual over paying. Paying 20M for a player who couldn't travel more than 40 miles from home for more than one day is ridiculous.

I like all of you, want to see top players arrive just don't want ripping off in the process. Would of loved to see Stekenlenberg come to us and not Fulham. Wenger obviously has other targets though. I want Higuain not Jovetic, Wanayama not Gonalons, Rami not Williams, Reina not Cesar.
