Hi Ed,

Can you comment on Arsenal's reported interest in Melo or Rafihna?

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what reports you have found but I would doubt Arsenal are in a postion to buy Arthur - but Rafinha might be available for a small fee, or even nothing. He is available and Barcelona have someone offering him around but nobody will be looking to pay any money for him - the goals of old have dried up this season and he missed the best part of the previous three seasons with injury.}

We should be in line with a £50m offer then.
Thanks Ed.

We certainly do not need another injury prone player with a top end salary at the club. It's easier said than done but I would like to see Mkhi used in a deal for Kluivert so him and Saka can play on the left. If Auba or Laca go then Martinelli is 2nd fiddle to them through the middle and he can also play of the right as a backup to Pepe. We also have Nketiah as a number 9 as well. Use any funds we accrue from player sales to invest in a central midfielder and with the likes of Auba, Laca, Torreira, maybe Xhaka and even a couple of CBs lined up or looking for potential exits, that may not be too difficult to achieve. Wishful thinking but a quality CM is definitely needed.

Did we really pay 8m for Luiz and put him on 5m wages for a 12m deal? For a club little money we really are stupid with our money ( Pepe for one) . At least he's gone if that's the case.

Hello Eds,
Are Arsenal expecting Lacazette to leave this summer? Sky have stated that we are monitoring Moussa Dembele at Lyon with Inter interested in Lacazette, although he isn't keen on a moce to Italy himself.
Is there much truth in this? I know you've previously stated that he's more settled now but obvisouly we need to sell to fund further transfers.
Many thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Alexandre Lacazette (S) wanted a new start elsewhere but seemed to have settled before the season was halted. Atletico Madrid are keen but he is very much a Plan B for them. Inter made a general equiry but he is way down their list as they look for two strikers. I suspect he will stay.}

Thanks Ed. With Auba looking more likely to leave I would rather us keep him 👍🏻 with a stronger central midfield he won't need to come so deep. That's if we get a stronger medfield 😂.

Ed did it really cost arsenal a huge amount of money to bring David Luiz to arsenal? Like including all the agent fees etc? Was it a stupid signing?

{Ed002's Note - Yes. Raul Sanllehi oversaw the purchases of David Luiz and Nicolas Pepe for outrageous sums. We have been through all of this.}

Thanks Ed. I knew about Pepe being stupid not Luiz. That’s scandalous mate come on!

Ed I’ve got a question. I’m not sure who does the negotiations at arsenal but I think it’s Raul Sanellhi. Before he came to arsenal it was said he’s respected and great at his job. Is this all really true?

{Ed002's Note - No you misunderstand.}

Hello Eds,
Sky are reporting that Coutinho has been offered to Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea. Is this something that Arsenal are interested in looking at further?
Many thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Philippe Coutinho (AM/LW) after missing out on Bruno Fernandes and Hakim Ziyech Spurs have enquired after Coutinho and been told that a loan fee would €30M for a season with an option to buy at €50M at the end of the season with any loaning club paying half his wages. I would expect any interested side to look for a significant reduction in such a deal. The player is being offered around PL sides. Barcelona will have to keep him if no takers are found although with a small amount of money owed to Liverpool still there may be room for them to negotiate - but I don't expect them to be interested. Leicester might offer a solution to get him off the books - but again there would be a need for some negotiation. Right now Barcelona will likely cut their losses and get the best deal they can as soon as they can - his representative may look to some sort of creative deal with an English side (such as Arsenal) - but that could cause a delay but the overall package might need to be something like a loan at a low fee, the player taking a cut on his €215k pw week wages, with Barcelona contributing nothing, and an obligation to buy at a lower figure at the end of next season.}

Hi Ed, is it true David Luiz is set to leave because we aren’t going to activate a clause in his contract activates an additional year?

{Ed002's Note - It is too early to say what will happen.}

Thanks Ed, when I take into account the numerous centre backs arsenal have, isn’t the sensible option to let him go?

{Ed002's Note - I would expect others to go first.}

Good Morning Eds,
I hope you are all safe and well?
Numerous reports emerging about Mkhitaryan and a potential player plus cash offer for Justin Kluivert. Is this merely paper talk or is he a player that we are interested in?
Many thanks.

{Ed002's Note - This would be the work of Mino if true - and might spell the end for Saka.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan (AM) Arsenal will sell to Roma but value him at three times the rejected €10M offer.

Justin Kluivert (LW/RW) discussions on going with Fiorentina - available for sale or exchange and his agent is keen to move him on from Roma.}

Thanks Ed, much appreciated. x3 as much. Oh dear. I would rather keep Saka anyway than persure Kluivert.

I hope a move for Kocku doesn't spell disaster for Smith-Rowe either? An Ozil replacement I agree with but an addition just pushes him out of the club too.

I agree with you Glenn, but feel confident that if Smith-Rowe can make it, Arteta will make that happen. Look what he's done with Nketiah.
Our manager seems to be developing a younger side, relying on Freddie and the academy and hopefully creating a space where young players want to be. If only "management" could get out of the way.

Hey Ed. Reports suggesting Barcelona are willing to listen to offers of 37 mil for Dembele. Is he someone arsenal could look at if laca and Aubamayang are sold/ offloaded? Seeing as we’ve been linked to Lemar (winger)

{Ed002's Note - He plays in the same position as Pepe who fouled up the finances last season. I cannot see why Arsenal would be interested or get the money without selling. Lemar would be more useful and perhaps a trade for Lacazette may be possible.}

24 May 2020 21:44:26
Personally I’m not sure a winger is a priority and I’m only saying that because of the Lemar link. Getting Dembele at that proce will be a steal for one club because he’s got a lot of ability tho I think he’s quite injury prone. And regarding money, I’m assuming we’ll see quite a lot sold this summer. Money teams will have to spend will be the kind of figures we’d be selling players like sokratis, eleny and co anyway. Bigger teams unless they need to won't be dropping prices of their players so it’s these players that will be in demand. Thinking out loud.

Hi Ed,

I know you have just posted on May 16, saying Mari will stay. Does this mean that the media talk of Tah, Elvedi, Disasi, is just talk, or will we be looking to add another player at CB?

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal are overrun with CBs already. Saliba and Mari are two more joining this summer.}

Hello eds, hope you're all well and safe! Just wanted to know your opinions on Kokcu. Havent really seen or heard much about him so would be great to hear how you rate him.
Also, does it still stand that we will only go after him if we shift ozil or will we regardless

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal will look to buy him and will continue to try and find a way to move Oezil on. The player is well thought of in the Netherlands and there is interest from Spain.}

Ed when you have the time would we have a list of ins and outs at arsenal this season (only if there are any updates or changes) . Thank you.

{Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed.}

Ed knowing that you're very knowledgable on arsenals financial situation and players we are looking at, what in your opinion on how arsenal should approach this summer in transfers?

Also do you know what is happening with Torreira in Maitlan-Niles in terms of transfers?

{Ed002's Note - The issue with the finances is well known - but Arsenal need a left back and will likely need a striker. Layvin Kurzawa (LWB) and Odsonne Edouard (S) look reasonble options - plus Mari and perhaps Soares.

What happens with Maitland-Niles may be dependent on whether Arsenal take up their option on Cedric Soares - it would be a kick in the gonads for the kid and he may have to think about other options. Lucas Torreira (DM/CM) has told the club he wants to leave and his agent is already working on trying to find interest in Italy.}

16 May 2020 14:14:30
Thanks Ed. Maybe things have changed but didn’t you think that Kurzawa was a bad option before? I think it’s bad option knowing that we have Tierney, Kolasinac and Saka.

{Ed002's Note - Perhaps they will all leave?}

16 May 2020 14:37:20
Should be keeping Saka and Tierney in my opinion. Do you know if the Leicester links are true for Tierney? Would be weird considering he hasn’t even played a season.

{Ed002's Note - If they lose Chilwell he is one of the LBs of interest. Allow him to kickstart his career. Saka is not a LB really.}

Arteta spoke really highly of tieny in a recent interview praising his attitude and hard work ethic and if I remember rightly went on say he's one of the best he’s trained. I guess ED, regarding transfers, until we know who’s leaving, aubamayang, Sako, ozil, sokratis we can't really plan our moves. Patrey is key is Torreira is off.

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal's problem is money and mismanagement of the business.}

17 May 2020 12:44:54
Arsenal want a left back? Are we planning to field a team of 11 left backs?
That is crazy stuff.

Ed, you constantly say how badly the club's business is carried out - can't argue with you there based on what's happened! However, do you not see an improvement with the younger Kroenke and the new management team in place? It seems that when coupled with Arteta as manager we can have a serious expectation of improvement?

{Ed002's Note - No, there are a mass of other individuals in the mix as well.}

 1 0

20 May 2020 07:48:37
Ed002 is there nobody with enough influence who can sort out the mess at the club? Seems counter-productive to run a club/ business this way.

{Ed002's Note - Head of Football Raul Sanllehi decided it was a shambles of a set up and walked out - Steve Rowley had previously done the same for the same reason and indeed Sven Mislintat. The club are not addressing it.}

20 May 2020 19:55:24
I didn't realise Raul Sanllehi had quit Ed002! I guess the person/ people pulling the strings are either too stuck in their ways/ too uninterested/ too complacent or just don't love Arsenal 😔.

{Ed002's Note - Sorry - not RS.}
