just a question I noticed that Micah Richards was absent from City, s match day squad for the game against Cardiff is he injured?
Heybridge Gooner

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Heybridge I do believe richards is injured mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Richards is always injured which is why I don't understand people constantly mentioning his name.

Maybe we could sign him to keep Diaby company in the hospital?

Guys we all agree this window has been a mess, Is anyone confident we will get the required players, at this late point I have absolutely no confidence in anyone running our club

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yater21 nah mate not totally convinced at the moment. more hope than expectancy. can't believe its come to this.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's been a mess regarding bringing in players, but getting rid of players it's been a superb window.

We will see in about a week what the window has been. Hopefully 3-4 players in

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with you, the shambolic way our transfers are handled just depresses me . Never believed we would spend big on any one player just more smoke screens . So who do you think we will end up with. My guesses are
St torres 15
Dm flamini free
lw unknown poss french
Def as above
gk krull 12
total outlay 40 ish

Agree0 Disagree0

How many times do people need to be disappointed with our buying policy, don't you realise we haven't got a policy, it's all hot air. The only way AW will spend is if he finally realises the supporters are finally wanting him out.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hear even flamini is going to turn down contract, ffs, what is going on! and why are we letting him get fit in our training system, who's paying for that!

Even though beating spurs is good for the bragging rights.
It is NOT where are season hinges on.
They have got by with 2 pens.not scored from open play.
Happily say we win by 2 clear goals.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Aug 2013 19:31:19
I'm more relaxed about playing spurs next week then I was last year now they don't have bale, plus aslong as we don't give them a penalty we should be sound, because it looks like that's the only way they can score at the moment.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I do like our chances to get a result, but let's not under estimate our cross town rivals.

Capoue and especially Paulinho look really strong and add a lot to that midfield.

As I said, I think we will get the best of spurs but let's not be naive

I actually quite like Sagna as CB, he's fast and decent on the ball, can drop off and cover plus experienced enough to read the play better than most. It leaves Jenkinson as our only RB but then again its only when TV5 or Kos are injured or unavailable. I`m not sure any defenders will come in during this window for this reason, any that do come in will only sit on the bench as Mert, Kos and TV5 will be ahead in the pecking order. Miquel`s loan is only til January so I can see him coming back from that to add depth (shouldnt have gone imho anyway).

I think we`ll bring in a new GK (obvious reason why), striker (no depth in the squad) and a wide attacking player who can change the game. Other than that everything else is to add depth to the squad, either Flamini or Cabaye, or both. I`d love to see a strong holding midfielder but it seems too much to ask given our usual tentative nature in the market, plus a GK, Striker and Winger seem far more a priority.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Aug 2013 18:34:07
ok, as from today, our latest linked targets are.
tim krul (gk newc), vicente geita (gk valencia), yohan cabaye (midf newc), benzema (fwd rm), ash williams (def sw), michu (fwd sw), mata (mid chel), torres (fwd chel), rooney (fwd mu).
now, I appreciate that half of these are just "newspaper talk" and not necessarily on the wenger hitlist but, they all make sense too me and any of them would be a welcome addition to our squad.
come on arsene. we gooners have always lived and died by the adage "in arsene we trust". you have one week to prove it. you have one week to make our season. you have one week to please 60,000+ gooners. you have possibly one week so save your job.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Aug 2013 17:46:49
Where the hell are these Torres rumours coming from? There is not one credible source reporting this.just stop people, please! There is a bit more substance in the Mata and Lamela stories, but more than likely they are dog pile as well.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I totally agree NCG, I actually think that we could still do a lot worse than him for 20-25m, however I think Giroud has started great and will be a BIG player this season!

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2013 17:44:51
Eds, just a question: If Arsenal qualify for the CL, is there any chance we'll also go over our 78 mil transferbudget (I've added Gervinho)? Will we also use the money we get from qualification?

Another questions are there any top-players still available according to the eds? So late in the transferseason clubs are normally reluctant to let their stars go.

Thx {Ed044's Note - I would not get too tied up in budgets. The club are looking to bring players in, that should be enough. There will be lots of business done in the next week or so.}

25 Aug 2013 17:28:00
I'm sorry, but how are any of you threatened by this goalless tottenham side.the only thing that can beat us in the derby is the ref.they can't score from open play
Soldado, b!tch pls, he's useless

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He is not bad at penalties though and we like to give away penalties.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nuclear, you are tempting fate my friend. just because we all hate spurs and they are our sworn enemies it doesn't mean they are crap. early days and I hate to say it but i'm not looking forward to next sunday and I have been a gooner for over 40 years.
if they can get over the huge loss of bale, and let's be honest, he was freaking awesome last season, they are a threat. potentially as good as chelsea, Manchester United and man city. just my opinion mate

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not so convinced! I think on paper the look good but they just never seem to completely click, I don't think they will get over bale that quick and that's why they haven't let him go yet because the willian transfer fell through, they need that extra spark that was bale! I feel confident next weekend! We always seem to turn it up a notch against them and maybe with a new addition or so we could kick start our season and make a statement :) always have faith

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2013 16:58:04
Wenger has said that they have been working hard on transfers on numerous occasions, well with nobody close, it means they are liars or just plain useless at negotiating.
The board and wenger are clearly taking the piss and have been since day one of the transfer window, Where is Gadizis hiding?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agreed

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Liars that take the piss with some bad negotiations thrown in . The board should stand down because they ain't stood up for the club for years

25 Aug 2013 16:09:18
This is getting funny, is there a player being transferred this summer were not linked with? Now its Mata, Torres, Rooney again etc etc. One week and all will be revealed. Either a massive high or massive low. If were waiting for CL to be guaranteed then will be Wednesday at best. If I lesten to all the rumours and web gossip were roughly going to bring in 4-5 players, I think 2 is best to hope for possibly 2 + Flamini.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Aug 2013 16:08:34
Ed is Lamela pretty much guaranteed to join spurs and why can't we sign him, and how many players do you realistically see joining us exc flamini, why hasn't Sakho been signed and are we genuinely interested in di Maria and with benzema out of the pipeline who's next as st {Ed027's Note - wait and see, not long now

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You hinting at something ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2013 15:28:36
Eds, any reason we didn't go for tevez?

Always scored goals and it the type of striker that wins you trophies.

Was affordable and his wages weren't bad considering we can 'afford players like Rooney.'

Would have been an awesome buy IMO

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We probably didn't go for Tevez, because at the time we were after Higuain.

Agree0 Disagree0

Loool, no thank you. With the way he refused to play for Citeh and then took an unsanctioned one month holiday in Argentina? That's more disrespectful than anything Suarez ever did

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2013 15:14:20
So benzema's agent says no move to arsenal and now Andy brassell has said di Maria won't join us either.

Please go for lamela and Benteke! PLEASE

Believable0 Unbelievable0

TBH, I would rather have Benteke than Benzema. The Benz is over-hyped and very wasteful

Not ITK, however, Willan and now possibly E'to going to Chelski, quite a few changes of key personal at the blues, what do you think of Mata and the misfiring blonde striker coming our way?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd be over the moon with these 2 in our squad. Add a keeper an def and were on

Agree0 Disagree0

I would sell my kidney on e-bay and then throw a party if that happened

Not a rumour but fact we ain't going to sign any player for more than say £22 to £25 million. These bids and rumours of £35 to £40 million for a player. come on this arsenal FC, be realistic. Wenger & gazidis don't have the nuts to go beyond and upwards of £25million. Stadium to pay off and still nb52 wages! Keep the faith Ramsey, carzola and Wilshire are getting in there stride and the pod & giroud are finding the net! COYG

Arsenals debt is around £94m which is spend over 20 years at a low interest rate. The last official figures released by the club stated a cash surplus of 123.3m November 2012.that's prob up to 140m as of now with Hugh sponsership deals not taken into account.Plus around 450m - 480m per week taken of our wages which could improve if 52k worlds best moves on . km {Ed027's Note - that is gross debt, our net debt is 250m, gross debt takes into account th money in the bank

With Benzema, s agent stating he will not join Arsenal, our chances of signing him seem remote even if Madrid also move for Suarez.
Madrid also seem to think they can then entice us to buy Di Maria to help fund their purchases.
In view of their tactics re Higuain, I would love Arsenal to give the impression that we will buy Di Maria, then pull out of the deal at the last possible minute.

{Ed044's Note - An interesting approach, leaving Di Maria providing depth to an already very talented Real Madrid team, and Arsenal a player short. Who is it you support?}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ed044

Over the last 2-3 years, we have endured a succession of dirty tactics in transfers involving Barcelona and now RM seem to be playing us for suckers. We were interested in Higuian, agreed a fee verbally only for RM to renege on the deal when Napoli offered a higher fee.
Now because it suits RM to let Di Maria go as surplus to requirements, other clubs are supposed to form an orderly queue to pay an exaggerated price to help RM's cash flow for Bale and possibly Suarez.
Why encourage them, if they have an unhappy player too bad. Our priorities are a CDM, a defender and a striker, not a carbon copy of what we already have in Walcott. {Ed044's Note - You are paranoid. If Arsenal has the time and money to screw around like this fine, but it will very quickly become a laughing stock.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair points from both smartie and ed. I would love to stick it to Madrid, but only if we have our transfers sorted first and foremost.

Also I think 30m for Di Maria is too much but given that paid 25m for him I wouldn't say its "exaggerated".

I don't particularly rate the player but then again in the last four years he has avg. 18 assists a season. Him and a striker with a high conversion rate circa 30m and we have real offense

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed 044
Far from being paranoid, I am simply stating why pandering to RM is not the way to go.
As for becoming laughing stocks, I don't see anyone taking the mick out of RM over Higuain or Anzi over Willian.
You might also like to look at your first response and explain how not buying a player leaves us a man short. {Ed044's Note - Both clubs were selling not buying. Your "plan" seems to be for Arsenal to pretend to buy players then drop out; presumably to be able to have some sort of banter rights over the opposing fans. As a result of this, the club will be left light of players they want, losing money over bids, and become a laughing stock for such inane levels of stupidity. And all of this whilst the club's supporters are complaining that the club and manager are not buying players.}

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2013 12:58:19
Why are we not making a move for Lamela? There was all this talk about Di Maria which seems to have gone very quiet, probably as it was never going to happen. But Lamela could reasonably be signed and is an insane player, it is when we pass up on players like him that I get most frustrated.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Aug 2013 12:48:23
Chelsea to sign Willian and eto now that must mean torres is guna get dropped, this could be the transfer that wenger does: (1) no one interested in him would be all ours. (2) £15m would be ideal for wenger. (3) he would jump at the chance to leave Chelsea IMO and kick start his carrer for the world cup. Would not be my ideal signing but if we could get him back to his best then teams would fear us?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Aug 2013 12:44:59
great result yesterday looking forward to Tuesday, think cabaye will be our first real signing followed by di maria and sakho, I've got a funny feeling we may even make a push for suarez as by then we will be a champions league club officially, still think there is something in the clause we wouldn't have bid 40 mil and one pound without some info.

fingers crossed,

Unless something happens with Suarez to Madrid, Benzema is a no go.

An agent coming out and saying that doesn't leave much hope.

In fact it actually makes it look like Benzema has no interest in joining us, otherwise his agent would be trying to stir things up by:

A: Getting the transfer done, in which he would be entitled to a large fee for his services.

or

B: Go back to Real looking improved terms for his client given the interest from us. (Agents are usually entitled to a percentage of a clients earnings)

On another note, a nice win yesterday with two very good finishes from Podolski. The team looked great on the counter but it would have been nice to keep a clean sheet!

I know he's an ex spud but I reckon we should have went for Darren Bent. The guy has that uncanny knack of being right place right time and with todays inflated market, he would have been a bargain squad player.

Good Morning guys.

I am a Liverpool fan but have great respect for Arsenal going right back to when you won the title at Anfield last minute.

John Henry was adament that he would not sell Suarez to you and that now seems to be accepted.

Looks like Benzema is a no go.

Cabaye wants to go to PSG so you might be jilted again.

I think that your best shot will be to go for Rooney. Offer 45 million or so and Man U will sell him to you as that will be a good price and it will mean that they do not let the player go to Chelsea which is what they are keen to make sure does not happen.

If you want a keeper spend the money and get Begovic. We went for Mingolet because he was cheaper but you can see what a difference he has made already. Without him we would be on 2 points not 6.

If you miss out on getting in a decent forward and a new keeper you are likely to be struggling to make top 4. We were on our knees until John Henry moved in but we are now up and running. We have quite a way to go to catch up you guys but if you don't keep moving forward we will be breathing down your necks before you know it.

Lets look forward to having a great season and for us both to show the spurs what proper clubs are.

Just watched the highlights of the Newcastle game and Ben Arfa was the only decent player they had on the pitch. I reckon a sneaky bid for Ben Arfa and Cabaye would be a good option. Could get them both for £30 million.

I think those two would give us more depth. At the moment I dread to think what would happen if pretty much anyone in our current squad is injured!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yep I'd agree to that! Sign freebie flamini and a keeper and it looks a bit better than the pie in the sky players we are chasing like Suarez, Rooney and now Torres!

Let's face it we have about 16 players who would be likely to get a start in EPL teams filling the bottom 13 places last season.

Only 6 or so guaranteed a start for teams in the top 7 and only 3/4 who would could challenge for a starting place for the top 3.

We can put out a first choice 11 who have a good chance of beating any team in the league, when they are all match fit and rested.

We need more players, not just super stars, but players who would get in the bottom 13 teams and can put in a shift. Players who will sit on the bench for game after game but when needed have the know how to play in the EPL and cover for injuries and packed schedules.

Don't get me wrong I would prefer them all to be world class but we haven't got the money for that and stars won't be happy sitting on the bench too long.

By all means have a number of youngsters in there but for the experience not because they are going to be thrown in the deep end and expected to perform. Sanogo yesterday got knocked off every ball he went for. He needs time and pref a loan to learn the pace and physicality of our game.

We need players like Flamini who may not win us a game when called upon but sure as hell won't lose us one. These players wouldn't be demanding champions league football before signing so I don't understand why we didn't target 3/4 at the start of the window and cherry pick the best.

We still need the game changing Marquee players to come in but we must not be so focused on them that we leave ourselves short of good squad players.

Our first eleven is good but we always seem to get beat by teams with little quality but a lot of heart, its been the problem for a couple years now, the swanseas and villas always seem to pull one over us.

All we need is a quality striker, Giroud still doesn't fill me with confidence. We need a striker that will pull a goal out ov his Arse when the going gets tough, that's why I was filled with glee when we where pursuing Suarez. I really don't care weather its a big name signing or an unknown but as long as its a player of Suarezs' ilk because even the big names started somewhere.

What I wouldn't want is to get beaten by the toots, don't wanna play catch-up this early in the season, its best we be up there with the best of them fighting it out.

I seriously believe AW is working on something that's going to make us all happy gunner campers, something like a cazorla out the sleeve type thing or a podolski out the hat.

I hope Zalalem gets some time on the pitch against the minnows of the League, the Hulls and Crystal palaces.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Fans like you ahvnt got a clue giroud has been excennet preseason and has scored 3 in 3 matches if it was another striker you would be drooling.
whats happened to loyalty at the club all we now have is a bunch of know it all whingers.

Just watched MOTD and am I the only one who thinks Harry Redknapp is a total a***. Never liked him before but his comments were typical ex spurs manager

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Oh yeah he's still bitter about throwing away a 10 point lead and losing out on CL, cause Chelsea went onto win it (hehe).

They're so, so gutted- the fact is spurs have spent way more than us over the last 10 years and we on a shoe string have consistently finished above them. Bitter, bitter spuds.

Although this season though, they could over take us- unless. well, you know the rest.

Agree0 Disagree0

And he looked proper pissed off to be there! Watching all that prem footie must piss his championship mind right off! Is it that there so deluded down the lane that they still belive they'll finish above us after 19 yrs. even past managers still belive it as El person was ranting something similar yesterday. Did anyone see the real joy on Lukas Podolskis face at the goals. He was mobbed by the other players who were also obviously delighted FOR him. Everthing about his attitude, body language and performance looked to affirm that he is very happy and also very popular with the other players. Where are all these rumours about him leaving coming from?
Be it was started by Radio TalkSh**e

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Saw that, however he needs to be like that all the time, when he starts from the bench his body language is totally different.

Keep it up POD, and you'll become a legend.

I have to say all our players need to eat whatever Ramsey has for breakfast! Plus Sagna looked very comfortable at CB again yesterday so he obviously shared some of Rambo's breakfast!

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2013 08:23:35
Good morning everyone . I'm reading a lot of joy about our lovely team and rightly so. I don't want to dilute the feeling people are having but let's all have a reality check here and not take our foot off the gas. A few years ago it would have been a foregone conclusion that we would beat Fulham and as far as Fenerbahce are concerned they were diabolical anyway and I would be confident in us putting out our youth team to beat them. Yet I get the feeling that the way we are rejoicing lately is out of relief rather than anything else. That is why I believe that all us supporters have to put pressure on Wenger and the board to spend this nearly £100 million war chest they have now, yes! its been increased to £100 million if you didn't all know.Lets see some action. We have just over a week to go.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You have to think something is on the cards, not to buy players now would be unforgivable, even the main players are asking for them. Buy and we challenge again, don't buy and were 5/6th it's that simple. The top ten teams have first team squads of at least 24 players, we currently have 16, enough talk from Wenger and the board we now need action.

Agree0 Disagree0

A few years ago it would have been a foregone conclusion that we'd beat Fulham, but the competition in the prem now is fierce. Every team in the league are better. In terms of ability there's not a massive gulf in class as there once was. I didn't think Manchester United were overly amazing last year, but they won by a country mile. There's a thin line between truly world class players, and nearly every player in our league is a candidate for international duties.

In principal I suppose I'm saying that claiming that we should be hammering certain teams is a bit naive these days. Villa proved that against us last week.

Gooner83

Agree0 Disagree0

Trust me, if Wenger does not strengthen before the window closes the poisonus atmosphere at the Emirates will get worse. plus the media will use it like a dog with a bone to chip away at Wenger. no hiding place Wenger/Board - time is up!

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2013 07:37:44
If we truly want to compete we need 3 world class players down the spine of our team. We already have good back ups but we need real quality at GK, CB, DM and ST. I appreciate what the club has done in moving us to a superb new stadium but we are in danger of following Liverpool into the dark ages if we don't sort it out now with a real statement of intent in the transfer market. I loathe the effect Chelsea and Man City have had on the game but didn't Jack Walker do the same at Blackburn and look at them now? The Arsenal are different, we can now afford to spend this money; so let's spend it! We need to or we could end up like Newcastle. A full 50,000 seater stadium and battling for mid table mediocrity. We have quality throughout this team that just needs reinforcing with the 2013/14 equivalent of a Seaman, Adams, Gilberto and an Henry. Now, if you could throw in a Bergkamp, Pires and Campbell (pre nutty stage) I wouldn't complain. In the meantime, I still reckon we have enough to cane Spurs on Sunday though; so 'Arry can stick his predictions for spurs top four up his.!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Reliable GK whom saves us us points not costs us , quality CB who has real leadership mentality and a DM who is happy to be an unsung hero. With those players we would be in with a shout of real success not trying to be 4th each year

Agree0 Disagree0

Any suggestions Gunner62 for those roles?

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2013 01:57:56
if we are in for Torres, what's the highest you'd want Arsene to pay for him? if it's something like £40m-£45m i'd be highly disappointed,
hoping we pay £25m MAX, and even then I think that's a stupid price for him
thoughts? {Ed027's Note - 15m

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Saying that if he had a blinding season we'd be calling it, 'the bargain of the year, well done Wenger'

Agree0 Disagree0

15m, and I'd be happy, want a winger over a striker anyway, feel after their first year the CF role is one that can be done well by both Giroud and Pods

Honestly the most I would pay is £10m, and maybe less. If he suddenly returns to form thn of course he is worth £30m plus and would be a bargain at £15m. But why is he going to return to form? It's been an age since he was a real threat, Michu is worth three times at least as much.
I'd rather have Flamini back for nothing than Torres for £15m plus. Don't worry though as Chelski aren't going to sell even if they get Rooney.

Agree0 Disagree0

Torres class and ability haven't just disappeared he chose badly by moving to a club that changes managers every 6 to 12 months and where certain players had to much of a say in the team and tactics. I would rather pay 15m for him and what he might do for us than 40m on saurez or rooney and what they could do to us

Agree0 Disagree0

Nothing, not even on a free!

Please god, no Torres.

Agree0 Disagree0

Torres is a much, much better player than Michu. 4 years ago he was second best to Henry when at Liverpool. Lost pace and confidence, at £15 mill he's an absolute steal.

this may just be a ploy to up the price. who knows.

I've been really impressed with what I've seen of Nathan Redmond lately for England and Norwich. Proper wide player who seems effective and can provide that extra creativity a team needs. Saw him in the championship last few years too whilst watching derby (local home team).

He's a youngster I wouldn't have minded Wenger having a punt on. Maybe after a season for Norwich he'll move onto bigger and better things. You know of any interest eds? {Ed027's Note - he just joined Norwich

Dear fellow Gooners this is the end of arsenal and wenger. You are probably thinking why I am saying this but now I shall justify myself. Since 2005 (our last trophy) we have done nothing but settle for a top 4 place. What happened to the arsenal of old where Manchester United used to fear playing against us, now we are a joke. It all started when David dein left the club he used to make everything happen he was eager to sign top quality players now we are stuck with Ivan gazidis and Peter hill wood not to mention wenger. This summer we have missed out on jovetic, higuain, rooney, fellaini 4 players who we could have easily acquired not to mention the time wasted on luis suarez. Now with rumours suggesting we are linked with Karim Benzema and Angel Di Maria we are definitely not going to acquire either of these players. So fellow Gooners brace yourself for another season of useletvess.

Ed what do you think about my thoughts

My question is, why did the edds post this drivel, I note you havnt mentioned a 400m stadium, maybe its because you wernt born then {Ed027's Note - everybody is entitled to their own opinion

Agree0 Disagree0

The word has it. Poor us the joke side that were the 4th best side in the country, poor us that spurs were desperate, dying to be where we are, along with Liverpool and one or two other clubs. Poor us hat only finished a few points behind City and Chelski with their wasted tens and tens of millions. Poor us that stayed in Europe longer than them.

As for 'missing' out on those transfer targets. Well boo hoo we didn't get just what any spoilt child wants, we should scream and cry of course.

Why didn't we get Rooney? Because no one has, because you are dealing with one of the biggest clubs in the world who don't want to sell, and because if they do sell Chelski will happily waste more of Abrahamovic's stolen billions.

Why didn't we get Jovetic? Because City have more money.hmm complex.

Why didn't we get Higuain? Because we weren't going to get blackmailed into over paying for a talented striker who couldn't nail down a place at a not great Real side.

Why didn't we get Fellaini? Mmm perhaps because no one has, and that includes United who are a bigger club than us.

Personally I'm desperate for signings but I'm getting even more desperate reading the booh hoo psts of people spoilt b the Wenger years. A joke? You need to support one of h many clubs belw us, you need to have supported us though the years when Paul Mariner, Chris Kiwomya, and many others were our star signings.

I despair.

Ghost,

Every now and then you really hit the right note for me.

On a side note, would all the people bemoaning no trophies for 8 years have been happy if we had won the two legue cup finals we were in, 2007 and 2011. Would they have been satisfied?

Estepona gooner

Mariner times were tough I remember them well as were the the Brian Hornsby and many others including the success under George we could never enjoy the football just the trothy. Arsen changed that and made us great to watch and successfull too. But 8 years the game has changed and we haven't we have stuck with AW knows best and are 4th with an ever widening gap between us and the tittle. I am so grateful for what arsen has done and want it to be him who makes us great again but is that possible?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ghost, great reply.

Just one correction, Chelski and Citeh have not wasted 10's of millions it's HUNDREDS!

Eds . What are your opinions on the possibility of Flamini resigning for the club? Good move to bring some experience to the club or a sign of desperation?

I personally think it could be a good thing . Someone who can play as Defensive midfielder and also right back and he will be free 😄 {Ed027's Note - good move, tells me that the player we wanted is not available. Desperate? Yes. But we've missed him since he left, warrior, point to prove, repay Wenger for this chance and win over the fans

have just heard wenger probably won't be signing anybody until after the fener game on tues. now i'm trying to sit on the fence and not aportion any blame on one individual but there is one thing I don't understand.
I appreciate wenger wants to concentrate on the game eg assess the squad, check for niggling injuries and work out who he is going to play bearing in mind A) we have 1 foot in the "next round" due to 3 nil first leg win and B) we have spurs 5 days later so he might want to keep players fresh and avoid any possible injuries but, my point is, why can't the board concentrate on trying to tie up a few transfers?
I know I have written a similar post recently, but who deals with our transfers? maybe the best possible signing we should have made at end of last season was somebody who could deal with new transfers. oh david dein please come back.
I personally think we should have appointed denis bergkamp as our chief negotiator a few months ago. the man is a legend, not just within the marble halls but throughout europe. he knows the game inside out and just as importantly he is a worldwide "household" name. I can't think of anybody more suitable to sell the "arsenal brand". no matter how much of a star you are if bergkamp wanted to talk to you would you listen?.of course you would. he could be the difference between just talking to any prospective purchases and signing any prospective purchases.maybe i'm just wishful thinking. but aren't all gooners at this moment in time?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

On the other hand it could easily be that all the players AFC are ACTUALLY after signing and their agents are waiting till after Tuesday before committing themselves?
As far as negotiating is concerned. As much as I love Dennis B. Other clubs/lawyers and Players Agents don't give a tinkers if the person they are dealing with is a legend or not, they are only I nterested in getting the deal THEY want

Agree0 Disagree0

That is a nice thought Dag. I understand what Exile is saying about the agents etc. But maybe DB10 would have a slightly better edge than whomever is dealing with these sharks at the moment. Certainly wouldn't be any worse?

He would defo get most players attention selling a club he no doubt loves.

Estepona gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Your forgetting my friends, that dennis bergkamp doesn't fly.

He wouldn't be doing much negotiating from an office in London (maybe when someone was looking to buy our players)

If you want to buy a clubs star player, do you think they are going to come to you? We've all read this summer about the negotiating team heading to spain or Germany trying to finalize higuain or Gustavo etc.

As much as i'd love Bergkamp back in some capacity, I don't think he would be suitable to the job in question

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal forever, good shout mate. I forgot all about bergkamps fear of flying. ok, what about thierry?

Your getting boring now wengerism
Im not wenger bashing. The man has Done incredible things for this football club I love so much. But if he doesn't make 2 or 3 big name signings. (And I mean class players. Not free transfers of old flames) then he has a lot to answer for and you will need tp acknowledg that rather than simply declaring your undivided love.
All true gooners love the man. He has given me the happiest football memories of my life. But he is not beyond reproach and if he doesn't step up before end of window, then we cannot compete again this year.
In wenger I trust (but come September 2nd I might need to retract that?)

Benzemas agent has said we have no chance of signing him.
lets be realistic.
Im hoping for . Richards, flamini, bender, and a goal scorer
I can't see how michu is going to improve us.
Victor moses maybe?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd take Michu over Moses anyday. I can't see how Moses could inproce Arsenal same way he hasn't improved Chelski.
I mean if he's so good why are they trying to bring in Willian and flog of Moses?
Your entitled to your opinion just like i'm entitled to mind.
In all honesty though I would really like to see Lamela in the red and white of Arsenal!

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair enough. I personally think giroud has 30 goals in him this year and signing michu who is alike for like player is not wengers way.
have to admit a dc and a dm are essential. what's happening with essien?

I'd love to get the truth about our transfer window debacle. It's important to know whether it is Wenger or some other who is responsible for the undignified and frankly rather embarrassing way we have conducted ourselves. After the Fenerbahce match Wenger stated - "The transfer market starts for me now" which seems pathetic after all the very public and noisy posturing that's been done over the past couple of months. It really does make us look like a bunch of clowns and Wenger, who I greatly admire, look slightly ridiculous.
Now we've got just over a week to strengthen a pretty thin squad. With all the flaky possibilities of the transfer market this tactic can only be considered irresponsible. If this cock-up is not Wenger's fault then we should know about it and cut him some slack. The causes of this farce do need to be identified and resolved as it is becoming a recurring theme which takes the majority of the season to recover from, and renders any serious trophy challenge a pipe dream.
We are a massive european club paying Wenger over 7 million and Gazidis 2 million a year. I'm beginning to think that a couple of well-meaning amateurs could do a better job.
Whatever we manage to organise now is always going to look like sloppy seconds, compromises or just plain desperate.
With money to spend we should be more than capable of mounting a challenge - not just scraping 4th by one measly point.

Wengers post match interview: asked if any signings were close, " no there is nothing close at the moment, I can't give you what I don't have, let's just focuse on Tuesday game in the champions leauge and then go from there". Weather he is lying or not I don't no but IMO we won't get anyone atleast till after that game. If you watched it you would of saw when praised for the form of the to strikers giroud and poldolski he had a smile the size of the m1 he loves it when he is right, but as soon as they asked about transfers he's stutering his words and getting nervous. I can't believe Chamakh scored on his Palace debut. Fair play to him. Was well taken. I've never seen a player mug off both Huth and Shawcross in one drop of the shoulder.

Well done son showing your pedigree lol

Gooner83

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He played for a while last week, so it wasn't his debut, but his first start.

Never saw people's problem with him. When given games he was able to score.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ted 8 goals in 40 premier league matches is not scoring when given the chance, don't kid yourself.
Unless of course, you mean what I believe, when given an extended run in the team with full confidence then he could have a relatively successful return.
In his first season he scored 11 goals in his first 21 matches. Then RVP got fit, Chammaz was dropped, through the rest of that season he scored 1 goal, his poor form in front of goal continued for us from that point.
He would have been a good scorer, 1 in 2 maybe, but was he as good as RVP? No, that's why he didn't play, that's why he lost confidence, that's why he scored so few.
I hope that at Palace he is there main striker and scores a few goals. Good luck to him.

Just seen Wenger has said no new signings. before spuds, is he crazy, I pray we win or it will get nasty again, 60000 very angry fans will not be plesent.I really believe now he has no idea who to buy, we move from one illadvised bid to another must be on plan z by now, heads need to roll on the backroom staff, what have they been doing for the last 95days and where is our elusive owner in all this debacle, there is no accountability at any level in our great club, do we need new manager, no I don't think so, but owner, yes please can someone save our club from an American owner who obviously does not care one bit about the wellbeing of arsenal fc, the staff, players or fans. We vented at the club last week, they promised signings, and now with 8days left we still wait for signing number one, this is obviously not ivans fault,, or wengers but the faults lat at the feet of silent stan, I was at the game last week at will be there next the team will always have my support, the management team is another mater.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He said no signings before Fenerbache, not Spurs.

Cracks seem easy to paste over for some people don`t they!
Pre season games, a very poor performance from fenerbache and an average Fulham, suddenly make wenger the man again.
Ok, you have to beat what's in front of you, and there have been some good individual performances (very pleased to see Ramsey playin well again) but as soon as the cup games start are league form will drop, then we lose cup games to bradfords and so, because our squad is tired and injured, then we finish strong because we are out of everything! is that 2014? or was that 2013, or 2012 or 2011 or 2010 etc etc
The two wins change nothing, w need players and we need quality players, not cheap stocking fillers, then and only then can we compete otherwise we just participate, like the fat bloke in a marathon.
Please deliver what you`ve promised arsene, if not retire.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ike I think it was 2008 mate. {Ed027's Note -

Why are we just papering over cracks when beating these teams. A lot of people were saying that we probably had the worst draw possible in Fener, with the players and the stadium, fans etc. Yet we pissed 'em. We've struggled with Fulham over the years yet played well and beat them soundly.

Then you have the spurs who have spent god knows, beating the mighty Crystal Palace with a pen and we're supposed to be the team that has cracks to fill.

Ofcourse we need players but we do have a team capable of giving it a good shot this year. A better shot if we add the players needed.
