Maybe it`s club allegiance but Rice not press resistant and can`t pass between the lines? And Mainoo ( I do rate him) but pick him to help out Rice I don`t agree with and to pick Wharton ahead of Rice if Trent plays not for me. I`d maybe drop Trent and play Gallagher and let Rice and Bellingham do their thing. More attacking wise if needed ( some would say from the start - me included) play Rice Bellingham and Foden as number 10 where he should be and Saka Kane plus Gordon/ Eze down left in front three. Different Strokes I guess COYG.

Rice can't play inside opponent's block in the early build-up, he tends to drop into the back line. I'd play Rice and Mainoo in midfield and Trent at rb instead of Walker.
There's a nice video on youtube by Pythagoras in boots about England's tactical struggles. It's perhaps particularly nice for us Arsenal fans as he's not very kind towards Kane. Calls him a "natural loser" for instance. I guess you can't take Tottenham out of a man.

All good here thanks E014. Massive Kai fan but if as Ed02 says we are in for a striker then its Isak for me but out of interest checked out Gyokeres and last season he played a game and a half v FC Porto and scored 3 goals and an assist whereas we scored 1 in two games. Hoping we`ve decided against Toney and splash the cash on Isak or Gyokeres COYG

Overhyped to much for me too and has already failed at other bigger clubs than Brentford.
Trent is the one that needs to be binned, he’s a liability anywhere, so it’s bring in Wharton and allow Rice and Bellingham to do what they do best.

I hope he proves me wrong but the England team is wasted on Southgate. It was obvious to see that Trent playing in CM didn’t work- Bellingham comes deep anyway which meant we sat back and there was no options to pass forward.
Hopefully he’ll realise that and drop Trent, move Foden into the middle and play Eze/ Gordon or Palmer on the left.
Very frustrating game to watch.
