Ed's, can you give us any transfer light at the end of this dismal month?
Even if it's Yan 'Villa and Solomon Kalou!
The management have so far gone a great job shipping players out, now just got to work on getting the right ones in.
Do any of the Ed's know of we were actually in for Vlachovic? If so can you answer the following?
1/ Why did we not do our due diligence and establish that the player had less than zero interest in playing for us before trying?
2/ Where the heck is/ was the money coming from to buy him?
Or was it all just tabloid nonsense?

Hey Ed, you said Arsenal could look for a January solution for Isak. Any chance sociedad would be open to a loan + option/ obligation move or will they not compromise on the price and you only get him if you pay his full release clause.
since auba is very likely to leave, arsenal have once again put themselves in a dilemma and they are almost forced to make a deal for a striker. very difficult to make a rational deal in winter.
{Ed002's Note - RS are not looking to sell Isak for anything less than his €70M buy out clause - and that needs to be made in a single payment - and so a loan would not be an option. Borussia Dortmundwould get a discount on that price. There is plenty of interest in him and Real Sociedad do have financial issues so something could happen.}

Ive just read that they aren't able to register any permanent transfers. Meaning Saliba and Guendouzi will return to arsenal at the end of the season. Wouldn't mind seeing either of them back to be honest. Not slating what Ed002 is saying but just repeating what I've just read.

Ed's. Forgive my ignorance about the dark arts if transfers, but why so much noise around Vlahovic?
If the club want him and he's mugging us off it's embarrassing. Why let it drag on and not come out and say he's not a player we're looking at?
If we aren't looking at him why not come out and say so if his agent is mugging us off to drum up interest?
None of this fits with Arteta's stance on not having to convince people to come/ stay.
Has there been a change? I see that the odds of him signing have dropped considerably over the last couple of days.
Seems to me that if we are trying for him we're doing so as we will have very little chance in the summer because he'll be going to whoever misses out on Halaand and Mmmmmbop and can offer decent CL.

Is there more to this Auba business than is being reported? Think I read on here that he was caught out meeting with reps from another club? Any truth in that?
All this exclusion stuff seems pretty draconian given that he's had the armband taken too.

There’s got to be more to it than being late a few times. I remember reading that they’d give him the wrong times for training at Dortmund just so he’d more or less be there when he was supposed to.
Not training with the first team ahead of Norwich really does seem like they’re just keeping him fit with a view to selling him. Maybe a deal is already done? Thanks for that Ed!

Such a shame it’s got to this point with Auba because he’s a good player and has been great for arsenal prior to contract extension. He made such a ridiculous social media show when signing that lux high contract that he cursed himself. I dunno who he thought he was doing that. It was one of the most embarrassing moments as an Arsenal fan.

There's rumors floating around that Jose wants Xhaka. Do you think Arsenal would let him go? It's all well and good people wanting him, but if the club don't want to sell.
There's also stuff about Saliba going. What is it about him that the club don't like - after spending 27 million, shipping him out on loan and that loan giving him a platform to showcase his obvious talent?

Would be madness to sell Xhaka. He's been our best misfielder this season and selling him in the hopes that a newly bought midfielder would be better than him is too risky.
Regarding Saliba I feel he just doesn't want to be back at Arsenal with his comments regarding Guenduzi etc. Let's see how it develops. Maybe if he's back and given a chance and playing regularly, he might change his mind. Also Arteta clearly said he's our player and he will be back this season which is a positive in this regard.

Hope he goes, it's one thing being our best Midfielder, but that still doesn't make him good enough for where we need to be. I'm happy to recoup some money for him and try something else.
He's a good player and he will probably excell in a different team or league, but it's never really worked out for him here.
I'm sick to death of having half arsed clear outs every year, this needs to be cut throat and ruthless.

Fair enough, but we don't really want to be bedding in seven or eight first-choice players in one go. By all means, clear out those that offer little, or fill up the squad with little in the way of prospect or promise, but Xhaka is a useful player who can step in when necessary and is versatile. There are many more heading up the queue before you get to Xhaka.
Do bear in mind as well, that our lack of European football makes us somewhat less attractive, so if you are thinking of recruiting 5-8 world-class players with only a promise of success in the near future, think again.
The job Mikel has is a long-term one, much bigger one or even two transfer windows will fix.
