See we are 23rd richest club in the world

Shocking how we struggle to compete financially.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Jul 2016 22:26:00
We only struggle to compete with 22 other clubs.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Jul 2016 09:16:41
That's 23rd in world of sports
And its not the richest its the most valuable
We're consistently top 4/ 5 sharing with Muinch and behind Madrid Barcelona United.
At least that's what Forbes and Fortune and Deloite say.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 21:53:19
So Arsenal have overtaken Chelsea in the Forbes list, behind man unt and man city. I guess those Chelsea "fans" have jumped ship to man city.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Jul 2016 20:55:58
What about Rugani? Rumours that we have bid for him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Jul 2016 16:54:34
ED001 I'm getting slightly worried can you actually see us making anymore signings, as everyone we are linked too is all nonsense.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it is beginning to look like Wenger has given up on trying to strengthen the first team again, since Vardy turned down a move. Quite odd that he didn't even have any options set up ready in case it failed, as the Japanese lad would have been bought anyway. I have to say, it looks unlikely that it will be any more than a few unknowns for the U21s and academy now. Though a lot can change as moves take place elsewhere, making players available that are not currently. Clearly there is money there to spend if the right player comes on the market.}

13 Jul 2016 17:24:21
So we go into the new season with one recognised striker who won't even start the season, what a stingy club we now have,! itll come back and bite him on the a**s!

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 17:27:25
I've stuck by Wenger every window. If this is true fire away lads it's unacceptable. However a can kind of understand no CF. just seem hard to come by. No CB is outrageous.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 17:45:27
Lol D16

Why are you surprised? This is typical Arsenal, after the 30 mill was spent that was it for me, the only way we will buy anyone else is to fund it with the sale of players, currently, Theo and Ox look like staying.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 18:26:56
Lmfao

If it wasn't wengers last season, I would be shouting wenger out

I for one will be glad to see the back of him.

Agree3 Disagree1

13 Jul 2016 18:42:15
So if that's the case wenger obviously thinks that the reason we didn't win or even compete last year was because we were missing xhaka! If he is that lack lustre and wants to go out in a whimper in his last season then that's sad. Me for one thinks that a few more quality first team players will come in the next few weeks or so! Wether it's the world beating striker we all crave is another thing altogether.

Agree0 Disagree2

13 Jul 2016 18:43:25
If we really are done in the market its going to be a very long miserable season for everyone and a poor way to end a 20 year relationship and holding on to both Mesut and Sanchez will be very very difficult and I for one wouldn't blame them if they left, at 27 both are in their prime and to good to spend thier best years chasing 4th and champions league last 16.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 18:49:00
Maybe he plans to use Theo of Alexis up front. Not saying I'm all for that but trying to get my head around it. And yes tbh I am still surprised after all these years. But still seriously who would you guys buy up front who's available and realistic? I wouldn't want him spending for the sake of it. I thought a CB was a must.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 19:28:11
I've thought that 16

He has the option of Giroud, Theo and Sanchez, then hope DW gets back a bit early .

16 he didn't need to spend 30 mill on yet another midfielder, add another 20 mill to that and he could find a striker, and yes we can afford it.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 19:28:38
The problem is even a few years ago players found us attractive (Sanchez and Ozil to prove the point) but now players think coming is a bad idea add that to the fact that wenger will not spend the money required! We are now in a cue behind United, city and Chelsea for players and soon to be competing with Liverpool and Spurs for what's left. And if wenger is leaving next year why is he wasting money on players for the future when they are not going to feature for 3-5 years? The next manager might want to play a different style and ship em out. We will soon find out if it's wenger or the club who refuse to spend top dollar when the next manager comes in. Knowing our luck I bet it's George bloody Osbourne.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 19:46:06
Let the fun begin, I going to get slaughtered for this but I'll stick by Wenger until at least the first game of the season, trying to be optimistic but I for one know if this Wengers last season which I don't believe it will be, Wenger stated 3 players max first team that is, so a CB and CF will be bought in my opinion but that's what it is my opinion it's been talked about a lot that we need to improve the spine of our team and Wenger might be arrogant and ignorant however stupid he is not and if this is going to be his swan song he's not going to wanna leave with his legacy some what in question he's going to wanna leave on his note and a premier league trophy for us fans
Hey all my opinion let the fun begin.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 20:07:24
Ignorance is making him look stupid, that can't be argued in still waiting for this super signing you announced lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 20:21:27
Convincing good players let alone top players to join us is getting more and more difficult as each not competitive season passes.
Mourinho Gardiola Conti Klopp and Poch can all paint a convincing picture of how their club is going places and why their clubs futures will be so much better next season, where does Arsene even begin to convince people our next season will be any different to our last 10 seasons?

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 20:31:41
Exactly G62,
Especially when we sign top quality players like Sanchez and Ozil and than it's widely publicised they want to leave due to lack of progress and investment.

13 Jul 2016 20:32:34
I do agree these convosations are pointless at the moment let's worry come 1st September try and enjoy the summer boys. Me for one won't accept the heartbreak without the excitement and anticipation first.

No point in having a Banter page until the start of the season then Sanogo.

Trouble is the transfer window mirrors many previous ones.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 22:52:19
I didn't mean that lol. I meant we can't call him for something he hasn't done yet, not let's not discuss it. The chances are it will be same old same old you never know.

I hate the excuse used by Arsenal and Wenger that they are 'waiting for the right player to come on to the market' - I remember Gazidis peddling it out to some fans on ArsenalFanTV. That is utter bull. The reality is that they're just too lazy to go and find that player. As Leicester and West Ham showed, the right player is always out there if you look hard enough.

After much searching, the original source of the Higuain story is:
Emanuele Giulianelli

This is the only person I believe less than malaga!

Wasn't he the same guy that broke the news that I was signing ;)

I see people type "there's more time left, there's a long way to go, patience, blah blah blah".
Hasn't this always been arsenal's way in every window?
We get linked to almost every player on earth and then we play the waiting game only to see the window shutdow. Honestly, it's a bit of a routine work.
Tell you what, Wenger really know how to sway the media and the fans plus he's somewhat tricky. He did say we need to sign replacement for Welbeck and i'm afraid the Asano guy could be the striker he's talking about. I think he said what he said "one for the future" to get away from the fans.
This is what i've observed through the analysis of every window.
The window story continues.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Jul 2016 13:42:38
I keep saying be patient etc etc. But now I'm concerned. I know there's a long time left but for the life of me I cannot see a good realistic forward coming in. I said yesterday and il say again if he sees draxler as a CF one day just pay the money and get him here. Or next summer he'll still be impressing and his fee will keep rising and we'll keep pondering. Just get it done already.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 13:57:12
Why are all assuming it will be different exactly?

Last Window, Cech was signed early on and then nada.

Previous Window, was one marque signing post the World Cup.

Prior to that one marquee signing on deadline day.

Wenger and Team Dither in the market. It doesn't mean the team is Rubbish and we will finish 7th, but we all need to cool our expectations a bit.

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 14:42:13
You have to remember that it's no fault of Arsenal or its management who we are linked to! Everyone says they understand this yet get angry st the club. Of course not making the required signings is a different matter.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 12:22:13
Is it time Wenger starts thinking about loans, given that we are unable to get a striker?

Generally this is two types of players:

1. Young, needs games
2. Older, squad player, good for cover.

Type 1
Jese (Real Madrid)
Jovetic (Roma)
?

Type 2
Robben (Bayern)
Huntelaar (Schalke)
Bony (Man City)

Believable0 Unbelievable1

13 Jul 2016 13:06:22
Unable to get a striker? We're two weeks into the transfer window.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 13:29:34
Hate to say it. but these feel much more realistic / typically Wenger signings.

A few more to add (don't shoot the messenger)

Type 1
Jeff (Promote)
Chuba (Promote)
William (Bilbao)

Type 2
Loic Remy (Chelsea)
Jemery Menez (Milan)
Karim Bellarabi (Leverklusan)
Adrian (Villareal)

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 13:37:30
I'd take William and menez.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 13:59:15
NE Gooner - My comment should have been more specific:
"Unable to sign a marque Striker, as most have moved or are not for sale":

Morata (moved)
Zlatan (moved)
Embolo (moved)
Michi (moved)
Ledanowski (not for sale)
Vardy (Declined)
Icardi (not for sale)
Etc.
etc.
etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 19:17:57
I'd take Remy, he scores goals when he gets games. Proven that over and over.

icardi has been put up for sale what are we waiting for.

Hola amigos

I am told the Higuain rumours are not true

I can tell you we are very interested in Lewandowski.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

13 Jul 2016 08:32:17
Lewandowski? No chance.

Probably Messi.

Agree2 Disagree2

13 Jul 2016 09:55:37
From this I now gather there's a chance with hiquain and no chance of lewandowski.

Agree3 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 10:52:54
From this I now gather Malaga has been on the Sangria.

Again :-)

Agree3 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 11:18:58
if lewandowski is worth 70 mill and messi worth 200 mill

10 - litres of sangria = lewandowski rumour

? litres of sangria = messi rumours?

13 Jul 2016 13:32:50
The higuain rumors must be true then Malaga, you are always incorrect?

13 Jul 2016 08:15:33
I got really excited about this transfer window after signing granit xhaka so early, but it looks like the same old transfer window we arsenal fans have suffered over the last few years 1 big name player then a load of youngters that will never get the chance at the first team. We all know what areas need to be addressed but for the life of me i cannot see it happening what with all the tv money and the money in the bank Wenger will still be tight fisted and not spend where we need it. so for the love of god Arsene please please spend the cash.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

13 Jul 2016 09:43:01
Plenty of time left, but Wenger does remind me of Rocky Balboa chasing the chicken in the yard.

Plenty of endeavour but no end product.

Harsh?

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 12:03:45
Come on lads can we at least wait until the end of the window before we start slating wenger and the club, seems to be all everyone does is whine and moan.

This is a very true story. Not a joke I promise you all. Ok here goes.
My cousin lives off the Finchley Road near Totteridge and Whetstone.
We are in Waitrose. We come out the back door so to speak. My cousins says
" This man coming towards us really looks like Wenger "
Who's walking up the slope coming towards us?
Arsene! Turns out he lives around the corner. Pops into Waitrose regular on his own and the restaurant along the road .
Anyhow we stop for a brief moment and chat shake his hand etc .
Guess what he says? You will never believe it if I told you.
Well to be fair I'm not a snitch so It would not be right so all I'm going to say is that he was really pleasant and genuinely nice.
I will tell you all in a few months .
TRUE STORY .

Believable0 Unbelievable8

13 Jul 2016 09:00:17
Come on! You've got to realise how that sounds? You'll tell us after the transfer window shuts, then can pick a player and tell us all that's who you were told. What will you say when we don't sign anyone else?

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 09:15:34
He lives halfway down Totteridge lane on the right, just on a little street. Mike Ashley lives in a house over the other side of tott lane, and David dein is off of totteridge lane not far from Wenger, near wengers old house (he moved two years go)

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 09:45:06
Don't believe that story one bit.

Wenger in Waitrose?

Has he been banned from Poundland for haggling?

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 10:36:22
May I never see my kids again boys .
I wouldn't say that I promise.
And! I don't need to tell lies seriously .
Mark-AFC-Abbott .
I will tell you what he said and! who said anything about him talking to us about transfers anyway?
You don't think Wenger is going to start reeling off his plans to me or anyone he meets in the street do you .
That's a bit naive to say the least.

Agree0 Disagree2

13 Jul 2016 11:26:05
if your not a "snitch" then your saying its something not known to the public. I find it very hard to believe given how close wenger holds his cards to his chest. Not sure why you would wait a few months.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2016 13:03:56
Mark-AFC- Abbott.
Why not wait a few months? Seems reasonable to me .
Oh! Ok then Mark just because it's you mate.
It went like this.
I'll tell you later my phones ringing.

Ok mate seeing it's you this is what happened .
My Cousin who is in his 80s
" I'm sure that's Wenger "
Me " Yeah you are right Jim it is "
As he approaches us .
My cousin " Hello Arsene how are you? "
Shaking hands at this point .
Arsene "Very well thank you "
My cousin " Doing some shopping? "
Arsene " Yes I'm getting some pastries "
Me " I bet you are busy at the moment, Can I ask you if you have any surprises coming in? "
Arsene . Smiles 😊 "We will have to wait and see we are always looking "
Me. "Would you like a coffee with us? "
Arsene. "Are you mad you will get me talking and tell everyone on that football site especially
Mark Abbot and Dags "

No he never said the last bit I made that up .
That was it really . We stood chit chatting for 5 minutes and I borrowed £1 for the trolley off of Arsene and we went on our way .

Mark I never really borrowed a pound mate!
I was joking about that bit too .
He was alright mate.
