Dags according to people on here pep is a poor manager and wouldn't give him a second look for us. Obviously very lucky so far in his managerial career. On that we should be above them by xmas.

Every manager deserves one season to 'sus' out the Prem and to put his mark on the team he manages.

Early days, but they look formidable from back to front.

Not sure who you are referring to however Pep is clearly a quality manager but has always gone to a top top flight club with a budget that exceeds others in the same league by far
I would have liked him at our great club but we don’t have the ambition at a board level or the desire nor resource to match his needs - how much did he spend in two years on top of an already good side.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Oct 2017 23:22:49
Totally agree, they are a real force.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Oct 2017 23:24:16
I've not seen that anywhere steve! I think your putting words in people's mouth. The strongest thing I've heard is that he has took easy jobs and inherited good teams. He's spent 130 million on full backs. I'm the same as others that have dared question his credentials and that's how would he get on with a real project that's not half handed to him on a plate . His philosophy certainly appears to be sound and all his teams have played attractive football. So when you say "according to people on here" am afraid your talking a little bit false mate.

Agree1 Disagree4

21 Oct 2017 23:35:51
There were plenty of posts on here when pep was available and linked to us saying he was not a good manager. i'm not digging, just saying, those people will be quiet now and not admit it. My point now and then, those people speak with fork tongue.

I really enjoy watching Guardiola’s teams play and City are no exception, I’d have loved him here.

The ones who dislike him support the red side of Manchester and are incredibly bitter because he didn’t go there.

In my opinion he’s the best out there. It would be interesting to see Klopp and Pochettino at clubs with big money to see what they can really do.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Oct 2017 07:11:47
Like I say I didn't see many Arsenal fans say he was no good! Don't what's said on other sites as I rarely go on them.

Agree0 Disagree3

22 Oct 2017 08:37:21
Awesome manager, just look at the clubs he has managed and the trophies he has won. The same goes for Mourinho. It astonishes me when people big up the likes of Dyche. Koeman, Howe as possible replacements for Wenger, another trophy winning manager. Most amusing of all is Pochettino who in over 8 years as a manager has won absolutely nothing.

Agree4 Disagree4

22 Oct 2017 10:10:13
Pep did underachive at Bayern Munich in my opinion, he took over the European champions who had also been the beaten finalist the previous season too.
Bayern pre Gardiola were dominant at home and the major force in the Champions league and under Pep they remained dominant at home but never got close to being champions league champions.
Pep has a great philosophy gets his side's to play fantastic football and wins domestic titles for fun and I'd snatch your hand off for a bit of that, but the fact remains in the Champions league post Barcelona he has well underachieved so far given the clubs he's had and ressouures available to him at Bayern and City.
Pep needs to win the Champions league with City that's because they've won premier league titles recently under other managers and high those managers did it in year one too.
I'm not knocking Pep as I said I'd take him gladly but so far post Barcelona he's done nothing unusual at city or Bayern, Barcelona under Pep were the best team I've ever seen for me they had everything.

Sano there was plenty of arsenal fans posting about, "out of depth" pep and one called me a direspectful poster for telling him he was wrong, when he said that and there were plenty backing him up. But i wasnt being disrespectful just honest. But like dags says, a long way to go still.

Anyone seen the lovely story about the man in a Nottingham restaurant who saw a homeless man with no shoes walk by?
A beautiful story that I'm sure is far from unique and has already spread across the world and inspired lots of other people to go out and help others less fortunate than themselves.
In a world that sometimes seems to quite depressing and is absolutely full of bad news on a daily basis its great to be reminded that there are a lot lot more kind people in the world than the media would like us belive.
It's about time the good news got equal airtime on TV atleast, who knows what it might lead to.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - love that mate..

21 Oct 2017 19:57:33
It's a lovely story Ed025 mate and you can't help but feel a little more optimistic about the human race when you read mate.

Gunner there is not enough people in the world like that anymore. I remember when we were kids we repected everyone and I used to cut all the gardens for the elderly and carry their shopping bags off the bus etc but today society are to busy looking at their phones. Next time I'm out in going to give my clothes away as well even if i end up walking down oxford street naked, but one thing I'll be keeping is that famous car of mine as I just can't part with the Subaru.

Agree4 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - the thought of that is making me nauseous raver.. :)

21 Oct 2017 20:26:57
It's a discrace that there is homeless people in the uk.

{Ed025's Note - too right mate...thats bloody conservatives for you..

{Ed025's Note - ill bet is does raver...and lay off that marching powder mate...it makes your pinkie shrink..

21 Oct 2017 20:38:28
I don't think you can blame any political party mate. There's always been homeless whoevers been in charge. Anyone who gets involved in politics on some level are lunatics who want to change the world to their idea of society. That's why it comes down to individual acts of kindness and humanity to make a difference by sharing their fortunes with the less fortunate. I just don't understand how it's not possible to give shelter to the homeless and an adequate amount of food and rehabilitation to the homeless we have. The things that are supposed to be in place to help these people are so faceless and unaccountable that they often get taken advantage of and miss used by vultures.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - your probably right mate, its a shame that society forgets about the have nots SLB..

21 Oct 2017 21:11:22
Agree Ed the marching powder is no good for your fishing tackle, I go out with a 9 incher and come back home with a 9 centre metre lol.

{Ed025's Note - i suspect your fishing tackle may be an anchovy to start with raver..

21 Oct 2017 23:30:02
I don't know about that ed but from what I've heard it smells like one. Some posters wife on here told me. She said she was sick of her husbands tall tales and recently found out that he spent a Thursday night at work in Asda when he told her he was off to Belarus. She said you can't beat the thrill of been over a Subaru bonnet looking down between her legs to see a set of Lonsdale trackies round her lovers anckles.

21 Oct 2017 23:16:25
Don’t see what’s wrong with the conservatives - it’s the believe of self entitlement that’s wrong and the belief that the top 10% should fund everything.
I am happy paying ridiculous taxes to help the truly needy but not for it to be spent on cigs and Xbox games.
Make it more efficient for people to work, reduce funds to those that don’t and give more to people with disabilities or caring for family etc. Tax me more if we get there but don’t think the top 10% can keep everyone and thing afloat
I am going to read the Notts story to restore my faith.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - as a staunch union man my contempt for torys stems from that evil witch thatcher SY (may she still be burning in hell) who made the rich richer and the poor poorer, workers rights dont exist anymore and things like zero hours contracts and the bedroom tax just compound things, but i dont want to go down the political route on these pages mate..

22 Oct 2017 10:31:26
All great points Ed and understand your position plus agree that’s it’s not a politics page.

Are our players better with a week in-between games mate? I'm not so sure.
We've had some pretty poor results following no midweek games and with so many players being rested on Thursday it's almost like having a free week.
Everton will be up for tomorrow and unless we get off to a decent start I think they will be test us fully.

Let's give the current set up a chance Dags, if things haven't improved in let's say another 10 to 15 year's then it might be worth considering listening to Deeney and 99% of what the rest of football has been saying for the last decade.

Couldn’t see a post on it. But one area I’ve been so disappointed in this season and for me are where games are being lost. And that it the Central midfield area. I can’t see after two transfer windows we still miss Santi.
Xhaka who I’ve been sticking up for is just not cutting it. Watford was the last straw. He shows moments of quality but are few and far apart for me.

Elneny I like but I just don’t think he is good enough to be a starter.

Ramsey again like others is so inconsistent it’s frustrating

Coq for me is a bit like Elneny. Tries hard but just doesn’t cut it.

So for me as much as I’ve not been a fan
Does wilshere deserve a premier league start with everyone being pretty crap in the cm department. Would niles be worth a go? What do others think.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i have been one of jacks biggest detractors over the years D16 (mainly due to his off field antics) but ability wise he is one of your best players mate..

21 Oct 2017 11:01:13
Xhaka is only good when where in control. A bit of a flat track bully, he doesn't work hard enough to play that possition, or work hard enough in the right areas . Elneny is a safe player and very rarely if ever does anything wrong but on the other hand doesn't do anything to right either. He is the main culprit for side to side passing and passing backwards, slowing the play down and not tracing with the ball. We're in a situation where we don't have a midfielder that can travel and run with the ball except jack. But for him to flourish we need a better harder working player in there with him. Someone like kante you would see best of jack . We have not played good football since cazorla.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Oct 2017 11:13:56
Le Coq is great at what Le Coq does but he needs the right partner to make it work, Caz complimented him perfectly and we should have replaced Caz in the summer no question of that, trying to make Xhaka work has done and will be continue to be a real problem for us.
34 million is a lot of money to admit youve spent unwisely so Arsene will continue to try and make Xhaka a success.
The tea is crying out for Le Coq Wilshere partnership because it's the closet we have to what worked so well with Caz.
Arsene will eventually accept Xhaka was a miscalculation but that won't happen before the summer at the earliest.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Oct 2017 12:45:38
Ha ha D, "couldnt see a post on it" should of gone to specsavers. Lol.

21 Oct 2017 14:25:16
Tongue in cheek that part was Steve 😉.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Oct 2017 15:54:17
Spot on D16. Fact is we lack a quality core in both central defense and midfield and without that we won't compete at the top level. We are vulnerable without the ball and always likely to concede. Our successful sides of the past had this. It is also the reason where luxury players like Ozil are exposed as you need all hands to the pump when we don't have possession. With the right core you can carry players like that to some extent as a Silva, Viera, Petit would provide a wall in front of an equally quality defense. They would win the ball back and we would be off in attack again.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Oct 2017 08:28:58
Does the whole Sanchez and Ozil contract issues prove Wenger can't buy and then manage big players?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed025's Note - no, it means players are greedy glenn..

21 Oct 2017 09:02:58
Are they greedy or hungry for competitive football Ed025.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - a bit of both i suppose G62, but mainly greed mate..

21 Oct 2017 09:32:02
Do you think that's the case with those two ed? There allegedly been some big money put down for them.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - much wants more SLB, they know that these days someone will pay the fee and wages and money is power, would they go to PSG if they were offered a pay cut to join where they would win things?..ill let you decide mate..

21 Oct 2017 10:50:17
Mesut will go to Utd or Turkey and Sanchez City in my opinion and we can nothing to stop them. Our only remaining chioces are to take whatever money we can get n January or watch them go where ever they chose for free in the summer.
Even if it's £20 million for the pair surely it's better to take something rather than nothing when the outcome is going to be the same regardless.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Oct 2017 12:47:07
Top players who want to win leagues want to play at top teams under top managers. At the moment we don't fit that bill.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Oct 2017 15:23:28
Exactly neymar didn't join psg because of the sites in Paris all about money and greed.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Oct 2017 16:08:59
Money is obviously a factor but more so when players are frustrated at the lack of competitiveness and ambition. The Ozil and Sanchez situation shows Wenger was capable of making marquee signings but unable to build on that by adding continual quality and improving the team. Had we been winning leagues and competing in the CL negotiating new deals for them both would have been a far easier process. Fact is they look at the team with the same frustrations we do. Mediocre players compared to the top sides in the league. People can point the finger at them but reality is they are good enough to be playing with a higher level of player than we have put around them and those teams are willing to pay them well to do that. No brainer as much as it pains me to say it. Doesn't excuse any lack of effort or attitude though.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Oct 2017 11:18:38
I don't doubt greed in players ed but I don't think it's the sole factor in this particular case.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - it will always be a major factor for me SLB although i blame the agents myself...i hate them with a passion mate..
