So with lacazette apparently injured not sure we will sign a striker, however given the preference of Walcott and akpom and wingers chamberlain, iwobi, Campbell. Add that to gnabry and asano to come back from the Olympics, I wouldn't be to upset if we didn't. At least one centre back is a must.

If we can get the Liverpool players to all wear Arsene masks and we play a back 4 and 2 holding DMs of Arsene out fans Liverpool won't be able to get anything by them and we will keep a clean sheet, then we play an attacking 4 of Arsene in fans and stick a goal size contract inside the Liverpool net and tell them each time they hit the contract Arsene gets a 1 years extension.
Arsenal 30 Liverpool 0 job done.

Nah mate,
Put ticket price up to £100 for Liverpool fan's, they will walk out on 79 mins, Liverpool players will go to pieces and we score 2 late goals.

BOOM.

I felt elneny changed the game today and Walcott did as he should be doing good solid win but to me looks like we need a cb more than a striker before Liverpool's game.

Gabriel injury is no one's fault not the ref who was giving the fans their full 90 minutes football they paid to see, not Arsene either because obviously he couldn't prevent it either, it just one of those very unfortunate things that happen, hope the lads back on his feet and feeling a lot better than he looked when he went off very very soon.
What is down to Arsene is how short we were b before that injury and it's his responsibility to put it right twice between now and next weekend.

07 Aug 2016 21:33:49
Don't get your hopes up mate.

Baptism of fire for Holding and Chambers.

Plus, Wenger will play Coq or Xhaka in front of them.

Gonna be a defensive 4-5-1 line up.

07 Aug 2016 21:44:12

07 Aug 2016 23:21:55
I think you boys have an excellent chance to win the league this year given all the changes in the alleged top four boys again.

Anyway, here's to a good season full of good spirit and banter boys and girls. And I promise no more hash tags 😜.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2016 21:00:40
I think Wenger was waiting to see all our pre-season games before signing a striker in case Akpom convinced him not to. Whether his 4 goals did that or not, the Gabriel injury probably means that Giroud, Walcott and Akpom will be our strikers this season with available funds spent at the back.

Bbut the price for defenders has just increased.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

07 Aug 2016 20:41:04
After tonights Gabriel disaster there is one simple answer for Wenger. Asap get Thomas Vermaelen back in before his Roma loan goes through. It's got to happen.

AW will be mad to rush Kos back what a daft move that will be

Take the medicine and see what happens we don't want Kos out long term that would be suicidal mad mad gamble.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

07 Aug 2016 20:36:02
Agreed banbury and gunner but he will play.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Aug 2016 20:51:38
Arsene has to learn from his Sanchez mistake v Norwich last season, Kos is more important than Sanchez Ozil or Cech to Arsenal and that's before Gabriel or Mertesacker were injured, Ozil Cech and Sanchez are always big misses but Kos is the glue that holds our back four together.
Better to accept not having him for the opening two games than losing him for half the season as we did in 2014/ 15 season when we played him in the champions league qualifier when he wasn't 100%.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2016 20:20:58
I can't see kos not playing now, who will partner him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

07 Aug 2016 20:29:45
Rushing back Kos would be a mistake, we need him against Liverpool of course we do but we need him in all 37 games that follow too.
Don't panic and gamble with a half ready Kos is my view, play the long game and let him get 100% before putting him on the pitch.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Aug 2016 20:37:35
Agreed gunner but the pressure is well and truly on wenger in this first game and will he stick or twist.

30 mil should be winging its way to spain this evening, mustaffi available and needed. I think the new striker will have to wait. Unless we sling 13 mil in man cities way, we won't have the finance for both.

Please tell me youre not on about bony, u slated me for wanting lacaztte. bony is awful giroud is better.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2016 05:24:38
First of all show me the post i slated "you" for lacazette, i said we won't pay the money for lacazette because he wasn't worth it and bony is not my first choice at all but probably as has been suggested by a few an " affordable" option, which we won't get anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2016 20:14:36
I have been impressed by the two friendlys I have seen by you boys, the answer is simple at you club out with the old in giroud and co and start iwobi and akpom every week. It's going to be a open season as I think there is nothing between arsenal, spurs city, Utd Chelsea, Liverpool and maybe west ham.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2016 20:09:24
Here's a thought - lacazette Doesn't tick the 4 boxes for AW or he would have signed by now.

We appear to mess around in transfers that are in the public domain but were we ever interested or just media BS?

We do move swiftly and pay the going rate when we want the player - Ade, Ozil, Sanchez, Theo, Ox, Nasri, Granit etc etc

So, is someone else our main target up front?

Griezmann ticks all 4 boxes, Morata?

Thoughts?

07 Aug 2016 20:07:52
3-2 Good performance but marred by Gabrie's injury which looked bad knee type one could be a few months that one. We needed a CB before now but we need one pronto now can't risk starting with Holding and chambers against Liverpool.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

07 Aug 2016 20:11:25
Some good performances - Theo's pace can be the difference at times. Nice goal and created third through pace.

Some terrible defending - got to sort that crap out. Bring in Williams.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2016 20:20:45
Kos will be rushed back because we have little choice, this is what happened two seasons back and because he wasn't 100% up to speed he to got injured too and we lost him for the first 4 months of the season.
Its looking exactly as it did in 2014/ 15 where we are out of contention by early October and out of top 4 at the turn of the year but rally to get a top 4 place by the end of May.
Some people will blame our bad luck with injuries others will quite rightly blame our lack of ambition in the summer and then we do it all again next summer and the summer after that.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Aug 2016 20:28:51

Believable0 Unbelievable1

07 Aug 2016 20:09:07
We have absolutely no choice but to sign 2 centre backs now. Looks like Per will be out until early 2017 and Gabriel could be longer, not that he'll be a miss anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2016 20:09:37
yeah looks bad I think it was more like a knee Ligament which is worse than a break really could be few Months CB needed urgent.

The way he's gone over on his standing leg, I'd wager that's a fracture or even a break.

Aubameyang just came out saying he is staying, from what the Ed's said that they would like to see the back of him, and he is holding out for Madrid, so perhaps last minute he may have to cbsider an alternative? With Madrid having a transfer ban and when they get out of it he won't be on their list. I reckon payday loan awaits.

D 16 let me get this straight if ashley williams who is 32 and has never played for a top team before, so that alone is a question mark, was available on a free or for 5 million then i might, just might see where you are coming from. But swansea have turned down flat 13 mil from everton ( for me the sort of team he should be at) so ther is no guarantee he will be available for less than 15 mil. Regardless of your or my opinion of his ability, how can you knock me for not wanting him, when he i 100% not good value. Wenger doesn't sign 32 year old player for that money, so i can quite confidently say he won't be coming anyway, regardless.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

07 Aug 2016 14:46:44
This happens every year Steve

The fans get desperate for signings

In the end anyone will do

1 more season and he will be gone.

Agree1 Disagree2

07 Aug 2016 14:47:59
Ok i'm not saying they'd accept that bid. I'm saying if we can get him for that price I'd be happy. But as stated he would not be my first choice. However in this crazy market. Spending that on an experienced defender who did outstanding in the euros against big name defenders could go a long way for the team and young players. You disagree fair enough let's not drag this on to death. Would love to know the others views on here.

Agree2 Disagree1

07 Aug 2016 15:06:44
No Malaga anyone will not do. Just because I think Williams would be a good signing does not mean I think anyone will do and I know I'm not alone in that. Yes one more season he'll be gone and two more until you're moaning about someone else.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Aug 2016 15:15:22
D16 with all due respect, the euros! If you are valuing players on what they did in the euros, pogba would be 10 mil and sisoko would be 100 mil. For me 15 mil + wages for a steady cb would impact future spending if and when the right player became gettable.

Agree0 Disagree2

07 Aug 2016 15:17:07
16

I agree with you, Get the pair of them now, it's those or no one .

I understand what Steve is saying but time is running out, not sure if anyone has noticed this but it seems we don't have many players queuing up to join us.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Aug 2016 15:44:29
Just to put out there I do see what you're saying Steve. And no I'm not just basing it on the Euros that'll be silly. He's been consistent in the league tho. Look July the first I would've said no let's get someone a lot better and younger. Now it's not going to happen and I feel Williams would be a good choice. However can't stress enough this isn't a better than no one situation lol.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Aug 2016 15:52:18
Steve
I agree with your logic and I would not want to pay over 13m for him but we need that type of addition - leader, EPL experience, fighter, ready made and low risk if he will make a difference
Panic buy - no
Long term buy - no
Could he make a big difference to defence and attitude in the team - yes
On those grounds he makes sense

Would he be the type of player to grab the poor performers at half time and tell them to man up - yes.
Will he lead by example / yes
Will he turn his back when defending - no

Did The special one see the value an aging Terry adds to a team -> yes.

Where have you been the last few months i have named loads, not all super expensive and not all desperate choices. Do you want me to name them again so that you can say this and that, when by now most have gone elsewhere or we aren't going for any that i would want anyway. For me our targets should have been identified months ago and we should have had a 1, 2 and 3 target, if that is exhausted and we don't get our choices, we shouldn't buy desperation buys like people mentioned, like vermalen, williams and benteke. If we do buy player because we are desperate, then for me we are not going anywhere fast. I personally don't think we will buy in desperation but i could easily be wrong.

Agree3 Disagree0

07 Aug 2016 12:57:18
Crybaby,
The words 'Steve' and 'Happy' do not belong in same sentence mate.

Please rephrase your question :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2016 13:12:10
Benteke is awful and I don't think Wenger would anyway. I am from Swansea and Willian's isn't as bad as you think he is, what gets me we have known for years what arsenal are like in the transfer window but we always get wound up just let it happen I am confident we will sign at least 2 more and who ever they are they will have my support through thick and thin.

Agree0 Disagree1

07 Aug 2016 13:51:40
Crybaby, i have said if people read my post, williams is a solid type of player, he's too dear and too much of a risk, i have said everton are after him and that's his standard. At well over 13mil ( which has been rejected from everton) he is at 32 years old a bad buy.

Agree1 Disagree1

07 Aug 2016 12:05:33
Does anyone else get the sinking feeling that Wenger will end up with Bony? Surely not a top shelf striker that we need.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

07 Aug 2016 13:25:39
As has been said, we should be signing better than bony, but the guy for me would improve what we have, he certainly gave some very good teams a hard time at swansea. He never got a chance at man city but when he did he never let them down. he's not past it and is still in his prime ans at 13 mill wouldn't be dead money at the very least. But he could be still a very good prem striker. He has size, pace, power and causes big problems. I don't see us going for him though.

Agree1 Disagree2

07 Aug 2016 10:50:14
All right. Here goes.
One week to the start of the season and I am already absolutely fed up. After the implosion we had to put up with (but should have expected) from the beginning of the year to a transfer window that has been predictable, woeful and full of such a load of utter bullshit from Arsene and the rest of Arsenal management, why o why should I and we expect this season to be any better than any of the last 12?
We finished 2nd last year but we all know that was actually a worsening of performance - 71 points? How many time in Premier League history will 71 points finish 2nd. I would wager that more often 71 points would see a side outside of the UCL places.
As it stands, after the unbearable false hopes and broken promises of this transfer window, our only hope of a successful season is that - the OX turns into Riyad Mahrez (I admit there is a chance that could happen but a very slim one) , Iwobi turns into Neymar or Zidane or someone like that, Cazorla, Sanchez and Ozil don't get injured and the latter stands up in the games we start badly, for a change, the backline somehow turns into Adams, Keown, Dixon and Winterburn and Ramsey finds his 2013-14 form. And finally Wenger stops being Wenger. Forgot to mention that we also need that Walcott/ Giroud stiker type thing to work out where the back of the net is.
It may a bit premature to start up this year's Wenger out campaign, but I really do fear than in 2 weeks' time, Wenger out will once again be the bandwagon everyone wants to jump on.
Finally, can any of the Eds please tell me if Arsenal have any idea at all how to make a bid for a player? We always seem to be "putting a bid together" - what does that even mean?
I had to get that off my chest, but I still do not feel better.
I need help!

Spoken from the heart.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2016 09:23:28
I would like us to stock up in defence - a Williams ( great role model for Holding to help development) , Mustafi to be longterm solution. A right back.
I would like a dribbler in midfield who is happy on wing - Draxler or Mahrez would have been good but happy with Isco
I would like a true pacy goal scorer, ideally with good movement, intelligent run and can score with both feet. lacazette is my favoured option but I have always liked Hernandez.
You will tell me I am either downgrading my options or dreaming. I am a realist and want a far better side to compete and give options. These would give us that even if they are not the world class signings some crave.
Come on Wenger let's get it done and show intent.

07 Aug 2016 10:15:41
I am a bit greedy - yes but I think Per is showing his age and we must have quality cover at the back like we do in midfield. We must be more stable at the back to stop leaking stupid goals and giving the opposition hope of possibly scoring a goal.

I also want options so when the bus in parked, we can break the team down. We don't really have a quick clever dribbler. We need to be able to counter attack quicker plus have more offensive options

I want to win the league and I think we need that in our team.

Agree0 Disagree2

07 Aug 2016 10:52:53

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2016 10:53:48
So what you are saying is after 20 years of buying defenders we've not got a role model for holding so we should buy the prolific trophy winning world reknowned super star, ashley williams. Come on guys how desperate are we going to get, benteke, defoe, vermarlen, van persie, I hear kim kallstrom is still playing and fit. What about robbie keane, he could bang them in for us.

It looks like people have been posting the same things over and over again for years about players, Arsene, the board etc etc. Have a read if you have time made me think that the EDS must have the patience of a saint total respect to them because I think it would have driven me mad by now .

Probably been discussed many a time but what are people's thoughts on Benteke? For me he's a good striker but I don't think he's at the standard that were after, why do I get this feeling that we're going too sign him on the last day as 'no other targets were available' signing, paper over the crack job.

Liverpool want their money back on him so it's a non starter even if he wasn't a poorer version of Olly, we obviously need back up to Giroud but we also need someone who could play along side him too.

Just read city would accept 13 million for Bony? If true Bony and Williams at 25 million the pair?
They might not be what everyone was dreaming of in June but with 1 week to go they would be very welcome additions who couldn't help but improve our squad.
£25 million would still leave £175 million in the bank and might even be the difference between 4th and 5th meaning the club would see a return on its investment within a year.
Is a win win situation as fans get the players to give us half a chance and the club gets to keep the vast majority of its dosh in place, everyone's a winner, well not everyone because if we end up 4th obviously it's back to the Spursday night league for 5th place spuds of course :-)

Now the desperation has started. Why should we want a player who liverpool don't want. If klopp says he's not good enough, that's good enogh for me.

Not sure on the credibility but bbc sport ste saying Williams isn't happy and wanting European football. Seriously Arsene just go in for him. I say this as if he is Reading but he'll be a great short term solution.

Im pleased to say he doesn't fit wengers profile, so I am happy to presume we won't sign another average player, that would not improve the team. Pease because the club won't sign players that are good enough to take us forward, why should we sign another player to make us stand still. Just another journey man.

How would Williams not improve our team 😂 Do you actually watch football Steve or just go with gut feelings after a few to many vindaloos?

D16 let me get this straight, you are on about the ashley williams who has played for hednesford town stockport and swansea, is 32 years old and while he is a solid player has never won a major honour in his life, except the league cup beating bradford. How desperate ard we getting. He isn't dire but he is a jounrney man. Who arsenal should be signing, not for me, we already have a 32 year old who has won more than him and i don't think he's good enough either. Why don't we get sweignstieger or carrick, they've been round the block too.

Because them other players aren't up to scratch. You're coming out with stupid reasons not to sign a player. I'm not saying he should be our 1 and only target but he would improve us for a decent fee. How on earth is playing for 3 clubs making you a journey man. I swear you're going from post to post on here talking absolute nonsense just because you have a some major problem with our club.

D16 listen to yourself, you are saying we should pay 15 mil for a 32 year old player who has never played for anyone bigger than swansea, with no sell on fee and no guarantee he will be able to get them old legs going next season. It was not long ago wenger shipped out all his 30 year old with a better pedigree than williams and you are telling me i have this and that problem with the club. You want to sign players to take this club nowhere. that's my opinion pal not my problem.

How do you know he will take us nowhere. Do you have a crystal ball? Williams is a good solid defender and for that price would be worth having for a few seasons. I couldn't give a toss about resale value. And when his legs go hopefully one of the younger ones will be ready to step in. And Steve your opinions always seem to be whatever shines the worst light on the club. I don't think anyone here is as pessimistic or over critical about our club that yourself regardless of whether it's your opinion or not.

Firstly, i know this is never happening BUT, the ideal scenario is us offering a large sum to Madrid for Morata and Varane. We get 2 top drawer, young stars in the positions we need and Madrid get the cash to nab Pogba off United. Win, win, win!

Wenger believe walcott is not a winger because he can't defend and can turn into a top level striker. don't shoot the messenger.

There will be an up to the minute report tonight Steve mate, our sauces have been on the sauce all weekend and are now desperately trying to sober up and get up to speed on everything that's happened in regards of real Arsenal transfer news over the weekend.
As we speak Pascal Prentendez is making his way to Gotham city for tonight's game in order to get the very latest news from his inside man at Arsenal Gardias Everypenny.

Arsene says today, that he see's Theo as a striker and will mostly use him up top this season.

Less than a week after Theo stated he no longer wishes to play as a striker and to return to right wing.

Personally, I don't think Theo deserves to start in either role.
I'd rather Giroud/ New striker (please God) or even Chuba (for a bit) up top and Oxlade/ Joel on the right.

But there you have it ladies and gents, Arsenal's new No.9 for the season, Theo Walcott.

Laca-who?

I can only think that that is it for walcott, or wenger is preparing us for the giroud v walcott round two.
