Ed01. You guys obviously get your info from somewhere so will all the top clubs know each other's targets there or there abouts?

{Ed001's Note - they will have an idea usually.}

I'd imagine agents play a big part in that. Someone goes in for that player I'm sure they'd soon tell others to get some more money.

I would also assume when clubs receive a bid for a player they are prepared to sell they aren't exactly shy about letting other possibly interested parties know so as to drive up the price.

The following players are injured or Ill; Mertesacker, Jenkinson, Gabriel, Welbeck, Wilshere and Cazorla. Also out for the opening fixtures are; Koscielny, Ozil, Sanchez, Ramsey and Giroud. Whilst Gnabry is away on Olympic duty. That's a total of 12 players and that assumes no more injuries in the remaining friendlies.
We are struggling to sign the CB and forward that we clearly need.
I wish for once that we went into a season with our squad complete and fit.

We apparently have the worst injury record in Europe

Why is that?

For all the buzz around Mahrez.

who don't get me wrong would be an excellent addition.

However. exactly what is the plan if Giroud gets injured?

Upfront Options would be:
Sanchez
Mahrez
Walcott
Chuba

Doesn't exactly work against your "stoke away" games.

Surely if your including Mahrez youve got to include Higuain Ibra and him too :-)

People forget Theo was playing really well in the first half of the season. He just needs his mojo back. He's a big part of why we smashed MU and Bayern, and beat City.

I agree, that was the point I was trying to make the other day. It isn't only the fees that are an issue, but also the wages. Podolski was the highest paid player before Ozil. I did like him, although why buy him to play as a winger after splashing a fortune on his salary? Also Walcott and Chamberlin's salaries are inflated for their ability. Hopefully Chamberlin will improve, but it is a big investment. Also gor me the hury is out on Welbeck. I watched nearly every game over the last 2 seasons and he has been good in about 5 games oy of the 49 he has played.

Yes some off them are eye opening, looking at as a list, I knew most but apart from the obvious burglars, coq sticks out for me ( sorry didn't mean it honestly ) as very hard done by.

How is kos not on more than jack flamini or arteta Walcott its a joke we better give him at least 100k to stay a week.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2016 19:07:44
The truth is the whole wage structure thing at arsenal is a joke and strangling the club. Rosicky, walcott, arteta, gibbs and wilshire are or were ripping this club. I can't work out how they have earned the right to earn the sort of money they are stealing. Not all their faults, the club is at fault with its judgement.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2016 23:23:24
i agree totally, why would diaby, debuchy, arteta, flamini, rosicky leave before they have to when no one else is going to pay them as much.
but what really sticks out to me the same as steve is we don't appear to offer pay raises in line with a players contribution and value to the team, keeping bellerin on 10k til the final year of his contract? he should of been getting at least the same as debuchy a couple years back, when it became clear he was better. kos should be one of the highest earners as one of the most important players.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2016 23:29:23
also letting the contracts, run their course, is a problem we have, i think walcott had us over a barell, 1 year left, if we don't renew his contract he will leave for nothing. but if we don't offer an improved deal he won't sign, knowing anyone getting him for free will offer a better deal or huge signing on fee. what do you do? cut your loses to get him off the wage bill? i'm sure a lot of fans would kick off if he walked for free the same as if he gets paid a new contract he hasn't earnt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good day gents. I am not here to bash anyone, but some of the decisions by club management are baffling. Look at the Arsenal wage bill below:

Alexis Sánchez 26 £130,000 (3 Years) 2018
Theo Walcott 26 £110,000 (4 Year) 2019
Olivier Giroud 28 £100,000 (3 Years) 2018
Danny Welbeck 24 £75,000 (4 Year) 2019

Please tell me how on earth Welbeck, Ramsey and Wilshere earn more than Kos?

We always boast of our good business model as a club, but I doubt it makes economic sense. That is why it is easy for star players to leave us and very difficult for us to ship off deadwood.

They're HG. Due to the extreme lack of top class English players, those with even an iota of talent, (or in some cases not even that) are overpaid and overpriced.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2016 21:42:10
Forwards will always tend to get paid more than defenders as they tend to be prize asset, but some of amounts are shameful Walcott 110k is a joke when he has not justified anywhere near that, we should have cashed in on him at the last contract negotiations for me.

You can't justifying paying Wilshire that much with his terrible injury record, such a poor return. I guess with English player squad rules in place you do pay a bit of premium for them which plays into agents hands.

EDS.
Do you know if we have been linked with any players in this transfer window?
If so any chance you can make a list of them and I will check in next month when you are finished writing the names out.
😂😂😂😂😂😂.

Believable0 Unbelievable10

{Ed001's Note - if I get started now, and don't sleep until it is done, I might just get it written out before the January window opens.....}

02 Aug 2016 06:43:52
You may aswell just carry on writing in Jsnuary then mate.
Why stop when you will be on a roll!
😂😂😂😂.

{Ed001's Note - good point.}

Guess what boys?
Jack Wilshires injured.
What are we going to do without him?
THIS TIME it's a Patella problem I think.
Don't know how he copes on his 90 grand a week sick pay!
👍.

Apparently he'll be on the Scandinavian tour, so shouldn't be too bad.
In reality, he's probably going to be out for 2-3 months and will return 'like a new signing'

Skysports' Tony Cascareno has said his close sources in France believe we will be going back in with an improved bid for Lacazette. Not sure how reliable he is? But its something to be hopeful about! If, and its a big if, we end up with Xhaka, Holding, the Jap, Mustafi and Lacazette or Mahrez I think that would be an incredible transfer window! let's all pray.

The problem is that the window is still open until the end of the month, which means that Lyon can hold on for a huge fee, knowing that we are desperate and they will be happy if the deal falls through and Lacazette stays at the club. We need a forward and a CB in this week.
