With all those spuds on the English team, it's no surprise that England were winning all the way to the end, before bottling it spectacularly.

If by any chance we do go for Kante and sign him who starts for us i'd go for the two new boys, even tho Iam Welsh I think Ramsey is crap slows play down to much and gets dizzy All the time the way he constantly spins around when he's got the ball.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

12 Jun 2016 01:14:56
I actually wouldn't be surprised if he went to Barcelona if he has a decent Euros. He has said that he'd be keen to go there and Barcelona have shown interest apparently. Although i only read that in the papers so i can't be sure. We may need Sanogo to confirm if we can discuss this rumour.

Right if I was given the funds and these players were available here's who I would purchase and we would win the league.

Rodriguez
Myhitaryan
Aubameyang.

Yep, 1 short of a 5 a side team and 7 short of a normal team.

We have PL medals though Raver, they're these things you get when you finish top of the league. But I guess if you've got zero chance of winning one of those, you'd have to make do celebrating the fact that some of your players made it into a team that didn't make it out of the group stage at the Brazil WC. Bragging about having a bunch of players make an England team that always disappoints suits a spud fan perfectly.

Welsh Red Devil,

Is Vardy suited to Arsenal?

In my opinion, not sure.

Leicester play an entirely different game to us, and they do it brilliantly.

They soak up pressure and than get the ball up to Vardy, who uses his pace to great effect.

We tend to have plenty of possession, plenty of pass and move, which can be detrimental as it gives team's more time to re-organise.

Yes, I think he would suit us, but would be more suitable to the Arsenal 'Invincibles' team that played with more pace.

He will offer us something different to Giroud by using the wing's more and stretching the opposition, thus creating more space for Sanchez, Ozil, Ramsey etc.

People say Vardy will have to change to suit Arsenal's play, but I think it will be more a case of Arsenal changing to suit Vardy.

Just my opinion. I'm sure other's will agree/ disagree.

2 word Dags, Gary Birtles. Brady's story is great but I worry for him in a top team where expectations are so high. Even if you sign him I hope he does well but I'm not convinced he is the real deal.

If he can stay fit for the for all the games I'm tipping Aaron Ramsey to be a very big hit at Euro 2016 and make the team of the tournament when it's all done and dusted in July.
Just got a feeling he's going to remind us and convince everyone watching just how good he can be.

Xhaka for 30 mil may turn out ok but to not pile into kante for 20 seems strange. This guy is class on legs and would have been a perfect fitifor us. I suppose now after these euros one of the top teams will get him and we will miss out again. For me it all seems a bit desperate this window for us so far. Wenger singing kantes praise and buying xhaka for more money is just not right. i'm still hoping we get him but unless we have a foot in the door, we will get trampled in rush.

Believable3 Unbelievable5

11 Jun 2016 09:51:06
If Kante was doable we'd have done it mate and if it's still doable we will still do it, who wouldn't.
The competition for him will be great so we've righly gone early on Xhaka but I'm sure if Leicester and Kante were willing we would gladly make both Elneny and Le coq available plus cash to get him here.
Our chances are slim but so are everyone else's because despite the way he makes it appear there actually is only one of him so lots of clubs are going to be disappointed this summer when he goes else where.
I'm pleased we have taken a more realistic approach this summer as our strategy of chasing players who either don't want to move or are in very high demand by other big clubs hasn't done us much good.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Jun 2016 11:32:45
I hate when people have a go and try to work out everything that's gone on behind the scenes. Why do you assume that we haven't tried for Kante? Maybe he's privately said something to indicate he won't be moving. It isn't Fifa, you can't just pick any name and assume that they all want to come to Arsenal and if the move hasn't happened it must be because Wenger doesn't want him. Sir Alex Ferguson said Kante was player of the season, his class is widely recognised and there will be plenty of clubs wanting him if he does leave Leicester I'm sure.

I, for one, am happy that Wenger has done some early business for a change and addressed a position that needs addressing, I have nonidea how you can say it's 'not right' cheer up mate go for a walk, read a noce book pr aomething. Who'd be a manager, you really are damned if you do and damned if you don't- even with the less cynical fans than Steve.

Agree3 Disagree0

11 Jun 2016 11:54:08
Steve,

Mate we have all gotten frustrated with Wenger but some of the stuff you post is really ridiculous, don't take offence, but it is mate.

You have told us you post fact which includes the fact you think we will never win the title with Wenger so it clearly makes no difference who we sign because until he leaves, according to you, there is nothing to get exited or interested in.

Just enjoy the summer mate and the fact he will be leaving in 2017 then clearly the next year will be our year. ;-)

Agree2 Disagree0

11 Jun 2016 12:42:57
Good point well made stoner. Some people say some silly things.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jun 2016 13:06:59
The problem is that people read what's going on in the rumour mill and swear blind they don't believe it then in the next breath saying why didn't we do this or why have we passed up on that and then quoting prices for players like they have been intimately involved in such going ons and before they even blink they have sub consciously been utterly brainwashed by the media and then get all bent out of shape when things that were never on don't materialise. Who knows what's going on and we should only start to form opinions on what actually happens not some dream land hypothesis.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jun 2016 13:09:06
I think you're all right! :-)
It is strange to not go for kante, but we don't know we haven't, or won't, and who else has, what kantes said etc. Also, I'm still a fairly deluded iawt-er. If it was possible and we didn't/ haven't, could be that there was no guarantee of an early signing so would leave us too exposed this window without a definite cdm. I like coq and elneny, but aw may have been plugging the holes, and could let one of them go or a part exchange plus cash deal. Or aw is doing what so many people have been screaming for and getting someone not just technically good on xhaka but also a bit of fire.

Im more than happy with xhaka coq elneny. Kante for elneny or cow would be great, although not showing them the loyalty we demand from them and they've been solid, and won't be first choice. Maybe better sticking with them as backups so we can play jack and Aaron more?

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jun 2016 13:45:40
Steve,

Further to my initial reply can you tell me what has suddenly become so bad about Coquelin, he was flavour of the season last season and what has Kante done that has been head and shoulders above that, they both had great stats and did what a DM says on the tin, injury hampered him this season after an equally good start next to Coquelin. We cannot simply buy whoever is the seasons flavour of the year otherwise we'd have Kante, Payet, Vardy, Mahrez, Rashford etc.

As TPG sad no manager can just snap up his preferred choice or choices of these players.

With Coquelin and Cazorla at the base of our midfield, who complemented each other perfectly, we played some great football and I genuinely believe the outcome this season would have been different if they'd stayed together. Cazorla linked up with Ozil perfectly.

But again, let's blame Wengers training methods for our injuries, thus Van Gaal was responsible for Uniteds early season injury woes as was Klopp for the unwanted injuries at Liverpool. It's a physical sport and you and I know nothing about the training methods at any club let alone Arsenal.

You've talked about Wengers tactics, or lack there of, what was the plan when we beat City 2-0, what was the plan when we beat Bayern 2-0, what was the plan when we beat Leicester twice this season, what was the plan when we beat Olympiakos 3-0 or the plan when we beat United 3-0. Were they all plan A?

Do you truly believe Wenger told the players to go out against United 2nd time around and say, yes just pass it around a bit, let them run all over you and make you look inept and Theo I'm giving you a big chance here so play like a complete muppet and that would be fantastic. Didn't Sanchez say the players needed to stop thinking they were 1-0 up before the game kicked off.

What variety of plan did Ranieri use and especially against us, it was funny to hear pundits say that Simeone had no plan b in his quest to beat Real in the final of the Champions League. How did Klopp switch it up against Sevilla.

Wenger is by no means perfect but you really come across as clouded by your utter dislike almost disdain towards him.

Like I said mate I don't wish any offence so please don't take any, it's my opinion and not fact. :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - for starters, Kante is not a DM. For second the injuries are down to training, at Arsenal and Man Utd it was an ongoing issue, at Liverpool it was down to the change from the half arsed efforts under Rodgers to the full blooded methods of Klopp. To suggest otherwise shows a lack of understanding of the physical requirements of the sport. Wenger, like LVG and Bodgers, follow the moronic red zone philosophy. When a player is tired they are given a rest, rather than pushed harder, in training, so that injuries result as they are not being pushed to improve their physical abilities.}

11 Jun 2016 14:25:36
Stoner I agree Le Coq isn't for some strange reason flavour of the season and I personally rate him way above Elneny and in our top 7 players currently at Arsenal but I'd drive both to Leicester myself if it meant I brought Kante back for Arsenal.
Kante to me was by far the best player in the premier league season and will be at Barcelona or Real if not PSG next season if he moves, maybe we could bid for one of his many lookalikes who so obviously sneak the pitch during game's, its the only way you can explain how Kante is everywhere at once in every game.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jun 2016 14:45:33
Ed01 I don't know you and I am never rude to you, I clearly stated that I don't know what training methods Arsenal use and clearly that it is a physical sport, but don't let that stop you being a smart arse instead of pointing something out politely. Manners cost nothing.

It was also clearly a mistake on my part for describing Kante as a defensive mid, maybe I should have referred to him as a lean mean tackling and ball retrieving machine. Both players doing the same job under a different guise maybe.

Like I said, manners cost nothing, I'm happy to be corrected but please do it the right way or not at all. I am not offended but it's just uncalled for. Thanks.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - perhaps you should show some manners occasionally then. You constantly want to tell people things but then admit you are ignorant, so don't whine when your ignorance is pointed out. You have been banned in the past by myself for being an arsehole, so do not try and expect to be treated with kid gloves now just because you are too high to remember who I am.}

11 Jun 2016 16:13:24
Everyone on our page seems to be crazy for Kante as well. Given the price being quoted there would be a very long queue so either he is staying, or knows where he is going.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jun 2016 16:35:24
Ed, I should probably keep my mouth closed but don't the Eds get frustrated by abuse eg Ed02. Why is it okay to give posters stick. I got a little sensitive based on comments from Eds telling me I knew nothing about finance which is completely incorrect and I stayed away from the site for a month as I had better things to do.
Surely you should set the tone? Sorry for being a little direct.
With that said, I agree that Kante is not a defensively minded midfielder and I prefer the signing of Granit. I would have preferred Kante to Elneny but that's life and timing. Now we have him and he shows the spirit and engine we need - I am happy.
Signing Kante would not make a lot of sense as we will struggle to accommodate Rambo, Coq, Santi, Jack etc.
Poor Wenget. Can't do anything right. Now he is desparate because he moves quick or tries to sign a plan B. We are the toughest set of fans to please.
We just signed one of the missing pieces of the jigsaw - let's be happy. He clearly loves a good tackle and adds the grit we need. We are clearly chasing a forward and defender - let's be happy and celebrate being Gooners as we have a great club with great history - our manager is hopefully ensuring we have a great short and longterm future.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Stoner is a repeat offender for posting abusive nasty messages whenever anyone disagrees with him, as his last reply to me, which I deleted, would have shown. I am not going to waste my time being all nicey nicey to someone who has shown they do not deserve it. Respect is earnt.}

11 Jun 2016 16:46:32
Ed, respect is lost not earned. 😀.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - if you say so.}

11 Jun 2016 17:30:28
I'm really breaking a rule that I have tried to keep for months now! And that rule is by not getting involved in any poster to ed argro. But posters need to understand this as I have had to and that's when someone has had one of these goings on no one sees the posts that don't get posted and also you have to remember eds can giveth and taketh away so it's pointless to chip back it's a one way street. You get all the ed02 stuff and now you have fans arse licking edo2 and its vulgar and adults need to have a long hard look at themselves when they resort to blowing smoke up anyone's bum hole. Me personally can't be doing with ed02 so I just don't get involved. No point in getting all shitty about it. The code of conduct on these sites are simple. If you don't like it go elsewhere . I like it on here so after having to change my user name a few times I decided to tow the line.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jun 2016 18:31:13

It doesn't make sense putting all the eggs in the Vardy basket. Especially because we seem very proactive this window. We seemed to move on from Morata very quickly but are stuck waiting for the other 20% of Vardy. There's plenty of quality options out there, why haven't we moved on to Aubameyang, Lacazette, Lukaku, Batsuyshi, Icardi or Alcacer? Logic would dictate that the reason we haven't moved on from Vardy is because there's no need to as the deal is done.

The strange thing about this summer is even the tea lady don't know what is going on and my mate who's got a mate who once met Lee Dixon in Dixon's showrooms hasn't heard a word from Lee on Vardy so can offer nothing either :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jun 2016 09:31:19
Terribly sorry to upset you so, Sonogo. For some reason i thought the best place to banter about Arsenal rumours would be an Arsenal rumours banter page. My mistake.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jun 2016 10:04:49
It is Outback mate but I just think the Benzema non event all last summer has left people doubtful of everything that's spun out by the media, if the Eds say it's happening or in my experience the BBC page reports something (not gossip round up of all the tabloids collum) its usually happening.
I base this on not once did the Eds or the BBC say we were in talks with or giving a medical to Benzema or Higuain unlike all the other supposed In The Know fantasy football feeders.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jun 2016 11:02:19
Fair point G62. If you actually read what I posted, all i was actually suggesting is that maybe there's no tabloid rumour bonfire burning because there's no fuel, because the Vardy deal is actually done. I have zero knowledge, just applying logic. I listed all those names because we'd be linked to all of them if the rags had a chance. The fact that we're not suggests a deal is done. I'm only speculating, but i figured the Arsenal banter page was the best place to do it. I tried at the dinner table and now my wife isn't talking to me.

Agree0 Disagree0

I might try that Outback mate because mine won't shut up:-)
Your theory is as good as anyones mate and maybe your right it is done and dusted, time will tell mate.
I'm just chuffed we're actually trying this summer, of course I want our efforts to reap rewards but it does make a nice change to know Arsene and the club actually accept we have weaknesses and are doing something to address them this time round.
I'm much more optimistic about next season than I was when last season ended.

Perfect I'm sure your right mate as I remember reading something similar at the time and it was most probably on the BBC page but in the main they do tend to report facts rather than fiction on their football page atleast, although I'm totally sceptical of all the BBC and all other media outlets reports of world affairs that unfortunately are proven to be much much less than reliable sources of knowledge and more of propaganda machine.
The press we read is highly fictional the TV we watch much less than honest and the politicians we elect make the othrs look good but we on this page are luckier than most as we have Malaga who by media standards is pretty much reliable on all things :-)

I wasn't upset outback! And there is a rumour page and a banter page but I thought it was discussion on this particular post. Banter implies a certain amount of humour and although that in itself is subjective I didn't even catch a glimmer of humour in your post. And I'm 99% sure of that 👍🏿.

99% is a bit high Sanogo mate:-)

Well thank you so much for taking on the under appreciated role of banter police Sonogo. I'm sure this page is much better with you on here dictating what is and what isn't banter. And with your impressive comedy skills, I'm on here cracking up, at least 80% of the time.

Now that's what I call banter. With a bit of gentle poking we eventually got there mate. Welcome to the club 👍🏿.

It seems very strange, we were all in for Morata before quickly moving to Vardy after balking at the asking price apparently. Wenger seems fine with paying 30 or 40m for a midfielder, but hell bent on getting a bargain striker. We lost out on Higuain because of a few million, He doesn't hesitate for 42m on Ozil, but 50m for Sanchez was too much?

How do you know that we were in for morata.

I know no more than you, actually, that's not entirely true. I understand that this is a site for talking Arsenal rumours and banter and it seems you don't.

Fair play Outback your 100% right there everyone is entitled to share what they want and if people don't agree with it they aren't forced to comment on a post, I say everyone is 100% entitled obviously not in Dags case who is slightly less entitled than most :-)

G62, Dags is 80% entitled.

Our striker situation is taking a potential Charlie Austin path again don't you think?

Wouldn't be surprised if it ended up on a chuba akpom path.

I reckon 8 out of ten people would agree with that Outback mate, I'm not sure what that equates to in % perhaps Dags can tell us? :-)

Don't deflect from my comment in not having a go. You posted about been in for morata and I simply asked how you knew we were in for him. Just because you can't answer the question there's no need to get funny about it.

And g62 . I never said he wasn't entitled to post! Where did that come from? Also I never said whether I agree or disagree . I asked how he knew we were in for morata. How is that offensive or challenging? Why do people quite happily let things grow arms and legs. Is it because most people are happy in a dream world and to be asked a simple question is now offensive. Or is it because people feel embarrassed when they can't answer a question on something they were professing to know.

Well Sanogo, as i actually said. I knew as much as you regarding being "in" for anyone. As you've probably managed to figure out, i read about our supposed interest on here and in other football rumours sites. If you actually managed to read my original post, you'll find i was commenting on the fact that we are able to find mids for 30 - 40m but are seem unable to sign a forward. To be fair though, i only know we paid 42m for Ozil due to reading about it, so i can't say for sure, we might have got him for a pack of crisps and half a mars bar.

Welsh, I'm a fan of Olly's too - his teamplay and he can have a great touch and finish too, but G62 is right. Giroud did really well with some stray passes, but there were quite a few that should've been scored or at least laid off to someone else. If he'd had less chances created. When we are playing teams with 11 men behind the ball, we might have half as many as that in a game. Its fine as long as we have other strikers (and tactics) .

He's got to stop his flapping tantrums too - such a strong guy and undermines his presence. That said, i'm more than happy with him at afc. Just bantering :)

I'm happy with him at Arsenal too Jim just not as our main goal option and think last night showed yet again why not.
