Ed001,

Just seen an earlier post from you where you mention Hayley Attwell.

Never heard of her so I googled her.

Blimey. Top sort.

26 May 2016 23:16:01
Really! Kate Middleton is far better IMO.

26 May 2016 23:26:46
Nah mate, Hayley looks a lot dirtier :-)

welshgooner asked for a Do you think we should opt out of The European Union? voting poll

Europe Poll

Believable0 Unbelievable0

26 May 2016 22:51:59
The Scots will vote yes because they didn't qualify but the Welsh and English are happy to take part.

26 May 2016 22:16:32
Really wanna get all you guys debating on this -
If Wenger signed Van Dijk and Morata as two more senior signings for this window, would you be happy?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I'd be ecstatic! Celtic have a sell on clause for VVD.}

26 May 2016 22:53:19
Would prefer Van Dijk and Lacazette.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2016 23:21:11
If those were our only 2 signings and no players left I'd be happy. We'd of strengthened our back line and added a quality striker, both of whom have their best years ahead.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2016 23:05:28
Ed007, are you pleased with Rodgers becoming the new manager?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I was just delighted they didn't bring Neil Lennon back. I am hoping that now we've spent money getting a high profile manager we match that with spending some decent money on improving the squad but I'm not overly excited by Rodgers appointment.}

26 May 2016 21:18:05
Congratulations to Podolski who scored the winner in the Turkish Kupasi final tonight.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

26 May 2016 22:07:09
I always liked Pod.
Just wished he wasn't such a lazy sausage.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2016 22:14:07
Yer, he always bashed spurs on twitter, what a legend.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2016 22:20:52
That is the only thing he could do is bash spurs on twitter. He was utter rubbish as, a player lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2016 22:37:27
Now that's harsh raver, one club's rubbish is arsenal's legend.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2016 22:38:45
Sort of agree with both Raver and Dags, he was too lazy to win the fans over on the pitch so he used twotter to become a hero to some.

26 May 2016 23:13:02
G62,
I did like the fact he would always have a pop at goal, unlike our current boy's.

Lads
Can we do a poll about Europe
In or out, Because I'm not sure. Please no long winded speech,
Just IN or Out.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed033's Note - i can create a poll if you give me the question to ask people.

26 May 2016 22:08:34
Ed033,

Do you think we should opt out of The European Market? Yes or No?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed033's Note - i thought this was going to be an Arsenal question as this is an Arsenal site.

i think the answers may as well be, 'IN' or 'RIGGED IN'

26 May 2016 22:17:24
Were definitely in Welsh, as are Leicester city Spurs utd West Ham and Southampton.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2016 22:29:40
Lol Ed033,
You could be correct.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed033's Note - And if by some miracle the vote is 'OUT', 6 months later they'll have another vote where we have to vote 'IN' or else, like the irish people had to.

26 May 2016 22:58:50
The problem is none of us really knows what out means other than a Tory government will impose more hardship on the majority of people and make the rich richer while blaming another situation they inherited.
The conservatives will win the 2020 election and I personally would rather have the EU with their foot on the brake than have a totally free to do as they like Tory government.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2016 22:16:34
I think "The Hokey Cokey" is the the answer Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed033's Note - And when Turkey joins the EU, it could be belly dancing

27 May 2016 09:18:55
Ed033 is spot on, it's rigged and the UK won't be leaving - I'd bet your over priced house on it. Vote by not voting. Imagine if nobody voted - that would scare the authorities and be the start of real change.

Agree with Welsh,

We are losing 3 (minimum) .

We need 3. Xhaka is a very good starter, we need a Centre Half and a Striker.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 May 2016 22:25:26
Being an Arsenal fan welsh you should stay in the EU, as arsenal teams have all been foreign over the years and have benefited great from your foreign legion of players. Spurs on the other hand is built in Britain with our classy English players.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 May 2016 00:40:16
I agree Raver
oooops
What have England won built with the spurs back bone
Welsh side foots that one in the back of the net

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2016 16:01:05
I read that we are "in" for the likes of Rob Holding and Ben Chilwell - don't know too much about them and all well and good, but as generally agreed opinion is that we definitely need a CB and a striker to compliment the excellent signing of Xhaka, does anyone else feel that we should court Varane from Madrid? I know he is injured so misses the Euro's but that shouldn't stop us.
I'm unsure about Morata; not exactly prolific but then again Henry wasn't before we signed him! I'd love Aubeyamang but suspect unlikely so proffer up Breel Embolo.
Also, if we are going to go for another midfielder I'd love Cahanoglu or the guy Gaston Pereiro from PSV.

Send Chambers out on loan for a season, wave goodbye to Per, sell Theo, The Ox Gibbs, Szczesny, Opsina, Jack and either Ramsey or Santi.

Midfielders of Elneny, Coquelin, Xhaka, Cahanoglu, Pereira, Ozil, Iwobi, Gnabry, Reinne-Adelaide, Santi/ Ramsey, Sanchez, Campbell should be more than enough!
Aubeyameng, Giroud, Welbeck (when back and fit) Embolo up front.

Chilwell and Monreal left backs, Kos, Varane, Gabriel and Holding, CB's, Hector and Jenkinson right backs.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

26 May 2016 16:12:18
Sell either Rambo or santi. Why on earth would you do that. Squad depth is key to winning the league.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 May 2016 16:25:57
Wenger has always said max 3 new players, otherwise team is unsettled.

We've had one, everyone agrees he'll be looking at cfwd. So after that?

I just don't beieve he'll see cb as a priority. Got to be Kos and Gab this season (I hope) . Merts has world cup winning experience, great backup/ rotation cb and won't go unless he wants to. Chambers hopefully gets some game time too. Unless someone great is available that could displace Gab, will surely only be youth buys.

Biggest priority behind cfwd is sorting out what to do with Walcott, the ox, wilshere and Ramsey. All potentially great, but can't just play occasionally any more. The Latter two need game time if they stay and I don't think aw wants them to go as they are versatile, shown real quality at times and homegrown. Walcott and ox - either AW gives them both regular game time (50/ 50?) , or let's them both leave. In which case, he'll prioritise getting an established replacement. That would also allow more time for iwobi, Campbell, gnabry.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2016 17:39:58
D16, I'd sell Santi or Rambo because as I've mentioned there would still be 12 players vying for midfield slots and I'd sell one or the other, not both. Santi on the grounds that he is 32 this year, appeared keen to go back to Spain and we don't know whether he will get back his fizz after his long lay off, or Ramsey, not because he is poor, but because he hasn't hit the straps for more than one season (when he was brilliant) and he just doesn't seem to be able to command a place in the position he would prefer and we probably all agree he is best in: as a central attacking midfielder, not a holding midfielder or a right winger.
It's easy to become sentimental about decent players and it's with a heavy heart I'd say goodbye to Theo, Jack, Gibbs and especially The Ox, but none of them have progressed sufficiently for a variety of reasons. Rosicky is another I have loved but it's time for him to go too.
I'm just trying to be pragmatic and ambitious at the same time.

Agree0 Disagree1

26 May 2016 17:42:43
Two other suggestions, both coincidentally, from Ajax.
Arkadiusz Milik as a striking option and Danny Klaassen in midfield.
But only after a centre back is procured.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2016 19:29:12
Kostas manloas would be a good shout for cb also laporte but i think he's off somewhere else. id like to shift someone else as well and just freshen up certain players. sell walcot buy sadio mane or flog ox and get someone like windajdum from newcastle. i do feel we could do with a shake up with likes of ox, walcott if we got offered goodmoney for ramsey why not.

Jimgoon,

Seeing as you asked politely, here's a little joke for you.

I have just lost out on a lead role in a major film to Matt Damon and I'm planning my revenge.

I'm going to make him wish he was never Bourne.

I don't get it is it something to do with the bourne films.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed033's Note - yes, Matt Damon has played Jason Bourne in 4 films now. "It could be worse than Snowden".

26 May 2016 22:15:51
Jeez Welsh,
Remind me not to do a gig in Cardiff :-)

Fair point Ed033.
I can't work out if Snowden is a Whistleblower, a patriot or a traitor?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed033's Note - He may have started out as a Whistleblower, but circumstances change so who knows what he is now?

26 May 2016 12:18:40
Hi eds was wondering how many signings you see arsenal doing in the summer and who do you think we could get realistically thanks for your time to read this.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - another 2 at least stephen but there are that many names being bandied about that its hard to sort out the wheat from the chaff, quality has to be the name of the game even though prices will inflate due to the euro,s, getting in as quick as possible is the name of the game mate..

26 May 2016 10:52:03
hi ed,
not posted for a while, in your opinion, do you see us having a busy transfer window and adding a quality centre back and striker to our ranks? i know arsene said previously he is looking to add 3-4 players this window, one of which being a forward player. Xhaka fills one of these spots, which leaves 2-3 players. Personally (being the optimist i am) i would love to see both Lacazette and Laporte/ Varane join. I wouldn't say its beyond the realms of possibility since we have the money, but its just a case of whether the players would join. i'm confident lacazette would want to, but laporte/ Varane i'm not too sure. Anyway Ed, it'd be great to here from you, keep up the good work.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i expect at least another 2 joe but they must be of the quality of xhaka and not just squad fillers, the 3 you mention certainly fit the bill but there are other teams looking in that market as well so the earlier arsenal can make things happen the better, the negative is that the euro,s will inflate all the prices mate so its going to be difficult..

26 May 2016 10:56:49
After ed01's comments about having my head up Arsene's arse I'm going to explain my view point again.

Do I like Wenger, YES, do I mind when he leaves next year, NO, would I mind if he left tomorrow, NO. Do I see him as an untouchable messiah, NO.

Does he make mistakes, YES, does he say some shizzle, YES. An easy example after the last game against City, "We didn't expect them to start that fast" Really?

Do I look for the negative in everything about him or what he's done. NO. Hence my reply to the Cech to Arsenal comment, may not have been the best example using the spuds, but you should be able to grasp the point. We can find a negative in everything and it's some on here's mission to paint that very picture, just not mine.

So do I counter a negative with a possible positive, YEP. Does this make me a blind Wenger follower. NO.

Now the most important ones, do I support Arsenal, A RESOUNDING YES! and does it matter to me who the manager is. NO. Do each year I want us to win everything were in. YES.

Have I said any different to all of that. That'll be a NO too. 🙄😉.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

26 May 2016 12:15:38
The fact is we all love arsenal and want the best, the rest is just opinion and banter.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2016 14:02:36
Red Dog,
Totally agree about your earlier comment's about Cech.

Yes i know Cech wanted to stay in London and Abramovich cleared the path for him to join us, but it would have been very easy for Wenger to say "Why should I pay £10m for a 33 year old, pay him £100k per week for 4 years, when i have 2 quality International keepers in Sczezny and Ospina? "

We needed him, we signed him.

If he doesn't sign a player he gets stick, if he sign's a player he gets stick.

Let's give the man some credit.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 May 2016 19:45:24
Lads lads you Arsene in boys are a little too sensitive, I never claimed Arsene was wrong to sign Cech in any way shape or form I simply said Arsene Wenger wasn't the reason Petr Cech decided to join Arsenal as was claimed by RG in the original post.
This is where it all goes wrong, someone simply points out that something being claimed by another poster isn't actually what really happened at the time and you boys rush to Arsene's defence even though no one's actually attacking him.
Chil boys your getting far to upset and defensive over absolutely nothing.

I know Dags mate I just think we're at a ridiculous state where silly claims and stats are being thrown out about Arsene be them pro in or out and if someone questions them? We're all off again.

Personally I'm with Sanogo let's all take a break from the Arsene things as he's going nowhere and neither is the debate.
Oh talking of Stats! Did you know since Fergie retired only teams who play in blue have won the premier league? I blame our kit man :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2016 10:32:17
Really interested in opinions on Theo:

1) Great runs, great vision, potentially deadly (start of last season) but let down by the supply from team to enable him to perform? Keep faith now ozil and Sanchez bedded in and we can tweak tactics?

2) a decent player, but too weak, doesn't assert himself enough at the top level, not consistent enough, has had his chances and ultimately needs to leave?

3) something witty from Dags?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - No 2 is spot on for me jim..

26 May 2016 12:18:21
Walcott under fergie let's say would have been a super star. He needs guidance and a kick up the jacksy. Also needed a run, without injury. I think if he left he could flourish.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2016 12:24:00
No 2 is a perfect description.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 May 2016 12:51:31
Here we go again Steve, because I don't agree with you. 😂😂😂😂

I actually think Walcott is simply not good enough and Fergie would have got shot a few years into his United career.

He's failed to deliver on too many occasions, to a degree you've either got it or you ain't and unfortunately Walcott falls into the latter and is not the player we or anyone would love him to be. 😀.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - i think he has the talent red dog but seems to lack desire and motivation for me, now whether thats becoming a star at a very young age and living the dream or not i dont know, his injury record is a big worry and as klopp said to sturridge "well how injured are you?" it seems that even the slightest niggle rules him out of selection, now im no doctor but guys like him and jack need to man up a bit for me mate..

26 May 2016 13:18:52
I genuinely disappointed in him ed, someone else said, if not me, that it was reported he said he didn't train to better himself at certain things, which fits exactly with this desire you're highlighting.

My trouble is Wenger gives him the central role, as in the pathetic loss to United, and he bloody disappears.

After 10 years your quality should be shining through, Le Tissier was genuine quality but he wasted that, to a degree, with his lack of desire. In those 10 years Walcotts max return is 14 goals in a season.

You are spot on about the maning up, Giroud another one constantly rolling around on the floor. 😂😂.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think a move would do him the world of good mate..

26 May 2016 21:04:10
Wally Walcot Would make a great hurdler,

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2016 20:26:08
Question for the Eds, who'd be your choices for realistic signings if we were to buy a CB, winger and striker?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - van dijk, yarmolenko and morata would be good sforza, but how realistic they are is anyones guess mate..

26 May 2016 07:42:45
I'd be very pleased with those signings.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2016 08:22:08
Agree Ed,
Wanted Van Dijk when he was at Celtic, Morata definitely, not sure about Yarmalenko, although i do know the boys on Everton page want him :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - we did want him dags but between him, his agent and their chairman they have messed us about so much that its not viable now mate..

26 May 2016 08:58:05
I know Ed,
Any mention of 'Yarmelenko' on Everton page is met with a touch of scorn :-) .

If you see your boy Tony Bellow, wish him good luck for me please mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i was with tony at a christening on sunday dags, hes looking as fit as i have ever seen him and he is looking forward to the fight big time, i will pass on your message mate..

26 May 2016 09:39:23
Mucho's Gracios Ed.

Is this going to be the first time we have seen a bit of 'fight' at Goodison this season?

(I'm jesting of course) .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - your not far wrong dags..

26 May 2016 06:35:42
I just read that one of the main factors in Xhaka signing for us, was Arsene Wenger. For those that want him to go, remember that he is a major factor in players signing for us. Including top players, such as Sanchez, Ozil, Cech, etc.
I hope we have a productive summer in the transfer market, as 3 quality signings will lift the fans and get them off Wenger's back.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

26 May 2016 06:58:11
Was he also a main factor in some leaving?

Ohhhh how do u like those apples.

Agree3 Disagree1

26 May 2016 07:33:57
Petr Cech joined Arsenal so as his family would be able to stay in London, Ambromavic bent over backwards to make the move irresistible to Arsenal as a thank you to Cech for his services to his club.
Sorry but Cech would have joined us if David walliams or Nooki bear was our manager.

Agree4 Disagree1

26 May 2016 08:07:54
Yes I too can see why he didn't want to move to the new up and coming Tottenham Hotspurs with a young progressive manager who are only going to get better under his guidance and no doubt win the league next year. Anyone who can have 64% possession in a game and lose 5-1 is certainly a top top manager. 😉

They are based in London too, aren't they 62?

You boys and your picture painting. 😂😂😂.

Agree0 Disagree2

26 May 2016 08:23:43
Good reply Red Dog.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - how is it a good reply? It completely ignores the fact that Spurs had no interest in signing him, as they were happy with Lloris.}

26 May 2016 08:42:34
Ed01,

Seriously that's not the point, the point is how you can paint a different picture to suit any argument you like. As most of the Wenger is useless boys love to. Finger on the pulse and all that. 😂😂😂

Everyman and his dog knows he wanted to come to the arse and that's how it ended. 😀😀.

Agree4 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - yes but that is the point G62 was making, he wanted to join Arsenal, they were the only team in the running, and it was not because of Wenger that he made his decision. So your post was just ridiculous and my point was spot on, it is you failing to see it because you can see nothing from having your head so far up Wenger's backside!}

26 May 2016 05:30:56
Wenger stated that he would like to make 3 signings. We have secured one excellent signing in Granit Xhaka. So two more, probably a centre back and a striker,
The CB we are reportedly after is 20 year old Rob Holding from Bolton, apparently we have offered £1.5m and they want £7m. Striker-wise, Morata seems to be the main target.
So;
Xhaka £30m
Holding £4m?
Morata £38m?
Total. £72m

We will of course sell to recoup some funds:
Szczesny £7m?
Debuchy £5m?
Campbell £8m?
Oxlade £20m?
Hayden £3m?
Total £43m

Net spend £29m, which sounds about right for Wenger.

There may be one more signing as we appear to need a RB, if Debuchy departs, Jenkinson has a serious injury and I believe he would be sold or loaned out once fit and Chambers hasn't proved good enough at RB and has been moved to CB. This fourth signing is likely as I believe Holding is being signed for the future, as we have 4 CB's ; Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gabriel and Chambers.

Interestingly we are being linked with experienced CB's as well, but this would only happen if Mertesacker was sold (unlikely) or Chambers was sent on loan (also unlikely, but would do him good in my opinion) .
Thoughts guys?

26 May 2016 04:02:21
The summer window opens on 9th June for the premiership, other countries windows open on different dates. So deals, such as Xhaka to Arsenal are made, subject to registration when the window opens in the countries concerned. Players who are out of contract can be signed outside the window. Hope this clarifies the matter.

Love it. I remember Santi having a decent strike in him when he first arrived, same goes for Elneny, Oxlade, Ramsey, etc. Wenger soon put a stop to that. I understand it to a certain extent as shots from long distance often result in possession being conceeded to the opposition, but they also result in goals and chances created as a result of such shots. It's a bit like a long pass, which purists detest, but used sensibly can prove useful,
