Ed001, with Raiola's demands being inhibitive to most clubs, do you think De Ligt or other clients of his will look elsewhere for representation?

{Ed001's Note - no because he looks after them well.}

Although I'm no longer a huge fan of Ozil, but I would start him against Bate on Thursday, as his creativity may be useful in breaking Bate down. I would also like to see Suarez start. Thoughts .

When we had Ozil and Giroud we were crying out for better strikers for him to feed, now we have Aubameyang and Lacazette we have a clueless manager with no idea how to combine the 3. It’s almost criminal.

Emery is embarrassingly inept. Our defending is abysmal even with a fantastic little DM. That we got rid of Mislintat and kept this joker is unforgivable.

We have actually gone backwards in my opinion and backing this halfwit is a serious waste of time.

I don’t want him back but I actually think Wenger would be doing better with this squad.

Only a media story so extremely possible it's not true at all but I read in a gossip round up this morning that Mesut is in Turkey for a few days due to not being included in our europa league squad this week.
As said it's probably totally unfounded but if it was to turn out to be true then it really would be crazy management in the extreme.

Much as I expected, some fans are turning on Emery in his first season as manager. He was left a weak squad, and a team that finished 6th last season. We are currently in 5th place, a single point off a top four place. We have 5 more points this season than we did after 26 PL matches last season.
I believe that a decsion was made, for financial or other reasons to do our transfer business in the summer window, when the wages of Ramsey, Welbeck and probably others will be freed up and players moved on, bringing in much needed funds.
It has been a difficult season for Emery, as he had to bed in new players, whilst 3 players suffered season-ending injuries in a squad that was already short both in quality and numerically. We could well end this month in 4th place and in the last 16 of the EL, in one of the most competitive PL's I have witnessed, with 6 teams all vying for a top four place. With the other 5 teams entering a busy period, with CL, FA Cup and League Cup ties to play, we could possibly benefit and secure an outside chance of a top four spot.

Much as I expected you are repeating yourself for the umpteen time RG Just constantly recycling the same old I know better than others with the same old superiority complex that comes with many thumbs ups attached :-)
Come on RG don't be shy, hit us with your new stuff mate :-)

G62 - You do amuse me. I rarely, if ever, comment on what you say as little makes any sense and the purpose of posting on sites such as this is not to make personal comments, but to be constructive. If you don't appreciate my comments then simply ignore them. Clearly some people do appreciate what I say, as the positive thumbs often indicate. I for one never issue a negative thumb as I don't wish to deter people from making comments, even if they are idiotic in the extreme.

Love you RG :-) you are funny.

Welsh gives names to the people who agree with him, like Jelfy and Crybaby, I was just wondering do you have special names for all the people who agree with your posts RG mate :-)

You've got to admit it is funny:-)

{Ed001's Note - Walter Mitty for instance?}

I must admit I have on the very odd occasion agreed with one of RG posts just to confuse him and make him wonder " where did that one come from? I've only agreed with myself 8 times how come I have 9 thumbs ups " :-)
I know I know small things please small minds but hey ho it amuses me :-)

Well said stoner someone who actually see’s what I’ve been saying, this manager hasn’t got a clue, last Thursday he brought on a sub changed formations 5 minutes later another sub different formation that’s just clueless.

18 Feb 2019 16:09:24
Spot on 62 mate, what a loser way of thinking. What weak squad, in fact this squad is a lot better than last year, we added a CD and DM and we still get exposed right left and centre. You clearly miss the point RG and your ambition match your excuses. Answer this please, how are we better tactically?
There is a reason to where we are at moment? A lucky winning run amd our rivals were as shyt as we. We are 10 points behind spurs and we were 10 points ahead of United and they over took us with the same squad.
So be real and be truely honest to your self mate.
Oh, its a banter site so you will get criticised every now then when people don’t agree with you and you should take it like a champ buddy. And enough if you don’t like what you read scroll down, I’m sure you are more mature than that.
Finally, read all your post and see how bloody repetitive you are, in fact I know it’s you before I even get to the name, I swear :)
In the end we are all arsenal mate.

Gents I’m pretty sure every man and his dog knows RG61 is a fantasist as well as having been exposed as a liar and being utterly clueless about football yet here he is preaching the gospel or should I say cutting and pasting his gospel.

As Ed01 has mentioned the name RG61, it’s pretty clear Walter Mitty suits you to a tee.

Penthouses, private jets, playing football at a high level, friends with the rich and famous blah blah blah and all of it utter rubbish.

Were you not the one a few weeks ago continually using the term “the excellent Xhaka” only to suddenly change your tune. Emery will never take this club anywhere.

You literally post the same stuff over and over and over. You have zero credibility and I would put money on it that it is you continually liking the drivel you write. As Moe says I too know it’s your tripe before I ever get to your name.

But carry on fella, keep the laughs coming thick and fast. 🙄.

18 Feb 2019 17:10:02
I'm yet to hear one person come up with anything tangible Dick has done that we can all say " yes that is better than the past " Moe, it's all blaming the past for our current failings in formation tactics and 2018/ 19 performances.
I hear people say when Dick gets his own players we will see him at his best but how do they know that? How can anyone know that? It's all just wishful thinking rather than based on anything we've witnessed so far.
I'm not saying new players definitely won't improve us but if Dick really is a better manager than Arsene was in his last 5 seasons why aren't we seeing better performances and real tangible improvement on what Arsene could manage to get from this squad minus Torreira Guendouzi Papa of course?
The reality is so far Dick is proving to be no better no worse than Arsene and the only reason we are one point adrift of 4th place is because of Jose falling out with his players who finished runners up last season, since Olie took on United they have gone from 8 points behind to 1 point ahead of us and are looking like a different team with their new manager, if only we could say the same of Dick and Arsenal.

Stoner, that's a bit harsh mate.

18 Feb 2019 19:28:55
Sorry Malaga mate but Emery has not done a single thing I can think of that has made us any better, getting the run around from Huddersfield and losing to a team that hasn’t played a competitive game for 2 months is as bad as it gets.

It’s no good buying someone like VVD if you have no clue how to organise us as a defensive unit.

There’s no excuse mate, he’s woeful.

18 Feb 2019 19:53:31
Has Sari improved Chelsea from what Conti delivered before him?
Most Chelsea fans would say no
Has Olie improved United? Most United fans would say yes.
Has Hodgson improved Palace? Most Palace fans would say yes
Why couldn't Arsene then and why can't Dick now but treated just like every other manager where by people call it really is right now rather than them be treated like a protected species that can't possibly be assessed by what on what is but instead can be only assessed on what might one day be?
You weren't happy with what Arsene achieved Mark so why are you happy with Dick for identical achievements mate?

18 Feb 2019 20:17:26
Hey John mate, I was telling stoner it was harsh on his attack of RG

As I said on here before, I will give Emery enough time to hang himself. But to have him strung up after 8 months is a joke.

Give him a coupe of summer Windows and see how it goes.

18 Feb 2019 20:33:51
Sorry Mark mate I thought we were in Emery mode not RG mode :-)
On Dick I think both him and Sari should be treated equally and if Sari has to prove himself at Chelsea by showing he knows what he's doing why we shouldn't make Dick an acception to the rules by which other top clubs assess.
As for RG, he'd be far better off being himself mate
I've seen people pretend to be something their not to make themselves popular but RG is the first person I've seen make himself unpopular by pretending to be something he's not :-)
If ever some one needed to Just go with the flow it's RG.

Ahh sorry Malaga thought you were talking about Emery. I’m just not accepting his clear ineptitude mate.

He’s done nothing to show he can challenge for a title anywhere in his career with the exception of winning with PSG which is on a par the Celtic winning their league. My auntie could do that.

As for RG everything I said is true he’s pathetic mate. Just makes up utter garbage.

I didn’t want Wenger to go, but I’ve moved on.
I don’t think emery is good enough so I’ve said that.
I don’t like some players so I’ve pointed that out.
If we play bad I say, if we play good I’ll say.

17 Feb 2019 12:13:25
I wanted Wenger to go and he did.
I was pleased with the appointment of Emery and feel he needs more time and funds.
I believe some players need to be moved on and others signed.
I support Arsenal whether they play well or poorly.

 8 0

17 Feb 2019 12:34:21
Supporting Arsenal is the one thing we should all have in common if absolutely nothing else.
We can argue debate disagree on anything and everything else but surely it's a prerequisite of being an Arsenal fan to want what's best for Arsenal football club rather than support any individual above the best interests of the club and team, be them manager player or of any other capacity at the club no one should be more important to any fan than the club/ team itself.

 1 4

17 Feb 2019 12:41:52
It took me a long long time to think it was right for Wenger to go - wish he’d left after the FA Cup on a high. I think it was the right thing all round.
I was surprised Emery was appointed but pleased having read up about him at the time.
He’s disappointed me since the first friendly and up until today. He just doesn’t do anything except not being Wenger. Eg we wanted someone to shout from the touch line - well he does that but with no impact at all.
I don’t like the board and their ambitions for the club
If we play bad I say, if we play good I’ll say. - I will support the club whatever but I have the right to question the poor running, management, coaching and expectation setting at our once great club. If we don’t - we slip into a very poor side with no return in a short period of time
No one should be happy with how we are performing but some may be more patient - just don’t lower your standards so Emery hits them.

 0 4

17 Feb 2019 14:38:06
That's the thing SY mate we kept lowering the bar so Arsene could still clear it, Liverpool and Spurs see 4th place as a springboard not a destination whilé United and Chelsea fans would accept 4th as a last resort it won't be considered a great season for them.
About 3 years ago and United fan came on this page and asked " what ever has happened to you all that you see 4th place as your limit now days "? The answer was of course Arsene part two happened to us.
The bar for us has to be set every inch as high as Spurs and Liverpool now or there was absolutely no point in replacing Arsene at all.
Spurs fans wouldn't accept Poch saying 4th place is all our limit accept it and be happy and niether would Liverpool fans accept it from Klopp so there is absolutely no reason Arsenal fans should see ourselves as not worthy of more than 4th place dreams too.

Win lose or draw I am arsenal, but the last few years it’s been hard. it’s not the arsenal I grew up with and I don’t think it’ll be back if it carry’s on like this.

 0 3

17 Feb 2019 17:11:39
It will be back, it's a matter of when not if.
Liverpool have never won a premier league title despite almost totally dominating English football shortly before the premier league began.
They've known struggles they've known glimmers of hope but it really is a matter of when not if for Liverpool to be crowned English champions for the first time and for Arsenal to be champions again.
In 2006 who would have thought of City would be top dogs and in the 90s it would have laughable to think of Chelsea ruling the roost.

Hi, is there a chance the reason ozil is not making the substitute bench that he has a large unused substitute fee in his contract? Having read recently about wengers refusal to play ox because of a clause in his contract stating we had to pay Southampton a certain amount per game (or something like that) , it wouldn't surprise me.

 0 0

17 Feb 2019 08:22:41
It's far more simple, Ozil simply doesn't suit the intensity of PL football.

{Ed001's Note - and yet when played regularly he created the most chances in Europe while playing for Arsenal. He is dropped because he and Emery do not see eye-to-eye. It is a personality clash nothing else.}

 0 0

17 Feb 2019 09:22:24
Ozil should be playing - simple

Emery can’t handle big players and we are worse for it - can’t do a lot of things but let’s stsy on the one thread.

 0 0

17 Feb 2019 09:36:54
As xhaka does suit it too well to be a regular starter and as Iwobi and micki creating more chances, this is the worst management decision is made.

 1 0

17 Feb 2019 09:45:43
Leaving big players out has to come with impressive results and performances where the manager is proven to know what he's doing.
It didn't work for Jose with Pogba and it hasn't worked for Emery with Mesut.
If we suddenly looked tighter at the back and in midfield without Ozil then who could argue with Emery?
But the fact is we concede just as many chances without Mesut as we do with but create a lot lot less.
It almost reminds me of Steve Maclaren and David Beckham situation with England between 2006/ 7.
You have to get the really big calls right or you end up looking out of your depth.

 1 1

17 Feb 2019 12:17:56
Yes, Ozil creates chances, but in order to win the Premier league players must have an all-round game and at Arsenal we have too few complete players. Iwobi, Ramsey, Ozil, Mkhitaryan, all lack quality when defending. This places immense pressure on the defence, which also contains the likes of Bellerin and Kolasinac that are not great defensively, but offer more offensively.

{Ed001's Note - all-round game? Yaya Toure strolled around offering nothing for 85 minutes a game but City win the league. You need a balanced team, not 11 balanced players.}

 2 0

17 Feb 2019 13:03:12
61 - what’s your point. Interested in your opinion and if the issue is Ozil or the other players. :)

 0 0

17 Feb 2019 13:58:34
SY4 - My point is that in the modern PL game, players are expected to perform both defensively and offensively, gone are the days when teams carried players who could only perform either defensively or offensively, particularly where the current 'pressing' trend is concerned. In recent seasons Wenger acquired too many players that were mainly attacking players. In his first decade at the club, we had players who contributed defensively and offensively, particularly in midfield. The players I mentioned offer little defensively, particularly Ozil, and hence the defence comes under increased pressure, with little assistance from the players I mentioned.
I think that is a bit of a harsh comment in respect of Yaya Toure, who admittedly did stroll around at the end of his career at City, but at his peak he could play as a DM and offered offensively. He scored a goal on average every 4 matches for Man City. He was closest I have seen to Patrick Vieira, both being what I call vertical midfield players, playing from back to front and not sideways, if that makes sense.

{Ed001's Note - I give up, you are just a waste of time trying to discuss things with. Like Vieira my arse. What are you on?}

17 Feb 2019 15:05:11
The thing is there are more than one way to make a meal fit fur a King.
Conti won the title playing 3 at the back and converted Victor Mosses into a wing back, so others including Arsene thought ok I will do that with Ox
Then came Pep with his sweeper come keeper who was as good with his feet as his was with his hands, Dick come in and thought right Petr Cech needs to become Petr Hoddle.
Trying to copy what other people are doing brilliantly with a completely different set of players to what you have is a mugs game because it will take you 3 or 4 years to assemble to get the right ingredients together by which time others have already evolved and moved away from where you've Just arrived at.
Surely getting the best out of what you have is the secret to good management and if 4 4 2 or 4 5 1 gets the best out of your team them what's it matter what others are doing.
Ideals are fantastic but not to be pursued at all costs regardless of all sense.

 0 0

17 Feb 2019 17:30:37
That's the crux g62, dick has to work with what he's got or get smart buys. Copying pepwas never going to work, pep had the advantage of being able to get the absolute best players available for his system as money was no issue, I want a sweeper keeper, see you later England no1 and long time servant, you don't cut it, get bravo, he doesn't cut it get ederson the next year. I need fast full backs spend over 100 mil on 3 of them including more on a back up then we would spend on a first choice. I need fast wingers, I've got sterling and sane but I will our transfer record so mahrez can keep our bench warm! Emery not got that luxury if he gets rid of ozil will get anywhere near his quality as a replacement? He's got him, he's going to struggle to get rid of ozil, if you can find a way to get the best out of ozil he's magnificent! I was most hoping a new manager would find a way to get the best out of ozil lac and auba, one of the best chance creators and two of the best finishers yet sadly we've got to see them together too few times.

 0 0

17 Feb 2019 17:54:04
Absolutely Eden mate, why would you try and serve up a beef Wellington when you don't have prime cuts of beef or any pastry at your disposal but you do have some very nice mince beef and potatoes that have the potential to be an extremely tasty cottage pie.
If Poch had gone to Spurs and acted as if he'd just landed in Madrid or Barcelona then Spurs would still be playing Thursday night football.

 0 0

18 Feb 2019 01:21:57
It just bugs me when they keep mentioning what Emery’s lift with, we don’t have the worst individual set of players, in fact they are above average but not been set properly.
Arsene was slated every time he selected Xhaka, I don’t see anyone even mentioning it these days.
You have a player like ozil with his vision play him in front of Torreira and Gouendouzi and behind laca and auba. Use his talent instead of killing his motivation and hunger which I think Emery already did.

{Ed0333's Note - I cant understand for the life of me why Ozil can’t get into the Arsenal team it’s a flipping mystery.

 0 0

18 Feb 2019 08:40:04
I think most people expected our new manager to be different Moe and for Xhaka days to be numbered but we seem to have found another Arsene who sees what no one else sees in Xhaka, at the start of the season every other post was complaining about Xhaka being selected but most people now seem resigned to the fact Dick is going to play Xhaka come what may regardless of performance and he isn't going to play Lacasette Pea and Ozil together because he doesn't want to.
Darsene Wengemery isn't for turning any more now than he was before he regenerated from the previous Doctor.

18 Feb 2019 09:42:55
It’s not like we are better without him, it’s not like we are creating more chances, it’s not like we are leaking less goals, it’s not like who’s on are better than him. it just doesn’t make sense.

Bring back Ozil and fire up the creativity please as we are 💤 borders no without him and it's not improved our def3nce.

How about telling one fallback to always stay back if the other attacks and that our CD can't go in the opponents half.

When defending ensure you have your number marked and get between him and the goal.

Baby steps - we will discuss which side to show the stacker in the second season as the above is complicated enough.

Coach a& Bouldie - if you've got nothing to say. Sit down so we can moan about you. Don't pretend to instruct players or carry your note book around as it makes you look even more stupid.

Remember - bring Ozil back and don't make him defend.

I see Ozil is refusing to go out on loan, which highlights the contract rubbish and the mess we are in .

Why doesn’t Dick just play him? I’m going down to the 2nd leg, surely MO will be included?

16 Feb 2019 08:37:37
I'm beginning to wonder if there is any point in Arsenal spending what little we have on more players for Dick this summer and it might be better to keep our powder dry until 2020.
If Dick can't get any more out of the same players Arsene had plus Torreira Guendouzi Papa Leno then what's the point in buying more different players for him not to be able to organise train or form into an effective unit.
If I was in charge of spending at Arsenal I'd tell Dick " show me between now and May that you do know how to get the best out of players and organise them into an effective team or there is little point us wasting our money on new players for you to not get the best out of either "
Spending money helps but it isn't the be all and end as lots and lots of managers have proved over the years, if you can't motivate organise and come up with a game plan that the players or they are capable of carrying out then no amount of money will ultimately change anything.
Torreira Guendouzi Papa have done really well but as a team our performances are no better at all to the performances of the team Arsene left.
