Is anyone actually expecting a win ?
Right now to be honest I've kind of given up we could go out and win or get stuffed badly but the way it's been going for I struggle to get excited either way
Used to be fuming after a defeat but the constant disappointment's have worn me down even when we do win I have no faith that it means the team is improving and we are going to improve
For me as a an arsenal fan for the last 30 years this is the worst half the time I'm not even sure who's playing as I can't generate the interest to check any more

We have won 3 FA Cups over the past 4 seasons and who would have said we would beat Man C in last season's FA Cup Semi and then Chelsea, the League Champions, in the final. This season we beat Chelsea over 2 legs to reach the League Cup Final. Of course on paper we wouldn't win, but football throws up results against the run of form, with the likes of Wigan beating a strong City side in the FA Cup. Get behind Arsene and the team tomorrow and let's do our bit.

Wegner will do it again, every time he is getting stick, he comes out with a big result.

3.) 24 Feb 2018 09:01:00
I would feel a lot more confident if Laca was fit.

If Welbeck or Iwobi start, my confidence will drain away.

4.) 24 Feb 2018 09:09:56
I would be a lot more confident if we could defend Dags. 😂.

5.) 24 Feb 2018 09:26:22
Stoner,
DEFEND? You do realise you can get banned for swearing on this site?
😉.

Not every team gets blown away by this city side, they are beatable and they have also had to rely on very late winning and point saving goals.
If a side is full of commitment fight effort determination passion they have a real chance against this city side.
I wonder if the Wigan players are available tomorrow :-)

Right now I totally agree we need a top class forward and CB but there aren't many around there are tons of good midfielders and keepers but CB and forwards are rare

Thinking back we had Bergkamp Wright Anelka Thierry Kanu Wiltord not all at the same time but one after another
How many clubs actually have more than one good forward ( not counting players that we used to call wingers )

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern were not looking for a striker.

Chelsea wrapped up Batshauyi early, as did Man City with Nolito.

Zlatan joining Utd was the worst kept secret in football.

Higuain was always Juventus bound.

In simple terms, they wrapped up their business fairly early.

Possibly one of the brightest prospects in European football was Lacazette.

Bearing in mind the above teams bought the above Strikers, our path was clear to sign Lacazette (if available) , but of course, we offer ridiculous money and we dilly and dally, and Lyon basically tells us to bog off.

Ridiculous.

{Ed001's Note - ah but can you compete with the likes of Palace, Everton, Sunderland and West Ham, who are all looking for a striker?}

Ed,
I think Palace (Benteke) , Everton (Bolasie) and West Ham (Ayew) are (arguably) ahead of us as they have just paid decent money for forward players.

I should I say, they were willing to pay decent money for forward players.

Surprised Klipperty didn't splash out on a Striker, bearing in mind the injury records of Sturro and Ings.

{Ed001's Note - they are still looking, Palace, Everton and West Ham, for a striker. We were too busy failing to get a left back, in true Wenger style, penny pinching over a £10m fee but then happy to pay ridiculously over the top for an unneeded midfielder at £25m just afterwards. Sometimes I despair.}

4.) 21 Aug 2016 20:13:19
Moreno is poor Ed, and I assume you are talking about Ben Chilwell, who is pretty damn good.

Wijnaldum? That's a total baffling signing, especially for £25m.

Klopp does Remind me of Wenger tbh.
Not sure if that's a good comparison, although, if there is such a thing as the "Liverpool Transfer Committee", at least they seem to back him, unlike Kroenke does with Wenger (allegedly) .

{Ed001's Note - Chilwell is going to be one of those we rue letting go, like Dele Alli. Oh and Moreno is far worse than poor.

Wijnaldum would have been baffling to me at £2.5m, not only do I not rate him in the slightest, but he is absolutely useless in the role he was signed for.

The committee is just something for Rodgers to blame when he messed up, every club has a similar system. The problem is poor scouting and worse signing strategy. I mean what moron thought Mignolet would be worth flagging up to sign for a team that wanted to play out from the back? That scout should never work in football again. Migs can't use his feet, to make up for the fact that he is utterly useless at any of the other roles a keeper should fulfil. Such as keeping the ball out of the back of the net (which I personally think is important but apparently the scout didn't see it the same way) and organising a defence.}

5.) 21 Aug 2016 21:08:28
Haha, not a fan of Migs Ed?

I must admit, his shot stopping, especially if in the air, is damn poor.

I think he will get found out this season and once Loris Karius returns from injury, will take his place.

Come to think of it, even though I haven't kept up with his form since he left Arsenal, Alex Manninger could be worth a shout.

6.) 22 Aug 2016 11:13:47
Wijnaldum not that bad Ed, you don't think that's a bit harsh? He may not be good enough for liverpool or £25m but he's already had a hand assisting a great goal against us Arsenal (cracking turn and cross to setup Lallana who is no better of a midfielder imo) , plus his stats were good at Newcastle last season - far from a bad player - it's signings like Markovic that you wanna be baffled by.

{Ed001's Note - Wijnaldum is no better than either of those. All of them were bad signings. Wijnaldum is a woeful central midfielder.}

Ok I'd like to see us not sign a winger I think Iwobi deserves a chance to claim that position he looks more and more like the real deal
Belik Apkom and the Jeff all look like they could push on and provide some extra back up to the squad.

Really impressed with iwobi. So composed and even on a hat trick he wasn't greedy and looked for the open player.

2.) 05 Aug 2016 23:09:23
I was impressed by iwobi from last season, i'm looking forward to see if he can kick on andcadd goals.

3.) 06 Aug 2016 00:11:10
I like Iwobi, but if there was a Mahrez style winger to be had, we should go for it.

If not, if Ox can stay fit, he can do an excellent job there, he just needs a run and a bit of confidence.

When we start saying 'we shouldn't sign x player, because it'll be bad for y player' that's Arsene territory mate!

If a youngster really has the quality, then they'll take their chances when they appear.
Look at Hector.
We signed an international right back to play first team in debuchy, he was solid till an unfortunate injury and since then, Bellerin has never once looked like losing his spot.

Since we all want to see Ed 02 back any chance you could start an Ed 02 rumours/ banter page!
He has total control and can ban/ block/ delete anyone he likes.

Beer Drinking Gooner

{Ed002's Note - I already have total control - you seem to forget that I am omnipotent.}

1.) 15 Jun 2016 12:02:48
Omnipotent, brilliant word Ed002! I admire and respect you for standing your ground and assertively managing idiots that challenge this great site, but do you have any plans to return to the Arsenal page? The other Ed's do a fantastic job, but without your insight this page isn't as desirable, and likely to lose regular readers eventually. I have no idea who the 'problem children' are/ were, but hopefully they have gone now.

Peace Out!

2.) 15 Jun 2016 12:50:31
I'd say for the time being stick to the european pages. Its no real hassle. And if you have question about a certain player, ask for info on that player rather than 'are arsenal interested'.

3.) 15 Jun 2016 18:44:23
Ed002, you can get tablets to stiffen things up a bit.

I am and all ways will be a major fan of Wenger the way he has transformed the club is a leagacy that will last a very very long time
But having said that I do feel that it is time for a new manager to be bought in. The last year and a bit we have spent almost 100 million on attacking players ( ozil Sanchez and DW ) players that were desperately needed due to a major shortage of other options in those positions
But at the same time we are struggling with a major shortage of options in defence ( CB RB and LB ) and are only 2 options for DM are both on a downward slope due to age and need replaced
While I accept that the last transfer window DM and CB where very hard to get ( we aren't the only club that couldn't get what we wanted ) the need for new players in these positions has been apperant for a while
As a club we have been poor in planning for the future on the pitch and that is why we are in this position now. Tactically the team play in an attractive attacking style but some of the players we have are not suited to the style due to age ( artea flamini ) physical incapacblitys ( JW Per ) or being played out of position ( ozil ) all this is down to Wenger
I think the way we play tactically could be a major success if we had the squad to play that way week in week out but right now we don't and to get to the point where we could would require another 4-5 signings
And much as it pains me to say it I no longer feel that Wenger can be relied on to make those signings

Lol was wondering if it was players that would be worth taking a chance on! Dortmund have a good record of finding players early in their career.

Barnet is still probably a bit above his level but thought he should stay in north London.

Dags signed a new contract? Why agreed to that deal with the quality of his jokes I would have prefer to pay him off and let him join a club more his level ( Barnet maybe )

We did bring in a new guy to run the medical side of things ( can't remember his name used to be with the German squad ) but I would imagine it's going to take time to change it round but it is being dealt with

Criminal case when he’s a witness shouldn’t cause any hold up
He’d have to appear as a witness but since he’s agreed to be a witness and while still be free to travel to Germany can’t see any reason it would have any affect on the transfer.

I don’t think he understands statical odds and bookies odds aren’t the same thing
The odds aren’t affected by what the team is
But bookies are ( more money on one side changes their odds )
He’s looking at that as someone who gambles and is used to being presented with the odds can’t seem to grasp the maths required to actually work out the actual mathamatical odds that really matter

The odds of that exact draw where about 5000-1
But that was the odds for any draw.

You ate he biggest threat to Man City? You had another dodgy lasagne!
One day you might learn ( to stop eating dodgy food and to stop boasting at the start of the season winners boast at the end of the season )
