No subs used against a tired team. Awful defending.
I'm just glad we get a fresh start next year finally announced.
I will not miss Wenger for one second.

TG

1.) 26 Apr 2018 23:07:51
Thought we played well for most of the game and didn't think atheletico were that great still think we have a chance in spain . I think if we had won at home we would still have needed to score at there place.

{Ed0333's Note - Atletico had 10 men for 80 minutes and drew 1-1. Of course they played well. Are you off your rocker mate?

2.) 26 Apr 2018 23:08:14
We had no subs to speak of mate, the bench was extremely weak.

3.) 26 Apr 2018 23:56:13
🤣🤣🤣 a bit harsh.

4.) 27 Apr 2018 06:46:03
Fresh legs are still the last thing 10 men want to see. Something new needed to be tried.

30 Jan 2018 20:39:58
Forget the new signings offensively.

Tactically inept first half and defensively a shambles.

Still require a new manager with modern ideas nomatter which players we sign.

TG

1.) 30 Jan 2018 21:07:05
New keeper would help.

2.) 30 Jan 2018 21:16:05
No clean sheet in 7 league games and only 1 in last 10 all comps. Shockingly bad.

3.) 30 Jan 2018 21:31:45
Don't let any signings cloud the issue. Shocking most of the season. Wenger needs to go at the end of this one, no more chances.

New manager and coaching staff asap.

04 Oct 2015 22:21:17
Excellent performance today.
Fight and passion from the start. What we all want to see. On top of that great football too.
I'm still Wenger out. One result doesn't change that.Too many false dawns. If they keep putting that effort in I'll be happier.
Real effort and class today. Well done u gooners!

TG

I think today the players Arsene and this page earned a break from the in out shake it all about debate mate.
Its been a super fantastic brilliant day let's not spoil it.

{Ed025's Note - im with you mate..

A couple of points

1. Liverpool turned up knowing our formation and tactics because they are always the same. Wenger even subs at almost the same time about 70 mins. Tactically it is predictable, and the team does not relate to form. The ox by now must realise he won't start regularly nomatter how he plays. Some of you are talking about a new formation. Never going to happen under Wenger.

2. We should have strengthened the team or at least the squad. If you don't believe there are players to do that I give up. I see lots of posts today now looking for a new CB, DM etc. Should have been done in the summer and the team prepared for the season. Other teams managed to do that. This has happened before, under Wenger it will happen again.

Maybe a panic buy on the cards now? That won't change point 1. Will it push us to challenge? Time will tell.

TG

1.) 25 Aug 2015 15:38:04
Barca are predictable but can anyone stop them. They have played the same way for the past 8 years. We are a diet barca. The problem we have and why it doesn't work in the EPL is that teams are physically stronger right through the league that's why we need more resolve. Our team has no meat sacks. In saying that barca would have a tougher time in the English league. It's why Chelsea , Man City do well but struggle in Europe with continental refs. We need an enforcer we can't put chambers at CB. Regardless of talent there is a big difference between men and boys

2.) 25 Aug 2015 16:07:23
Messi browgun?

That's the difference in Barcelona and everyone else who tries to play like them.

They didn't have this dominate without Messi, they have always played the same way. Always been a good team but this is down to what Messi can do and more to the point the fact he guarantees atleast 45 goals before the season has begun.

Use need lewondowski and Morgan Sch but nit it has to he William.

3.) 25 Aug 2015 16:51:10
I agree with tg

4.) 25 Aug 2015 18:00:28
Lol even our invincible season we were predictable, teams knew what we were going to do which was kill them, and they couldn't stop us. Us being predictable is a load of crap due to which we loose points, its the performance on the day which counts. Sometimes the things with which people come up here is beyond ridiculous.

5.) 25 Aug 2015 18:22:45
Didn't understand last bit. But regardless of messi barca would have a tough time in English league . We can't play like that hence diet barca. We need more steel and discipline throughout the squad.

6.) 25 Aug 2015 19:08:48
You are comparing the invincible season to the current team. When you are world class you can be predictable. It doesn't work now that is the point. Thus, what you are saying is beyond ridiculous.
"Due to which we loose points" I'm not even sure what that was meant to be...

7.) 25 Aug 2015 19:45:16
Brow I was saying Messi is the reason noone else can consistently play like that.

You need steel to win over here and I said above Morgan Sch would of been perfect but now it has to be William carvalho and also lewondowski because he offers wh at giroud does but also the threat in behind.

And yes mystifier the invincible were predictable.. Who again? Henry, Berkamp, silva, Vieira, cole, Pires?

That's why used smashed teams.

Liverpool played great a couple of years ago with sterling, sturridge and suarez but can't continue to play that way because they don't have the players, thy need to adapt so unless arsene pulls a Messi out of the academy or abroad then you have to have a plan b.

Arsenal before every season begins are title challenegers and are guaranteed 70 points

It's how you get the extra points.

There's 6/8 with Cech. 3 last night
Lewondowski gets probably 3/4
Morgan / William 3/4 (helping you get abcouple of draw throughout the season at the ethiad for example)

So there's 12/18 which with a bit of luck here and there could be the title.

If no additions aren't made then I'm afraid thete no title

23 Aug 2015 14:22:45
Pedro starts with a bang.
Do you think he is the one special player who can improve their team? Did they have to spend money?
Well they have spent and improved.
Most teams have already bedded in signings.

The Premier league is no longer the place for Wenger.

We are going to be left behind. No excuse.

TG

1.) 23 Aug 2015 14:56:02
Chelsea sign pedro. So you come to the conclusion of Wenger out. It pains me how many fans their are with your opinion, each to their own but we are very lucky to have arsene

{Ed025's Note - i agree D16..

2.) 23 Aug 2015 15:08:16
It pains me to see fans like you.
As I said in the post most teams have signed and improved. Not just a Pedro reaction but they have managed to find a player to improve their team and they are champions. Apparently there is nobody free that will improve us.
I've said Wenger out for 10 years. Even if we sign Benzema three weeks into the season that won't change.

3.) 23 Aug 2015 15:11:09
Strong words TG. Strong, bewildering words.

4.) 23 Aug 2015 15:12:53
Let's look again new years day and then we can reasonably start to judge whether he was right, if we are miles off the pace then questions will quite rightly be asked of Arsene but should we be right in thick of things (and I think we will be) then we'll need to look again in May.
Let's get behind the team and Arsene 100% until we have reasonable reason not to.

5.) 23 Aug 2015 15:17:56
can't believe i get censored for my Rodney marsh comments, and then there's this guy?! only joking buddy, you are fully entitled to keep your opinion in your head :)

6.) 23 Aug 2015 15:28:49
It pains me to see the ignorance of some Arsenal fans and you've been calling for it for 10yrs.

Jesus it's pitiful but it's your opinion fella.

7.) 23 Aug 2015 15:39:25
So, after the 04/05 season you where saying "Wenger out"?

{Ed025's Note - that was 11 years ago CL..

8.) 23 Aug 2015 15:43:43
You guys are as deluded as Wenger.
Good luck to you all

9.) 23 Aug 2015 15:47:03
Who would you get in as manager then
TG? Which manager is available that would be a better choice than arsene. Please don't say klopp. there are so many clubs who would love to have our manager for a good reason

10.) 23 Aug 2015 15:49:57
Look, i get what you're saying...kinda, but Arsene deserves massive respect for what he's done for this club and what he's still doing for it.

3 years ago we couldn't afford to spend without selling.
We had a stadium to pay off.
We'd had no silverware for 8 years.
We were scraping around for players like Squillacci.
We even had to drag in old players like Sol Campbell and Jens Lehman..

Move to now and we've won 4 trophies in 2 years.
We've signed 2 absolute world class players.
We've broken our transfer record by almost double the former record.
We've got squad depth for once.
We can afford to sign any (available) player we want.

There's still 10 days of the window left, don't get your undies in a twist.

Sir Alex left Utd with an ageing squad, falling apart and going nowhere.
They still aren't the same.
They've strengthened, but they still have glaring weaknesses.
They need a striker, they need at least one centre back, they need to sort the De Gea saga too.

Arsene will leave this club with a team.

In my eyes, you add a top CB to this team and a top striker and our first 11 is as good as any other Prem team.
But don't forget, we aren't Chelsea or City, we may have cash now, but we can't go out and spend £20-30m on a player who's going to be a rotation option.

If we spend a BIG fee on a player, he has to be of starting quality.
That's the point, we can't go out and buy a striker for £20m then sit him on the bench as back up to Giroud.
We still have Welbeck and Theo for that.
Whilst i still think a deal will happen soon, expect any prospective deal for Benzema to go down to the last minute of deadline day.

Remember how mad Madrid fans and players were when we signed Özil?
Madrid fans have a lot of power, the club can't risk angering them too much, so if they're going to sell a player like Benzema, who the fans like, they'll need someone in to take the force of the blow.

We'll do buisness before long, just enjoy the ride.

{Ed025's Note - cracking post that D..

11.) 23 Aug 2015 15:55:41
Theres no doubt he's a safe bet. Some are happy to continue. But with that squad no way do we challenge.

12.) 23 Aug 2015 16:25:21
How is there no doubt we will challenge. Remember 2 seasons ago when was top most of the season. We challenged that season and I think we are a lot better this season so I can't see how people think we can't challenge.

Top post D that really was!

13.) 23 Aug 2015 16:32:42
TG,

Delusion has nothing to do with, you are like Derby in a dream world of what players should be brought in and you probably also believe that Usmanov would have come in and blown a load of money. That's delusion.

Great post D, said it many times myself.

14.) 23 Aug 2015 16:41:40
Who do I want as manager? Anyone who doesn't play the same tactics, formation and plan every game. Someone who is not too stubbern to see what needs to change.
Want Usamanov to come in? Sounds like you have your own agenda with another poster. I didn't say anything about that. I just don't want to stand still.
With the current squad we will not challenge for the league or champions league. It is not strong enough.

15.) 23 Aug 2015 16:44:32
Ed

May 2005 was actually 10 years ago lol not 11

{Ed025's Note - may was..but the 2004/2005 season was 11 years ago mate..

16.) 23 Aug 2015 16:52:29
Fans such as u need to think very carefully what you wish for. Like sir Alex he is going to be very hard if not impossible to replace.

{Ed025's Note - ill go for impossible..

17.) 23 Aug 2015 17:01:13
Now it's not delusion it's an agenda, that is just another typical opinion of those that want Wenger out, looking for anything to beat him with, jeez, you and others just want to use the same blanket excuses with a refusal to see what goes on in your own club.

Wengers made mistakes, sure he has, the same as he knows how to build a title winning team and is in the process of doing the same.

The fact you wanted him out within a year or so of the Invincibles says it all fella.

18.) 23 Aug 2015 17:08:32
It does Stoner.
We went years winning nothing looking a shadow of the team we should have been.
That does say it all Fella

19.) 23 Aug 2015 17:18:39
TG,

I don't think you'd find a single gooner who would say they were happy with a 9 year trophy drought but there are genuine reasons for it despite the fact we came close a few times in breaking it during that period.

I simply except it because I believe I have a genuine understanding of why. I don't see Wenger as a clueless halfwit although like I've said before he has driven me nuts.

I also think many under estimate the quality of our squad as it stands and I also believe Wenger is or will be doing everything he can to add to that.

It's just my opinion fella and no doubt we exasperate each other in equal measure, but that's part of banter and having differing opinions on our club and manager. :-)

20.) 23 Aug 2015 17:18:42
So that was nothing to do with having no money to spend for 10 years then while we paid the stadium off TG?

21.) 23 Aug 2015 17:40:20
Appreciate the opposing opinions of those of you that are courteous.
I do love the we had no money because of the stadium argument. Wenger was the top paid manager in the world for some of that time...millions

22.) 23 Aug 2015 17:56:43
D16. If that year was a title challenge then Jesus. We finished 4th and dropped off like a stone.

With this squad we will not challenge.

{Ed025's Note - watch you dont injure yourself derby..jumping on that bandwagon mate.. :)

23.) 23 Aug 2015 17:58:38
So it's Wenger's fault for being paid too much? Are you suggesting he should have signed some players with money out of his own bank account?
He didn't end up on that money by fluke. He was paid well because he was one of the most successful managers in the history of English football. The top managers and players earn top money. It isn't rocket science.

24.) 23 Aug 2015 18:05:58
It's not an argument though TG, it's pretty much what it was and what Wenger is paid is totally irrelevant.

Whilst the club was going through that process maybe, just maybe the board/owner wanted to pay Wenger a wage that was not only consummate to his ability but also that they wanted him to remain faithful to the club.

It does make me smile that fans don't care what we pay for a player in fee and wages but get concerned about what a manager gets paid. Not that you have voiced that particular opinion.

I have been a gooner since 69 and seen the good the bad the ugly and the sublime and don't blindly follow anyone but look at the whole picture and come to a considered opinion fella.

25.) 23 Aug 2015 18:08:00
Haha eds Iv said we won't challenge. And Wenger does a steady job but sir alex was at the top of the tree. Winning titles. Only way was down. Not for arsenal tho

City for me will win the league

{Ed025's Note - i think you may be right with city mate..

26.) 23 Aug 2015 18:22:06
Hey ed025.

I'm pretty sure the 04/05 season ended 10 years ago :)

I did say "after"...

{Ed025's Note - 04/05...to..15/16...11 all day for me CL, i do have a gcse grade 1 in maths you know mate!.. :)

27.) 23 Aug 2015 19:05:12
Not doubting your math mate, just the "from-to" part of it.

After 04/05 season - before (start of) 15.

10 years and 3 months :)

(Okay, I'm leaving it here...)

{Ed025's Note - 10 yrs + 3 months means its in the 11th year CL..and i will leave it there mate.. :)

28.) 23 Aug 2015 19:34:56
We are always going to have this pro and anti wenger. For me the guy is a god. And he is the single most important person that has ever been involved with arsenal

29.) 23 Aug 2015 19:57:24
Brow nailed it - we may not have won trophies for a spell but even during the tough times Wenger still pushed us into the CL and played the most stylish football in the EPL.

WE will challenge this year on all 4 fronts - always takes a bit of good fortune so we will see what happens.

Note our tough times means no worse than 4th - we are a big' club no matter how you look at it.

30.) 23 Aug 2015 20:34:07
He is cangun. He's Been a visionary . I can whole heartedly understand why people want a change its a legitimate opinion. But for me no way he stays until he has finished and he will finish what he's started.

31.) 23 Aug 2015 21:28:16
For me he is a god and a dinosaur. Everything he brought to this club was revolutionary, but now its been overtaken and out thought. The guy is holding this club back, but i don't knock people who think otherwise.

32.) 24 Aug 2015 00:25:54
To talk about the amount Wenger was paid through the years we weren't winning anything is ridiculous for 2 reasons
1- His mandate was to keep us in touch with the top teams while trying to earn money through Champions League qualification and selling at least one player for a big enough profit each season to pay down the debt on a pretty fantastic stadium.
I would say he did that pretty well wouldn't you?
And tell me one other manager you're absolutely certain could have done that or better?
2 - Real Madrid came calling at least two or three times during that period, do you really believe they expected him to take a pay cut?

Am i frustrated at just how close we are?
Yes i am a bit, but I'm truly grateful for what Wenger has done for us, and i can see a change in him this last few years and so I'm willing to give him the time he deserves to get us back to the top.

33.) 24 Aug 2015 11:48:40
Cheers Ed + fellow posters....postee's...is that even a word?

Nice to see my superhuman Arguing power is being appreciated once again! ;)

I and many others haven't backed Wenger for many years. You act like we voted him a new contract.
He was given one, nothing to do with us all backing him so you say because actually most people didn't anyway.
I'm not turning on him now, that happened many years ago.

The whole mentality is wrong but Wenger runs the club. The manager is there to motivate and change that and he doesn't.
The players mentality should be changed by him and who bought these players? Wenger.
He needs to go first then see what the next manager can change.

TG
