Are we getting closer to signing a compromise striker, a great striker or frustration?
Thuram
Cunha
Dusan
Sesko
Jesus
Osimhen
Gyokeres
Is Cunha good enough?
Osimhen is my number 1 then probably Dusan and then Sesko.
Lets get busy Arteta as need a winger also.
22 Jan 2025 17:53:00
Top two stats wise ( excluding penalties ) are Thuram and Gyokeres neither excites me to be fair. Both in teams top of the league too and Portuguese league is not the strongest. Lookman looks impressive but being third would Atalanta sell - doubtful. Cunha all but one in two in a side in bottom four so Prem ready. So Cunha and Lookman - how do i logout of this Football Manager thingy COYG.
23 Jan 2025 09:39:37
Personally i don't want Osimhen or Dusan,
I think the best thing about this arsenal team is the harmony among the squad and I feel that both of them disrupt it, both come across more about the financials than the team and football (I might be wrong obvs and I don't personally know either)
Thuram doesn't excite me and I feel Cunha would be a mistake, he is having a good spell but I feel that is it.
I don't know anything about Jesus, but am aware he is highly rated and is the current Brazil striker so that sound promising, but i feel would be a bigger gamble than the rest.
SO that leave Sesko and Gyokores, and I really like what I have seen of both of them, I do worry about the level of the league they are playing in but both are scoring in the champ league and would prob be my preferred choice from your list, but we won't get either this winter is the issue.

Petit has played with some talent.
His best 11
Goalkeeper and Defenders
Fabien Barthez; Lillian Thuram, Marcel Desailly, John Terry, Manuel Amoros
Midfielders
Zinedine Zidane, Xavi, Rivaldo
Forwards
George Weah, Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry
That's a special 11 with no room for Paddy!

Hi sy. hope alls good. some stellar players on that listā¦ but did he play in the same arsenal squad as Tony Adamāsā¦? . because if soā¦ in my opinion heās made a boo boo picking John Terryā¦ ahead of big tone, donāt get me wrong John Terry was very good. but big tone was a colossus.
21 Jan 2025 22:29:45
Seaman was left out alsoā¦ Adams, yep he played in that double winning side with Petit. Tough choices
All good - you?
Better if we sign a couple of attackers. Canāt believe itās taking so long.
21 Jan 2025 22:39:12
This filled me with dreadā¦.
There were certain possibilities with the Fabio situation, ā he said. āWeāre exploring all of the things that we can do, just in case we cannot do them as well, how the injuries are progressing and when weāre going to have them available. ā
We really donāt need him back.
22 Jan 2025 12:39:32
Hi sy. alls good my friendā¦ Mikel is probably going to bring Fabio back ā¦ as right back or goalkeeping cover. š.
22 Jan 2025 12:42:05
Syā¦ I forgot to sayā¦ Arsenal shouldnāt have got rid of smith-rowe. (only my humble opinion of course) ā¦.
22 Jan 2025 13:22:18
Heās a miss and was great cover for Ode that left us exposed. Bit of a blunder there.
Fabio wouldnāt be like a new signing - probably fullback and the opposite side to what heās footed š
Glad all good - but nervous about the window.
22 Jan 2025 14:11:48
I read this
Think itās referred to as a blind spot
Have a look at these Arsenal games below. Guess what they have in common.
- Arsenal 3-1 Southampton
- Arsenal 2-2 Liverpool
- Newcastle 1-0 Arsenal
- Fulham 1-1 Arsenal
- Brighton 1-1 Arsenal
- Arsenal 2-2 Aston Villa
In these six games, Arsenal has only managed one win. Why highlight these games? Well, those are the league games Partey has filled in at right back.
For sure, Thomas Partey at right back is not having the impact it was meant to have on this team.
It is about time Mikel Arteta and his technical bench were bold enough to try someone else at right back and play Partey in midfield (we score more and win more with him as a #6) .

There's so little posting on here about any possible movement in the transfer window, I am worried if I'm honest. I love the manager, especially how he's given us the love back, loud and proud! The stadium is finally rocking and feels a little like Highbury. Exciting football at times. But please for the love of god get us a proven striker! Or trust one from the academy. Havertz is such a good player, in his role, an unselfish creator causing problems for defences, for others to pounce on. No offence to him, he's not a natural finisher. If he were 1v1 on the keeper I'd still be crapping myself that he'd hit row Z. I know we've been spoilt with guys like Henry and Wrighty who you'd almost bet your house on, and that sort of player costs a buck or two. But you don't win titles just buying midfielders. Although TH was bought as a winger! š GOYG.

The waiting is awful KG, like waiting for Christmas when you're a kid (or a big kid lol) Just have to trust the powers that be I suppose and if we don't bring anyone in so be it. We need to get behind the team for the rest of the season.
22 Jan 2025 14:08:27
True but if my parents knew what I wanted and needed but bought something completely different then tried to convince me itās a transformer so I can make it into somethings itās not naturally best at - Iād be annoyed and be nervous about Christmas., like I am with our windows š.

Afternoon all Ed's and fellow gunners hope alls well. was thinking about set plays in football and how much improved we have been in recent years. scoring from them and in general defending against them, we have massively improved. which then got me thinking, and doing some research regarding direct free kicks. regarding our beloved ARSENAL and was a little shocked to be honest with you. the last time we scored from a direct free kick was three years ago odegaard vs Burnley then I thought how many direct free kicks have the ARSENAL scored in the premier league era (so I googled it) . and was even more shocked when it came back with an answer of a grand total of 13. if these really are the stats ( then wow that's not very good at all) . over the years we have had some immensely talented players at our club and these numbers just seem so small. so for all the dead ball special-ists training we do regarding corners you'd think we might do a bit more work on the direct free kicks. just a thought. and I haven't googled it but how many times in recent seasons have we seen us score a real screamer from outside the penalty area.? . would love to see us try a few more shots from distance. sometimes they fly in, sometimes wide or over the bar, sometimes they take a deflection and go in and sometimes the keeper might spill it for a tap in. but if you want to win the lottery, you got to buy a ticket. we are always trying score the so called perfect goal. the perfect goal is the one that goes in wether it's 2yards,10yards or 30yards. and we've got players who can hit a ball fairly decent. goal scoring brings me on to the last bit of my post. we need a goal scorer. I'm going to suggest one. and you guys can slaughter me for it if you want. but this guy is from (good stock) . young, quick very good movement, can link well, poach goals, score from outside the box. already doing it in the premier league and in all honesty would probably jump at the chance to join the ARSENAL . Justin kluivert for this window then find him a strike partner in the summer. š“āŖļøā¤ļø COYG/ VTH. āš»&š«¶š».
21 Jan 2025 16:27:55
His name had me notice him Gabi and I think you're right.
And if Partey was more careful he has a kick on him. Same as Rice. Both capable of screamers on a good day :)
21 Jan 2025 19:57:03
Hi Sal, hope allās well. regarding kluivert i'm not just going on his last game. I liked his father (was a top striker) . so have always kept a bit of an eye on his son Justinā¦ last weekend he scored a hatrick away at Newcastle. his stats for that game were three shots on goal, scored threeā¦ three very different goals by the way, one being a belter from outside the box and also had an assist. I think Bournemouth paid ā¬11 million + ā¬1.5mil in ad-ons total ā¬12.5mil, now letās say offer Bournemouth between Ā£18m to just over Ā£22millon for himā¦Bournemouth almost double their money we get a decent young premier league proven player. (who we havenāt had to break the bank for) . ā¦ chuck him in the starting line up watch him go on the goal trail including a hatrick and assist against Newcastle knock them out the cup. score a truck load of goals with the amount of chances we create. jobs a goodun. blimey Sal this managerial lark is quite easy really. isnāt it. donāt know why Mikel keeps complicating things. šššš“āŖļøā¤ļø.

Great point made by a few people on here which I hadn't thought about- why didn't Kiwior play CByesterday and Timber at RB? Bizarre team selection.
19 Jan 2025 20:05:27
Hi glen hope alls well. and yes mate. itās a good shout by you and others. I posted on here a couple of weeks ago saying sometimes Mikel tryās to be too cute with his selections. trying to fit square pegs in round holes, and round pegs in square holes and it just not working and being detrimental to the cause at times, just get back to basics. yesterday was an example of this kiwior could have played central defence with gabi, zini or kT slot in at left back and timber on the right. partey tries his best but he is definitely nowhere near as good played at right back. not really his as not his natural position. he totally switched off for a split second yesterday and it was 2 massive points dropped at home. if partey had been played in his natural position yesterday alongside rice and ode we may not have conceded either of them goals to villa. but we will never know nowā¦the thing I am sure of is we still need a striker because we are still creating chances we should be putting away. but who is really gettable in this windowā¦? ā¦ realistically who can we get this window because we need someone. š“āŖļøā¤ļø.
19 Jan 2025 21:00:32
Heās does make some weird decisions making defence and midfield weaker by playing people out of position without actually learningā¦, looks strange from the outside and raises questions about him that arenāt necessary.
20 Jan 2025 07:49:28
Great point. He does love over thinking things.
20 Jan 2025 09:06:12
I might be wrong but i don't think either gab or Kiwor like to play right sided CB, they are both very left footed.
20 Jan 2025 22:45:21
Iām sure Partey isnāt a right back, doesnāt think like a right back nor enjoys playing right back plus isnāt mobile enough to play right back. Worst choice out of a bad bunch of options. Despite Fulback being the bosses preferred signing over a strikerā¦ a CB should be able to play either side for the odd game. Despite all our defensive signings - we lack quality in cover which is on Arteta also.
21 Jan 2025 09:54:53
I think the lack quality in cover comment is a bit unfair, We have White, tommy and califori all out, who could have all played at RB or CB very comfortably and would have been close to our first choice.
I agree Partey is not a RB and other than the odd game has never really looked comfortable there, and i agree a CB should be able to player either side, my comment might have not been valid, it was just a thought as i have never seen either play on that side of the central defence.
We are down to our 4/ 5 choice at RB if timber has to play CB, not many teams will have great cover at that level. we have the best defence in the league for the last few seasons, the club and arteta have done very well in that department since Arteta took over.
