Hi All,

Random request but I am looking for an Arsenal based book to start reading on hols.

I know John cross from the mirror has done an biography on Arsene and Wrighty has just released a book on his life in football, but I'm not sure what to go for. I would prefer maybe a more recent one than historical.

Any recommendations would be really appreciated.

Thank you.

Bill I've got lots of football books including tony Adams and Paul merson, I know I shouldn't buy Arsenal players books but I can relate to them as i have a big drink problem like Adams did and my gear and gambling like merson.

2.) 15 Sep 2016 18:36:45
Now I understand why you post nonsense lol. Get the wenger quotes book! Brilliant.

3.) 15 Sep 2016 19:44:17
Thanks Raver, Mr. Arsenal's is a good shout. That'll do me for a couple days.

4.) 15 Sep 2016 20:10:33
I agree with raver ian wrights book or paul mersons especially is a great read.

5.) 15 Sep 2016 19:08:51
Raver. Usual Toot fan, driven to drink, drugs and gambling. Join the Gooners and see how it feels to support a great club.

6.) 15 Sep 2016 20:47:35
Raver don't damage you health with drink and drugs mate, after having a stroke makes you realise how valuable your body and mind is. You can give it up if you really want to.

7.) 15 Sep 2016 21:33:01
I couldn't find the Tony Adams or Wenger Quotes books on Kindle, went for Wrighty instead hope it's good!

Thanks for your input lads, appreciate it.

8.) 15 Sep 2016 22:03:11
You could always buy "Dags book of funny jokes".

You won't be able to put it down.

The toilet.

9.) 15 Sep 2016 22:37:16
Thanks wodbod I never knew you cared for me that much, you really know how to pull the ravers heartstrings. When I'm gone I hope you never forget me wodbod.

10.) 15 Sep 2016 23:22:36
If you wanted a short read I heard Spurs the glory year is good but won't be on digital because it's so old.

11.) 16 Sep 2016 11:50:20
Ah raver, the toot addicted to toot.

12.) 16 Sep 2016 11:09:24
Blimey, how can I forget you. It's all great banter.

Theo walcott plus anything under £15m for Raheem Sterling is a no brainier imo

BiLL91

1.) 30 Mar 2015 14:40:42
would cost more i think. if not then bargain

2.) 30 Mar 2015 14:43:16
We are not going to pay 160 000 per week to Sterling anytime soon, so not getting hopes up on this one.

3.) 30 Mar 2015 15:30:58
And nor should we Roster mate and anyone who is happy to pay him that deserves all they get one way or another from him.
As for Theo, take the deal on the table say thank you and set about repaying the club for letting you stay.

4.) 30 Mar 2015 15:59:25
sterling for me will end up on that wage and will become a top top player

5.) 30 Mar 2015 17:03:17
Agree derby, I really think sterling will be a top top player in a few years, and I think these immense wage demands the papers are claiming are actually false and he is trying to push a move to a team that will be playing in champions league and have a chance at actually winning the title. Whether that be England or abroad 120k per week should be enough to convince him, convincing Liverpool on the other hand that's the tough bit

6.) 30 Mar 2015 17:10:58
For me bill . I think it's both. More money he's worth same as Sturridge I feel and to join a club to challange year in year out. Not saying sturridge is worth that wage but its only fair on sterling. He's got to keep playing champions league football he's tll good not to be

7.) 30 Mar 2015 18:04:28
Still prefer Theo.

I think all the Sterling talk will give Theo a rocket up the pelican and he will play better.

8.) 30 Mar 2015 19:03:34
Pelican?

Hehe love it.

Went to my first champions league game last night, was sat at row 1 in block 2 west stand (getting absoloutely soaked). Being that close to the pitch really made me appreciate Mikel Arteta. I will throw my hands up straight away and admit since the day we signed him I've never really rated him but being basically pitch side yesterday I could literally hear him constantly shouting and ordering the team into shape. he was sitting back and I think he was vital for us before he came off.

I still think the substitutions is where we went wrong yesterday I know Arteta had a knock and had to come off but bringing on podolski and rosicky for last 10 mins when we were 3-2 I think was not the best move tactically for me, as much as I liked and rate the 2 that come off the bench I just don't think it was the right time and game to do that, in the first half before we scored they showed some promising glimpses of pace on the attack but at 3-0 up we became complacent to say the least.

one last thing the Anderlecht fans put the 50,000 or so Gooners to shame last night the loudest the fans where was when the north bank and clock end start signing towards eachother, one of the quitest matches I've ever been to.

On the subject of the 'poll of the day' I really think that a salary cap would work wonders in England.

I don't believe that putting a salary cap on a player will ever happen because there's no way any body should dictate a persons earnings.

I had an idea and i'm not taking full credit as i'm sure somebody else has thought of it because it is pretty obvious, I think that there should be a cap on teams wages as a whole say every team in the BPL should have a set amount of wages per week for players.

so if you would like to pay a 28 year old CF who has a bad record of long term injuries 350k p/w ;) that's your choice entirely I understand there will be so many ifs and buts and loopholes but i'm just thinking out loud more than anything?

so considering the transfer window is shut, I would like to hear my fellow gooners and possibly any Eds opinions.

Thanks in advance

1.) BILL

Its been an improvement on our squad, whether or not its enough I doubt it
But I wouldn't want arsenal to pay those figures, footballs gone silly
stinks of a desperation

2.) I like your thinking Bill. Put caps for the teams rather than the players. But am sure it would never work. The big teams would take the Premier league to labour court me thinks

I know I am acting spoilt but I really think that 3 signings towards the end of the window really would take us into that new era that ivan was talking about, for me it would be :

Podolski or cazorla - Reus
Arteta - Khedira or carvalho
Verm - Nastatic

really think these 3 additions to our squad would have us battling for all comps even when our inevitable injuries occur.

Thoughts? and don't jut shoot me down please :)

BiLL91

1.) In a dream world I completely agree with all three signings. 100%.

As we are all Arsenal fans, we can but dream.

I can only see two out of three positions being signed. As for who, only Arsene knows!

2.) 07 Aug 2014 13:25:54
Yeah all those 3 would be amazing and although might cost a bit (£50mil net maybe?) would make us competitive now, and important future proof our squad for 5 years. We wouldn't need to spend big again for a few years atleast.

3.) Shoot you down bill? No chance, instead I would rip your arms off for those 3!!

4.) Great replies, thanks for that. EG the shoot me down bit was for the expected comments calling me deluded but wengers cheque book is definitely changing peoples minds.

on another note just read that Manchester United are offering vermalen 100k a week!

never thought a team like utd would offer one of our subs that type of money just another example of how far we have come as a club now our financial restraints have been cut loose.

Going to raise a few eye brows here and say sterling simply because he's been doing it in the prem rather than ligue1 the French league is stronger now than it was in 2011. Then the argument for hazard would be he didn't have the quality of players with him then I.e Suarez Sturridge, tough one but sterling for me
