Any interest in Lukaku? Thought we were interested before he joined Chelsea.

Ben.sotiris

{Ed025's Note - i dont think arsenal will pay the dosh ben, figures in the range of £65m are being bandied about which means really only PSG and chelsea are in the running mate..by the way i dont think hes worth anywhere near that..

1.) 10 Jun 2016 22:28:54
Definetly not worth that. What about aubmeyang. Surely it's worth competing with man city for him. Reminds me of Henry.

2.) 11 Jun 2016 00:06:06
aubmeyang + Mkhitaryan = happy Gooner.

3.) 11 Jun 2016 12:14:22
If he was to go to PSG would that mean Cavani would be available?

4.) 11 Jun 2016 12:06:18
Thanks ed025, shame we missed out on him before he got so expensive, but I agree probably not worth the £.

5.) 11 Jun 2016 16:40:07
65 million!?
On that basis what would you reckon Sanchez could be worth then Eds?

{Ed025's Note - about the same lanesra, real goalscorers are worth their weight in gold they say..lukaku must weigh 38 stone by that reckoning mate.. :)

6.) 11 Jun 2016 19:22:30
I know it's a banter site with different opinions but why would you not want aubmeyang + Mkhitaryan? What would you rather have in our attack? Even if alternatives are available, are you really saying that you would not be happy if Wenger added that pace, creativity and goal threat?

7.) 11 Jun 2016 20:44:20
That would be my pick SY4. If we were living in a dream world.

Sturridge anyone, seems a little unhappy at Liverpool, and if perez is to be used as right winger still leaves us short of recognised strikers.

Ben.sotiris

1.) 27 Aug 2016 19:44:54
Absolutely, he's 100% a natural goal scorer and we've needed one of those for years.

2.) 27 Aug 2016 20:49:01
Love Sturridge.

It's been said before but the definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, this is why the club have to make several changes not only on the transfer front (paying big money for a player who may not quite be worth 40 million but would be 10 times better than a player worth half that who requires time to develop) but also regarding tactics, since employing the 4231 formation we have not performed greatly. Leicester showed last year that 442 is still a very effective tactic even with the players we have at the moment we could do well using this, just think xhaka and carzola in holding midfield roles, chamberlain on the right, sanchez as an attacking left midfielder and ozil in the old Bergkamp role and (don't shoot me) Theo making the runs behind defence (as Henry or Wright did) .
With this in mind Man utd and Chelsea will be challenging for title as they are the only clubs to make big changes. Man city may have Guardiola but are still all style and no defence which won't work in the epl, Tottenham have not invested and are making similar mistakes to us a few years ago and Liverpool have invested a lot of money but perhaps in the wrong players (again) which inflates expectations of their performances.
I hope I'm wrong but fear I won't be.

Our best days under Wenger, used a 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 formation and I am a great fan of these formations, assuming they are fluid and not too rigid. He also used more tall, powerful, athletic players, I noticed last season, that a lot of teams had returned to using strong physical players in a 4-4-2 formation.

My favourite Arsenal team was the 1998 double winning team, which played in a 4-4-2 and had Vieira and Petit protecting the back four, not that it need protecting! We had the industrious Parlour on the right and the superb Overmars on the left.

The current team looks far more fragile and I have never liked the current system we use, nor too many small, technical players.

2.) 19 Aug 2016 23:06:08
RG
Agree - I don't think Ozil is able to play the DB10 role and I don't believe Santi can play in midfield in the Petit role. Granit and Elneny plus Rambo on right wing gives you Vierra, petit and Parlour
Sanchez is no Overmars either

Crazy - I just said our best two players can't equal DB10 or Overmars now we would want Theo to replace Henry

4 4 2 requires an overhaul - our team seems to fit 4 3 3 or 4 5 1.

I like 4 4 2.

3.) 20 Aug 2016 00:38:08
Oh and if you listen carefully to his comments it seems he isn't leaving the club anytime soon. Only the fans can throw him out which would be a shame as that will stain his good works for the club.

4.) 20 Aug 2016 00:49:44
The good old days. We need a time machine, someone?

{Ed007's Note - Try Ed003's wardrobe. The last time I seen him I thought I was back in the '80's.}

25 Jun 2016 07:55:47
Chicarito anyone? Thought someone reposted Elneny's agents tweet which simple said 'chicarito 😉' does that mean he could be on the move?

Ben.sotiris

1.) 25 Jun 2016 09:50:31
He's a great wee player would fit right at arsenal.

2.) 25 Jun 2016 09:53:46
I've said for a while id like Chicharito, he's a great finisher, takes up good positions and scores goals.

Problem is, he's only been at Leverkussen for one season and it was a very good season, so I can't see them wanting to sell and if they did, it wouldn't be cheap.

3.) 25 Jun 2016 10:20:31
Little chick cheep.

4.) 25 Jun 2016 10:37:33
Yeah he might keep us in top 4 but that's all, not a statement signing and another midget who can't score or defend corners.

5.) 25 Jun 2016 13:34:20
Agree steve. But he would be another good option as well as someone else.

6.) 25 Jun 2016 13:58:12
D16 as well as giroud, no, as well as aubamayang yes.

7.) 25 Jun 2016 14:21:38
So Steve your happy to get vardy but not Chico?

Laughable.

8.) 25 Jun 2016 14:59:06
D

I asked the question to one of the ed's about a month ago n ed said £15 would get him. 😳 Ermmm No brainer at that price no?

9.) 25 Jun 2016 15:10:55
Vardy is a lot better in the air than him, quicker and works harder.

10.) 25 Jun 2016 15:30:53
Steve

Nope
Only just
Nope

Little P is far better than Jamie vardy mate come on now 😄.

11.) 25 Jun 2016 17:25:04
Little pee that descibes him perfectly. didn't quite make it at man u, was a bench warmer at real and is really just a sniffer that's all. Sorry could nott do a job like vardy, good but not that good. I want star players not bit part.

12.) 25 Jun 2016 17:27:32
For £15 might be worth a shout for our under 10s. £15 would be a steal £25 too much.

13.) 25 Jun 2016 21:28:05
At both teams mate he should have been starting everyone says that, he's an out n out goal getter and would fit our style of play perfectly.

It's obviously your opinion buddy
But your WRONG ;) lol.

14.) 25 Jun 2016 22:01:10
Hes not good enough, i'm sorry, you might be happy with fourth but not me, he's not a top top striker, he's below that for obvious reasons, that's why he doesn't start for the top teams he's pkayed for. Anyway we aren't in for him thank god so all irrelevant.

Hi, any signs of Arsene rekindling his interest in signing Draxler and turning him into a striker as he did with Henry and RVP? Also CB wise could Kompany be avaliable as he is injury prone and Guardiola doesn't seem to have patience with these sorts of players.

I also thought I remember reading a quote from Wenger just before Kompany signed for City saying that we would not be looking to sign him at that point in time.

Ben.sotiris

1.) 13 Jun 2016 06:35:59
I can't see us signing either of these two players. In respect of Draxler, we have too many opticians already in his position. If Kompant is fit, I'm sure City will keep him. If he is not fit and he hasn't been for a long while, then we would be best to avoid him.
Realistically, unless top players become available in other positions, we appear to be after: A forward and a defender, probably a FB or a CB that can cover at FB. That would concur with Wenger's statement that we are looking to sign 3 players and having signed Xhakka already, this seems probable.
However, if Ospina or Gibbs were to depart, then we would clearly need replacements.

2.) 13 Jun 2016 08:12:37
Rg,
Read 1st line of your post.

Typo of the year? :-)

3.) 13 Jun 2016 09:32:51
Love it dags! Options!

4.) 13 Jun 2016 13:18:38
Also you said can't see and the opticians lol.

5.) 13 Jun 2016 16:46:48
Sanogo! Thank Q! It was 6.35am!

6.) 13 Jun 2016 17:53:26
Though I don't need the opticians, I agreed with the rest of your post rg.

7.) 13 Jun 2016 18:52:50
Don't worry mate. My spelling is terrible at any time of the day.

04 Jun 2016 19:04:28
Maybe Arsene and board are thinking if commercial win if Jamie Vardy the movie includes him winning a trophy at Arsenal, can't beat that advertising!

Could it be that someone unexpected has become available that is match fit and performing at their peak now, where as Jack looks like he is going to take half a season (of 70+ mins per game) to get to where he should be.

Hi eds, is this the result of Ben Wrigglesworths scouting, if so on reflection may not be as mad as it seems.

Ben.sotiris

{Ed002's Note - Wenger knows the Japanese game very well.}

Would it be the worst thing in the world to loan out Walcott to a pl club? He seems to have a few of the attributes to become a top striker but without a long run of games he doesn't seem to be able to settle into the role or get the confidence that you need in that role. Maybe I am crazy but people like Wright and more recently Vardy came to the top level at a late stage why not loose him for one season and see if he can return the player he was supposed to be.
