I'll tell you what, this getting a brand new s****y stadium and for free, then competing in Europe for years on end is a piece of cake.

Just ask Slavin Bilic. 😉.

David Gold last week.

"West Ham are in it to win it".

Yeah ok David, whatever you say :-)

Wenger has always said, he will only biy players better than what we have. If musyafi and perez play every week and keep giroud and mert out i'm sure we will be a better team. If not then he hasn't improved us and he's failed. Simples. It will be an interesting season. I obviously want wenger out because I don't think he's got it anymore but I will be happeier still if he has bought two players who are bringing the glory back.

If we get both then it shows it probably is Wenger who has held back with spending.

I will be very happy with Mustafi and Perez.

I know nothing about Perez, but this is a what a Deportivo supporter said about Perez.

"Perez is very suited to Arsenal.
They wanted Vardy, Perez is as fast.
People say his strike rate is not great. This is an unfair stat as he normally plays Right Wing. Last season he scored 17 goals in 36 games as a striker, which is brilliant because the last 7 seasons our striker normally scores 10 goals per season".

"Arsenal supporters love Sanchez because of his work rate, they will love Perez as he works just as hard".

"He will be great at Arsenal".

Hope I am wrong but probably would have been a £5m squad player signing before the market went crazy.

Agree4 Disagree2

25 Aug 2016 23:39:30
No, why should we enjoy convincing ourselves that an unknown signing that only Everton were after, is a day of joy.
Why did we not identify him weeks ago? It's because we have taken a drop down in quality and price again so as to meet the constant profit demands of our share holders.
I personally was never calling for us to just sign someone.

Glad to finally see some signings just shocked at reported £35 mill for mustafi. Never imagined Wenger would spend that on a defender. i think him and the board have finally taken note of the fans opinions and although they might not be the players we wanted at the start of the summer I hope both deals go through and wish the new boys the best of luck.

Hello, I don't won't to slag this Perez off because I have not seen him play but once again Ozil and Sanchez apart when it actually seemed we going in the right direction concerning quality players we have come back to the same old middle quality player that we have bought over the paxt few seasons. Kozza, Santi yes together with the above mentioned are quality, but Chamakh, Sanogo, Gervinho, BFG, Santos, even Rambo apart from half a good season are not the high end quality player we should be after. Its all very admirable standing up to high transfer fees and high wages, but it don't make sense when you see the season ticket prices and commercial deals, match day revenue. Other big clubs get their players they want by putting down to good to turn down deals on the table. We will have played 3 games by the window closes the first two games have gone where we might not have dropped them points if we had acted strongly and early in the transfer market. Even in Wengers early days when we did not have the stadium debt he cannot have had the revenue coming like he did from day one at tge Emirates. I think the man is truly hell bent on winning the prem on a tight budget. He had a golden opportunity last season and missed the chance that chance taken by Leicester. He will never get another opportunity like he did last season when the 2 Manx and Chelsea were in turmoil. I don't think we will get top six because there are to many good teams with to many goodmanagers.

Believable3 Unbelievable7

25 Aug 2016 20:31:03
We budget buy that can't be argued, Wenger hopes his diet of carrots and peas will give them the edge.

Stats can be misleading, but it's on par with Griezmann's last season in La liga.

Couldn't agree more Stephen, moaning for the sake of moaning is what this page has come to. Give Lucas a chance for f#ck sake. Some people are never happy.

Agree2 Disagree2

25 Aug 2016 23:10:44
The names we were "chasing" and the names we have ended up with are a great dis appointment. The pair in the end were desperation buys, wenger has put his faith in these signings and his head is on the chopping block. Will it be chopped off or will he walk free to success. All winter to find out.

Agree1 Disagree2

25 Aug 2016 19:52:35
Reports saying Mustafi is done and Perez also nearly done. Not what I hoped for but £90 million window. at least we can concetrate on football.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

25 Aug 2016 20:13:21
Isn't Perez a midfielder?

Agree0 Disagree3

25 Aug 2016 20:33:11
Reply to me

No he's not but has a similar return to Giroud.

Agree0 Disagree2

25 Aug 2016 21:28:31
He looks like he can play anywhere across the front, is actually listed as a striker. Looks like he could possibly play right wing as he's left footed.

Sanchez left, Giroud up top and Perez right, clearly not prolific but if we got his goal return from that position it would be a better option than Walcott and the Ox at the moment.

He's not here so it's all pretty mute, that and we've been told he's average by someone whose no doubt never seen the guy play. No change there though.

Agree1 Disagree1

26 Aug 2016 01:36:12
Ozil for a 90 mil spend I expect a big challenge this year, I mean a proper chalenge to the wire.

Anyone seen Lucas Perez play? . It's on sky that we are about sign him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Aug 2016 12:31:27
Had never seen him play until I moved out to Spain last year and met a good friend who is a Deportivo fan. Watched a fair few games with him and was quite impressed with Lucas Perez, seems to have good technical ability and is a lot faster than Giroud! Only scored 17 goals last season so something to be said for that but never know what would happen if you popped him in a team with Ozil, Sanchez etc (Deportivo aren't the greatest side) . Would like to see him in an Arsenal shirt think it would be a good signing to be honest and believe that he could cope well in the PL.

Agree6 Disagree4

25 Aug 2016 13:45:35
Ok player but the same as every season he is not the answer for Arsenal, just a bargain basement signing.

Agree6 Disagree9

25 Aug 2016 14:43:54
So was Henry, not much fanfare in that signing either. The rest is history.

Agree5 Disagree2

25 Aug 2016 14:46:07
If we are going down the bargain bucket route (as usual) with Perez we should at least also try and get Julian Draxler (or someone of his ability) to make up for the lack of cash (and ambition? ) we are spending for our striker. Add van Dijk, or if we have to go for another bargain bucket but with premiership experience CD, Scott Dann (much better than Evans or Jones IMO) and I would be mildly contented.

Agree5 Disagree1

25 Aug 2016 15:45:56
You can keep on dreaming with all these big names its just not going to happen be realistic, perez looks like a decent shout.

Agree3 Disagree5

25 Aug 2016 16:04:01
Henry was 22 when he signed and had that "potential" which was worth the risk, Perez is nearly 28, in his best season he scored 17 goals in La Liga. He is not even close to the caliber of striker that you need to kick on. What is the point of disagreeing, out of blind loyalty clinging on to the hope that he might be another hidden gem?

Agree2 Disagree7

25 Aug 2016 17:01:43
From what I can gather (reading online and very, very. very limited time watching the odd La Liga game) Perez is ok, nothing to write home about.
One good season, did well for a average side, scored a few goals in big games but doesn't have a great career path either, a few small Spanish teams coupled with some time in Russia.
He's at that peak age though and considering he did bag a decent goals and assists tally, maybe he's a late bloomer, the Spanish Ian Wright (one can hope) .
He played most of his career thus far as an attacking mid, as far was I'm aware, and it's only the last few seasons he's played as a striker.
But, as I said, I don't really know much about this lad other than what I've read and a rare watched match

To me, he's worth a gamble if we're paying the relatively small fee's quoted (though latest report is we're asking to pay his fee in two instalments) but he's certainly not the top drawer player we've been craving, but may be the best of what's available in the range we're willing to pay.

This (apparent) move, however screams of 'we screwed up and are now manically grasping for a striker'

Agree3 Disagree0

25 Aug 2016 17:12:07
I wouldn't put too much credence to these stories we are being linked to every average player going. We won't sign dross. " We only sign players who will improve the team" if wenger does sign a duffer he will be toast with the fans.

Agree1 Disagree1

25 Aug 2016 17:28:58
Where was vardy before his one great season last season, not saying this guys going to be top drawer but for 17 mill if he can chip in on the wing maybe with an extra 10 -15 goals, that's money well spent in my book.

Agree3 Disagree2

25 Aug 2016 18:50:38
Some of you lot make me want to bang my head against the wall repeatedly until I start to think like you. Firstly he isn't a bad player at all. Granted not as good as the world class names we went for. Draxler hiquain morata Lacazette. We tried to get them but failed. Now we've gone for someone ed002 said we was considering long ago. Cut the guys some slack before writing him off before he has even signed.

Agree4 Disagree3

25 Aug 2016 18:47:59
TOT66 - None of the top strikers are available and Perez may score more goals in a side with players such as Ozil, Cazorla, etc, supplying chances. Wenger has unearthed some awesome bargain signings; Koscielny, Giroud, Bellerin, etc. All cheap signings for decent players.

Agree1 Disagree1

25 Aug 2016 19:49:52
Perez is pretty good and not bargain basement, he scored 19 goals last year and 11 assists for playing in an average side. He is also doesn't have any niggling injuries to worry about (at this stage) . Griezmann got 32 club goals and 7 assists last year, although he had the opportunity to score more in the Champions league. If it is based on performance opportunities and goals scored/ assisted they are only one statistic apart.

Overall I would prefer Griezmann, although he is out of our price range in terms of wages and transfer fee. I would be happy with Perez and Mustafi, also keeping Debuchy would be a good idea if possible.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed041's Note - he average.

25 Aug 2016 20:00:56
With all due respect RG, OG has been our only real striker and with our midfield, if you can't bag goals, you are better off doing something else.

"Top" strikers are available - you just have to pay the price. That's the point, we never pay them. Shoot back to the RvP saga - we wouldn't give him additional wages or show him the ambition he wanted so he went off to a club who did. End of.

25 Aug 2016 09:56:17
I see Mustafi is available for 26 mil. Now there'll be no excuse if we don't get it done.
It's in our hands now.

I know we have a lot of Ms to get rid of at the armoury but should that dictate our transfer strategy - Morsta, Mbembe, Mystafi, Moralas and now the Newcastle kid as well as Griezmann.

And you said we had no strategy!
