Media is reporting that Wolves have agreed a fee with Arsenal for Benik Afobe. Any Eds know how much?

Weisebar

{Ed001's Note - from what I am told it is not a lot up front but there are significant add ons, not got specifics though sorry.}

Hey Ed,

Is there any concrete interest in Griezmann, from Arsenal or others? And is Sociedad a club which is financially stable or will they have to sell sooner or later?

Thanks mate, your info is always appreciated.

Weisebar

{Ed002's Note - The summer seems more likely for Griezmann to move although recent interest has been shown by Manchester United, Fiorentina and Juventus.}

A couple of papers suggesting Arsene will be offered a new 15mil contract and have 40mil to spend in January. Any idea about either of those?

Weisebar

1.) I hope he dose not get a new contract, unless we win something. Its been so long with the same old excuses.

2.) Me personally I wouldent offer wenger a contract still think we need a new face with fresh ideas ozil class signing but I think he signed him to keep the fans happy as for 40 mill in jan we all no what wenger thinks on the jan transfer window we still need a class striker eg reus

3.) I think you're forgetting the huge role Wenger played in luring such a world class player to Arsenal.

Take Manchester United for example: The prospect of being coached and managed by SAF was key in attracting top names. The prospect of being coached by David Moyes however, is less so appealing, hence their below-par window this time around.

Even Jack Wilshere himself, when questioned on his loyalty to the Arsenal, mentioned that it was fairly reliant on Wenger staying put.

A new contract shows faith in our manager who in turn has shown faith in his players. I do not believe that ousting him at the start of this 'new era' that he has worked so hard to achieve would be beneficial in the short-term or the long-term.

A new contract for him would be welcomed by me, but that is just my opinion ofcourse!

4.) That's what I was thinking Haggis Gooner. But good performances and success should be important too. I'm stoked we've got Ozil, but how long will him and Wilshere hang around for if we continue to battle with Spurs for 4th. regardless of Wenger? With the changing of managers at other clubs and our stability it's got to be the year something happens for us, and if not then maybe Wenger should go.

5.) Phil17, I doubt the board would spend 42.5 million to keep the fans happy mate

6.) Where are we going to play ozil that's the problem, he won't tackle so just behind the striker, of course BUT that means carzola on the wing a big no no.i think it will unbalance the team I just do not think he is the signing we needed. it was a big panic buy to quite the fans. a couple more dodgy results and heads will fly.

7.) Good point Weisebar, it'll be a do-or-die season, no doubting that.

Perhaps contract discussions should be postponed until after the January window, so that we can see how the squad is fairing in the league/cups, and whether or not any further quality reinforcements have been brought in.

Mind you, my dad was born the same day as Arsene Wenger and he's thinking of retiring this year! Although he'd probably think twice if there was a 7.5m p/a contract round the corner.

8.) Wenger needs to stay. Ozil and Wilshere (arguably our two best players) are only here because of him.

9.) Sweeper have you watched Arsenal in the last 9 months? Pretty much since January Cazorla has played on the left. Özil signing isn't going to force the move to left wing. That has already happened.

10.) More than happy for wenger to stay as long as he keeps it real and spends the money that's available to him.

11.) We would be worse off with Wneger managing another club. If he went, Not only would we lose him, but someone else would gain at the same time, I'm not saying he is perfect, but in his own words "show me someone better who is available."

It's been rough for 8 years, but not all his fault, some of it has been bad luck, and I don't know how much is Kroenke or the board and how much is him. I think the next couple of years will tell.

12.) I'm pretty sure Ozil's preferred position is left wing perhaps Wenger can use him and Santi in a roaming role where they alternate wing to centre. On to the actual question I think Wenger should be offered a new contract, it's always been said it was a long term plan and that we would be strong over the coming windows. Most of the big money players such as cavani, falcao and bale have already moved now leaving the markets prices a little lower next season (hopefully) this will prompt Wenger to hopefully sign a few names, and if there's one thing wenger can spot its talent. he's had a few bad calls but an equal or greater amount of good ones even players who didn't do well in the prem have gone on and done well in other leagues.

13.) 10 Sep 2013 11:20:35
Wenger wanted a playmaker ever since the window started that's why we were interested in Cabaye so Carzola will be a winger this season that's a no brainer and mind you he provided 4 assists as a winger when we played Wigan last season

14.) IMO wenger should be handed one for sure I think the skeleton and the muscle is there now, and we just need to add the finishing touches we will be good this year trust me, and any IMO ozil can play in the middle or out on the left just like carzola so now this frees up podolski to play through the middle and up front, and if we can get this boy scoring he won't stop, we haven't seen the best of him yet by far, I'm loving the look of are team going forward and I think flamini will play a HUGE! Part at the back, and wants arteta and diaby are back, we are guna be solid

You can definitely rule out Ogbonna as he just moved to Juventus a couple of months ago.
